Tone control

Alpine included the tone controls you'll need to tune your system so your speakers and sub sound their best. You can use the high-pass filters to remove the extreme low bass from your full-range speakers, so they'll play more efficiently. You can adjust the subwoofer channel's low-pass filter, subsonic filter, and bass boost to get just the right bass tone, and you can add the optional RUX-KNOB.2 remote bass knob to control your bass from the dash.

Superior sound and build quality

Alpine PDR-V75

Alpine built the PDR-V75 to exacting physical and electronic standards, resulting in a tough, powerful amp with an incredibly clean and noise-free output. All the electrical connections are located on one side, for more convenient and neat installations. Speaker-level inputs allow you to use this amp in almost any system, even one with a factory radio. And you can rotate the badge, so the Alpine logo can always display right side up, no matter which way you mount your PDR-V75.

Features

Channel Design: The Alpine PDR-V75 can be configured as a 5-channel amplifier for powering two pairs of speakers and a subwoofer. It can also be configured as a 4-channel or 3-channel amplifier. The amplifier is stable to 2-ohms in stereo, 4-ohms when bridged.

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4Ω load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples). Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Alpine PDR-V75 is rated at 75 watts RMS x 4 channels and 250 watts RMS x 1 channel with an 87 dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output (not CEA-2006 conditions) is 105 dB for the full range channels and 110 dB for the subwoofer channel.

LED: The top mounted LED Power indicator glows blue when the amplifier is turned on and changes to red when the protection circuit is engaged.

Speaker Level Inputs: The RCA inputs will accept either speaker-level or line level signals from your car's head unit. A speaker level signal is connected to the RCA inputs using a speaker wire to RCA adapter (sold separately).

Auto Turn-on: When using a speaker level input, the amp will turn on automatically when it senses the input signal.

Verification Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that lists the RMS power output of the specific amplifier. It also lists the model number, serial number, test date, and the test conditions (14.4 volts, 2 ohms).

Controls

Hidden Controls: The amplifier's controls are hidden under a cover plate. The plate is removed by unscrewing two machine screws with the supplied 2mm Allen wrench.

Independent Controls: There are independent controls and crossovers for Channels 1&2, Channels 3&4, and the Subwoofer channel:

  • Gain Controls: The rotary gain controls, for matching the amp's input sensitivity to the connected head unit, are continuously variable from 0.2 to 4.0 volts for the full range channels, and 0.1 to 4.0 volts for the Subwoofer channel. You'll need a small screwdriver (not included) for setting the gain.
  • Crossover: The full range channels (1&2 and 3&4) each have a -12 db/octave high-pass filter that can be turned on or off. The cutoff frequency can be set between 50Hz and 400Hz. The Subwoofer channel has a -24 dB/octave low-pass filter that cannot be turned off. The cutoff frequency can be set between 50Hz and 400Hz. The Sub channel's -24 dB/octave Subsonic filter can be set between 8Hz and 40Hz. It cuts ultra-low frequencies from the input signal before being amplified to protect the speakers and to minimize wasted power.
  • Input Channel: The two-position input switches configure the inputs. For the full-range channels, you can set the inputs to "1/2" (signal from inputs 1 and 2 are sent to channels 3 and 4--no Y-adapter necessary) or "3/4" (Channels 1&2 and 3&4 are independent--a 4-channel source is required). For the Subwoofer channel, you can set the inputs to "1+2+3+4" (signals from the full-range channels are mixed and sent to the SubW channel) or "SubW" (Left/Right signals from the SubW input are present).
  • Bass EQ: The Bass EQ circuit provides a variable 0 dB to +12 dB signal boost, centered at 50 Hz to the Subwoofer channel.

Remote Bass Control: Alpine's RUX-KNOB wired remote control (sold separately) plugs into the RJ-25 Remote Bass Control terminal, giving you attenuation control of the sub(s) from anywhere in the car (0 to -20 dB).

Connections

Terminal Layout: For wiring convenience, all of the inputs and outputs on the amplifier are on one side.

Power Input: Two set-screw terminals are provided for connecting the power and ground cables. The terminals accept up to 4-gauge wire (a 4-gauge wiring kit is recommended). The set screws are tightened/loosened with the included 3mm Allen wrench.

Remote Turn-on: The remote turn-on set screw terminal will accept up to 12-gauge wire. The set screw is tightened/loosened with the included 2mm Allen wrench.

Speaker Outputs: The five pairs of speaker outputs set-screw terminals will accept up to 12-gauge wire. The set screws are tightened/loosened with the included 2mm Allen wrench.

Signal Input: The Alpine PDR-V75 is equipped with three pairs of female RCA jack inputs: Channel 1(L)/2(R), Channel 3(L)/4(R), and SubW(L)/SubW(R). The RCA inputs will accept either speaker-level or line level signals from your car's head unit. A speaker level signal is connected to the RCA inputs using a speaker wire to RCA adapter (sold separately).

Remote Bass Control: An RJ-25 jack is provided for the optional RUX-KNOB wired remote control.

