Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Compact powerhouse

Alpine was thinking about versatility when they built their V-Power Series MRV-F300 4-channel amplifier.

  • In 4-channel mode, it delivers 50 watts RMS to each of your car's front and rear speakers, making for some sweet sound on your drive.
  • You can also run this amp in 3-channel mode, powering a subwoofer with 150 watts RMS while driving a pair of full-range speakers with 50 watts each.
  • Or, if you need a good amp for bass, you can switch the amp to 2-channel mode and send up to 150 watts RMS each to a pair of subwoofers.

You can always find a place for this amp in your system, and Alpine made this amp so small — 40% smaller than the previous model — it can fit almost anywhere.

Thermal protection without annoying shut-downs

The MRV-F300 uses a technology called Enhanced Shutdown Performance, which rolls back the output a bit when the amp threatens to overheat from playing at its limits too long. Instead of shutting down completely, it continues playing your music, until it cools enough to return to full power.

Convenient features

High- and low-pass filters put you in command of the frequencies that reach your speakers, while a bass boost lets you apply some extra low-end punch. The amp includes preamp- and speaker-level inputs, so you can install it in almost any vehicle, even one with a factory radio. If you're using the speaker-level inputs, the amp senses an incoming signal and turns itself on, eliminating the need to run a turn-on wire back to your vehicle's receiver or fusebox. If you're a tweaker, you'll appreciate the end-piece terminal covers that can be snapped in and out without the need for any tools.

Features

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N) over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Alpine MRV-F300 is rated as follows:

  • Power Output:
    • 4Ω: 50 watts x 4-channels (<0.08% THD+N)
    • 2Ω: 75 watts x 4-channels (<0.1% THD+N)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 81 dBA (98 dB at rated power)

Bridgeable: Both the front and rear sections of the MRV-F300 are bridgeable, so it can be used as a 4-channel, 3-channel, or 2-channel amp.

Note: When bridging the amp, Y-adapters should be used to feed identical signals the channels to be bridged together.

Speaker Level Input: A speaker level input harness is included, making it easier to add the amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs. The 8-pin harness has inputs for front and rear speakers.

Auto Turn-on: If using the speaker level input, an automatic circuit turns the amplifier on when it senses an input signal.

Controls: The front and rear sections of the amplifier (labeled Channel 1/2 and Channel 3/4) have independent gain and crossover controls. Channel 3/4 also adds a Bass EQ switch:

  • Channel 1/2:
    • Gain: rotary dial; continuously variable from 200mV-4V using the preamp inputs or 500mV-10V using the speaker level inputs
    • Crossover Mode: three position switch; Off (full range), High Pass, or Low Pass
    • Crossover Frequency: rotary dial; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz
  • Channel 3/4:
    • Gain: rotary dial; continuously variable from 200mV-4V using the preamp inputs or 500mV-10V using the speaker level inputs
    • Crossover Mode: three position switch; Off (full range), High Pass, or Low Pass
    • Crossover Frequency: rotary dial; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz
    • Bass EQ: two position switch; On/Off; adds +12dB boost centered at 50 Hz

Connections:

  • Battery: set screw terminal; accepts up to 8 gauge wire
  • Remote: set screw terminal; accepts up to 8 gauge wire
  • GND (ground): set screw terminal; accepts up to 8 gauge wire
  • Speaker Outputs: four pair of set screw terminals; accept up to 10 gauge wire
  • Line Inputs: 2 pair of stereo RCA jacks
  • Speaker Level Input: Molex plug input for supplied 8-pin harness

Note: Alpine recommends 8 gauge power and ground wire (minimum).

mrv-f300 blue light stays on, it's connected to the head units blue white stripe remote lead? Shouldn't that light be off when cars off?
david  Sep 02, 2018

A
To my knowledge it should only be lit up if the radio is on but if completely powered down you should see nothing ! Check your settings on the radio and make sure you don't have a bypass switch to the amp on , double check wiring then try unplugging the blue white wire if all fails send back get a new one they are great amps never had a days problem with mine !
matthew b  Sep 03, 2018
A
Im not sure I had a shop do the install
bardia  Sep 02, 2018
A
Yes that night should be off. Verify that the remote lead for your car is that wire. If it is that wire, could possibly be a bad unit. The light status on for a second or two after the car is off, due to capacitors. Not long though, it should be off if car is off.

Q
Can I run 2 channels unbridged for now, and add a sub later? Will running 2 channels only change the watt output, as I will be hooking up 75 watt 2 ohm speakers and don't want to over power them?
marc  Jul 12, 2018
1 answer
A
You can run 2 channels for now without hurting the amp. That does not change the watts and those 2 ohm speakers of yours will still get 75 watts RMS each! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
Do you think it's possible to reposition the ALPINE logo? Just asking for system design/ install purposes. Thanks!
alex g  Mar 17, 2018
1 answer
A
No you can't reposition the Alpine logo there is a cutout wedge where the logo sits in, so if you move it that wedge will still be there, unless you don't mind looking at that cut out.

