Our take on the Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack

The KTP-445 connects to any 2005 and newer Alpine headunit that uses a black power harness. It will not work with the CDE-100 receiver.

Want a simple way to kick up the power of your Alpine receiver? Alpine's "Power Pack" amplifier increases your receiver's power output to 45 watts RMS power by 4 channels — plenty of power to drive high-performance speakers or keep up with a big subwoofer amplifier. Best of all, you install the compact Power Pack by plugging it directly into your Alpine receiver's wire harness — no extra wires to run, and no other connections needed.

Note: The KTP-445 Power Pack won't work in systems where an outboard factory amplifier is still active. You'll have to bypass the factory amp if you want to upgrade your power with the KTP-445. Please contact an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to check compatibility if you have any questions.

Features

Overview: The Alpine KTP-445 Head Unit Power Pack is an easy-to-install power upgrade amplifier that allows you to add higher output and more dynamic response to your Alpine headunit. The KTP-445 amplifies your Alpine headunit's power output, resulting in a 150 percent power increase over the original power from the headunit's built-in amplifier.

Compatibility: The KTP-445 connects to any 2005 and newer Alpine headunit that has a black power harness. Please check with your Crutchfield Product Advisor to confirm compatibility.

Installation: Since the KTP-445 is small and compact, it installs behind your Alpine headunit in the dash of most vehicles. Its plug-and-play connections keep it simple, without requiring additional wiring or special tuning. The male harness connects to the rear plug on your Alpine headunit while the female harness plugs into your Alpine headunit's harness (included with your Alpine headunit). Then connect the wires from the Alpine headunit's harness to your factory harness adapter (sold separately).

Note: The factory radio circuit needs to be a minimum of 15A. If it is not, a separate power and ground will need to be installed for the KTP-445.

Controls: A high/low gain switch on the bottom of the amplifier allows for proper gain settings, whether or not a subwoofer is part of the system.

Makes a difference

Written By Brandon, Customer for 9 years, Moscow, ID on Monday, February 20, 2012

Super easy to install. Fit right in behind the glove box of my 2003 WRX, longest part of the install was screwing the glove box back on. I wasn't expecting a big difference, just wanted a little extra juice for my speakers. Have 5 1/4" Infinity reference in the front, 4" in the back, with an Alpine CDA-9886 head unit. When my sub is up (12" Kicker L5 with 300 RMS mono alpine amp), the speakers would be drowned out and distorted. Was mostly clear to volume level 18, although some songs would still distort. With the amp installed I can turn it up to 23 with no distortion, basically too loud to even listen to. Down around 18, where its comfortable but loud, the speakers don't distort at all, no matter what I'm listening to. And I can actually hear the music with my sub turned up all the way. Ordered the "open box" for $13 less and it arrived in brand new condition. Didn't need to call them with this order, but the customer service center is awesome.

Great for intermediate sound

Written By ibd2328, Coeburn, VA on Saturday, February 04, 2012

I have this installed in my BMW 330i with lots and lots of customization. The amp is almost perfect size for most installations, however, bmw spares no space when putting cars together. I have this installed above my fuse box behind the glove box. The wires are extra long which gives alot of options for placement. Installation is literally a snap(plug one end into your alpine HU and the other in adapter that came with the HU). At low to mid level volume this thing sounds amazing for the price. I have the 4 focal tweeters paralleled with my 4 mid's so each component is not getting the power needed to maximize sound. Eventually I plan to run another outboard amp to the tweeter's and run the power pack to only the 4 mid's. I listen to alot of rock and country so I like punchy bass, guitars, keyboards, and all the instrumental highs associated with tweeters and components. Although I have this pack essentally running to 8 speakers it still manages to push them close to their max. The Focal tweeters coming off this thing sound ungodly.

Alpine CDE-123 HU, 4- Alpine type S 4" in front doors and rear deck, 4- Focal TNI 1.5 tweeters in front cabin and rear deck, 2- Earthquake SWS 8" under each front seat, 2- type r 4ohm dvc 10's in custom closed box with about .85 cu ft per sub. in the trunk 1- Fosgate T1500 amp running to the type r's paralled at 2ohms 1- PDX 2.150 running to two sws earthquake 8" at 150x1 at 4ohms a piece
Pros:
easy installation, great power for the price, high quality, flexible installation, works perfect for after market tweeters rated 30-75 nominal
Cons:
the only problem you will have is if you are trying to run high quality aftermarket components(50-100) and tweeters(30-75) off each channel. Not enough power to produce the quality of sound the system is capable of.

Can't live without it.

Written By AaronF150, Baltimore, MD` on Tuesday, January 24, 2012

I installed the alpine power pack when I installed my w-910 head unit. Never hear the head without the powerpack, but I am quite sure there is no way it would sound as good and loud as with the pack. I barely ever go above half volume and its loud enough I can sing and no one can hear me over the music, which is a good thing. bottom line is, if u like music, u need this power pack with your head unit.
Pros:
Great sound, great power. Easy inline installation. Don't have to run separate power.
Cons:
can't really think of any for this thing. its great.

WOW!! No reason not to have this

Written By Zack, WI on Thursday, January 19, 2012

Alpine really hit a home run with this baby. I recently decided to do a complete audio install in my 08 civic coupe, and planned on buying 2 amps. One for the sub and one for the other 4 speakers. Im so glad that the Crutchfield advisor told me about this power pack. Its super easy to install and gives you just about as much power as an average external amp minus the extra wiring and money. Im still amazed about how good my 4 Boston Acoustic speakers sound with this powering them. This is a must have for anyone looking to build a modest stereo system!
Pros:
Install couldn't get any easier. All the benefits of a 4 channel amp and none of the extra hassle and cost.

WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Written By Joe9512, New York on Tuesday, November 22, 2011

I have a '08 GMC Sierra and 2 of my factory speakers had blown. I went with new Kenwood KFC-X183C all the way around (worth looking into!) I asked if it were possible to wire this amp into my factory deck because i did not want to spend the money on an after market stereo. They said they would give it a shot and they were able to figure it out and mount it in the dash so it is not visible. My truck now has great sound quality and no visible signs of upgrades. If you are looking to step up your sound without going all out i highly recommend going the route i did.

Best Pound for Pound Car Audio Product

Written By Mark, Southeast US on Thursday, October 20, 2011

Overhauling my cars audio system has been a pain. It even got to the point where I was longing for my factory speakers with an aftermarket HU set up. I knew I was going to need an amp at some point to make any upgrades worth my while but all the lower end stuff I could afford was going to run around $420 after parts and labor got factored in and even then that would only leave me with 50 watts RMS per channel. On my current budget I couldn't justify spending that much.

I decided I would be better off getting an Alpine head unit with a power pack and I have to say the Power Pack has made a world of difference. The aftermarket Alpine coaxial 60 watt speakers I installed in my car have finally started performing up to their potential and made me realize why I tried to upgrade my speakers in the first place. The highs are cleaner and the Mid-Bass is not only louder but crystal clear as well. For the average listener that needs more power for their aftermarket speakers but can't break the bank for an amp this product is a no brainer.

I find it hard to believe that there is a better dollar for dollar value available in todays car audio market.

Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack

Written By Huzrddy, Whitefish, MT on Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Improves clarity, doesn't crackle when I crank the volume even with the stock speakers. After installing aftermarket speakers I was blown away with the sound quality! So simple to hook this up, seriously the hardest part was applying double sided tape to secure it to the firewall.
