Pros: no set up, work great

Cons: none

Just the right size.

Written by: Roy B from Round Rock, TX on June 8, 2016

This remote is the perfect size for one-handed in-car use. It has all the functions needed in a remote. My Alpine head unit wasn't advertised as 'remote ready'. But I saw the little port on the front of the unit that would receive remote commands. Ordered a remote, and it works! I now have a remote controlled Alpine Radio. I'm glad I got mine. Thanks, -RFB

Pros: Great size. Lots of functions. Long battery life.

Cons: Can't think of any "cons".

Basic Remote

Written by: Joaquin from Sierra Vista, AZ on June 6, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good basic remote. Does what I need it to do; volume, skip, rewind and change stations.

Pros: Right size remote. I like that when I change channels (SiriusXM) it changes channels in numeric order, 6 - 7 - 8 - 9....and not to the next pre-set.

Written by: Craig from MN on June 14, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works as advertised. It does have to be aimed more/less directly at the radio head unit to work. I'm using it with the Alpine CDE-154BT and while the remote does not control much of what the receiver is capable of doing, it does control all of the basics. All in all I'm perfectly happy with it and IMO it is a bargain for the price.

Pros: As already mentioned.

Cons: As already mentioned.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this remote to complement my Alpine CDE-154BT head unit. It allows me to operate most of the functions of my receiver, but there are a few that are inaccessible with the remote. I expected this and it's completely understandable. I'd rather have a simplified remote than one crammed from top to bottom with buttons.

Pros: Easy to use. Works as you'd expect.

Cons: None

IR, not RF -- BEWARE

Written by: tom from Honolulu on February 3, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Be aware that this is an IR remote, not RF. You must point it directly at the head unit for it to work. There are other remotes (not for Alpine) that use RF, so you can have the remote mounted somewhere in your cockpit and just press the buttons. With this IR remote, you must point it directly at the head unit. Pretty useless, unless you have an RV with the head unit mounted out of reach and you actually couldn't reach it easily.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: IR and not RF

Great little Alpine Remote

Written by: Greendemon from Daytona Beach, FL on July 29, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the remote for my fiancée new Alpine CDE-HD149BT CD Receiver with Bluetooth and HD Radio Built-in. Also that deck is awesome I would definitely would recommend the deck and the remote. Although I do think alpine should give you a remote when you buy a new deck you shouldn't have to purchase one separately but it's only $20.00 at crutchfield and they shipped it for free. I couldn't believe how fast I got it though I ordered the remote late Saturday afternoon on my phone and it was delivered Monday afternoon I couldn't be happier. All in all great overall experience no problems and it's alpine you can't go wrong with there stuff it's the best.

Pros: Great price at crutchfield and supper fast shipping also there customer service was awesome and there located in The good ole USA and that's well worth giving crutchfield your business.

Cons: Alpine should give you a new remote with a new CD player purchase.

Cons: Must be pointed directly at the receiver, a little off and nothing happens. Can't select sources, can't adjust sound, only volume.

Nice unit

Written by: Captain Pappy from CONUS on July 1, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a handy little remote. It should come standard with Alpine's radios, especially the higher end units. Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer and most others include one and that almost steered me to a Kenwood. I bought one of these remotes to swap between my CDE-HD149BT in my truck and the CDE-W235BT in a Van. Comes with a mounting bracket but I didn't use it. Good price but again, should come with the radios! Great service by Crutchfield. Shipped super fast!!

Pros: Nice, handy and easy to use. No programming required so I could use it with two different Alpine units without any problems.

Cons: None with the unit but it should come standard when you buy a new Alpine car stereo.

Good Remote

Written by: BillM from Midlothian,VA on June 15, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was hesitant to pay extra for the remote when I bought the Alpine head unit based on my experience with the remote from the Kenwood deck I was replacing. The Kenwood remote was hit or miss, mostly miss, with performing the desired action. In addition the ridge around the buttons would irritate your thumb while you would be trying to press the button various ways to get it to work. The Alpine however is very responsive. I have not had it ignore any commands yet. There is also no finger discomfort when pressing the buttons. A much better layout than the Kenwood.

