Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Outstanding audio performance — you expect it when the amp is an Alpine. Alpine's V-Power amplifiers supply the high level of performance you want without shaking loose too much of your hard-earned cash.

The MRP-M450 mono subwoofer amplifier will power your subwoofer with 220 watts of power. Add a second sub and the MRP-M450 pumps out 400 watts of power — enough to get almost any car shaking. The variable low-pass filter adjusts the frequency output to match your system, while the Bass EQ lets you dial in some extra boost on the lows. A subsonic filter eliminates inaudible, ultra-low bass notes for cleaner output.

The amp's machined-metal heatsink keeps the internal parts cool and distortion low even when you're cranking the volume. Gold-plated screw terminals and RCA connections resist corrosion that can degrade signal performance.

Note: Sorry, Crutchfield cannot ship Alpine products to Guam or Puerto Rico.

My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

Alpine MRP-M450

Written By Anonymous, elkhart,IN on Thursday, October 14, 2010

I had this amp pushing a pair of Mtx 6000 thunders that are 250rms. And it sounded great. But I'm more of a deep breath takeing bass head my self so I hooked them up to a pair of 15 rockford P2. Now both the 10in Mtx's and the 15in rockford's are 250rms and 500peak. But the alpine could not keep the same constint bass with the 15's as it did with 10's so in all great amp for 10's. But not for 15's. Still good amp for the price..

High Quality Bass Amp for Bargain Price

Written By Ronald, Chicago, IL on Thursday, November 06, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently installed an Alpine MRP-M450 amp in my 2008 Subaru WRX. I'm
using it to power a dual voice-coil 10" Bazooka bass tube. I'm also using
an Apline MRP-F250 to power my mids and highs. For the price, the MRP-
M450 is a pretty sweet little bass amp. I'm running both 4 ohm voice coils
on my Bazooka tube in parallel, presenting a 2 ohm load to the Alpine amp.
It handles the load like a champ, putting out plenty of clean, well-controlled
bass. It also runs fairly cool considering that I'm using it to drive a 2 ohm
load. I'm very pleasantly surprised at the power of this amp. I have an
Alpine PDX.1000 mono amp running two Alpine Type-S 10" subs in small
sealed enclosures in my other car and I have to say that the combination of
the MRP-M450 and 10" DVC Bazooka compares very favorably for a lot less
money. Of course the MRP-M450 and Bazooka tube take up a lot more
space, so that's the major tradeoff. If you have the room in your
trunk/hatch for a larger, more efficient sub, the MRP-M450 can kick out a
surprising amount of bass for the money. If you have / need to run your
subs in a small sealed enclosure, then you might want to spend the extra
bucks for a more powerful bass amp to offset the lower efficiency of small
sealed subs. Otherwise, if you have a bit of room to spare, this is a killer
setup and an amazing value.

400 watts?

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The amp looks good. The size is great, but 400 watts? If you are running it
2 ohms and have 14.4 volts at the amp.......mabey. I am running it on 2 10"
fosgate P1's- in a qlogic 1.25/side slot port box. The gain is max, the eq
boost is max and the subs sound like they are starving for power. Mabey I
got a lemon. First Alpine amp bought, last Alpine amp bought.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great amp for the money. I'm currently running it on the speaker input and it works great, also let me say that i not disappointed at all with it. I have it running a Pioneer TS-W307D4 on a sealed box, about 1/4 of the gain up and it hits every note the way its suppose to. If someone is having trouble with the amp its probably because you did something wrong.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

judging by the reviews i was expecting good amounts of bass with good class D efficiency but the output was not what i had hoped for. Seemed like half output so maybe it was a defective. But also i was hoping for richer, more reverberating bass since it was an alpine but it sounded like a thud on a wall. Seems like kenwoods have better bass than my eclipse head unit (at the loss of mid and upper vocal clarity) but i had put my non fading preouts on mono and used a rca y splitter but no difference. really disappointed.

