Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Alpine's Type-S speakers combine outstanding materials and construction with an attractive price. Their efficient design provides powerful sound even when system power is low — yet beefy internal parts ensure they can handle it when you crank the volume.

But powerful output doesn't count for much if you don't like what you're hearing. The SPS-57C2 5"x7" speakers are bound to please your ears — pivoting silk dome tweeters direct clear highs to your ears without a hint of harshness. The aluminum-coated woofer cones move freely in the air-injected rubber surrounds for full, strong, and accurate bass response. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are suitable for most installations.

A world of difference

Written By Rick, Springfield, VA on Wednesday, December 05, 2007

Just installed two sets into my '06 Ford Focus ZX5. With only the factory radio/cd unit, these speakers are performing extremely well and they are not broken in yet. They are efficient (92db sensitivity), the bass is tight and the treble is outstanding. A little weak in the midrange, but for the money, I am completly satisfied with the performance of these speakers. Tell a friend, if they are looking for speakers to replace their factory speakers and they are on a budget, these are the speakers for them!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased two pair of these to replace factory speakers in an 03' Grand Marquis. They gave my car a Home speaker sound, Full and Smooth, The Factory speakers just couldnt fill in for the Mid Bass and certinly no real help with highs once the sub was put in. I soon added an amp to the 5X7's just to keep the Music clear at higher volume(my Max listening volume), I like it Loud so for me the amp was needed. The amp will let you run really high Trebble settings and stay clean even with very Dynamic Music. The Mid Bass of the 5X7's can be be a bit of a reach to the 10" Sub but mostly a nice blend.

Now I cant wait to enjoy my Car Audio everyday!

Other Eqp installed:
Alpine 9856 HU (Deck)
Alpine MRP-F250 (4ch 40watt p/ch amp)
Alpine MRP-M650 (mono 400 watt amp)
Alpine type R 10" (Sub - Sealed Enclosure)

Tbird Rocks

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the rear and front door factory speakers with these. Big improvement over the factory speakers. I couldn't believe the poor speakers they put in the '03 Tbird. I can now hear crisp (not shrill) highs and a nice tight base. I have no other speakers to compare these to, except the orginal factory; but I can't imagine getting any better sound from any brand. Very happy with Alpine.

Compliment Alpine 6 1/2" front speakers well

Great for short-term

Written By Austin, Comfort, TX on Thursday, July 13, 2006

These speakers worked great in the rear deck of my 01 Mustang till I decided to put Dynamat to dampen everything and well my speakers could no longer hide that they were on the verge of becoming blown. I have heard that the newer model is an improvement however I have not heard them first hand. I also have a pair of 5x7 Alpine Type R Components in the front and they are AMAZING. I also forgot to mention that I had a very little MTX 2 Channel amp pushing all of my mids so they did have alittle upgraded power from the headunit but not much. Now Im having to go back and purchase the better quality speakers that I neglected to do before which was only 1 year ago. So basically if you need a short-term fix they work great, but don't expect to get a long-life span out of these speakers.

The Better Alpine 5X7 Option

Written By JR, Dallas, TX on Saturday, April 22, 2006

These are more affordable than the Alpine Type-R SPR-57LP, and the provide much better overall sound. The bass is decent, better than average for a 5x7. Where these really stand apart from the Type-R SPR-57LP is in the highs. Good clarity, good range. I've been pleased with these.

Product Research

Aluminum-coated Polypropylene Woofer Cones: Each speaker features an aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer. Aluminum adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability.

Air-injected Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use air-injected rubber surrounds.

Silk Dome Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 1" silk dome tweeter for smooth high frequencies. The tweeters are adjustable and will pivot approximately 15° to optimize imaging.

Mounting Rings: Without any adapter, the speakers fit a standard 5"x7" top mount opening. One of the supplied adapter rings allows the speakers to be installed in a standard 6"x8" opening and many special Ford openings. The other adapter rings allow bottom mounting.
