V-Power amplifiers deliver the sound quality that made Alpine famous. Highly efficient power supplies housed in sleek black casings guarantee that these amps stand out in performance and appearance. The thermal management system dissipates heat and saves power, so your V-Power amp will run reliably for years to come.

The Alpine MRP-M500 mono amplifier drives your subwoofer system with up to 500 watts RMS — enough to satisfy the hungriest bass setup. The low-pass filter puts you in command of the frequencies that reach your subs, while the variable bass boost is armed with plenty of low-end punch. A subsonic filter prevents wasted energy by eliminating ultra-low bass, putting all the power where you need it.

Preamp- and speaker-level inputs allow you to connect this amp in almost any vehicle. Let a V-Power amplifier transform the sound of your car's audio system.

Product Highlights:

  • mono subwoofer car amplifier
  • 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)
  • variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 24 dB/octave)
  • variable bass boost (0-12 dB at 50 Hz)
  • subsonic filter (15 Hz, 24 dB/octave)
  • Class D amp with MOSFET power supply
  • CEA-2006 compliant
  • STAR Topology (minimizes internal noise and prevents ground interference)
  • speaker- and preamp-level inputs
  • gold-plated screw terminals
  • fuse rating: 30A x 2
  • 8-gauge power and ground leads recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
  • 10-11/16"W x 2-7/16"H x 9-9/16"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

I wanted to like this amp....

Written by: Jonty from Texas on January 17, 2016

....I really did. It had such great reviews, 90%+ 5 star, and I like the alpine brnd. But I've been really unimpressed with the system we put into my teenagers 2003 maxima. It has just never sounded that good, and I couldn't figure out why. Nice alpine HU, strong pre-out voltage, lots of audio adjustments, alpine mono amp and 4ch amp, both from the same lineline, very well reviewed, good wiring, decent if inexpensive speakers, 6.5" certain Vega comp set in front, mtx 6.5" coaxial in back, 12" JL lower end Sub in a correct ported box. Simple but should be effective system. But no, it sounded thin and weak, no bass even with the gain, the bass boost, the sub setting, the bass setting all turned up. It was the same in a previous altima on a JVC HU. So just on a whim, I switched the MRP500 for a Rockford fosgate prime 300w sub amp. About the same price as the alpine, maybe cheaper, had it sitting around after an other aborted project. It is literally night and day different. Had to put all the settings back to normal range, and the JL is performing as I would have expected. I tried everything with the alpine, the phase, the filters, you name it. It was just weak. The RF kicks butt immediately. Now I'm looking to switch out the 4ch alpine for a RF Prime to make up the whole system. I can't understand all the 5 star reviews for the alpine, it just doesn't do the job. I gave it 2 stars for ease of installation, and no apparent alternator whine.

Pros: Easy to install, compact, no interference noise

Cons: Virtually no amplification. Rendered 12" JL sub almost useless. Similarly priced Rockford Fosgate Prime is at least 5x as good.

I've had this amp for 4 years now, never once has it overheated or had 1 single problem. I first had 2 10" alpine type E in a slant box in my s10 extreme single cab, it was the loudest system I've ever heard and won the subwoofer competition in Ocean City Maryland 2 years in a row competing against much more powerful systems. Since selling my truck I had it powering a fusion powerplant 12" in my scion tc rs 5.0, it hit incredibly hard like set off alarms. Now its hooked up in my Lexus is300 powering a 12" JBL since my fusion blew after 5 years, still hits incredibly hard with not 1 single problem. Best amp I've ever had and will never buy anything other than this line for amps. Ive driven cross-country with the bass pounding for 10+ hours solid and never once has it been anything but excellent.

Pros: Amazing power that works with any set up, great value, the most reliable amp Ive ever encountered.

Cons: None

Good quality amp overall

Written by: Snacks from Pennsylvania on February 2, 2015

I have this wired to the alpine swr-12d2.. The person I bought it from had the sub wired to the amp at 1 ohm. I ran it like that for about a day, and it really really hits at 1 ohm, but it's not stable, and would shut off at a high volume before the bass would even really start. So, being that I have a dvc 2 ohm sub, I can't wire this for the full 500 watts rms at 2 ohm, so I unfortunately had to wire it down to 4 ohms, which doesn't sound nearly as good at all. It doesn't "pound" or "slam" at 4 ohms like some say, not even close, and everything else in the car is Alpine also. I would recommend this, but not if you're gonna run it at 4 ohms. At 4 ohms, you miss out on alot of power. If you're planning on buying this amp, make sure you have 2 svc 4 ohm subs, or 1 dvc 4 ohm, so you can wire it down to 2 ohms to unleash this things full 500 watts rms potential. Also, it only accepts up to 8 gauge wiring, so if you have anything bigger installed in your vehicle like I do, you need spade connectors at least, or the distribution blocks. Overall though, it's a very solid good quality amp, and it's easy to install.