Best Amp. for the money

Written By Michael, Akron, OH on Friday, July 04, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this Amp. running a Kicker 12" enclosed truck subwoofer, rated at 400 watts rms also. This amp matches this sub perfectly. There's absolutely no concerns about heat; even after playing the amp loud for hours, it's still room temp. The accuracy is impeccable. If I'm playing something that pounds, it hits hard. If I'm playing a live CD, the bass suites the sound you would expect to hear from a concert. This amp has more than enough power in reserve to drive just about any sub. And for the price, it's the best buy I've ever come across. If there are any of the 4 channel 40 X 4 amps left at the same price in a month or so, I'll buy one
just to have it.

I bought this amp just under a month ago and wow! I hooked them up to my 2 old MTX Thunder
4500(450 Max ea.) wired parallel into 2 OHMS and I barely had the gain and boost up off of zero and it was incredibly clean, loud and deep! Now I hooked the amp to two alpine type e 12" subs also wired
parallel into 2 OHMS and it is too much for my trunk too handle at loud volumes!(rattling..another
project lol) Still sounds clean, loud, and deep. It
doesn't even get hot after hours of play, barely warm. I would like to know though how much max
power is estimated at 2 ohms. DEFINITELY would
recommend this Amplifier to Anyone!

Name Brand quality expected and delivered. This amp was an excellent buy, you get what you expect. No problems with it at all in any condition. I play music the loudest I can all the time for hours while driving and performance remains excellent. Pushes at peak power levels easily, even for extended time. Makes my sub hit clean and hard, you'd think it was pushing at twice the power. You will be making a safe decision by buying this, and a great investment.

was worried that the large size of my car would be too much for the small
wattage, but it performs great. Totally recommend this product.

I was told by Crutchfield Customer service that this amp would Power my 2- 12" type E subs. and it does as it should. With my satalite receiver set at -0- on the bass, and with the amp all the way down, with the volume at 20, it vibrates the mirror. With the bass at -3- and the amp up only 20% of the way( where i leave it). The bass is massive. With teh bass at -9- and the volume at 15!!! the bass is just, how do i say? WAY TO DARN LOUD.... But the best part about it all is; how Clear and crisp the sound is.

Apline all the way!

the size, it is hidden real well behind the rear compartment door.

A Sweet Amp!!!
I have this amp hooked up to two 12" Alpine type E Subs and a Alpine CDA-9885. Its a lot louder if you only have 1 sub hooked up but I liked it when i hooked up my two. A little clearer bass. Because I live in Hawaii its always hot and humid so I needed an amp that would not overheat under hot weather. All in all its a great amp and I'm looking to put 1 in my brothers car soon.(and maybe a second one in mine)

This joker hits hard i have it hooked to (2)12" Kenwoods. But for me this is a match made in heaven the 2 ohm load is awesome ,I'm not even pushin' the amp hard and you can hear me tearin' up the ground for at least 300 yards away super clean too. My Kenwoods are in a 1.0cb/ft sealed box and all i can say, (with the assistance of a Kicker kx3 crossover) I now have two Gorillas tryin' to escape my trunk! Thanks Crutchfield, It's no mystery why you're #1,and have been on the cutting edge of electronics for 30years!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Recently, I bought this amplifier to replace an existing amplifier in my car. My stereo consists of an Eclipse CD-3100 headunit with Eclipse Sirius tuner and Auxiliary input, an Infinity 4-channel amplifier feeding 2 Infinity Kappa 5x7's in the front and 2 Infinity Kappa 6x9's on the deck. I had a Rockford 301s amp bridged to a DVC subwoofer in a custom ported box. What a difference when I simply upgraded to a better, MUCH better, amplifier. Unbelievable. Honestly. On the factory settings, which were at the minimum, there was MORE coming from the subwoofer than I thought was possible. The gain on the hu went from +6 to +2, and thats way more than I ever experienced with the old amplifier. If you want the best, this is it. Seriously.

