Alpine's Type-R component systems will dazzle you with vibrant soundstaging and concert hall realism. Premium materials and innovative design features generate exceptional sound and simplify installation.

Install the SPR-136A 5-1/4" component system's 1" silk dome tweeters in either flush or surface mounts with the convenient quick-snap mounting ring. Then pivot them up to 20° to fine tune your stereo imaging. An aluminum-coated polypropylene cone pounds out tight bass, thanks to an extra-large magnet with a vented pole piece.

External crossovers (12 dB/octave high-pass, 6 dB/octave low-pass) with easy-to-use attenuation controls channel frequencies to the proper drivers for seamless and efficient sound reproduction. Tweeter protection diverts excessive power away from the tweeter.

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

Nice set of components

Written By Anonymous, CT on Saturday, March 26, 2005

These speakers are great for an upgrade. These speakers have good midrange and excelent SQ. However the one weakness is they're ability to handle bass. If you want crankablity your bass setting must be all the day down. I paid $120 for them at the time they were still $249. These are good for a step up but if you're looking for a speaker that gives you sound with an impact these arn't meant for the job.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these speakers in my wifes truck. By far the best bang for the buck speakers I have installed in a while.

Nice Speakers

A great buy for 150 bucks, took me a while to get them installed because im not real good at this stuff. I put them in my 2000 Montero Sport and they sound really good in there with some dynamat to stop some of the vibrations. They are running off an Alpine CDE-9845 which pushes 16x4 watts RMS.

Excellent Alpines

Written By Ian, Fremont, NH on Wednesday, March 09, 2005

My father and I installed these components in my 1994 Lexus. They are powered by a Kenwood 2 channel amp pushing 40W RMS. These components sound excellent, with smooth midbass and clear highs. The mids can hit hard and have proved durable. The tweeters make the music in my car so much louder and cleaner. Every nuance can be heard by these tweeters and your sound will improve dramatically.

Great set of 5.25's

Written By thomas, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, March 07, 2005

This set of speakers was basically an impulse buy B/C of the price. So happy I did though. The highs are crystal clear, thanks to the 3-step tweeter attenuation on the crossover. My old set of comps (Infinity), sounded good but would make my ears "tired" after long periods of time. The soft domes on these are great yielding smooth transparent sound. When I first looked at mid driver I was amazed at how stout this little thing really was, it has a motor structure which I can only compare to a subwoofer. The mid bass was a little lacking at first (common among smaller drivers), as a quick remedy I placed the 5x7 XTC foam baffles (also available here)behind my mounting plates (made my own out of .25 MDF) and BOOM literally. After a little tweaking these are some of best sounding on the market in this price range, especially at ~$150 from here. Crutchfield really came through again!

I have these in the front of my car they are run off of my alpine 9813 deck.26watts rms.they play extremely loud they dont put out great bass but do excellent mids and well as great imaging without being to harsh like many component tweeters i have heard. But if i ran an amp to them they may be better at bass but for just my deck power they are impressive.the crossovers are excellent constuction also.if you want high end components at a good price go with these.if you want to get the most from them run an amp to them.
