The KTP-445 connects to any 2005 and newer Alpine headunit that uses a black power harness. It will not work with the CDE-100 receiver.

Want a simple way to kick up the power of your Alpine receiver? Alpine's "Power Pack" amplifier increases your receiver's power output to 45 watts RMS power by 4 channels — plenty of power to drive high-performance speakers or keep up with a big subwoofer amplifier. Best of all, you install the compact Power Pack by plugging it directly into your Alpine receiver's wire harness — no extra wires to run, and no other connections needed.

Note: The KTP-445 Power Pack won't work in systems where an outboard factory amplifier is still active. You'll have to bypass the factory amp if you want to upgrade your power with the KTP-445. Please contact an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to check compatibility if you have any questions.

Note: Sorry, Crutchfield cannot ship Alpine products to Guam or Puerto Rico.

Product Highlights:

  • plug-and-play compact Class D amplifier for Alpine in-dash receivers
  • 4-channel amplifier
  • 45 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (CEA-2006 compliant)
  • selectable gain switch (high/low)
  • fuse: 15A
  • 2-9/16"W x 1-1/2"H x 7-13/16"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

Packs Some Punch !!!!!

Written By paryted, Lanoka Harbor on Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This amplifier was installed in my 2005 Wrangler to make it possible to hear my stereo in the summer when the top will come off. I bought this amp because of the alpine head unit I purchased and the stated plug n play installation. It went even smoother than stated. The 4 channels at 45 watts are more than sufficient to power the set of infinity speakers in my jeep. The sound is crystal clear. The small size made it possible to install this amp behind my dash where it is totally out of sight because if you have a jeep you know that space is extremely scarce especially as the size of the system itself grows and we all know about that !!!

Pros: Ease of install. Small size. Pre wired.

Cons: Only works with alpine head units

Pretty Good.

Did not provide a substantial boost in volume, but it did clean up the sound and improve clarity at higher levels. Plug and play with the Alpine CDE-133BT. For the ease of installation and the size you can't really go wrong. Crutchfield is great as usual. shipped quick and works fine even though i got an open-box deal.

not plug and play compatible with Alpine CDE-110 (gray connector). you can cut off the connectors on either end of the amplifier and splice in though. hook the blue/white wire to switched 12V/ignition. If you only hook up the red wire to ignition the amplifier won't power on.

Make sure this is the one you need

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As the title says, make sure this is the amp you need. The connector on this unit only fits alpine units with the black connector, and not the gray. I thought since my receiver was new enough that it would fit. Wrong ! you will end up having to wire it manually just like you would the 445U. Also this unit has less advanced controls then the the 445U Personally i dont see why any one would get this unit any more, especially if they have the gray harness connectors.

Pros: Same wattage as 445U, Quick Connect if you have black connectors.

Cons: Less audio controls, more wire splicing if your using gray connectors or non-alpine deck.

This is a great amp. Extremely easy to install. Cables are nice and long so i mounted mine in my glove box. I have a 6 speaker system so i was skeptical but this amp does a very nice job, not as good as I'm sure an independent amp would do on the 4 speakers then another for the two, but all in all i'm very happy.

Pros: Compact size. Cable length

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Makes a big difference in the sound. Paired it up with my alpine 121 I had put in last year. Now the system is louder, is able to keep up with the sub I have on a 500w amp, and is able to drown out the jake brake. The old factory system was drowned out by the engine alone with the windows down. (no, I did not take out the muffler or anything like that). The power back should be bought togather with the alpine head.

Pros: Very easy to install, no wires to run, and it fits right behind the dash.

Cons: No crossover controls, too bad it can't be hooked up to an EQ like traditional amps.

Way Easier than installing an amp!

Plugged into Alpine HD137BT and sound was way better than factory system...put in aftermarket speakers and the sound really shines!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great amp for the price and ease of install. Have an amped sub and an Alpine CDE-123 in my '07 Odyssey and this helps the other speakers fill in the mids and highs. Install note: Definitely needs power to come from the battery. Had this hooked up to the power provided to the factory radio and sounded puny. Ran fused wire direct to battery and it made a HUGE difference. Sounds nice and full up to as loud as I can stand it.