Pros: Good quality, easy to install and set-up, and it doesn't get hot or overheat at all.

Cons: The amp only accepts 8 awg wiring, which will be a pain to the normal everyday person if you don't have the right tools or accessories to hook it up.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub is a must have for those who desire just a little added depth to their music.

Simply put, it is easy to install and adjust for premium sound. The appearance is phenomenal and quickly turns into a show piece. I plan to order a 4ch Amp for the interior speakers and will be choosing Alpine as well. The two next to each other really will create a beautiful pair.

One item that could potentially be upgraded was the terminal for the main battery wire. The manual indicates that a 4AWG wire is recommended and I used a 6AWG obtained from a spare cut off the local hardware store. When going to install the wire onto the Amp terminal it became very difficult to do so. The terminal is quite small when trying to push the strands into place and crimp down on the terminal screw to keep them solidly in place.

Other than that one issue, which may have been more of installation issue on my part, this amp is extremely easy to use and I highly recommend it!

Pros: Easy Installation, Easy Adjustment, Value, Quality, Wonderful Sound

Cons: Terminal for Battery Wire too small

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a fantastic amp. Coupled with my 8 inch JL Audio Sub it provides a warm, round sound while still providing a powerful punch. It's also pretty. I have two very minor complaints. 1) the plastic around the screw holes is a little weak, so be careful not to tighten the screw to the point of cracking the plastic. 2) The rage of the LPF leaves a tiny bit to be desired, but I knew that at purchase.

Pros: Warm, round sound without sacrificing power. Easy to install/ connect. It's pretty.

Cons: plastic screw holes are a little weak.

I am happy with the amp. My plan was to install under the front seat, but it is so small that I had room to install under the back seat of my extended cab truck along with my box. It is driving two 10" speakers, wired in parallel. I am pleased with the clean sound that I am getting from my budget subwoofer setup. This amp gives a lot of bang for the buck.

This is also hooked to my factory stereo using the speaker level inputs. The only think I wish it had was the remote bass control knob. I have also replaced all my speakers with Infinity's. This is my third mono amp in the same truck and in the same power class. This is the first to dim my lights when it hits with the truck running (might need a cap with this one). It is impressive for $149. I have it wired to a JL10w3v3-2 pushing all 500 watts and it barely gets warm. I installed this amp in a 2012 ford f-150 super crew. The amp is pushing a phoenix gold 10" sub in a custom ported enclosure mounted under the driverside rear seat. The amp is mounted on the floor next to the sub box under the passenger side of the rear seat. This amp was an upgrade from the old mrp-m450 which was 400w rms @ 2ohms. The one hundred watts rms made a world of difference being the sub is a 500w rms @ 2ohms rated sub. The sub hits very clear and deep. i have that set paired with a mrp-f300 pushing 4 memphis 5x7" coax. door speakers. it is all coming off of the factory deck w/ line converters. For the price, size, and power you can not beet this amp nor the mrp-f300 trust me i shopped!!! Also just a little tip that i got from Crutchfield, if you are installing an aftermarket amp and you are looking for a way to hook up the remote wire you and get yourself a "add a fuse" or "add a circuit" locate a fuse in you panel that only turns on with the ignition and install it there and replace you fuse into the adaptor. Once installed you can use the wire that comes off the adaptor and run it to the remote on your amp. Thanks again Crutchfield your where a big help!!

Pros: good strong power

Cons: will not accept 4ga. power and ground so you will have to find some clips or just trim the wire to get a good fit

This is a great amp for the price. Pushes my Sundown SA-12 like there's no tomorrow. Amp gets hot, although I'm far above from the 600W rms

Pros: Compact design, efficient, and a good price in mind.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because I had to call tech support and get a replacement one sent out. One morning I go to start my car and my battery is dead. Had it checked out, and found out that the amp did not turn off when the keys were turned off or even when the remote wire was unplugged. Defective unit. Two days later I received a new one - working fine so far!

Pros: Compact size, perfect for my one 12" sub; customer support; shipping time is quick!

Cons: First one was defective?!

