The Alpine PDX-V9 5-channel amp delivers a whopping 100 watts RMS each to four speakers at the same time it blasts 500 watts RMS to your sub setup. This amazingly compact amp uses beefy internal components and clever engineering to keep the power output strong and the noise low for superb fidelity and control. The adjustable crossovers feature an extended range of crossover points, allowing you to use this amp with component tweeters, midrange speakers, or midbass drivers.
Alpine packs Class-D amplifier technology into this PDX amplifier for awesome power from a 2" tall frame. This small-but-mighty amp runs so cool that you can stack it together with other PDX amps into a single unit — the multiple heatsinks actually couple together to cool the entire stack. Each PDX Series amp offers the same 8" by 10" footprint, so they'll fit in hatchbacks, trunks, truck cabs, and any vehicles with limited space.
Front-mounted controls make post-installation adjustments a snap, even when multiple amps are stacked together. You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. Purchased to run entire system off one amp in a Tundra crew max.6X9 kicker sepperates up front with kicker tweets in sails and polk tweets in the dash running off front channel and some kicker 6.5 door speakers in the back.JL Audio SB-T-TUNDCMAX/13TW5v2 single stealth box in the back.I was running a pioneer gm d8604 and it sounded good but changed it up when I got a sub.The Alpine sounds clean with plenty of power to run the 4 channels but its not quite driving my sub as expected.Before purchasing the Alpine I unplugged the rear speekers and just bridged the rear channel which provided the sub with 300 watts rms.Upgraded with this Alpine that they list as providing a dedicated 500 watts rms to the mono channel and sadly there was no change in power?I should feel the thump and the pressure on my back with 500 watts rms 3 ohm load.Amps birth sheet listed it as 115 watts x4 and 510w x1.Funny when I first read this and it stuck in my head as 5 (10w) bass outpute.My JL Audio SB-T-TUNDCMAX/13TW5v2 is quite under powered I don't think its pushing 500 watts not when there is no change with another amp that pushes 300 out of two of the 4 channels.Ground checks and 13.8-14+ supplied.Time to dig out the MTX pro BLUE thunder old school dependable no bs power where a 400 watt rms equals a 640 watt rms birth sheet.This amp shook windows of 3 or 4 cars ahead of me?

Look, I have had two 12 inch JL w3 V3 subs hooked up to this amp in my Crew Cab Silverado and it was plenty of power and great sound. I wanted deeper base so I bought one JL W6 V3 subs in a JL Box, and I had to turn the gain down because it was to much power for the sub, but it was still not enough bass. Now I have two SA 8 V.2 Sundowns under my back seat rated at 500 watts RMS a piece. I was worried that I wouldn't get the sound I was looking for with only 250 watts a sub but I was wrong!! My birth sheet was 568 and I did all the install work my self, the hook ups on the back for the speaker wire was just well thought out. My gain and filter for my Focal 165 KRS on the front of the amp make tuning easy. I have this amp mounted underneath my front middle seat, Its like a secret storage box built from the factory and every time I show to some one they are amazed that one amp does all that sound and fits tucked away under my seat. They all are also blown away that I did it my self because it really looks professional, I owe that to the Alpine for the easy plugs they designed. I have had no problems with this amp. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS AMPS SIZE, QUALITY, POWER AND VERSATILITY. Do your self a favor buy this amp and buy the bass knob. Bravo out!

I just bought my FIRST digi-amp for my 2015 Ford Fusion ... THIS ... THING ... ROCKS!! True it is a bit pricey ..BUT.. it IS an Alpine. Now, be it that I'm not all into the competition thing nor do I need to have it up so loud you can hear me coming down the road ... the clarity is outstanding. I've paired this up with Pioneer TS-D speakers and a Kicker L7-12 in the back and i couldn't have been happier with what (...here comes the plug...) POPTRONICS in Baltimore, Md suggested / sold / installed. I got mine . . . You better get yours

Has all the crossovers and adjustments you will ever need and decent power for such a small package. I have door speakers on 4 channels and 2 jl w1's on the sub channel and I was surprised just how much bass I got out of this. It came pre tested with 125 watts on the four door channels and 550 watts on the sub channel.
Pros: 150 extra watts for free. Small size.
Cons: Gets so hot at times it released a small amount of oil out of the bottom when I first broke it in.
The birth certificate that came from the factory stated actual 125watts x 4 and 555watts x 1 so installed speakers and subs that could handle the power and it does so effortlessly. The wiring is stupid simple whereas anyone can do it and the overall build quality is on par with Alpines reputation..

