Digital technology that sounds perfect

Alpine's X-Power MRX-M110 mono amplifier uses the latest amp technology to play your music loud and clean without taking up much space. And this compact amp employs some of the same circuitry developed for Alpine's top-of-the-line PDX digital amps, so it'll bring exceptional sound to almost any ride.

Big power for big bass

The MRX-M110 puts out up to 1,100 watts RMS to your subwoofer system, so you can fill your listening space with plenty of bass. And it'll even operate safely with a 1-ohm load, making it useful in a variety of sub system installations. Onboard low-pass and subsonic filters let you get the best sound out of your setup, while a bass boost helps to fatten up the sound if you need it.

Keep the music playing

A power management system optimizes the amp's performance and keeps the music playing, even when you're pushing it hot and hard for a long time. Speaker-level inputs with an automatic turn-on feature simplify system hook-up. You can control the volume of your MRV-M500 from the front seat with the optional RUX-KNOB remote bass controller.

It's an Alpine. Need I say more.

Scott from Florida on 8/11/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What can I say. It's an Alpine. I push it hard and it keeps my speakers pounding. It doesn't overheat, sounds great and it's easy to hookup. Writing a review on an Alpine product is like trying to write a review on a Rolls Royce. You buy it because Alpine has always made the highest quality equipment.

Pros: Big power, small footprint, stays cool....it's an Alpine.

Cons: It doesn't come with a Porsche.

So I'm kind of on the fence with this amp. I went with it based on a recommendation from an advisor here. I specifically went with this amp because it's rated at 800 watts at 1 ohm. I have 2 DVC 12" Kicker that I specifically wanted to wire in parallel for 1 ohm operation. The first thing that I think is a little weird is that the amp is actually rated lower at 1 ohm than 2 ohms. Probably just an engineering method to limit heat produced. I've set the gains a couple of different ways. 1. by digital multimeter using ohm's law. 2. Then I got a distortion detector that allows you to set gains at the 1% distortion level. The problem that I'm having is that during big bass kicks, it goes into a temporary "protect" mode that basically cuts power to the sub. This, I assume, is a good thing. The only problem that I see is that I did a "clamp" test on this with a 50 hz test tone and it shows I'm only getting about 435 watts. My deck has no distortion at full volume so I set the gains using full volume on my kenwood 6702s deck. Granted, it sounds great and runs cool but a clamp test is normally pretty generous so in all likelihood I'm getting less than 435 watts at 1% distortion. I'm going to reset the gains and run some more tests but I'm kind of disappointed. I just expected more "clean" power. At this point I'm kind of disappointed I just didn't go with a set up that would allow me to run at 2 ohms instead of 1. We will see. This one may be going back.

Pros: Sound quality, Runs cool. Looks Cool. Unit has a variety of measures that will prevent it from over heating.

Cons: Don't seem to be getting rated power. Description and Alpine Website states that you don't need a remote turn on wire but the manual never mentions not using a remote turn on wire.

Best mono amp in this class I've ever owned. I have had a lot of Rockford Fosgate amps (new and old school ie: punch 150) as well as some others in this wattage class. I have to say that this is my first Alpine amp, and I am really impressed with it. It is pushing a single JL 12W0V3 and it hits hard!

Pros: Too many to list

Great components, the installation on the sub woofer was somewhat difficult but I called a buddy and he came over and helped

Pros: Great Sound, fits great and you can't even tell it's there! Seats fold down without an issue!

Cons: Make an insert that you could just fit right into the same piece that you have to cut out,to install your sub woofer, but that is the process!

Works great running 2 type s10 dual 2 ohm subs

Pros: Small size stays cool

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This amplifier works amazingly! My subwoofer gets a great kick out of it, maximizing its potential. For reference, i have the Alpine SWR-12D4 and it was a huge step up from the 12 inch Kicker CVR. For a noticeable increase in bass, definitely invest in this!

Pros: Easy setup, leads to quality bass provided you have a matching subwoofer. Great product and

Cons: Makes the sub so powerful, your car may rattle. This would probably happen no matter what, so if you do get the amplifier, be sure to invest in hush mat or something to reduce the rattle in your car.

This unit rocks. Went from hifonics 500 x 2 bridged. Not even close in comparison. The alpine drove my subs with fierce power. Very tight controlled sound. Have an old kenwood excelon kdc X615 with only 1.8 volt pre out n I still have the gains only set 3/4 or I will blow the subs out of the box. The birth sheet came as 1152 watts @ 2ohms. Didn't even fine tune it yet and I'm already satisfied. Thought my subs where shot but the hifonics unit is junk. It's hooked up to 2 infinity 10" subs in a sealed box. And it hits hard. I like the sq better than spl. You could go for spl but better get high end subs that can take it. You won't be disappointed. Be careful with the gains, set the adjustments right first then adj. your gains. Had to take all the bass enhancements off, draw a flat response from the head unit then adj. the amp controls, then go back to the HU and do final adj. from there. Def worth every penny. The name speaks for itself. Can't speak for longevity yet since its still new. Makes my subs sound new again. Nice clean controlled sound.