I picked up this amp to replace my aging Pioneer gm-x862 to run 2 JL Audio 10w0v3s. I've always been a fan of the clean, stable power of Alpine amps, and this amp is no different. The bass sounds crisper, deeper, and more full, and the small size is perfect for my application. If you're looking for good, solid power in a small package, look no further.

First Amp love the sound

Written by: Miller from Laurens, SC on May 19, 2013

This is my first amp and I couldn't ask for anything better. In my town most people think they have the best sound system, and I simple shut them down. I'm running two 10" Alpine type E's and they do justice. And thanks to crutchfield and friend of my that used to profesionaly install car auido. I was able to build an amazing soud system that didn't kill the bank. I tune the amp to 120 hz max, giving me lows without making the whole thing muddy. It's not only lound it's super clean. In fact most people think i'm running 12's with an amp twice the size. Soon i'm changing out my back 6 1/2's with Alpine type R's 6x9's, adding an 50 watt 4 channel amp. And a new head unit with two outputs for amps. Alpine really sold me with these products. Infact our local rogers sterio (that rips people off) haven't build bass this clean. Btw make box we build my hand with 3/4 inch MDF and fiberglassed and sealed the box completely shut. Makes a world of difference.

Pros: Clean deep bass, tons of power

Cons: I'm over powering my mid's and it's cleaner when tuned down two 100 hz

Keep rockin

Written by: Nate from Logan,WV on May 14, 2013

Where do I begin. Jvc deck,m500 amp, and type e alpine 10. I know I'm not using the amps full potential, but on budget I can buy another and bridge them down to 2 ohms. After 2 days(after work) of full throttle building, from the custom .55 cubic ft box to fit under the back seat of my f-150 to replacing factory speakers(pioneer 3-way) to wiring and installing the hu and amp. Finally I get to turn it on! 30 minutes of tuning and I'm in rock heaven. 2 hours of wide open punishment and the amp is cool,10is begging for more, and I have to retune the whole system. That did it, my rock is clean, crisp, and heard the way it was intended to be. Can't say how this setup sounds with any other type of music, but I can't imagine it would be bad. I am truly satisfied with crutchfield and the end product I have. Thank you!

Pros: Sound, price, style, the neighbors don't like it, the kick in the back when the bass hits, the duration it plays without that annoying fade

Cons: The install is done and that's half the fun

Great sound quality and build quality. Had the older model and loved it. There are two drawbacks I can find though. One, no remote bass level control. This would be a great improvement and very helpful. Two, no "automatic on" for high level input. I'm running this in my dodge magnum with the stock radio, it sounds great, but I had to find a way to turn it on and off through the factory wireharness and it wasn't easy.

Pros: Great power and sound

Cons: No remote level, no automatic on for high level inputs

I have this amp powering a 10'' Type R, this amp brought this sub to LIFE. Sound is clear, no distortion, my hu is a Kenwood X796 with 4v pre-amp, so it has plenty of signal to drive it. Driving the amp @ 2ohm, only gets warm after an hour of heavy use. Use 4 gauge leads, this thing likes juice.

Pros: clean power quality heatsink

Cons: size, fairly large for a 500 watt amp cheap speaker and pwr/grnd terminals blue light on amp is annoying in the cab of a truck (fixed that with a perm marker)

I've had this for a couple weeks now with 2 10 inch Polk audio dxi subs and it says 500 watts on here but I think it's actually 600. Because of how hard it hits and it's 300x2. I don't know how they got 500. But it's a great amplifier. Even though its fairly cheap for an amp it still preforms very well and meets all my expectations. Works perfect. Easily mounted and wired. Cons: Nothing so far. Only have had it working for a few weeks though. Great amp

I can say nothing negative about this amplifier! I've owned the amp for going on three years now and it's output is as strong as the first day of power up. (bench tested 2/30/13 @ 1 ohm load 590 @ 12v) I've had this beast running a 15" Memphis mojo at one time, I now have it running Two 10" dual 2 ohm Orion competition HCCA102. The amp has never clipped or heated up, I run the gain @ 2/4 power. bass boost 11db. crossover 50Hz. Like I said "Cheater Amp" If your responsible and don't abuse this amp it will not disappoint!

Pros: Runs stable @ 1 ohm. underrated power supply. reliable, trusty, honest amplifier.

Cons: none for the price!

