Alpine makes it a little easier to get great bass in your vehicle, especially if you drive a compact car. Their V-Power Series MRV-M250 mono subwoofer amplifier sends up to 250 watts RMS to your sub, guaranteeing some strong bass on your drive. And Alpine made this amp so small — about the size of an outstretched hand and just over 2" tall — it can fit almost anywhere.
The MRV-M250 uses a technology called Enhanced Shutdown Performance, which rolls back the output a bit when the amp threatens to overheat from playing at its limits too long. Instead of shutting down completely, it continues playing your music, until it cools enough to return to full power.
A low-pass filter puts you in command of the frequencies that reach your sub, while a bass boost lets you apply plenty of low-end punch. The amp includes preamp- and speaker-level inputs, so you can install it in almost any vehicle, even one with a factory radio. If you're using the speaker-level inputs, the amp senses an incoming signal and turns itself on, eliminating the need to run a turn-on wire run back to your vehicle's receiver or fusebox. You can control the volume of your MRV-M250 from the front seat with the optional RUX-KNOB remote bass controller.

Powers my new system great.
This amp really gets it done. I hooked it up to a stock head unit in my 2014 Ford Fusion with 8" touch screen. I upgraded door speakers to Alpine and spliced off the back of the unit to hook up the speaker line inputs, since RCA cables are not on back of stock unit. NOTE: instructions say you can get away with hooking up just one set of speakers lines, i.e. just back doors or just front doors, however it will effect the performance. I did this at first and was not happy with the amp, but I went back and spliced in the front doors so all four input lines are being used and it is amazing how well the sub blends with the stock head unit and my upgraded door speakers. I am hooked up to a Kicker 10" ported sub that matches the amp perfectly. I highly recommend this amp for a stock head unit. no need to hook up a wire for turning on the amp it does it through the speaker level line inputs.
Pros: Great amp for the price and its performance
This is a great amp! Comparing it to the previous models, the reduction in size is awesome! Even the large mrv500 is pretty small. This amp gives you everything you need. All the features of this amp really help you understand how to fine tune your sound. Overall really really nice amp!
Pros: Pros: -Small, due to the v-power construction -You can power all other car speakers with this, plus your sub -Adjustable low pass filter, bass boost and overall gain. -Optional bass control knob
Cons: Cons: Bass control knob is a separate purchase No internal fan cooling
I bought this to use in my 2015 Tucson. Have prior experience with Alpine amps, So decided to give this one a try. Its nice and compact. Unfortunately the unit received just barely made its 2 Ohm RMS power (Test sheet showed 260 Watts). My plan was to use it to power a Bazooka Bass Tube. It wasn't strong enough. I returned it. Which Crutchfield was Great at handling.
Pros: Alpine reliability, Compact size. Speaker level input. Auto Sense turn on (Speaker level input)
Cons: Not enough RMS Watts for my needs.
It work just fine in my Ford Ranger
Pros: Easy to installed small fit under passenger seat
Pumps base out of my 10" Infinity Sub perfectly.
Pros: Small enough to mount most anywhere. Easy hook up.
Very good bang for the buck
Pros: Has more than enough power for my 10!
Cons: Mite be too much power
Bought this for my 2013 Civic LX, and to power a Rockford Fosgate Prime R1L-1X10 sub enclosure, just to add some bass to the stock system. No complaints, and works as desired!
Pros: lightweight, small
Installed with a 8awg kit, powering a Polk Dxi108 8" sub. The birth sheet shows the amp tested @ 283 rms in the factory. With my polk rated around 180rms @ 2ohms, this is one of the best matched amps I could find. I have the bass boost off to prevent blowing the sub, and the gain is just over 1/2. It sounds clean, no odd noise, no overheating, and no issues so far. Powered on first try and have not had any issues with a few days of constant use. It could easily drive a lower power 10" or 12".
Pros: It's an Alpine, so it is flat black without lame logos all over it. Love that. Fairly cheap for a quality name brand RMS power rating is true RMS Build quality and sound is excellent for this price category. Class D, low heat Tiny in size, easy to mount or hide. No reliability issues so far, from an amp that was just released.
Cons: -No independent terminal lug for power wire. A crimped/soldered terminal is required. Had to grind my terminal down to size to make it fit in the terminal block, which is not really what I like to do. The power terminal block required smaller ring terminals than is supplied in most 8awg kits, which is the smallest gauge I would use with an amp this size and CCA wires. Not a big deal in this price category, I'm just a perfectionist. -It doesn't make me sandwiches when asked the first time.

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N) over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Alpine MRV-M250 is rated as follows:
Speaker Level Input: A speaker level input harness is included, making it easier to add the amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs. The 8-pin harness has inputs for front and rear speakers. While only two speaker inputs are necessary, wiring all four will minimize the fader's effect on the subwoofer output.
Auto Turn-on: If using the speaker level input, an automatic circuit turns the amplifier on when it senses an input signal.
Low Pass Filter: The amp is equipped with a 50-400Hz variable low-pass filter with a slope of 24 dB/octave. This being a mono subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged.
Bass EQ: The Bass EQ circuit provides a variable boost (0-12dB) at 50 Hz.
Wired Remote: An RJ-25 jack is provided for connecting an optional RUX-KNOB wired remote (item number 500RUXKNOB, sold separately), allowing remote control of the output level of the amplifier.
Note: Alpine recommends 8 gauge power and ground wire (minimum).

this is a mono amp. you would not use it for door speakers, you would use it for a subwoofer. look at 2 channel amps. [ Jason Apr 22, 2015 ]
