Easy upgrade for more power
Written By

Added this in with a CDE-102 head unit. You could hear the difference in mid-bass at lower volumes. It definitely improved the overall richness of the sound at regular volumes (currently with stock speakers).
Pros: Easy install....20 minutes, cheap, solid performance, great way to upgrade without cutting/rewiring everything.
Cons: A tad bit more background noise (since it uses speaker level inputs), really only noticeable between tracks, etc.......not noticeable when playing music.
Overall: Unless you compete, this is a no-brainer to add in with your alpine head unit. Just make sure you check the fuse size on your audio circuit in the vehicle. Must be 15 amps (mine was already).

Bought this for my sons birthday. Excelent item and very well worth the money. If you need more power you will need to spend more $$$$. Worked great.

Nothing to write home about

When I first imprinted my CDA-9887 I noticed that I needed to turn the volume up
louder than I did before I imprinted. This left me wanting to install an
separate amplifier. I gave the KTP-445 a try hoping it would fill the power
void left after the imprint. This unit does seem to give the overall sound more
punch, however I would not classify the change as dramatic. The positives: Low
Price, Easier to install than another amplifier, fits right behind the dash with
plenty of wire for flexibility in the install. The negatives: Sound
improvement was not dramatic, if your vehicles radio circuit is not rated at
15amps (In my Honda Accord it was only 10 amps) you need to run a wire from the
battery and a new ground seemingly defeating the purpose of getting this unit in
the first place. The 9887 also has a noise suppressor with a 10amp fuse on the
constant (yellow) power wire. I had to contact tech support and find out if it
was safe to replace this fuse with a 15amps fuse. I also noticed a distinct
turn-on thump sound after this unit was installed.
For the amount of work I had to do to install this unit, I don't feel it was
worth the effort for such a subtle improvement to the overall sound. For
someone who can simply plug and play without running wires, this is a much
better deal.

Saved my ears

I absolutely love this product, it took my very expensive Alpine iva 505 (which was
whoafully underpowered ) and made it great. I don't know how anyone who is thinking of
buying a Alpine iva 505 couldn't include this little miricle maker in their purchase. If
Alpine had not made this powerpack at such a low pricepoint I would have returned the
head unit. You can't beat it for the money.

Excellentness

The Alpine ktp-445 is an excellent product that does exactly what is meant to do at a fraction of the price and time investment of similar 4 channel amplifiers. Mine installed in no time at all and now pushes my Alpine S series components to greater heights and balances the rest of my system excellently with my boston acoustics g5 12" sub. This amp is easily one of the best investments anyone could make.