Please don't let the price of this amp fool you. I promise you that you wont be disappointed. I just got it hooked up in my Honda Accord pushing two Pioneer 12's (400rms - 1400max) in a sealed box. I just wanted some nice sound for myself. I love BASS (always have) but I feel like i'm too old to be showing off and trying to turn heads... Well, this thing is way more powerful than I expected. I have the gain turned almost all the way down and at mid volume it is still dropping pretty hard. I was also able to get it hooked up so I can control it with the factory subwoofer control that was on my head unit. I would recommend this amp to anyone. I haven't had it in too long so if by chance my view changes over the next few weeks than I will update my review. But really, as of today... Save a couple hundred bucks and take a chance on this one. Especially if you are like me and wont be "hammering" it too often.

This is the perfect mono amp! I have this amp powering a Alpine Type-R 10" dual 4 ohm wired at a 2 ohm load in a ported box and love it! The amp is a small size and very light which make mounting great. I have it mounted directly to my rear fender well in my hatch and it small size and light weight made it easy to mount and is very secure. Great power and excellent SQ! No dimming lights and able to use 8 gauge power wire which is easier to run. I listen to all kinds of music and it all sounds great but, when you want bass, you got it! I'm afraid my rear view mirror might fall off sometimes! Control all this with a alpine CDE-122 and you have sub adjustability from 0 to 15 so you have alot of control over sub plus all the other awesome features alpine units have. Wont't go wrong with this amp! Love Alpine!

I looked it up on the net and several others have this same issue. I seriously recommend checking heavy into this amp before buying.Everythign I own from alpine keeps dying.I have jl audio speakers that are still working great, But my alpines died within the first year.My cousin blew his alpine subwoofers,I blew my speakers and my amp just blew, another kid i know blew his type r subs out.My amp was wired 4 ohm pushing 300 watts so it definately wasn't pushing to hard nor did it show signs of overheating.I strongly suggest to stay away from alpine unless you want a nice looking paperweight.

Pros: Good sound, lots of power and clarity.

Cons: Unreliable! Has a record with many people for dying randomly for no reason.

All parts for the order (bass box, speakers and amp) were received in good order. The sound quality of the Alpine amp and 10 in Alpine subs are first rate. I'm currently running a single kicker L3 10" sub off this amp and it sounds
great. The amp is more than enough for this sub. Put's out pretty clean power
and will not overheat if you run it properly. This is my second alpine amp and
I've had no problems from either one.

Got this as a package with the Alpine subs I purchased. I read about it from a
variety of places and everyone said it was a great unit for the price. So far I
have to agree. It seems to have the power to spare plus the ability to modify
things. It's worth checking out if you are looking to power a new sub like I did.

Excellent. Not much more I can add. I'm really picky about the quality of the

very good sound quality and has plenty of power for my sub. What else could you want
from a sub amplifier?

Wow, I just finished installing this alpine unit and I can't believe how it instantly
transformed my audio system. My low end has gone from loud and muddy to clean and
clear even with the headunit at near maximum volume. I never knew my single 12" kicker
could perform so well. I no longer feel the need to rebuild my entire system. This was
money well spent and I am finally satisfied.

2005 Ram Quad cab, purchased a custom box that fits under the back seat, dual 12" added Alpine 12" E series subs from Crutchfield. I had a Yamaha YPA 1000 running them, but the gain knob was losing contact and cutting in and out. Not having purchased a sub amp in a long time, I turned to Crutchfield, I was directed to this amp as a low cost high performance product.........Wow.......

This amp blew the doors off that old Yamaha, running at 2 ohms this amp is sick. Unless it prematurely fails, this is one brute and it is so small compared to my other amps, it fit right under the back seat behind the custom box no problem. Gain knobs are easy access. Very clean look.

Great but...

Written by: Anonymous from Houston, TX on April 19, 2010

The amp is decent, I managed to melt my Alpine E-type 12 4 ohm with it, (gotta remember to
check RMS). The only problem is it can't push my 2 new Kicker CompVR 12s. They are rated
for 800 watts RMS combined but when wired at 2 ohms the amp can't even push them. Well
it works fine for one at 4 ohms so I can't complain too much.

Factory head unit, pushing 2 15" Fosgate P1s in a sealed box. At first I had this pushing 1 15 because the box I received had one cracked chamber of the dual box. Even pushing 1 at 4 ohms was very respectable. When I received my new dual box and added the second 15, running them parallel at 2 ohms, the sound was deafening!! Every setting is at the factory preset and it will make your eyes rattle. Excellent amp!! Highly recommended!!!

Bought this and installed in my '08 altima sedan spare tire well running 2 elemental design's e3.6 6.5" subs (wired at 4 ohms) in a custom box. Running off an Alpine CDE-102 head unit. Used 8 ga for install.