I love this amp im i running everthing with single amp its expensive but you would save money if using 2 amps i have it with 4infinity 5×7 and 2 w1 jl audio and a custom box under the back seat of a 2003 f150 supercrew

ive had this amp for only a few weeks now, but so far I am highly satisfied with this amplifier. I have pushed it very hard and it doesn't lose its clarity. I have it paired with two alpine swa 12s4 subwoofers and four 6 3/4 kicker cs speakers and it just pounds in my firebird. I couldn't be happier. \

Bought this unit to power the upgraded 5 speaker system in my new 2014 Mustang. After a lot of looking around, decided to pick this amp as the base unit for the system. Has great power - the system actually goes louder than I can take it - much more than the Shaker 500 system in my previous 2006 Mustang. The unit is small enough that I mounted it under the rear deck - so I still get to keep the trunk space that I had, minus the sub in the corner of course (used the custom fit enclosure for that, so not too bad). Matched with Alpine SPR-68 in front, Rockford Fosgate PPS4-6 in back and Rockford Fosgate 12" P3 sub

Disappointed with the strength delivered to my system. I was truly hoping for more power than I get. Have to turn WAY up to get anywhere near the volume I'd hoped for when powering Alpine SPR-50C component speakers in front, Alpine SPR-69 speakers in the rear, and a JL CS110RG-W3v3 sub in the trunk. The sound quality is quite good, but this system really lacks power.

I'm currently using this Amp to push Alpine SPR-60C's (component) up front, Alpine SPR-60's (coaxial) in the rears and an Alpine SWR-12D2 in a 2009 Honda Accord. No issue delivering the needed power to all speakers on channels 1-4, nor sub on the 5th channel. The birth sheet included specifically indicated 110W RMS per channel (1-4) and 560W RMS to the sub. The sub has enough power to make the rear deck rattle, so gains are set to normal. When used with the "RUX-KNOB" accessory, the AMP provides full control over your speakers.
I couldn't believe how clear and crisp the highs and lows that are produced. The performance delivered upon initial installation was a bit overwhelming, but a lot of time was needed to adjust the gains and crossover points to get the perfect sound stage needed. This small amp provides the power to adequately run a nice aftermarket system, enough to make a parked car alarm go off if need be. Not my forte though, but nice to know if someone needed the power.
I've never experienced and overheating (weather has been around 60's here in NY) and I have had the Amp running for a good 3+ hours at a time. The real test would be when summer time hits (90+ degree weather). Aside from that, I have not experienced any "hiss" sounds from this amp. I made sure I properly grounded this unit to avoid any electrical noises. The connectors are designed to reduce electrical noise and that's a big plus.
Pros: Power and Efficiency delivered in a compact size for your entire system, including the sub.
Cons: Allen wrench needed to remove the faceplate to gain access to amp settings (channel gains, crossovers, etc).
This sucker may be one of the best amps on the market. Each amp comes with a certification of testing, for example, even though this amp says 100W per channel, mine tested out at 144W per channel. My installer dialed down the gains for the cleanest possible sound without distortion and this baby just flat out rocks! It is unbelievably clean, with crystal clear voices and mid-levels, and the bass just booms, baby booms. I had my system installed by a local Master Certified Tech, and even he noted that this was one of the cleanest and most powerful amps he's ever heard. He told me I could power 10 speakers off this if I wanted. Don't hesitate because it's pricey... you get what you pay for.
Pros: Clean, unadulterated power. Everything you need to power your car's system in one package.

I was waiting for Alpine to introduce a more powerful 5-channel amp to their line up, and they finally did! I actually traded up a JL900/5 for the PDX-V9. Same specs and for $300 less. The specs on the PDX-V9 are actually better than the JL900/5, not sure why Crutchfield doesn't list them. I'm not bashing JL Audio in any way, I just couldn't use the JL900/5 for my particular application. The JL amp kept overheating and driving itself into protect mode. Returned one and recieved another, and it did the same thing. Just to find out it was the heat in the trunk driving the internal temperature of the amplifier up even before it was turned on. Anyway, after 2 JL's, decided on the Alpine and absolutley love it! Great sound and plenty of power. I did notice that the Alpine sounds a bit cleaner than the JL, and the gains don't have to be set quite as high. The JL would distort a bit, which was dissapointing, but not the Alpine. The amp runs pretty cool overall even when it's been sitting in the trunk of a car for 8 plus hours in the hot sun. I'm driving 2 pairs of Alpine Type-R's, components in the front and 2-ways in the rear deck. As for a sub, it's pushing a JL Audio H.O. Powerwedge with 12"W6 DVC. The bass is tight and accurate and very LOUD. I wouldn't try to power a W7 with this amp, but mid-grade to some upper end subwoofers will do fine. I would just try to find a subwoofer that is rated for 500W RMS continuous. Overall, I'm very pleased with this Alpine product.