Pros: Size, ease of install, cost

Cons: Probably damaging my ears

Mine must have issues

Written By John, San Jose, CA on Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Yes, it was easy to install, and yes, it makes my speakers sound better. The bad part is when I leave my truck in the sun all day at work, I get no sound from the stereo until the A/C has a chance to cool the amp off. Then speakers come back about 1 every 5 minutes, or just about as long as it takes me to get home. Of course I'd have to take it out again to have it serviced. Not worth the trouble for the cost. I'll continue to park in the shade and get leaves, pollen, and bird poop all over my truck.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I can probably take apart my dash and system blindfolded by now, but doesn't take away the fact that this thing is extremely easy to install. Literally just plug it in between stereo and cars wire harness stick it behind dash and your good to go. The wires are long enough to find somewhere behind the dash to mount it although I was able to pack it right behind the head unit. Connected to HD137BT, the amp provides a nice boost from just the head unit. and loud enough so you can't hear your passenger talking when turned up. For those looking for a an easy to install boost in volume/clarity, this is a no-brainer.

Pros: Too easy to install Compact Nice boost in volume/clarity No need to run separate power/remote/speaker wires

Cons: If you understand what you are getting, there are no cons. Maybe include second set of shorter wires?

Very good small amp. If we can call it by manual says, "LOW" Audio Settings GAIN recommended with SUB. I switch it to" LOW" and it was hard to say if it works. One week later I switch it back to "HIGH" to try it. WOW, excellent strong powerful amp, excellent sound quality. USE IT ON SETTING "HIGH". Love it

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Super easy to install. Fit right in behind the glove box of my 2003 WRX, longest part of the install was screwing the glove box back on. I wasn't expecting a big difference, just wanted a little extra juice for my speakers. Have 5 1/4" Infinity reference in the front, 4" in the back, with an Alpine CDA-9886 head unit. When my sub is up (12" Kicker L5 with 300 RMS mono alpine amp), the speakers would be drowned out and distorted. Was mostly clear to volume level 18, although some songs would still distort. With the amp installed I can turn it up to 23 with no distortion, basically too loud to even listen to. Down around 18, where its comfortable but loud, the speakers don't distort at all, no matter what I'm listening to. And I can actually hear the music with my sub turned up all the way. Ordered the "open box" for $13 less and it arrived in brand new condition. Didn't need to call them with this order, but the customer service center is awesome.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this installed in my BMW 330i with lots and lots of customization. The amp is almost perfect size for most installations, however, bmw spares no space when putting cars together. I have this installed above my fuse box behind the glove box. The wires are extra long which gives alot of options for placement. Installation is literally a snap(plug one end into your alpine HU and the other in adapter that came with the HU). At low to mid level volume this thing sounds amazing for the price. I have the 4 focal tweeters paralleled with my 4 mid's so each component is not getting the power needed to maximize sound. Eventually I plan to run another outboard amp to the tweeter's and run the power pack to only the 4 mid's. I listen to alot of rock and country so I like punchy bass, guitars, keyboards, and all the instrumental highs associated with tweeters and components. Although I have this pack essentally running to 8 speakers it still manages to push them close to their max. The Focal tweeters coming off this thing sound ungodly.

Alpine CDE-123 HU, 4- Alpine type S 4" in front doors and rear deck, 4- Focal TNI 1.5 tweeters in front cabin and rear deck, 2- Earthquake SWS 8" under each front seat, 2- type r 4ohm dvc 10's in custom closed box with about .85 cu ft per sub. in the trunk 1- Fosgate T1500 amp running to the type r's paralled at 2ohms 1- PDX 2.150 running to two sws earthquake 8" at 150x1 at 4ohms a piece

Pros: easy installation, great power for the price, high quality, flexible installation, works perfect for after market tweeters rated 30-75 nominal

Cons: the only problem you will have is if you are trying to run high quality aftermarket components(50-100) and tweeters(30-75) off each channel. Not enough power to produce the quality of sound the system is capable of.

I installed the alpine power pack when I installed my w-910 head unit. Never hear the head without the powerpack, but I am quite sure there is no way it would sound as good and loud as with the pack. I barely ever go above half volume and its loud enough I can sing and no one can hear me over the music, which is a good thing. bottom line is, if u like music, u need this power pack with your head unit.

Pros: Great sound, great power. Easy inline installation. Don't have to run separate power.

Cons: can't really think of any for this thing. its great.