Excellent power with no fluctuations. No heat issues at all with it running in the covered spare tire well. The amp doesn't even run warm to the touch after hours of use. An outstanding way to add low-end without using up much space (sub box is only 6" deep and 9" tall). Perfect for what I wanted while leaving pretty much all of my trunk usable.

I bought this amp around x-mas time to go along with 1 Boston Acoustics G21244.... and let me tell you that it hits hard. I got it giving out 300 RMS and it sounds great... Its a basic amp and it will handle most power needs... its efficient and has a small footprint which helps me still have some trunk space in my 06 accord coupe. Pros:

- This Alpine amp provides plenty of power to my ID10 sub. 300 watts x1 at 4ohms is great at this price point.

- Sounds clean and tight, no thumping at power on or power off. I'm guessing this is due to the subsonic filter.

- High-level inputs are a big plus. I simply tapped into existing speaker wiring in the car.

- Because the amp is fairly small, I was able to conceal it in the spare tire well in my trunk.

- The amp doesn't get hot during operation, even though it's under the trunk mat. Very impressive.

None that I've found.

This lil' monster is replacing an old Fosgate 125.2. This amp just pounds my 2 12" Alpines in a custom sealed enclosure. Very tight, crisp and just plain quality. I don't like the fact that the side covers do not hang down over the sides of the amp to cover the wires completely. I have a crossover that the remote Bass Control knob does not work any more. Not sure if it's the new amp or if the crossover is going out on me....
Bottom line, this amp is the shiznit, especially for the price.

I own an alpine CDA 9886 and have aftermarket alpine components. I previously had two sony xplod 12" subs run by a 800w 2ch sony amp. They blew out about after 5 months of use, so i decided to replace them with the mrp-m500 and two type E 12". The difference in the depth and clarity of the bass was surprisingly noticeable, with the sony's the bass was quite loud but it caused a ton of rattle and at very low notes would sound almost tinny. The alpine system produces far cleaner and more enjoyable bass. I would definitely recommend this amp as well as alpine products in general to anyone deciding on brands.

Great Amp!

Written by: Russ from Washington, DC on May 2, 2009

This amp is perfect for adding the missing low-end to your car audio system. It will also thump any good tune you throw at it if you are into that. I get very clean, tight bass from the Polk Audio 8" Dual Voice Coil Sub in a sealed enclosure. Bass, whether from an electric bass, string bass, bass drum, or synthesizer, reproduces perfectly. This amp will throw 500 watts at a DVC sub wired in parallel. Very nice! More than enough for me. My next step is getting my mounted enclosure and car to accept the pounding & vibes without adding some of their own to the mix.

I installed this only about a week ago, but it seems to run very efficiently, not much heat, even though I do have it in a tighter space than recommended. Looks great, too. Controls & installation are straight-forward. You will want to tune it for your setup. It was a little anemic for me straight out of the box, but it sounds great once adjusted.

Good, Small Sub Amp

Written by: tower from Houston, TX on November 21, 2008

You wouldn't think an amp this small and cheap could push some subs, but rest assured it can. For those discouraged about "only 500W", bear in
mind that is RMS power, and most entry-level subs (Alpine Type-S, JL W1, Boston G1, etc) can only handle up to 300W RMS. The chassis is identical to the MRP-F300 4ch amp, and includes end covers to hide your connections and settings for a cleaner install. Note that this amp is NOT 1ohm stable, so if you're dealing with multiple subs or dual voice coils, make sure you wire them right or this amp will shut down in a hurry.

Pros:

Cons:

Small. Powerful. Consistent

I've owned this amp for some time now and am in love with it. It supplies so much power to my sub. When I first had it installed i had to turn it down because it had so much power. This amp says its supplies 500 watts rms at 2 ohms and it does just that without overheating and cutting out after a good hour of getting a beat down. It continues to perform at a high level that alpine has always lived up to. Heck Yeah :-)

Written by: buhusky2000 from Scranton, PA on August 21, 2008

I just recently had this installed in my blazer along with a Boston Acoustics G1 12" sub in a sealed box. I am highly impressed with the amount of power this puts out and the fact that it's black blends in perfectly with the color of my cargo area: much harder to see thru tinted windows. Mounted on the rear passenger cargo area, it was wasted space but not anymore. The only item that had me leaning toward the JL Audio Amp was a remote bass hookup, which the Alpine doesn't have. My installer, wired one up with RCA Plugs, and I have never looked back. Would buy another in a heart beat...Great Stuff at a Great Price
