Alpine

Our take on the Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack

The KTP-445 connects to any 2005 and newer Alpine headunit that uses a black power harness. It will not work with the CDE-100 receiver.

Want a simple way to kick up the power of your Alpine receiver? Alpine's "Power Pack" amplifier increases your receiver's power output to 45 watts RMS power by 4 channels — plenty of power to drive high-performance speakers or keep up with a big subwoofer amplifier. Best of all, you install the compact Power Pack by plugging it directly into your Alpine receiver's wire harness — no extra wires to run, and no other connections needed.

Note: The KTP-445 Power Pack won't work in systems where an outboard factory amplifier is still active. You'll have to bypass the factory amp if you want to upgrade your power with the KTP-445. Please contact an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to check compatibility if you have any questions.

Features

Overview: The Alpine KTP-445 Head Unit Power Pack is an easy-to-install power upgrade amplifier that allows you to add higher output and more dynamic response to your Alpine headunit. The KTP-445 amplifies your Alpine headunit's power output, resulting in a 150 percent power increase over the original power from the headunit's built-in amplifier.

Compatibility: The KTP-445 connects to any 2005 and newer Alpine headunit that has a black power harness. Please check with your Crutchfield Product Advisor to confirm compatibility.

Installation: Since the KTP-445 is small and compact, it installs behind your Alpine headunit in the dash of most vehicles. Its plug-and-play connections keep it simple, without requiring additional wiring or special tuning. The male harness connects to the rear plug on your Alpine headunit while the female harness plugs into your Alpine headunit's harness (included with your Alpine headunit). Then connect the wires from the Alpine headunit's harness to your factory harness adapter (sold separately).

Note: The factory radio circuit needs to be a minimum of 15A. If it is not, a separate power and ground will need to be installed for the KTP-445.

Controls: A high/low gain switch on the bottom of the amplifier allows for proper gain settings, whether or not a subwoofer is part of the system.

The title says it all! It took me 30 minutes to put this in my 2004 Tacoma. It matched up with my Alpine BT103 perfectly. It was soooooooo easy to install. I was able to tuck it under the a/c vents above the a/c controls.

For the money and ease of use you can't beat it

Written By brackforce, Fayetteville, NC on Monday, September 06, 2010

I replaced the factory system in my 07 Sierra with a CDE-103BT, SPS-600Cs in the front doors, and SPS-600s in the rear doors. The difference was already amazing, but I wanted a little extra thump and high volume clarity so I decided to look into amps. I remembered from my high school days of installing amplifiers that it could be a pain to run extra battery cables and speaker wires through door holes and under molding so I wasn't sure if I wanted to take on the job, but found out about this amp through a little research. It was a breeze to install. Just plug the wiring harness into the amp then the amp into the head and you're done. It has plenty of wire length and isn't too big so I was able to put it behind the glove box and run the wires into the head over the air conditioning duct. For the price and ease of installation (it took about 5 minutes, literally) you can't beat this amp. It's not a huge difference in sound quality, but it's definitely noticeable. I was able to turn the bass up more and can crank the volume without distortion to a level beyond what I will be normally listening to. The highs will really scream, too, if you turn the treble up a notch or two. I highly recommend this amp if you aren't running a sub, need a little extra oomph, and don't want to spend all day (or pay) for installation.

Installed the Alpine X303 head unit in my tractor running 4" front spkrs and 6 1/2" rears.
Sounded really good. But when I installed this KTP445 amp it just took it up a level. It goes
louder than I ever need and there's no hint of distortion. Very clear, crisp sound. Get this
amp!

I wasn't too sure when looking over the details of this unit as to what I could expect after
it was installed. After receiving and installing it, I can definitely say it was well worth the
money. It was definitely worth double the asking price. The highs, mids, and lows were
more punchy, crisp and clear, especially the mids. Everything sounded really "tight" if I
can describe it that way. It was literally a plug and play installation and there is plenty of
cable length to hook everything up out of the way. This is an incredible value and if you
can use it, definitely get it, even if you're happy with how everything sounds already.

This is powering 4 Infinity Kappa's atm. 2 6.5", 2 4x6's.

High quality product. Super easy to install, it took only 15 minutes. I have it set up with an alpine cde-102, alpine type s 5X7s and there is a huge difference. I need a new amp for my subs to keep up! My next purchase will be dynamat though, at loud volumes there is excess noise of the speakers working.

The best part about it is the easy installation.

I was a little skeptical before buying this unit. I knew I wanted more power for my speakers than the head unit's little amp, but I wasn't looking for competition sound out of my daily driver.

The ease of installation was amazing, and this thing makes such a difference in the sound. Totally worth it!

Easy Upgrade

Written By Rick, New Berlin, NY on Thursday, July 29, 2010

Simple to install, the plug and play was as described. Am using with Alpine 9887 head unit in my 2004 Ford Ranger 4 door cab. It can push my stock speakers far beyond what they can handle, so I will have to upgrade speakers to get upper power sound quality (oem speakers won't handle the bass). Low to almost mid range power has good sound quality for mids and highs. For what it is, this little amp can just about deafen me in the drivers seat, I have turned it up a few times to see, but I'm sure that small cubic feet and good acoustics in the cab help. But still, the amp is no joke, it does work well for it's small size. I would recommend this for any Alpine head unit users for a hassle free power upgrade.

This is a great upgrade for your head unit. I did have to run a new power and ground line because my truck did not offer enough power to run this, but still an easy install and great sound. Can't beat the value of this. I love Alpine now.

I'd give it 100 stars if I could. This product is a revolutionary game changer due to ability
to easily, *very* easily, connect and hide in behind a random dash area - no need to
install an amp under seats or in trunk running wires all over the place. No need to even
splice wires - just connect and go - assuming Alpine HU of course. Not sure if it's
compatible with non-Alpine HU's though..? At 44 RMS, the punch satisfies average
listener very well. I combined one of these with four Polk 6.5's in doors, the smaller
Bazooka sub in the trunk and one of Alpine's better head units, and so for a relatively
small expense and install effort, I now have a system that normally would cost much
more in terms of install headache and cost. Of course my next statement will make die
hard audiophiles chuckle, but it's actually the finest sounding system I've ever had -
home or car.