Fuses: The amp is protected with two 40-amp ATO fuses.

Q
Signal to noise ratio for this amp is rated at 87 db. Is that spec averaged for all 5 channels? If so, are there separate specs for the 4 channels and sub channel?
warren  Feb 16, 2020
1 answer
A
From my manual on the specs page, it says Ch-1/2/3/4 S/N ratio >87db and Sub W channel is also >87db. I don't know if this is the answer you are looking for. I am very happy with mine.

Q
I want a Alpine PDR-V75 amplifier but donâ??t want to spend any more money on a sound processor I have a alpine stereo and a sub and 2 way speakers with crossovers will I still get decent sound quality?
mike  Dec 30, 2018

A
Sure, I'm using Pyle 2 ways and a separate sub they sound great.
kevin  Dec 30, 2018
A
Yes, I am running two 2 ohm 12 in type r Subwoofers and a whole alpine system and the sound is awesome to this day it still impresses me on how hard it hits and the quality of the sound.
tanner  Dec 30, 2018
Q
Do I need to use 5 channel RCA patch cords with this? 1pair for FR FL, 1 pair for Rl RR and a single for the Sub?
carol  Nov 22, 2018
4 answers
A
Yes you need the 5 channel rca jacks adapter kit with this, so you can separate each speaker from rf and lf in the front and rr and lr in the back. subs have their own plugs for each sub r and l
dwain  Nov 22, 2018
A
Yes you will.
steven  Nov 22, 2018
A
The minimum amount of rca patch cords needed is 4. The amp has a switch you can place in the "1 +2+3+4" position, all the signals are mixed and come out from the SUB W. This setting provides signal to the subwoofer channel when only 4 channel input is available. Otherwise, 5 channel rca patch cords will also work.
matthew  Nov 22, 2018
A
Yes.
jeanpaul  Nov 22, 2018
Q
Hi, I want to connect in one channel 2 speakers in parallel (coaxial plus tweeter both 4 ohms 50 w rms) so de equivalent impedance will be 2 ohms and as per data sheet this can give 100 w rms at 2 ohms. For the second channel I want to connect one set on 4 ohms 50 rms and for sub one 200 w rms at 2 ohms, do you think the amp will handle it or am I demanding too much? Thanks.
jacobo  Jul 24, 2018
1 answer
A
You are correct that wiring two 4-ohm speakers together in parallel will present a 2-ohm load. However, in order to get more personalized advice on an amplifier to work with your system, I would suggest contacting an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. They can go over the specs with you in more detail to ensure this amp is the right choice--or if not, they can suggest another one better suited for the job. Thanks!

Q
If I install a 5 channel amp, can I leave the 5th channel with nothing plugged into it without causing damage to the amp?
mikkel  Feb 26, 2018
3 answers
A
Yes, you can leave it without anything plugged in. It will not damage the amp.
alexa  Mar 14, 2018
A
Absolutely! The channel circuits are isolated. You can add the additional speaker later.
chris  Mar 14, 2018
A
The short answer is yes. Doing so will cause no harm.
gordon  Mar 14, 2018
Q
Will this power 4 6x9 speakers and 2 12" subs?
amber  Oct 03, 2017
1 answer
A
It's definitely possible, sure. The subs would have to be wired to present no less than a 2 Ohm final load on the 5th channel but would receive up to 175 watts RMS each (350 combined) at that impedance. I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan

Q
Hopefully, a more knowledgeable soul can help: I want to use 2 ohm Infinity Kappas as my 6.5 door speakers, but because of size considerations I'm forced to use a 4 ohm sub. I checked the manual, but there was no information. First, is using different ohm-ages (sp?) cool (all 4 speakers the 2 ohm Kappas, just the sub at 4 ohm)? Will the amp run the sub at 4 ohm and the other channels at 2, or will it be entirely one or the other -- and, if so, which one?

I bought new 4 ohms speakers for my gt mustang and had them replaced, but I used the factory 8 in subs and mine works perfectly
dwain  Nov 22, 2018
A
each channel is separate so as long as the amp is 2 ohm stable your fine...I cant remember the specs off the top of my head but I love mine, tons of pure clean power out of such a small unit. I have mb quarts gt components and a super compact JL 8" power box and I can crank it until it feels like my ears are going to bleed before it starts to distort

Q
Can this amp be mounted upside down? I'd like to mount it on the rear deck in the trunk of my TSX to keep it out of the way and hidden.
nate  Jun 26, 2015
6 answers
A
Yes, I did that with mine
edward  Jul 06, 2015
A
My amp is mounted under my driver's seat. Being that it is solid state electronics, I don't think mounting it upside down would make a difference in performance or operation.
eugene  Jul 01, 2015
A
I would think that this would be an option, there is nothing loose on the unit so nothing should be falling out of place.
james  Jul 01, 2015
A
Yes you can, that's exactly what we are doing. We are mounting it in between the two speakers in the trunk.
jeff  Jun 29, 2015
A
Yes it can be mounted upside down
jacob k  Jun 29, 2015
