Mineral-fortified polypropylene cones are exceptionally stiff, yet lightweight, which means they can push out accurate bass and deliver clear midrange. Resilient rubber surrounds help keep the woofer centered for accurate cone movement, reducing distortion. You can aim the separate silk dome tweeters toward you so that they deliver the strongest possible stereo image.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Features

Poly-Mica Woofer Cones: Each woofer features a Poly-Mica cone and butyl rubber surround. Mica adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability.

Silk Dome Tweeters: The 1" wide-range silk dome tweeters offer clean, non-fatiguing sound even under extreme high frequency demands.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters can be flush mounted using the supplied flush mount bracket and ring. Once mounted, the tweeters can swivel approximately 30° for optimum imaging. The tweeters can also be mounted in factory tweeter locations behind factory tweeter grilles using the supplied stealth mounting bracket.

Flush Mount (swivel) Factory Location (bottom mount) Factory Location (top mount)
Mounting Depth 0.663" 0.789" 0"
Mounting Height 0.440" N/A 0.806"
Cutout Diameter 2.004" 1.716" N/A
Frame Diameter 2.275" 2.668" 2.587"

Woofer Mounting: Without an adapter, the woofers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit standard 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a variety of standard 3-hole 6-1/2" applications, Ford 4-hole 6-1/2" applications, and non-standard 6-3/4" applications, without any modification.

Crossovers: The Alpine SPS-610C features low-pass crossovers attached to each woofer's input terminal and high-pass crossovers in-line with the tweeters' speaker wires.

Q
Can these speakers be dropped to 2 ohms for more power?
spencer  Dec 05, 2017
1 answer
A
The Alpine SPS-610C have a 4-ohm impedance, and I'm afraid there's no way to change/drop that to a lower impedance. For more details or to discuss further, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!

I purchased these with the ktp-445a power pack and they have ZERO BASS...any idea what the problem is? Powered through a new alpine HU.

Q
This is advertised with both low-pass and hi-pass inline crossovers. Do you know the frequencies of the crossovers? Thanks!
marc  Mar 28, 2017
1 answer
A
The cutoff frequencies of the supplied crossovers are not published by Alpine. Together, the midbass drivers and tweeters have a combined frequency response of 70-22,000Hz. If you need to know the crossover points, you may be able to get them by contacting Alpine directly: 800-257-4631 I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
So I have an 07 2500hd classic. Non Bose crew cab. I bought the 610s for rear and 610c for fronts as instructed at best buy. Thinking my stock radio/CD player was probably perfect because GM usually has decent tunes. Installed all speakers. Used gm plug adapters. Did not use capacitor for tweets because truck factory wired for them. 2 days blown drivers speaker...... Kinda annoyed because it's factory set up and wiring. Anyone else have this problem?
michael  Sep 20, 2016
1 answer
A
The tweeters and woofers in the non-Bose system are wired in parallel with the crossover for each built into the speaker. Not using the Alpine crossovers could have been what caused them to get damaged. Also, I would not expect a big change in volume levels and trying to get more volume than you did before could have caused them to blow as well. Feel free to call an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 a personal recommendation on a system. HTH! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

They have HD Polymer frames if that's what you were asking. I felt they were very sturdy and strong. I have been very happy with them

Can these speakers be mounted with a metra 82-7500 bracket ? Bracket states for 5 1/4 to 6 1/2. Alpine identifys as a 6 1/2 but is listed as a 6 3/4 by crutchfield. Thanks!

