Our take on the Alpine MRP-M450

Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Outstanding audio performance — you expect it when the amp is an Alpine. Alpine's V-Power amplifiers supply the high level of performance you want without shaking loose too much of your hard-earned cash.

The MRP-M450 mono subwoofer amplifier will power your subwoofer with 220 watts of power. Add a second sub and the MRP-M450 pumps out 400 watts of power — enough to get almost any car shaking. The variable low-pass filter adjusts the frequency output to match your system, while the Bass EQ lets you dial in some extra boost on the lows. A subsonic filter eliminates inaudible, ultra-low bass notes for cleaner output.

The amp's machined-metal heatsink keeps the internal parts cool and distortion low even when you're cranking the volume. Gold-plated screw terminals and RCA connections resist corrosion that can degrade signal performance.

Features
Inputs and Outputs

Features

Power Supply: The MRP-M450 amplifier's power supply uses MOSFETs to convert DC battery voltage to the higher DC voltages needed for high power. It supplies positive and negative voltages around 0V, rather than around 6V as with conventional single-polarity power supplies. The result is higher power levels and a dynamic range wider by as much as 10dB.

Low Pass Filter: The amp is equipped with a 50-200Hz variable low-pass filter with a slope of 24dB/octave.

Subsonic Filter: This amp utilizes a 15Hz subsonic filter to eliminate super low frequencies that can rob power and damage speakers. The subsonic filter operates at all times, and cannot be turned off.

Bass EQ: The Bass EQ circuit provides a boost of 0-12dB at 50 Hz.

Inputs: The amplifier offers both line-level and speaker-level inputs for 2 channels. The supplied speaker-level input harness allows you to connect this amplifier to a receiver without preamp outputs, either aftermarket or factory.

Terminal Covers: The amp comes with two plastic covers that protect and insulates the RCA, power, and speaker connections. Four supplied machine screws attach the covers to the amplifier.

Inputs and Outputs

Left Side Of Amplifier:

  • GND (ground): Gold-plated terminal strip, 0.35" wide
  • Battery: Gold-plated terminal strip, 0.35" wide
  • Remote: Gold-plated terminal strip, 0.35" wide
  • Speaker Output: Gold-plated terminal strips for 1 speaker, 0.35" wide

Right Side Of Amplifier:

  • Line Inputs: 1 pair of gold-plated stereo RCA jacks
  • Speaker Level Input: Molex plug input for supplied 8-pin harness

Alpine MRP-M450

Written By , elkhart,IN on Thursday, October 14, 2010

I had this amp pushing a pair of Mtx 6000 thunders that are 250rms. And it sounded great. But I'm more of a deep breath takeing bass head my self so I hooked them up to a pair of 15 rockford P2. Now both the 10in Mtx's and the 15in rockford's are 250rms and 500peak. But the alpine could not keep the same constint bass with the 15's as it did with 10's so in all great amp for 10's. But not for 15's. Still good amp for the price..

Great Amp

Written By Steve, Surfside Beach, SC on Thursday, November 13, 2008

Great Amp. It's running two MTX Thunder 4500's in a sealed enclosure at 4 ohms. It's pushing some serious low end, and is barely breathing. Very good amp.

High Quality Bass Amp for Bargain Price

Written By Ronald, Chicago, IL on Thursday, November 06, 2008

I recently installed an Alpine MRP-M450 amp in my 2008 Subaru WRX. I'm
using it to power a dual voice-coil 10" Bazooka bass tube. I'm also using
an Apline MRP-F250 to power my mids and highs. For the price, the MRP-
M450 is a pretty sweet little bass amp. I'm running both 4 ohm voice coils
on my Bazooka tube in parallel, presenting a 2 ohm load to the Alpine amp.
It handles the load like a champ, putting out plenty of clean, well-controlled
bass. It also runs fairly cool considering that I'm using it to drive a 2 ohm
load. I'm very pleasantly surprised at the power of this amp. I have an
Alpine PDX.1000 mono amp running two Alpine Type-S 10" subs in small
sealed enclosures in my other car and I have to say that the combination of
the MRP-M450 and 10" DVC Bazooka compares very favorably for a lot less
money. Of course the MRP-M450 and Bazooka tube take up a lot more
space, so that's the major tradeoff. If you have the room in your
trunk/hatch for a larger, more efficient sub, the MRP-M450 can kick out a
surprising amount of bass for the money. If you have / need to run your
subs in a small sealed enclosure, then you might want to spend the extra
bucks for a more powerful bass amp to offset the lower efficiency of small
sealed subs. Otherwise, if you have a bit of room to spare, this is a killer
setup and an amazing value.

400 watts?

Written By Matthew, Mt.Pleasant,TN on Monday, July 21, 2008

The amp looks good. The size is great, but 400 watts? If you are running it
2 ohms and have 14.4 volts at the amp.......mabey. I am running it on 2 10"
fosgate P1's- in a qlogic 1.25/side slot port box. The gain is max, the eq
boost is max and the subs sound like they are starving for power. Mabey I
got a lemon. First Alpine amp bought, last Alpine amp bought.