I have this amp installed in my reinell 207LS Boat. Twp speakers on the tower (6" Kickers), four in the boat itself (6" Alpines), plus an 12" sub. This is the best sounding system I've ever heard in a boat for the price I paid. Nobody can believe how clear and loud that this system is. the amp makes this system!! Takes up littel space and doesn't seem to get too hot.

I have this amp installed in a Toyota FJ Cruiser and this amp rocks. I have it powering 1 set of 61/2 JL Audio C3-650 up front. In the rear I have two Alpine 61/2 and 4" component speakers. For bass I'm using a JL Audio 12w3v3 everything sounds loud and clear the bass hits really hard.
Pros: Small Amp, Good Price for a Powerful 5 Channel Amp.
great all in one amp. takes up little space.i put this amp under my seat in my dodge ram quad cab. birth card tested at 114watts rms x4 and 586rms mono. it only takes a 4awg wire witch is not that expensive. stays cool even when i go to the desert and crack for hours.

PDX Amplifier Design: Class-D amplifiers boast higher efficiency, produce much less heat, and draw less current than traditional Class-AB amps. The PDX series is Alpine's super-efficient power density design of full-range and monoblock Class-D amps. They combine MOSFET power supplies, MOSFET final outputs, and a thermal management processor, along with a 6-Layer Glass Epoxy PC Board to create a high-end sound quality without the bulky heat sinks required by most amps with this much power.
STAR Topology: Alpine's unique STAR (Signal Transit for Accurate Response) Circuit PCB design provides a single common ground for all amp sub-blocks, preventing ground interference and minimizing internal noise.
Power Management Processor: The Alpine PDX amplifier incorporates Alpine's new Power Management circuit. The Power Management Processor controls all aspects of amplifier performance, monitoring voltage, temperature and output to ensure uninterrupted power output for non-stop listening.
Uninterrupted Protection Circuits: If the amplifier gets too hot, the Thermal Protection circuit kicks in and gradually decreases output power until it cools down. Once cool, the power output automatically increases back to the previous level. If the circuit detects a Low Battery condition, it will gradually decrease power output if battery voltage becomes too low. Once the battery voltage increases, power will be restored. This interruption-free design allows for non-stop enjoyment with no hiccups or drop-outs, just clean, clear output.
Channel Design: The Alpine PDX-V9 can be configured as a 5-channel, 4-channel, or 3-channel amplifier. The amplifier is stable down to 2-ohms in stereo, and 4-ohms when bridged.
Low Impedance Stability: This amp is stable at low impedances and is capable of its rated power (100 Watts x 4 + 500 Watts x 1) from 2 to 4 ohms. This allows excellent flexibility with multiple speaker and subwoofer loads and is adjusted automatically.
CEA 2006 Compliant: The PDX-V9's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.
Verification Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that lists the RMS power output of the individual amplifier. It also lists the model number, serial number, test date, and the test conditions (14.4 volts, 4 ohms).
Ultra-Wide Frequency Response: The Alpine PDX-V9 offers a super-wide, frequency range (5Hz-50kHz, +0/-1dB) for unparallel sound quality and detail.
Ultra-Low Output Impedance: With ultra-low output impedance, the PDX-V9 offers extremely controlled, tight bass for unprecedented sound quality. The amplifier's Damping Factor is rated at >500 for channels 1-4 and >1000 for channel 5.
High Signal-to-Noise: This amplifier is capable of S/N ratios up to 92dB S/N at 1W and 112dB S/N at rated power for extremely clean, uncolored sound. The PDX amp delivers crystal clear music every time, without unwanted background noise or static.
Power Supply: The PDX amplifier's power supply delivers tremendous headroom with low distortion and noise. The PDX amplifier has an extremely high total system efficiency of ~80% (power supply is rated at >90%, output stage is rated >90%).
Trim Rings: The PDX-series amps each have removable trim rings that can be custom painted to match your vehicle, or personalized to anything you want.
Stackable: The PDX-series amplifiers are 20% thinner than previous models at only 2" thick. A newly designed stacking system packs the amps closer together so there are no gaps and to save space in the trunk while directly coupling the amps heatsinks to help share cooling duties. The stacking plates are included with other PDX-series amplifiers.
Note: When stacking multiple amplifiers, do not install vertically or at an incline. Any stack installation other than parallel to the vehicle floor, invalidates the warranty.
LED: The top-mounted LED Power indicator glows blue when the amplifier is turned on.
Hidden Controls: The Alpine PDX amplifier's controls are hidden behind a decorative front panel. The front panel is removed by unscrewing one machine screw with the supplied Allen wrench and then prying the front panel open.
Gain Control: The PDX-V9 provides independent rotary controls for the front, rear, and sub channels to set the amplifier's gain according to the level of the incoming signal. The gain settings is continuously variable from 0.2V to 4.0V for the front and rear and 0.1V to 4.0V for the sub.
Optional Remote Bass Control: The amplifier has an RJ-25 modular jack for adding the optional RUX-KNOB Remote Bass Control for full control of the bass adjustments from the dash. You can also control multiple amps from the same controller with simple telephone cord adapters.
Note: The Remote Bass Control will only control the mono subwoofer channel (channel 5).
Crossovers: The Alpine PDX-V9 offers independent crossovers for the front, rear, and sub channels, which can be set as follows:
Terminal Layout: For wiring convenience, all of the inputs and outputs on the amplifier are on one side.
Quick Connect Plugs: The PDX series amplifier uses quick connect plugs to attach your system's speaker wires and power cables to the amp for a simple, error-free installation.
Quick Connect Speaker Terminals: The Alpine PDX-V9 includes 5 quick connect high-power speaker terminals. Bare speaker wire, up to 8 gauge, is held in place by screw clamps on the quick connectors. The speaker terminal quick connectors then plug into the amplifier.
Quick Connect Battery Terminals: The removable battery terminal quick connector features a low-loss, high-current design. It accepts up to 4GA wire for power and ground, to ensure your amp gets the power it needs while allowing for easy installation. The remote-turn on lead will accept up 12 gauge wire. The power, ground, and remote-turn on lead are secured by set-screws on quick connector. The battery terminal quick connector then plugs into the amplifier.
Line Level Input: The Alpine PDX-V9 is equipped with six gold-plated female RCA jacks.
Fuses: The Alpine PDX-V9 is equipped with two 40-amp ATC fuses.