Pros: Works. No discomfort. Good layout

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was going to give in to buying the $50 remote but I have to realize all I wanted from the remote was the basic functionalities. It's light and comes with a clip to hold the remote. The clip has double sided sticky foam to place it in the car and also has 4 holes in the corners if you want to screw it down to the car. Unfortunately it doesn't come with the small screws to do so. I didn't even need to sync or anything. Worked as soon as the batteries went in. Great remote.

Pros: small, light, works right away.

Cons: no little screws for the clip.

Remote Control

Written by: Rick A. from New Berlin, NY on May 23, 2013

I received this remote automatically with my Alpine CDA-9887 head unit that I purchased from Crutchfield several years ago. It has always worked for what it is. You can't control all features with a head unit, but you can do the basics. It's not "slim" but it never slides off of the seat in front of my armrest (face down) and the batteries seem to last a long time in it. I agree that a nice HU should come standard with a remote. I just bought a CDE-HD149BT HU and once again, it will do the basics since Alpine's "top of the line" single DIN does not come with any remote. In all fairness, it's not Crutchfield's fault. Alpine dropped the ball. I would recommend this remote to complete the simple tasks such as power on/off, mute, pause, skip.

Pros: Good battery life, large enough that you don't lose it, will still control some of the latest HUs.

Cons: Alpine should have a remote come standard with their HUs.

I need a simple remote for volume control, switching sources and bands. This does exactly what I need it to do. I haven't found a place to stick the cradle in the cab of my pickup truck so it just sits on the seat beside me. I figure if I have to reach all the way to the radio (or further) to reach the remote I may as well just twist the knobs on the radio. You may have a better surface to stick the remote - all my surfaces are curved.

DO NOT order this remote if you are using the iDA-x200 (I assume that this applies to all similar decks, such as the iDA-x300, 001, and 100). I ordered this from Crutchfield, and it arrived promptly and just as they said it would. This is not Crutchfield's fault at all. I checked on Alpine's website, and this remote was listed as an accessory for the iDA-x200. When I received this product, I noticed that it would do everything but the most important thing... control the iPod browsing feature of my deck. Due to the fact that the iDA-x200 is an "iPod only" receiver, this remote is basically useless to me.

Q & A

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

This the perfect match for the CDE-143BT! [ Dwayne L.  Jul 23, 2016 ]
This is a replacement for an item that I may have left unused for too long. It worked great, but I let my car sit for several months and I think the batteries leaked acid into the unit causing failure. The Alpine car stereo that it came with has been a joy to own. I put it together with a modest amplifier and it blew me away. The remote is necessary as I have an older automobie with a manual transmission. The remote is very convenient. Thank you Crutchfield for making this so convenient. [ Frank  Jul 14, 2016 ]
So I don't wear out buttons the unit. [ michael  May 18, 2016 ]
I wanted a remote as an add on for easy access while driving. [ Cynthia  Apr 01, 2016 ]
Only remote compatible with my head/navigation unit [ Gary  Mar 19, 2016 ]
Works with my radio [ carl  Dec 23, 2015 ]
Unit did not come with one. Plus I like to be able to change the volume and tracks on the CD with out taking my eyes off the road. And it's handy. [ JAMES  Dec 13, 2015 ]

It works on any 2005 and newer "remote ready" deck. [ ADMIR  Nov 26, 2015 ]
I do not know. I have an Alpine CDE-HD138BT that iuse this remote for. This remote will work for that receiver. You should be able to download the PDF manual for your head unit and determine which Alpine remote will work for you. [ Mark  Jan 24, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your current system. They will be able to pull up your receiver and see if this will work. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff  Jan 21, 2014 ]  Staff