Alpine really hit a home run with this baby. I recently decided to do a complete audio install in my 08 civic coupe, and planned on buying 2 amps. One for the sub and one for the other 4 speakers. Im so glad that the Crutchfield advisor told me about this power pack. Its super easy to install and gives you just about as much power as an average external amp minus the extra wiring and money. Im still amazed about how good my 4 Boston Acoustic speakers sound with this powering them. This is a must have for anyone looking to build a modest stereo system!

Pros: Install couldn't get any easier. All the benefits of a 4 channel amp and none of the extra hassle and cost.

I have a '08 GMC Sierra and 2 of my factory speakers had blown. I went with new Kenwood KFC-X183C all the way around (worth looking into!) I asked if it were possible to wire this amp into my factory deck because i did not want to spend the money on an after market stereo. They said they would give it a shot and they were able to figure it out and mount it in the dash so it is not visible. My truck now has great sound quality and no visible signs of upgrades. If you are looking to step up your sound without going all out i highly recommend going the route i did.

Best Pound for Pound Car Audio Product

Written By Mark, Southeast US on Thursday, October 20, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overhauling my cars audio system has been a pain. It even got to the point where I was longing for my factory speakers with an aftermarket HU set up. I knew I was going to need an amp at some point to make any upgrades worth my while but all the lower end stuff I could afford was going to run around $420 after parts and labor got factored in and even then that would only leave me with 50 watts RMS per channel. On my current budget I couldn't justify spending that much.

I decided I would be better off getting an Alpine head unit with a power pack and I have to say the Power Pack has made a world of difference. The aftermarket Alpine coaxial 60 watt speakers I installed in my car have finally started performing up to their potential and made me realize why I tried to upgrade my speakers in the first place. The highs are cleaner and the Mid-Bass is not only louder but crystal clear as well. For the average listener that needs more power for their aftermarket speakers but can't break the bank for an amp this product is a no brainer.

I find it hard to believe that there is a better dollar for dollar value available in todays car audio market.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this, along with an Alpine CDE-123, to install in my 2006 Honda Accord Coupe. I chose the cubby hole adaptor for the head unit and the KTP-445 fits perfectly behind the adaptor and the head unit.

First, I installed it with the Gain switch on "High". After using it for a couple of days, I felt that the sound was "muddy" and overly boosted. I changed the gain switch to the "Low" setting and the sound was transformed to near perfect, with clear audio and plenty of power. The manual needs to better explain how to use this switch. My suggestion is to use the Low Gain setting for the CDE-123.

I would highly recommend this upgrade.

Written By WarrenC, Missouri on Thursday, September 29, 2011

It was a little hard to fit into my truck dash (1999 old body style K1500 Chevrolet) but I am not going to grade it based on this. Just the other day I thought my radio went out so I sent it into Alpine, September 12th, the day before my 1 year warranty ended. I bought this unit and the Alpine stereo the same day. I was still receiving current and voltage through my connections so I figured it was my stereo. Sent it in, they sent it back, plugged it in, still wouldn't work. So for the heck of it, I decided to unplug this Alpine amplifier, and plugged the stereo back in, worked perfectly. The fuse wasn't blown either, thought maybe that was it. I didn't use my truck stereo quite that much since it's not my main driver. The Alpine amplifier was good while it lasted, but to be honest, I think my speakers have better sound now (M Class 50w/100w) than they did with the amplifier, that didn't quite make it a year.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I paired this up with the CDE121 in my Tacoma. I was able to attach it to the underside of the upper dashboard so that you can't even see it with the radio unit out. I still had to do a bit of stuffing to get all the wires in the dash so the radio would fit. This thing comes with quite a bit of wiring so you could mount it a fair distance away and still be able to hook it up. Definitely puts out a lot of power. Even the factory speakers in my truck will put out some serious noise with this thing.......about 20 on the volume dial is all I can stand! I'll eventually add some new speakers. All in all it was money well spent.

Fits behind the AC controls in a Jeep Wrangler

Written By Brandon, Texas on Friday, September 23, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this with the Alpine CDE121 and with crutchfield all the wiring and plugs were provided to make this thing a snap, its a real amp with real power. Gets loud and doesnt require any extra wiring other than behind the head unit. Saves a ton of time on the install. It uses a 15 amp fuse and my Alpine says it uses 10 amp fuse on the unit itself. So at 25 amps you would think it would blow the stock fuse but it did not. My stereo is loud and clear and when I crank it up to the point of distortion and breaking up I cant stand to listen to it that level anyway. I wanted it louder to overcome wind noise in my Jeep.

