Yes you do need an amp for your speakers

Amps are not for subs alone. Each time I have installed a stereo system in a new
vehicle I have always decided to save the money and skip the amp for the speakers. It
wasn't until I finally shelled out the money for this little amp that I found out how much I
have been missing. I have Kappa 682.9cf 5"x7"/6"x8" speakers installed and I couldn't
believe the difference in sound quality. This amp has also allowed my speakers to keep
up with the subwoofer. It is amazing how much better your system will respond at high
volume. I recommend setting aside around 5 hours for installation if you are going to
replace speaker wire for all four speakers. If you are running two amps or intend to in
the future I highly recommend the Rockford Fosgate multi amp install kit.

very good little amp

Today, I successfully installed this amp on my wife's 2008 Ford Focus. Even though, I am using the factory radio, with two pairs of Polk 6822 speakers, it sounds awesome. My wife has tested the sound and admits that it is an outstanding improvement over the factory amp that came with the car. She is very, very happy with it. I want to thank Crutchfield's Technical Support for trying to assist me on trying to figure the wiring for this car but unfortunately they were unable to assist me due to not having data for this stupid car but this is not the fault of Crutchfield. So, it took me about four hours to complete it since I had to do much searching finding a accessory wire to connect the remote on/off wire for the amp.
If you have a 2008 Ford Focus, and you do not know exactly what you are doing, please Do Not Attempt to installed it yourself since it is very, very, difficult.

Great 3 channel Amp

This amp produces clean power and sounds great. It is powering 2 Polk 6 1/2"s and an 8" Rockford Fosgate P1 sub. I have the sub gain turned on about a quarter of a turn as it really pushes the sub with plenty of power. (bridged - 150 watts). The speakers are running at gain set at half and they have plenty of power and sound great over the subs solid bass. This amp hasn't gotten hot on me after hard use. Very happy with how it sounds.

Decent amp
Written By

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a good bang for the buck amp. But as with other entry level Alpine amps I've owned in the past, it falls short of exceptional. I am running 2ohm speakers, and the gains must be used very carefully to achieve decent sound quality. A little too much and things get ripe. It's also a bit disappointing SPL-wise given the 75 watt rms rating at 2 ohms. I've owned 25 watt top shelf amps that were more impressive. Given the price, I think it's a decent amp. Just don't expect miracles at this price. You get what you pay for.
