A stellar upgrade

The sonic specialists at Alpine optimize their SPS-619 6"x9" speakers for great range and impressive tone definition, even at low power levels. You can connect these versatile Type-S Series speakers to your factory stereo for an immediate sonic improvement, or hook them up to a powerful aftermarket stereo or amp for increased performance.

Mineral-fortified polypropylene cones are exceptionally stiff, yet lightweight, which means they can push out accurate bass and deliver clear midrange. Resilient rubber surrounds help keep the woofer centered for accurate cone movement, reducing distortion. Silk dome midrange drivers and tweeters bring out all the fullness and detail in your music. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

2013 MINI Roadster
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These work great as the rear speakers in a Mini Cooper Roadster. The factory deck isn't powerful enough to activate the full prowess, but with 50W per channel flowing through these babies, the sound is wonderful!

Pros: Easy to install. Great build quality. Great range of sound.

Cons: None, really. Just don't expect your factory deck to be able to access the full range of sound. With 50W flowing through each speaker, they sound amazing!

The speakers sound nice. I'm running an Alpine 4 channel amp to them. I can hear all the instruments, the highs and mids sound nice.

Pros: Nice, loud clear sound.

Cons: The grilles have to be purchased separately.

I finished out my Alpine BT replacement head unit with these speakers. Why did I wait so long? Some modification of the rear panels was needed but still installed both speakers in less than a hour. Great 3 way speaker.

Pros: Crisp, clean sound with no distortion at high volume.

Cons:

One year in

Written by: TL from Charlotte,NC on June 12, 2015

After a year of having two of these in the front doors in my 4Runner, plus two Alpine tweeters in the dash, two Polk three ways in the back doors all powered by a Kenwood head and amp, with a 10" sub and two more Alpines in the tailgate powered by an Alpine amp, I can say that I have achieved my goal of feeling like I on tenth row center at a live Phish show.

Pros: Clarity and value.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the second time purchasing a set of the 6x9's Alpine Type-S speakers. Till this day I still believe for the money you are getting the best value in clarity of MIDs and highs followed by nice tight responsive bass if you wish from even just from your 60 watt head unit alone. They may even sound a little better if cleaned up by a small 4 channel amp, but that will be your own personal ears preference and taste if you even feel you needed it. I personally am fine with out a amp for my loud satisfactory needs while in traffic blowing off stress.

Pros: Best bang for your buck in quality and sound !

Cons: Not needed depending on your head unit, but .. a small 4 channel amp may take these to their full potential if you feel the need.

great product

Awesome 6x9's

Written by: Austin from Arizona on January 27, 2014

I purchased these speakers about 6 months ago and immediately ripped my door pannels off and replaced the stock speakers with these. Only 2 things come to mind with these speakers: crisp and clear. Not to mention they help with my digital design 12" subs in bringing the ear bleeding. I plan on buying more in the future!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pretty decent speaker for the money. If it was any more expensive I would give it 4 stars. The low end could be a bit better - but it is not bad. I installed these in the doors of a FJ Cruiser driving them off of an Alpine W927HD head unit.

Cons:

these sound REAL good

Written by: matt k from cape cod MA on February 25, 2012

ive had these for a little while and once they break in these speakers do punch pretty hard in terms of tighter accurate bass. The best part is the mids and highs. a good eq will help make the bass boomier if thats what you want but the overall sonic range of these is pretty damn good. i use an alpine head unit without an amp, and they sound real good, they are bottom mounted on the rear deck in a 79 camaro which makes the bass response waaaay better than what it would be if i didnt use the trunk as an enclosure (these were in a volvo mid door panel mounted). your gonna need a sub with these if you want bigger bass and with an amp driving them they do get LOUD but no distortion ever. SO FAR no problems other than the kinda cheesy factory connecters they come with. ive hammered these pretty good but you need to let them "break in" for a bit before you play em loud.

Pros: mid and highs sound real good, durable, well made.

Cons: factory connectors may come off under heavy bass, solder em on no biggie price is kinda steep, they do need a little "break in time"

It looks like the Alpine speakers will be too tall to fit under your factory speaker grilles. If you are willing to modify the door panel/speaker grille - then you can probably get them to fit. [ Jeff  Apr 21, 2014 ]  Staff
It looks like there are issues with both the depth available in the door, and the distance available under the factory grill for the tweeter. For full details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Jeff  Mar 24, 2014 ]  Staff
