Our take on the Alpine KCE-433iV iPod® Cable

by Zak Billmeier
Alpine

Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.

Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Want to listen to your iPod through your compatible Alpine CD receiver? Connect this KCE-433iV connection cable between your iPod and your stereo, and you'll get super-fast data transfer and full playback control, while your iPod's battery charges as you drive.

Once connected, Alpine's Full Speed controls allow you to manage just about every playback function right from the radio's faceplate. QuickSearch™ makes it easy to find the music that you want — jump between artists, albums, and playlists at the push of a button. You can even scroll through songs using the rotary control knob. Album, artist, and song information from your iPod will show up on the radio's display, too. Warranty: 1 year.

Bought one with my new deck 1.5 years ago. It stopped working completely. Was no longer covered by warranty. Had to pay full price for a replacement in order to use my iphone the deck i have installed. next time ill be sure to purchase a deck that doesnt require a cord like this to use my iphone.
Pros:
worked fine for 1.5 years
Cons:
shouldve lasted longer for the price i paid. But this is the first time ive EVER been dissapointed with a product i purchased with Crutchfield.

Alpine KCE-433iV iPod® Cable

Written By Ralph W, Winston Salem, NC on Monday, February 06, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The cable works as advertized.
Pros:
Simple to connect to the Alpine radio.
Cons:
Not so simple to get the cable from withing the dash to the outside. The Alpine radio connection is on the rear of the radio; i.e. inside the dash of the vehicle. In this case, a hole had to be drilled within the glove box to enable routing the cable from within the dash to the passenger area. Not the fault of the cable manufacturer. A poor design by Alpine radio.

Alpine KCE-433iV iPod® Cable

Written By ScottB, Tulsa, OK on Monday, September 06, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This cable is a great way to integrate your ipod or iphone to your Alpine head unit.

I have an iphone 4 and an Alpine CDE-103BT head unit.
Using this cable, my head unit recognizes my phone as an ipod and will start playing music stored on the phone. I can also access my phone book which syncs with the head unit. If someone in my phone book calls their name appears on the head unit's display.

The best part is the ability to use navigation software. Voice guidance will dim the music volume to give you turn by turn directions.

pricey, but worth it

Written By David, Charlotte, NC on Thursday, June 03, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This cable is no joke. It's VERY heavy duty, the sound that comes through is crystal clear, and it charges my iPhone 3G very quickly. I was not crazy about the fact that it's this expensive.. but if you own an Alpine stereo that utilizes this cable and you own an iPod or iPhone, get it. The only other issue is that it may be hard to fish it through your dashboard depending on your vehicle.

Works perfectly - iPod seems to sound better with this cable via the KCE-400BT than it
did when directly connected to the CDA-9885 head unit.
