Classic Alpine sound

The sonic specialists at Alpine optimize their SPS-410 4" speakers for great range and impressive tone definition, even at low power levels. You can connect these versatile Type-S Series speakers to your factory stereo for an immediate sonic improvement, or hook them up to a powerful aftermarket stereo or amp for increased performance.

Mineral-fortified polypropylene cones are exceptionally stiff, yet lightweight, which means they can push out accurate upper bass and deliver clear midrange. Resilient rubber surrounds help keep the woofer centered for accurate cone movement, reducing distortion. Silk dome tweeters provide warm high notes that bring out the character of the instruments and vocals. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Product Highlights:

  • 4" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • mineral-fortified polypropylene woofer cone with rubber surround
  • 3/4" silk dome tweeter
  • power range: 2-45 watts RMS (140 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 97-22,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 86 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-11/16"
  • grilles not included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Amazing speaker for it's size. I was locked into a 4" speaker and needed something with reasonable overall performance. This speaker delivers great highs as expected but also good mids and some bass.

Pros: Much beter than expected overall sound and volume from a 4" speaker.

Cons: Would be nice if it came with grills if you need them.

1986 toyota truck under dash speakers

1986 Toyota Pickup
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What I needed was a high quality set of speakers that reproduce classical music at a moderate volume setting. These speakers do very well on most of the range of sound. There is no way these little speakers can reproduce the sound of very low pipe organ sounds, yet they do provide a very elegant sound on most classical music sounds. They were easy to install. Old speakers had only two corner mounting screws, and the new speakers have 4 corners. One corner tab will need to be removed on each speaker so they will fit,

Pros: The speaker wire adapter connection worked very well. Very high quality of sound provided by these speakers.

Cons: I needed to nip off one corner mount on each speaker for this install on a Toyota truck 1986 with speakers under the dash on left and right sides.

2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers brought me everything I wanted. I own a FJ Cruiser and initially they did not fit in the speaker holes in the dash. But with a little custom work I got them to fit perfectly and it was well worth the effort. The stock speakers were tiny little tweeter like speakers and replacing them with these was a step in the right direction. I also bought another set that I am going to be installing in the rear openings on my Cruiser. Haven't gotten around to this yet but can't wait to get more sound behind me to match my subs already installed.

Pros: Clear Precise Loud

Cons: None

Got these for my husband for Christmas for his beloved '91 4-Runner. He installed 4 speakers and a JVC stereo in about 2 hours. My product advisor at Crutchfield was excellent. I would have to say my experience with Crutchfield was the best on-line experience I've ever had.

Pros: Quality. Price. Easy installation.

Great Speakers for the money! They beat Mercedes factory speakers.

1987 Mercedes-Benz 300D-T
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace Mercedes factory speakers in my daughter's W124 300D. We've owned this car since new and the sound system has always been a big disappointment. I should have bought these a decade ago. These were used to replace the factory 4" rear units as well as the the factory 5" front units. The ears on the speakers had to be trimmed using a small cutoff wheel on a Dremel tool in order to make things fit in dash pockets..... but they work perfectly and look like factory... reused factory grills without an issue. I would buy again without hesitation.

Pros: Very nice quality sound for the money. Tonal range is vastly superior to factory Mercedes speakers at about 1/5 the price. Minor tweaks to the mounting ears so that they would fit into the Mercedes speaker factory mounts. I used these to replace the factory 5" front units as well as the factory 4" rear units and they all sound superior to what Benz supplied from the factory.

Cons: No complaints.... would buy again!

This is the simple solution for us restoration car nuts. Crutchfield recommended these as a direct replacement for all four 4" stock location speakers. Bolt right in, can use stock grills so no mods needed. They sound surprisingly rich, Quite a bargain for me. I'm very satisfied.

Pros: direct replacement for my stock speakers, easy to install, sound great/.

Cons: Bargain price, but now I want to upgrade further.

AUDI OWNERS BEWARE I Bought these to replace the blown factory speakers in my front doors. The factory ones were 41/2 not 4 and there was no way to mount it with what I was given. I had to go to a audio shop to have them installed by gutting the old speaker and putting the new one in it. Other then that great speakers.

1994 Saab 9000
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Hey, what can I say, these are Alpines! Legendary Alpine clarity with rich deep lows, great mid range, and infinite highs. These SPS 410s are being used as front speakers in a SAAB 9000 Aero Hatchback. The stereo is simple, a Clarion NZ 500 , two 4" Alpines in the front, two 6" Alpines in the back, a 150 watt Fosgate amp powering a 10" Pioneer sub in the hatch. Not overly complicated but sounds tons better than the factory Bose in my CTS, and Lexus systems. Loud and clear all the way up to max.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the factory speakers on my 1999 Porsche 996, both dash and backseat panels, with Alpine SPS-410's. The sound quality was vastly improved and much better than when the vehicle was new. Improvements in the bass was most noticeable but the high ends were clearer and crisper. A great improvement which allowed me to use the original speaker grills.

Pros: Improved bass and high end. Fits in the existing enclosures and allows use of the Porsche speaker grills.

Cons: Minor modifications required to attach the speakers to the grills.

Great sounding speakers. Crutchfield said that they would not fit in my car, but after talking to the helpful reps, they allowed me to purchase the speakers and attempt a custom install. With a little modification, they fit flawlessly.

Pros: - Sound great. - They are Alpines!

Cons: - Lack bass (expected because you should have a sub system with these)

Great Jeep Wrangler Pod Speaker Replacement

Written by: Brandon from Texas on September 23, 2011

I used these in the stock Rubicon 7 speaker system. Removed the tweeter and woofer from the pods in the dash and sound way better than any 5 1/4 you would stuff in there without an enclosure. These are much nicer sounding and less distorted. The mids are there too. Dont expect bass but they do breakup less than the 5 1/4 with plates mounted in the same location.

The stock speakers have bass blockers stock inside the enclosure cut the green and black wires off the stock speaker and solder the new alpines into the bass blocker wires, green is NEG and black is POS. Not to be confused with the plug wires in the dash, they are black red/brown LEFT and Violet/Blue on he Right. I am talking about the wires in the 7 speaker system Pods.

Get these for the Wrangler! I got a great deal on these. They are a steal!

1984 Porsche 911
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We bought these to replace the original rear speakers in my wife's 1984 Porsche 911. The original sound system had never worked well. We put a new Kenwood HD receiver in dash and a set of the Alpine SPS-510s in the door. What a difference. You can actually hear the music even with the top down. For less than $300 we put a great sounding system into her car. Very clear and sharp sound. Since the car is a convertable we didn't want to go overboard with the system since weather and theft are much more of a problem in a drop top. Very satisfied with the product and the service we received from Crutchfield.