SIZE! I tucked this thing behind the HVAC controls of my wrangler invisible to theives and would take a knowledge person to even realize its behind the lower controls. Cant even see when the CD player is removed. In the event that my CD player is stolen the Amp would be unseen.

It doesnt have the clarity of an amp twice its power but it does sound nice and loud and clear with my Alpine Type S speakers.

Perfect Product for a Stealth Install

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this behind an Alpine CDA-105 (fits in the dash behind the head unit on a 1998 XJ Cherokee) to power Kicker KS components.

Super easy install and allows the component speakers to play clear and loud up to the loudest volume level I'd ever want to listen to music with no distortion. Didn't compare the sound quality with only the head unit powering the components, so can't quantify the difference to someone wanting to add the KTP-445 after only using an internal amp from a head unit.

I had a previous system with 100W RMS per channel and JL components and can't honestly say that system was any better than the KTP-445 with the Kicker KS components. Considering the price, ease of installation, and stealth installation location I'd recommend this unit to anyone but the most critical audiophile.

Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed this amp in my 2007 Dodge Dakota club cab and it sounds fantastic. It's wired up to the Alpine CDE-103BT CD receiver and is driving 4 Alpine SPS-600C 6-1/2"/6-3/4" 2-way Component speakers. This little amp drives these speakers clean and loud at well over 100 db. If you want hard hitting, thumping bass you will need to add a sub or two. I'm running a a pair of older JL Audio W3V2's (wired in series) in a sealed box driven by a vintage Crutchfield 4x75 watt amp bridged. To get the most out of this amp you will need some decent speakers and they need to be installed properly, do a little research on the Crutchfield site for helpful advise.

Little amp packs great performance

Written By IJC, San Francisco, CA on Monday, August 01, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, off, this is not the amp you want if you're looking to impress the guys down the street who blast their stereos with thumping bass and loud music. This is more for the guy who wants clean, decent sound without too much installation hassle. The unit's small size means you can mount it in your dash (or anywhere else if you have the spare wire). The KPT-445 Power Pack made my stereo sound much cleaner and crisper. I could hear the nuances of the music and the sound imaging was over all much-improved. In my case the Power Pack is connected to an Alpine CDA-105 head unit. The speakers I use are Infinity Reference 6030cs (Fronts) and Infinity Reference 6032si (rears). Installation was very easy since the head unit I have is an Alpine. The amp's harness plugs right into the head unit with no additional work. (I've read on various forums that other consumers have used this same mini-amp on non-Alpine head units with a little bit of wire-splicing.) If you have limited space, limited budget and you want cleaner, more defined sound - this amp is great!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this little unit to complement my Alpine CDE-102 receiver, and it really made a huge difference in how clear the sound is. This amp is pushing a set of Infinity Kappa 60.9 6.5 inch component speakers in the front doors, and a set of Infinity Kappa 693.9i 6x9s in the back deck. There is a not a huge difference in loudness, but the music sounds much more detailed now, and I can crank the volume all the way up to 33 without any distortion! Now I can roll the windows down and hear the music clearly without harshness. This little unit really enabled my full range speakers to balance nicely with the two Rockford Fosgate 10s and amp (also from Crutchfield) that I am running in the trunk. I HIGHLY recommend this power pack, as installation was just like it says; plug and play! Way to go on this unit, Alpine!

Best route for an install with limited space and $$$

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This could not have been easier to install! I have done a few installations in my day, but I have never encountered an amp that was able to push this hard, yet be smaller than your actual head unit. I was unsure about how well this little guy was going to power these speakers, but honestly, it puts $300+ amps to shame! Sure its not a 100w x 4 amp but comparatively speaking, they do not sound too much different. Really they dont...For a control experiment, I tested out a 100W x 4 amp on the same set of speakers and the same alpine head unit and the quality of sound was not all that great because it makes the speakers unstable(sounds tinny). They were sure a heck of a lot louder, but honestly, why would they ever need to be? All you have to do with the KTP-445 is give your volume knob an extra turn and you are right there at the concert! In a ford ranger, I was able to simply tuck it away directly behind the Alpine head unit, and I was ready to enjoy some excellent sound quality at high volume levels. This is a perfect amp if you already have a huge sub enclosure and amp taking up the little space behind your seat and do not want to have to deal with wiring up another, further restricting what little storage space you previously had. Additionally, its cheap! Enough said! There is no other amp that can compete with its size and power. Buy this!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had my Alpine head unit and Polk speakers in my Ram truck for about 5 years and thought it sounded pretty good. I installed this little amp in about 30 minutes and it sounds like a whole different system. Everything about it sounds better, lows, mids, and highs. This is the best upgrade to the system for the dollars spent. Alpine should offer this as a standard system, I would have bought it from the get go.

Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack

This little amp is amazing! I took a chance and modded it to work with my
Kenwood head unit, which requires stripping and crimping enough wires to give
you a permanent hand cramp. After installing it, I was quite surprised at how
much additional volume and clarity I now have. It is by no means perfect; it does
introduce some background hiss at extremely high volumes, volumes you
shouldn't have it at anyway (only noticeable between tracks). It also takes a
moment to power on, and didn't remove the source head unit's distortion at high
dB EQ settings. Once I turned down the EQ slightly, the sound quality at all
volumes is quite amazing!

Very little difference

Written By F150 SC, Portland, OR on Thursday, March 10, 2011

I have been running the Alpine 9886 with the OE speakers in my truck for the last 2 years. I recently installed some nice (Focal) component speakers in the front and complimentary coaxials in the rear of the vehicle. The sound was amazing... everything was better but one thing became obvious, this system could benefit from more power. I don't listen to music at ultra high levels and, like many have said before, didn't want to go through the hassle of wiring a "real" amp into my truck. I didn't expect HUGE gains from this little amp or probably more correct, "booster" but thought more than doubling the RMS power would certainly help the sound. Well, it's almost unnoticeable. The biggest differences.... the volume used to basically run out at level 15 now it does at 17. Also, a noticeable "power-up" thud when turning the stereo on. If I had it to do all over again I would not purchase this product. Do yourself a favor and install a small D series amp from JL Audio, Alpine, or Kenwood. You get what you pay for in this case.

This little thing blew my mind. I was super suprized with the outcome of installing this bad boy. Matched with the CDA-105 HU its everything i was wanting and more. No distortion at all, even cranked! I have this in a 05 Scion Tc, and even with the stock speakers i feel like im in another car. I love it.
Totally worth ever penny. Crutchfield rocks!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I deceided to go with all Alpine components in my Jeep Wrangler. This amp was the last
thing i needed to install to have my system complete. The sound is terrific and this amp
makes everything crisp and clean, something my factory stuff never did. If you are planning
to use this amp to win competions, it may not be for you. I dont believe this will increase the
volume output like a conventional 1000 watt amp would, but it will deliver about 3 db more
with this amp. My system is plenty loud for me, but i was more interested in the quality of the
sound, not the loudness which is exactly what this amp will do. I was impressed enough that
my son recently ordered one for his Jeep. You cant beat the price for what this was intended
for. Thanks to my advisior Kramer for this recommendation, sure beats the time and hassle
of trying to wire up a conventional amp.. I had this up and going in about 15 minutes with no
headaches on trying to run wires all over..THANKS to Alpine for making something so
simple. And yes, this only works for an Alpine system. I ve read alot of forums people trying
to rewire this for their stereo system, and most of them are having no luck in trying to figure it

100 Stars

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'd give it 100 stars if I could. This product is a revolutionary game changer due to ability
to easily, *very* easily, connect and hide in behind a random dash area - no need to
install an amp under seats or in trunk running wires all over the place. No need to even
splice wires - just connect and go - assuming Alpine HU of course. Not sure if it's
compatible with non-Alpine HU's though..? At 44 RMS, the punch satisfies average
listener very well. I combined one of these with four Polk 6.5's in doors, the smaller
Bazooka sub in the trunk and one of Alpine's better head units, and so for a relatively
small expense and install effort, I now have a system that normally would cost much
more in terms of install headache and cost. Of course my next statement will make die
hard audiophiles chuckle, but it's actually the finest sounding system I've ever had -
home or car.