Pros: Strong tight clean controlled bass. Lots and lots of power. Very easy to set up.

Cons: None

Love this AMP!! Well worth the money. I bought this to power a single rockford fosgate P3 12 (wired at 1 ohm in factory box). I have the amp turned up about 3/4 of the way and it POUNDS! This amp puts out plenty of clean power with no distortion. All of the wiring terminals feel very solid so there is no worry about loose cables.

Pros: Lots of clean power

Cons: none

So I needed an amp to push a Rockford P3 slim requiring a 1 ohm 400 rms. Its in my nature to over do things and figured that one couldn't go wrong with Alpine in mind. At 800 rms @ 1 ohm, its needless to say this amp hits hard and is turned way down to prevent blowing up the speaker. It has a birth chart rating it a 1138 rms @ 2 ohms and I believe it!

Pros: Great cost, Alpine quality, looks awesome, performs even better

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have this amp hooked up in my 2007 Accord to 2 Alpine Type-R12's 2 ohm load in a sound ordinance box. "The 12's are last years model" My gain is set about half way and these speakers POUND! Kinda worried this will make my car fall apart. Even my headliner was flexing. I ran it for about five minutes of playing Bass 305 stuff and the amp was still cool to the touch. Birth sheet rated my amp 1147 watts, 2 ohm load @14 volts. Very happy with this amp!

Pros: Great looking Very powerful

Cons:

Great amp

I got this amp on a alpine type r 15 and this is the best sound that I have ever had in my car its clean and strong and with the stinger 5f cap it has all the power it needs

Pros: Great amp

So i had this amp pushing 2 kicker comp 12" subs. each were 150RMS. well obviously you know what happened. this amp pushes WAY more than 300 watts RMS so when i really started pushing the subs the right one started smoking. it still works but its alot quiter and makes a suttle rattle. and it still smokes. so im gonona get two kicker compVR's instead and hopefully those will actually push and not blow up

Pros: great amp. way more power than i needed apparently

Cons: blew my stuff up.

Great amp!

This Amp is well worth the money, It drives my two jack hammers insanely hard and the settings are turned down low. My friend has the same subs with a 900 watt Kenwood all settings turned up high and this amp pounds them twice as hard!

MRX Amplifier Design: Class-D amplifiers boast higher efficiency, produce less heat, and draw less current than traditional Class-AB amps. The MRX series benefits from the technology trickledown from Alpine's more expensive PDX amps, including Direct FET final outputs, thermal management processor, 6-Layer Glass Epoxy PC Board; combining to create a high-end sound quality without the bulky heat sinks required by most amps in this power class.

STAR Topology: Alpine's unique STAR (Signal Transit for Accurate Response) Circuit PCB design provides a single common ground for all amp sub-blocks, preventing ground interference and minimizing internal noise.

Power Management Processor: The multi-stage Power Management Processor continuously monitors component temperatures throughout the amplifier and decreases power output if anything gets too hot. When playing music under heavy loads for long periods, the circuit automatically reduces power output slightly at first, and then further in a second stage if necessary. This two stage approach provides an interruption free listening experience.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The MRX-M110's power ratings are measured according to the Consumer Electronics Association CEA-2006 standards. These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. The power output is measured from 20 Hz to 400 Hz using a 14.4 volt power supply with no more than 0.01% THD+N:

  • 4-ohm: 650 watts
  • 2-ohm: 1100 watts
  • 1-ohm: 800 watts

Signal-to-Noise: When measured under CEA-2006 conditions (reference 1 watt into a 4-ohm load) the signal to noise ratio is 90 dBA. Measured at the rated power output S/N is 117 dB.

Verification Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that lists the RMS power output measured from that specific amplifier. It also lists the model number, serial number, test date, and the test conditions (voltage and impedance).

Auto Turn On: When using the speaker level inputs the X-Power amplifiers automatically turn on when voltage is detected on the signal inputs, making them an easy factory system upgrade.

Low Output Impedance: With low output impedance, the MRX-M110 outputs tightly controlled bass, with a damping Factor rated at greater than 1000.

LED: The top panel LED power indicator glows blue when the amplifier is turned on.

Controls

Gain: The MRX-M110's gain is set according to the level of the incoming signal. The line-level input gain setting is continuously variable from 100 mV to 4.0V; the speaker-level input gain setting is continuously variable from 250 mV to 10.0V.

Crossover: The low-pass crossover point is continuously variable from 50 to 400 Hz and the slope is 24 dB/oct; the crossover cannot be bypassed.

Subsonic Filter: The amp also has a 24 dB/oct subsonic filter, continuously variable from 5 to 30 Hz.

