About the Alpine RUX-KNOB

Buck Pomerantz
Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

The RUX-KNOB remote level controller works with Alpine's mono subwoofer amplifiers so you can manage your bass level from the front of your vehicle. The RUX-KNOB adjusts your amp's level from its set maximum volume all the way down to virtually "off." Since it adjusts level and not "bass boost," you'll maintain the same bass tone as you turn the volume up and down. You can control multiple amplifiers with a single remote by adding a standard phone cable splitter (not included).

Product highlights:

  • remote level controller for Alpine PDX, MRV, and MRX Series subwoofer amplifiers
  • adjusts gain from 0 to -12 dB
  • for use with Alpine mono subwoofer amplifiers
  • multi-amp capable (standard phone cable splitter required — not included)
  • 16' connection cable
  • warranty: 1 year
  • MFR # RUX-KNOB

What's in the box:

  • Wired remote bass level control knob
  • 16' Connection cable (with a RJ-25 connector on each end)
  • 4 Mounting screws

Q
Do you need to turn up bass eq screw to use the rux knob on pdr v75?
brent  Mar 17, 2017

A
The Alpine RUX-KNOB adjusts the bass level independently from the Bass EQ on your PDR-V75 amplifier. So regardless of how you have the Bass EQ set on the amp, you can still use the RUX-KNOB to adjust the output of the subwoofer. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Hope that helps!

Q
Will this work on a 1000 watt JL amp?
kailio  May 18, 2016

A
The RUX-KNOB is only compatible with Alpine PDX, MRV, and MRX Series subwoofer amplifiers. We do have some remotes that work with select JL Audio amps and you can find them on our website here: http://www.crutchfield.com/g_237550/Amplifier-Processor-Remotes.html (just select JL Audio under "Brand" using the filters to the left of the page) If you have any other questions, feel free to speak with an expert Advisor via the "Contact Us" link at the top of our site. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
How long does it last? I have used other brands before and they seem to wear out after a year. At that point the knob never tops out, just begins to spin freely. Has anyone experienced this issue with this product?

A
I have had mine for quite awhile now and it is still really sturdy and responsive, the design of the knob does not look like it would be able to "Free Spin".

I had it since June of 2014 and haven't had any issues

I have not had any issues with this knob at all. I only use it when I entering a neighborhood or other areas where I want to limit my sub.

A spinning knob may be simply a loose set screw. I haven't had that problem. My experience is that this adjustment makes only small changes to the sound. Not as useful as I expected.

J, ive had mine well over a year while constantly constantly adjusting it with no issues whatsoever. I dont know how i would have survived without it. Im planning on buying another Alpine amp, i hope i can run a splitter to control them simultaneously. Art

I've had the product for about a year and a half now, and use it several times a week to make small adjustments to the bass in my truck. It is still precise and accurate after a good amount of use.

Am coming up on two years and haven't had a bit of trouble. Bought it because my wife can't tolerate base notes because of a dental implant. I can turn the base off and on depending if she is in the car with me. So the knob has had a lot of use and still working as new. Am well pleased with it.

Q
I just purchased this knob and the second i plugged it in I cold hear the volume drastically drop and with the knob turned all the way up its not even close to being as loud as it was before the knob? It's an alpine 500 amp any advise would be great

You need to access the subwoofer volume control on the head unit and turn it up about 3/4 to max. This will give the RUX-KNOB a larger operating range. I have installed several and had to do this each time. Good luck!

I have the same setup and I didn't experience this problem. Where do you have the gain set on the amp itself? Maybe that's your problem just tweak with the settings on the amp.
john k  Jan 05, 2015
A
The RUX-KNOB only acts like amp gain and can only go as high as the amp is set. The knob only realy turns down the amp. I suggest turning the amp gain up a little higher after installing knob.