Q
IF THE TWEETER CROSSOVER NET BE WIRES IN REVERSE WILL IT WORK PROPERLY?
ken  Mar 06, 2016
1 answer
A
You'll want to connect the leads for each speaker in the same manner to ensure each driver will be in phase with the others. The tweeters have pre-attached "quick slide" connectors to help ensure you connect them properly. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
The speakers come with two separate cylindrical looking pieces wrapped in black plastic tubing. Each side has connector wires coming out. It seems to be something I would connect between the speaker itself and the connectors on my car. What is this piece and is it necessary for the speakers to function properly?
michael aaron  Dec 28, 2015

A
I believe you're describing the crossovers for the tweeters. Each one should be wired in line on one side of each tweeter.
kevin  Dec 29, 2015
A
Those should be the wiring from the main speaker to the tweeter. The cylindrical piece I think is some kind of capacitor to keep the high frequency to the tweeter only. Your factory harness should plug into a supplied wiring adapter and that should plug into the main speaker so no splicing is necessary. I hope that helps.
robert  Dec 28, 2015
A
I Believe that's the crossovers for the tweeters

Q
Will these speakers work well with a factory stereo?
mitchell  Oct 08, 2015
5 answers
A
They will work, whether or not they work "well" will depend on the factory stereo. They are good quality speakers that will sound good as long as the signal being sent to them is a quality signal from a quality stereo. Hope that makes sense. In other words your speakers are limited by the sound quality of the stereo and factory stereos can sound great and they can sound like crap depending on the car. bottom line, I'd upgrade your stereo as well but you will almost assuredly hear a great improvement by upgrading to these speakers.
christian  Oct 10, 2015
A
Yes. Sound great with factory stereo.
dylan  Oct 09, 2015
A
Worked great with my 2003 GM factory receiver and a powered subwoofer.
robert  Oct 09, 2015
A
They absolutely will. I installed them in my 03 silverado. They did ok. Then I realized my factory stereo didn't sound so great. So I replaced it and now those speakers sound awesome. Plenty of base with good mid range sound. I have tweeters up front to round out the overall sound in the truck. Install was very easy and straightforward as well.

Yes, I have a factory radio on my car! It works just fine.

Yes they come with them. About a 3 inch rectangle box. I mounted mine in my dash with double sided tape and zip ties to be safe. 07 trailblazer
michael  May 14, 2015
A
The crossover comes with the speakers. I was able to stuff the crossover in the car door armrest. I think the separate tweeter, woofer, and crossover combination provides the best performance without replacing the car's built in head unit.
james d  May 14, 2015
A
It has a built-in inline coil crossover. So you wont have to buy a separate one, unless you want more options in a physical crossover.
matthew  May 14, 2015
A
It does come with the crossover
david  May 14, 2015
Q
While the included Metra 72-6514 harness is nice for the woofers, what about the tweeters? They do not take the same harness.

Q
How did everyone mount the inline crossovers on the tweeter wire? Did you all just let it hang? I don't see a good way to attach this to anything.
alyssa  Mar 08, 2014

A
I just let it lie in-line with the wire path.
charles g  Mar 10, 2014

What I did was put the crossover right on top of the plastic speaker adapter and actually used tape. Not the best solution, but I was more worried about getting it to stay there until I got the door panel back on. No issues after that.

I actually sent mine back as I got a different component set, but best is to call technical. They really do know their stuff.

I actually had some leftover strips of DynaMat from my install on the car. Kinda just glued the crossovers down using the DynaMat strips if that helps.
david r  Mar 09, 2014
A
A simple solution is to use two nylon wire ties.
william  Mar 09, 2014
A
Hot glue or tape to side of speaker mount.I hot glued them to the door speaker bracket on side of it so it didn't interfere with anything inside door and twist tie extra wire from crossover.
michelle  Mar 09, 2014
A
I just let it hang in the door
michael  Mar 09, 2014
A
Don't let them just hang this well cause stress on your wires and over a short time the wires well brake I used some plastic zip ties to hold in place. I used longer ones to reach and cut off the extra. Not sure what vehicle your installing them in but make sure you have everything secure in your door panels other wise it well rattle and make noise and then you'll be doing it all over again I hope this helps good luck and great choice in speakers I have mine in a 2001 GMC and they sound great.

Q
Will a Headunit with a built in amp be enough power for these speakers? I would rather not have to buy an amp as well. The headunit i'm thinking of getting has the following output: RMS: 14 watts Peak: 50 watts
matt  Feb 25, 2014

A
Thanks for your question. For information on built in amp vs. purchasing an amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