I wasn't too sure when looking over the details of this unit as to what I could expect after
it was installed. After receiving and installing it, I can definitely say it was well worth the
money. It was definitely worth double the asking price. The highs, mids, and lows were
more punchy, crisp and clear, especially the mids. Everything sounded really "tight" if I
can describe it that way. It was literally a plug and play installation and there is plenty of
cable length to hook everything up out of the way. This is an incredible value and if you
can use it, definitely get it, even if you're happy with how everything sounds already.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack unit itself is very easy to hook up to my existing Alpine
CDA-9884, although the included instructions and online documentation showed some
crazy installation instructions for connecting an amplifier to your car's wiring harness and
battery. Basically, I removed the head unit, unplugged the existing harness and plugged
the KTP-445 to the head end, then the old harness to the other end of the KTP-445 - the
hardest part of the installation was hiding the wiring and the unit behind my truck's glove
The unit itself adds some much needed punch (not a whole lot, but enough) to the output
(basic Pioneer TS-G series speakers). I like to drive with the windows open, and this
little unit provided a great way to overcome wind noise without distorting the sound. I
really didn't want a huge power amp.

The title says it all! It took me 30 minutes to put this in my 2004 Tacoma. It matched up with my Alpine BT103 perfectly. It was soooooooo easy to install. I was able to tuck it under the a/c vents above the a/c controls.

For the money and ease of use you can't beat it

Written By brackforce, Fayetteville, NC on Monday, September 06, 2010

I replaced the factory system in my 07 Sierra with a CDE-103BT, SPS-600Cs in the front doors, and SPS-600s in the rear doors. The difference was already amazing, but I wanted a little extra thump and high volume clarity so I decided to look into amps. I remembered from my high school days of installing amplifiers that it could be a pain to run extra battery cables and speaker wires through door holes and under molding so I wasn't sure if I wanted to take on the job, but found out about this amp through a little research. It was a breeze to install. Just plug the wiring harness into the amp then the amp into the head and you're done. It has plenty of wire length and isn't too big so I was able to put it behind the glove box and run the wires into the head over the air conditioning duct. For the price and ease of installation (it took about 5 minutes, literally) you can't beat this amp. It's not a huge difference in sound quality, but it's definitely noticeable. I was able to turn the bass up more and can crank the volume without distortion to a level beyond what I will be normally listening to. The highs will really scream, too, if you turn the treble up a notch or two. I highly recommend this amp if you aren't running a sub, need a little extra oomph, and don't want to spend all day (or pay) for installation.

Easy Upgrade

Written By Rick, New Berlin, NY on Thursday, July 29, 2010

Simple to install, the plug and play was as described. Am using with Alpine 9887 head unit in my 2004 Ford Ranger 4 door cab. It can push my stock speakers far beyond what they can handle, so I will have to upgrade speakers to get upper power sound quality (oem speakers won't handle the bass). Low to almost mid range power has good sound quality for mids and highs. For what it is, this little amp can just about deafen me in the drivers seat, I have turned it up a few times to see, but I'm sure that small cubic feet and good acoustics in the cab help. But still, the amp is no joke, it does work well for it's small size. I would recommend this for any Alpine head unit users for a hassle free power upgrade.

I got this in addition to the Alpine CDE-102 to get some more power without having to deal with the hassle of wiring an external amp. I also ordered speakers but decided to first run with the new receiver and power pack to hear the difference. The stock speakers now sounded much better compared to before. While the receiver deserves the credit for making the 15w oem speakers sound better, the volume noticeably could now also be cranked up much louder which is thanks to the added wattage this plug and play power pack. Great product and would highly recommend!

Well I just purchased this item today and the only thing I don't like about it is that has

more clear at higher volumes. If you want better sound quality this is the way to go.

High quality product. Super easy to install, it took only 15 minutes. I have it set up with an alpine cde-102, alpine type s 5X7s and there is a huge difference. I need a new amp for my subs to keep up! My next purchase will be dynamat though, at loud volumes there is excess noise of the speakers working.

The best part about it is the easy installation.

Easiest Amp You'll Ever Install!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you own an Alpine head unit, and are looking to get a little more power than the 18-20
watts RMS provided by the internal amp, but don't want the complications of a 4-channel
amp install, the KTP-445 Head Unit Power Pack may be just what you need. It's
compatible with all Alpine head units manufactured since 2005 that have the black
wiring harness.

It's the easiest amp you'll ever install!

Adding 45 watts RMS per channel is as easy as plugging in two cables. No amp wiring
kits, no running wires, no complicated adjustments. Just unplug the cable from your
Alpine compatible head unit, plug the male harness from the KTP-445 into the head unit
and the female harness into your vehicle factory harness adapter. The unit itself is small
enough to fit behind the radio. The unit gets power, ground, and signal inputs from the
existing wiring, amplifies the audio and outputs it through the same wiring. If the vehicle
radio fuse is too small, there is a separate power wire. I just used the plug-in
connections, and so far everything works great. No blown fuses.

