About the Alpine SPR-69

Buck Pomerantz

Exceptional performance, even at high volume

Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Like it loud? Alpine designed their Type-R speakers for people who like to turn it up. They'll deliver big, dynamic sound with plenty of bass, and they'll handle lots of volume. They'll work great with your car stereo, but they really come into their own when you power them with an outboard amp.

Alpine SPR-69

Fine-tuned for clarity and balance

The SPR-69 6"x9" speakers feature multi-layer hybrid fiber woofers that deliver really strong bass response. Alpine's adapted the specially ridged surround, originally developed for their subs, to these speakers, so you get consistent, extended cone movement that pushes a lot of air. The silk tweeters use a superior ring-dome design to produce smooth highs that bring out your music's detail and depth with no shrillness, plus they swivel to focus the sound better for your seating position.

Smaller, stronger neodymium magnets

Alpine uses powerful neodymium magnets which are much smaller than traditional magnets, so the SPR-69's high-density polymer frames will fit into more places than most 6"x9" speakers. Type-R speakers have earned their reputation in the past as the masters of "crank it to the max," but Alpine has really kicked the performance factor of the latest models up a notch or two.

Product Research

Features

Woofers: The Alpine Type-R series coaxial speakers feature multi-layered hybrid fiber woofer cones. For durability and superior linearity, the woofers use rubber surrounds.

HAMR Surround: Type-R speakers use Alpine's multi roll HAMR surround (patent pending), a technology developed for Alpine subwoofers that maintains control and stability at higher volume levels. HAMR surround combines increased cone area and long linear cone excursion for deep, powerful bass response.

Swiveling Tweeters: The speakers are equipped with 1" (25mm) silk dome tweeters. Alpine's EQ Ring improves the tweeter's dispersion characteristics, providing excellent off-axis response. You can also tilt the tweeters up to 15° to focus the sound where it should be, not pointed at your feet.

Neodymium Magnet: The new smaller neodymium magnet on the Type-R series allows the speaker dimensions to be smaller, making them easier to install in a wide variety of vehicles. They are also lighter than designs using standard magnet technology.

HD Polymer Frame: The new Type-R speakers use a revolutionary HD Polymer frame, making the speaker stronger, lighter, and easier to install.

Mounting: Using the included brackets, the SPR-69 can be bottom mounted.

Q
is the small terminal positive or negative? Alpine SPR-69

The small terminal is the negative.

Crutchfield includes vehicle-specific adapters for many vehicles (that's what I opted to do) it comes with spade connectors on one end for connection to the speakers and your car's speaker connector on the other -- that said, you ask a great question, the owners manual doesn't provide any guidance. My belief is that the small terminal would be negative or ground and the larger terminal would be positive. The good news, if the markings aren't on the speaker terminals themselves, is that you can always test this by ear: what your listening for is the combination that gives you the greatest bass oomph -- the one that sounds fuller and deeper is right combination. If the polarity is reversed, bass will sound weak.

Q
Hi, i can only install speakers on the rear of my car (front doors don't work) and I'd like to buy these. Do I have to get an amp to make these work?

For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.