Enter an answerI would do the following assuming you have front and rear full range speaker locations in your car. - Will you want to use the fader in the factory head unit? If so, then run the Audiocontrol unit off the front OEM speaker channels to the PDX-V9, and run the rear speaker channels in stock connection configuration like nothing was added. - If you run it this way, then you would run two main RCA channels from the Audiocontrol to the PDX-V9, then using the selectable input switches on the PDX, run 4 + 1 channel out to the Polk mids, tweets, and JL subwoofer. All 4 channels will provide a dedicated 100W RMS to each midrange and each tweeter. - This would eliminate the need for the passive crossover that came with the Polks. That is normally fine as passive crossovers from the lower price point speaker sets are nothing special. The active crossover in the Alpine PDX-V9 will provide better sound quality and more precise tuning over crossover points and gain settings. The only disadvantage is you will not know the EXACT crossover points. For this, you will need an o-scope or RTA meter to measure where the roll off frequencies will be. For starters, shoot for somewhere in the 3-4K range for low pass midrange and high pass tweeters. I tried looking up the crossover values built into your Polks, but could only find the -12dB value and not the frequency. - For the subwoofer channel, you have two choices: 1) Run the RCA "bass" channels from the Audiocontrol to the subwoofer channel input on the Alpine. This way, you can play with the "Accubass" to see if it is worth the hype. 2) Ignore the RCA "bass" channels from the Audiocontrol and have the Alpine control all bass functions. If so, I HIGHLY recommend investing $30-$50 for the RUX-KNOB. It easily mounts anywhere and uses a phone cable to connect to an input port on the PDX-V9. When plugged in, it overrides the gain control for the sub channel and allows you to adjust subwoofer volume on the fly. to this question. [ Craig Jan 19, 2016 ]

Well if externally from the amp there is a crossover from the woofer to tweeter I would run that off the amp...basically the amp has 5 channels a front left/right a rear left/right and a sub channel each output 100watts...if your only running the 2 speakers off the amp with the sub I would just bridge 1-4 to make only 2 channel output and hook the speakers up that way...the speakers will handle the power and you'll just have to make sure you don't over gain the amp...as long as you don't over gain you won't be over feeding the speakers...also depending on the size of your Polk speakers you may want to set the crossover for them off the amp because it will make the music clearer...I would not run a separate channel to the tweeters because the crossover doesn't cover the ranges you need to cut low levels out also you would need a way to feed signal the same as the other speaker so you would need an rca splitter...all that being said...you should just bridge and run to the speakers with an in-line crossover between the woofer and tweeter and make sure you adjust your gain settings correctly [ Homer Jan 12, 2016 ]

It doesn't matter as long as you match your positive wire to the + and the negative wire to the - . The outside of the plug supplies one of the signals while the inside of the plug supplies the other. Similar to how RCA cables work.