Best of all, it's priced as low or lower than many 2-channel amps.

this is a very simple easy way to up the power in you ride, its plug and play. if you dont want to spend the day running wires then this is for you. this unit adds a liitle power but not what i expected im sure it cuz of the line imputs. i would recomend this product to any one with limited space or know how. but if you want adjustability this unit is not for you it has only a 2 position switch for the gain high or low. thats why i give it a 4 and not a 5. the quality is very good after all it is alpine, i have been impressed with alpine for 10 years now i still have a cda 9813 and a cda 9815 that still work and i just keep transfering from truck to truck.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Yes it is true this is not something you would put in and expect to win a
competition. Anyone who says this isn't good is crazy! Highs are better and bass
is much better. This does the job well, gets over the lower power of the head
unit and gives just enough power the speakers don't distort at higher volume,
suppose the extra power needed for clarity at high volume levels is what this
was specifically designed for. Note it is not supposed to act like a sub amp at
all, just additional power so those that give it a bad review for that know
nothing about car electronics.
I have a CD-105 head unit and Boston Acoustics 6X9 in the rear deck and Boston
Acoustic 5X7 in the front door. Now my outside mirrors shake when the bass hits
and I will likely take any sub woofer purchase out of future consideration. Yes
I know the speakers are good but they got better after the unit was installed.
A couple of notes.
1. This does plug directly into the wiring. No modification to install, only
what is needed for the head unit and it goes in between the unit and the whole
assembly with no other wires bypassing at all.
2. The wires are long enough the unit can be stuffed somewhere away from the
head unit or mounted in a space with more area, like the glove box or possible
under a center console depending on how far it reaches under the dash.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wasn't really expecting much from this unit since it would only be powering 4"s in the dash and 6 1/2's in the back of my 4runner. This little magic brick blew me away.

First of all, this was the first time i've done anything to the car except for replacing speakers. Even for me, it was incredibly easy. Had to call crutchfield to find out which wire to splice for constant power, and they were extremely helpful as usual. Shoved all the wires and amp behind the head unit, and I was good to go.

Noticed the difference immediately. This is my first experience with car amplifiers of any kind and all i can say is wow, every car needs one. Sound was crisp, didn't distort at all even up to high volumes...I don't know how I lived without this. After the install I sat in my car just listening to songs and my ears thanked me for making this purchase.

If your speakers are powered by your head unit alone right now, do yourself and everyone else in the car a favor and get this. You won't be disappointed.

Easy upgrade for more power

Written By Chris, Indiana on Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Added this in with a CDE-102 head unit. You could hear the difference in mid-bass at lower volumes. It definitely improved the overall richness of the sound at regular volumes (currently with stock speakers).

Pros: Easy install....20 minutes, cheap, solid performance, great way to upgrade without cutting/rewiring everything.

Cons: A tad bit more background noise (since it uses speaker level inputs), really only noticeable between tracks, etc.......not noticeable when playing music.

Overall: Unless you compete, this is a no-brainer to add in with your alpine head unit. Just make sure you check the fuse size on your audio circuit in the vehicle. Must be 15 amps (mine was already).

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I first imprinted my CDA-9887 I noticed that I needed to turn the volume up
louder than I did before I imprinted. This left me wanting to install an
separate amplifier. I gave the KTP-445 a try hoping it would fill the power
void left after the imprint. This unit does seem to give the overall sound more
punch, however I would not classify the change as dramatic. The positives: Low
Price, Easier to install than another amplifier, fits right behind the dash with
plenty of wire for flexibility in the install. The negatives: Sound
improvement was not dramatic, if your vehicles radio circuit is not rated at
15amps (In my Honda Accord it was only 10 amps) you need to run a wire from the
battery and a new ground seemingly defeating the purpose of getting this unit in
the first place. The 9887 also has a noise suppressor with a 10amp fuse on the
constant (yellow) power wire. I had to contact tech support and find out if it
was safe to replace this fuse with a 15amps fuse. I also noticed a distinct
turn-on thump sound after this unit was installed.

For the amount of work I had to do to install this unit, I don't feel it was
worth the effort for such a subtle improvement to the overall sound. For
someone who can simply plug and play without running wires, this is a much
better deal.