Great Mono Amp

Written By Jason, Marysville, WA on Sunday, February 03, 2008

I've got this powering one Infinity Kappa 10" sub wired for a 2 ohm load and it absolutely pounds with ease. The sub is rated from 350w RMS to an astonishing 1400w max. (at 2 ohms) but I get the feeling that this amp could still do damage to it given full gains. It's quite powerful and does not get hot whatsoever. I like the subsonic filter feature which can protect your sub a lot when delivering thunderous amounts of bass. The unit also leaves a small footprint so it's easy to hide pretty much anywhere in your vehicle. Another great product from legendary amp builders.

Excellent amp. Installation was pretty easy for me (this was the first one I've ever installed). I use it to push a single Kicker Comp VR 07CVR104 10" Sub. They both work perfectly together. The single sub and amp produce plenty of bass, there is no reason for me to get two subs.

Written By Kenan, Morrison, IL on Thursday, May 10, 2007

I originally bought this amp back in the summer of '06. I hooked it up to push two Alpine E 12" subs. I DON'T recommend two subs for this amp. Hooking it up to one was LOUDER than the two put together. Recently switched vehicles and it now pushes a single 8" bazooka tube in my pickup. This thing hits! The amp is turned down quite a ways and so is the head unit. Very nice when hooked up to a DVC single sub.

Great amp for less!!

Written By Ray, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 19, 2006

I had my share of amps and for $200 this is a hard choice to pass I have it hooked up to a 12" 4 ohm DVC 500rms 1000 peak, I've hokked this sub up to alot of amps that friends have loaned me- (Rockford 500rmsover heated after 15 min.- Pioneer 900 watt fried it- AUDIOBAHN 800 mono and no good, and few others well take guess.) But for a quick inexpensive temperary amp it is the best power source yet - 220rms@4om 400rms@2ohm and I have this sub wired in 8ohm and is louder than most steros that most spends many hundreds to get. So please don't let anyone fool you, when you get it and are angry with it just try and recheck your set up or just play around with the turner nobs you'll see what I mean!!

I bought this amp to power two Kenwood KFC-2510 subs in parallel and they sound perfect. It's Class D circuitry also allows it to run cool even at mid-high volumes. I love it's small footprint because I was able to hide it just behind the spare tire making for a very clean install.

Now all I need is to buy tons of Dynamat to deaden the annoying rattling in the trunk area and somehow increase the sound quality even more.

Absolutely loathesome

Written By aaron, Lubbock, TX on Thursday, February 09, 2006

This piece might as well have been DOA. For something rated at 400w at 2 ohms, it sounded more like 50w at 8 ohms. I double checked all the wiring, thinking maybe something had been jarred loose, but everything was fine. I am running an SWR-1242D (the dual 4 ohm sub), and I have it wired to receive a 2 ohm signal from the amp. Unfortunately, I can beat on the dash and make more noise than this amp can deliver. A total waste of time and money . This is the first and last Alpine I will ever buy.

Inputs and Outputs

Power Supply: The MRP-M450 amplifier's power supply uses MOSFETs to convert DC battery voltage to the higher DC voltages needed for high power. It supplies positive and negative voltages around 0V, rather than around 6V as with conventional single-polarity power supplies. The result is higher power levels and a dynamic range wider by as much as 10dB.

Low Pass Filter: The amp is equipped with a 50-200Hz variable low-pass filter with a slope of 24dB/octave.

Subsonic Filter: This amp utilizes a 15Hz subsonic filter to eliminate super low frequencies that can rob power and damage speakers. The subsonic filter operates at all times, and cannot be turned off.

Bass EQ: The Bass EQ circuit provides a boost of 0-12dB at 50 Hz.

Inputs: The amplifier offers both line-level and speaker-level inputs for 2 channels. The supplied speaker-level input harness allows you to connect this amplifier to a receiver without preamp outputs, either aftermarket or factory.

Terminal Covers: The amp comes with two plastic covers that protect and insulates the RCA, power, and speaker connections. Four supplied machine screws attach the covers to the amplifier.

Inputs and Outputs

Left Side Of Amplifier:

  • GND (ground): Gold-plated terminal strip, 0.35" wide