Bass EQ: Bass boost can be applied to the subwoofer output; it's variable from 0 to +12 dB and centered at 50 Hz.

Connections

Power/Ground/Remote: The MRX-M110 features set-screw terminals for the Power, Ground and Remote Turn-on inputs. The Power and Ground terminals will accommodate up to 4 gauge wire (Alpine recommends 4 gauge for cable runs over 3'), the Remote Turn-on terminal will accept up to 8 gauge wire.

Speaker Output: The speaker outputs terminal is also set-screw terminals and will accept up to 8 gauge wire.

Line Input/Output: Line level RCA is the preferred input connection. The full range stereo line output allows easily adding another amp without running a second set of cables.

Speaker Level Input: Use the included speaker level input harnesses if the connected radio has no preamp outputs.

Fuses: The amp is protected by four chassis mounted 25-amp ATO fuses.

Remote Bass Control (optional): Alpine's RUXKNOB wired remote (sold separately), connects to the amp's RJ-25 Remote Bass Control jack, and offers control of the subwoofer output level from the front of your vehicle. The linear attenuation can be adjusted from 0 to -20dB.

The price was great as well as the reviews. [ Cameron  Sep 02, 2016 ]
I picked this sub entirely based on what my rep Ringo advised. Its going to power an Alpine 12 type R and matches up perfectly. It was a great recommendation. [ Anthony  Jul 28, 2016 ]

I picked this item based on my love for Alpine and how their products sound. I read reviews and went online to hear how this amp sounds and it pounds. I have a lot of options with this amp. It could put out 1100 watts, 800 watts, or 650 watts. [ William  Dec 04, 2015 ]

Great question, typically the lower the ohm rating the more power drawn through the amp. I own this amp and considered the fact that the amp outputs less watts at 1 ohm than 2 ohm is indicative that it is not as stable in 1 ohm operation. [ GUNNER  Aug 19, 2016 ]
I took it to a shop and they did everything [ JUAN J  Mar 05, 2016 ]
Hook the positive lead to both positive on the speaker and same for the negative. It will operate at a 2 ohm load. [ Timothy  Mar 05, 2016 ]
Jumper the neg to neg and pos to pos. The sub should of came with two jumpers. Then you tie one neg and positive from amp to sub, doesn't matter which one since you bridged them with the jumpers. [ mike  Mar 05, 2016 ]
If your two speakers are both single voice coil 2ohm speakers then you wire the speakers as follows. Negative from amp to negative of #1 woofer, #1 woofer positive to negative on #2 woofer. Then positive from amp to positive on woofer #2. This will make the amp run at 1,100 watts Rms. Which is actually 550 Rms to each woofer. More than enough power for two 10" or 12" woofers [ Timothy  Jan 04, 2016 ]
I lost one of mine before I even got it installed! All u have 2 do is take 1 to a local electronics or auto parts store and they will b able 2 match it. [ Raymond  Mar 24, 2015 ]

I have to kicker 12 inch cvx subwoofers. How should I wire them to this amp For best performance? [ Abel  Mar 14, 2015 ]
that works should sound just fine, but i switched to a swr 10 d4 and put in the smallest proted box i could get and it seams to sound better than that 12 [ STEPHEN C  Sep 06, 2014 ]
Yes this amp would be great for this setup. Looks like that type r rms is 300-1000w. So that 650 would be a perfect sweet spot. I used mine on two older the original type r 10". But after about a month blow on of them out because of the power. This was expected. It just now gives me a reason to try out my alpine type x on it now. [ joshua  Aug 27, 2014 ]
Yes it will be. I had the Alpine 10's (DVC) hooked to it and it sounded amazing. Plus there alot of ajustments to tweak it to your setup. [ JEREMIAH  Aug 26, 2014 ]
I had an Alpine Type R paired to this amplifier and my subwoofer popped twice. There is too much power coming from this amp to your sub, and I had to return it to Crutchfield both times. I would say get a less powerful amp than this one, or else a much better subwoofer. The type R was decent, but then I upgraded to a Rockford T0, which produced much better low notes and paired with the amplifier much better than the Alpine. [ RITESH  Aug 26, 2014 ]
Get the swr12d4 and wire it to 2ohms you will get 1200watts and that sub will hit hard. I have the 10inch version with 1200 watts. You will definitely get better sound quality with that sub with 1200 watts [ DEVIN  Aug 26, 2014 ]
You would be better off getting a dual 2 ohm type r as this amp makes 800 watts at 1 ohm and 1100 at 2ohm. [ JOSHUA  Aug 26, 2014 ]
Yes it will but it would be much better with two off those subs. I have the same setup but had to turn my amp levels really low because it blew the sub out. I only have 1 sub but thinking of getting another rich would sound a lot better keeping the amp at low levels. [ JARETH  Aug 26, 2014 ]