Will this accept 4 awg power wire? The directions state only as high as 8 awg

I used 8 gauge it took up 5/8 - 3/4 of the space in the terminal. I'm not sure how thick the 4 gauge is but it might be to thick to fit into the the hole where it connects. Not sure if it helps but I used 8 gauge around 15 feet works fine even when turned up .
raynaldo  Jul 22, 2017
A
4 gauge is what they suggest in the description. I have probably at least 5 of these over the last few years IN JEEPS, trucks golf carts etc. 8 gauge has always been plenty.
lane  Jul 22, 2017
A
Hey Anthony! In terms of necessity, 8 awg can provide plenty of power to the amp. No need for 4 awg. If you own 4 awg already then it is possible to make it fit into the connector. You would need to strip away some of the thickness of the wire.
matt  Jul 21, 2017
A
Only 8 awg this is a nice powerful amp I have my amp bridge in two channels

Q
Will this amp fit inside a Harley Batwing? I have an Ultra Classic.
woody  Aug 02, 2016
1 answer
A
Amplifier's aren't measured for vehicle-specific fit, however the Alpine MRV-F300 measures 8-1/4"W x 2-3/16"H x 7-15/16"D. I would recommend verifying the mounting area in your Harley on your own to confirm fitment. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

A
Yes, a good working knowledge of DC circuits. Soldering iron, or male/female terminal connectors. 20.or 18 guage. The amount of wire will be determined by where you place this unit. You may want to replace all of your speakers with high end types. This amp will really kick our some nice loud clear sound! I put it in my Porscne 968 with a Kenwood head. I could not believe the results! -Hope this was helpful!

Q
Will this power 2 sets of Polk MM651 UM with enough RMS power to get good performance out of those speakers? The RMS range is very wide on the Polk's, I'm currently running 26 RMS off the head unit and performance is just ok. I like the small footprint and class D benefits of this amp but want to power them correctly. If not this amp, any other suggestions?

Hey there, I've had this in my jeep with a set of polk 6x9 and a set of 6.5 round components for a few years now. I think it sounds crystal clear and goes far louder (without distortion) than any other system I've heard. Unless you're trying to shake your windshield out, this I think would run those great. Superb little amp.
jarret  May 09, 2016
A
Also increasing the power will give you more dynamic, richer sound compared to your head unit
jamie  May 08, 2016
A
That would be a very nice amplifier for your Polk Audio speakers. Good build quality as well as sound quality. Should produce nice sound quality for years btc26. Good luck to you!!!
jamie  May 08, 2016
A
I don't know. I'm not running Polks. I selected Infinity Kappa components and two ways.
greg  May 06, 2016
A
I have the same set up, but one of the polks is the complement version. It sounds great, but needs a sub.
brent  May 06, 2016

My daughter's system employs this amplifier and she absolutely loves the performance improvement. She had previously used a similarly powered Sony Head Unit and was content until I installed the Alpine Amp. You'll be pleased too.
fred  May 06, 2016
A
Have this amp running 4 polk components. It came from Alpine with test results. It does 83 watts rms each channel, its more than enough for me.
hunter  May 06, 2016
A
I'm powering 4 Polk dxi651s and those are rated for 6-55 watts rms, you're speakers are rated for 100 rms so I would look for a higher rms output for yours, closer to 100 the better

Q
Can I hook this up to just 2 speakers in the front? The speakers are infinity 6502ix. They are 3 ohm speakers but say they run a true 4 ohm with the speaker wire. If so, what wattage would I be putting out?
dana  Dec 13, 2015
3 answers
A
I would suggest that you could use two speakers and agree that the wire would increase the impedance. My daughter loves this amplifier and now wants a sub and additional Alpine amp. I hope you enjoy your purchase.
fred  Dec 14, 2015
A
In between the 2 ohm and 4 ohm rating a don't remember what it puts out
ryan  Dec 14, 2015
A
Should be 150 watts per speaker
justin  Dec 14, 2015
Q
Can I run this amp to power 2 infinity 6502ix speakers? The specs say the speakers are 3 ohm running true 4 ohm due to the speaker wire. If so, what wattage would I be running at?
dana  Dec 12, 2015
1 answer
A
Your question has a couple different parts to it. First It is unlikely that your wire is 1 ohm. It would take about 150 feet of 18ga wire to be 1 ohm. So you are probably just slightly over 3 which would put you half way between the 4 ohm power rating (50W) and 2 ohm (75W) so somewhere around 62W. That assumes unbridged. If you're planning on bridging it with 3 ohm speakers that would be equivalent to a 1.5ohm unbridged load and could cause the amp to shut down.

Q
It's this a mono block amp?
isaac nathaniel  Jun 05, 2014
4 answers
A
No, this is a class D 4 channel amplifier. However it can be bridged to run 2 channels to 2 woofers, or - as I have done - you can have front 2 channels @ 50 watts each and the other pair bridged to woofer. I have it hooked up to 2 6" polk 2 way door speakers, and the rear channel bridged mono to my Rockford fosgate 10" woofer. And it really ROCKS !!
daniel g  Jun 08, 2014
A
This is a four channel amp (2 stereo pairs) and you can bridge either pair to get mono. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by block. I run a setup with 3 way separates on 2 of the channels and have the other two bridged to run a dual 12" sub at 4 ohms in mono. It does the trick.
charlie  Jun 05, 2014
A
no
gary  Jun 05, 2014

No this is not a mono block amp. This amp Handles up to 300W maximum power @ 4 ohms bridged (150 x 2) Up to 75W RMS power per channel @ 2 ohms and up to 50W RMS power per channel @ 4 ohms. The mono-block version is the Alpine MRV-M500
