Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Accessories Our take on the Alpine SPS-69C2 by Buck Pomerantz Why replace your car's original speakers? The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience. Alpine's Type-S speakers combine outstanding materials and precise construction with an attractive price. Their efficient design provides powerful sound even when system power is low yet beefy internal parts ensure they can handle it when you crank the volume. But powerful output doesn't count for much if you don't like what you're hearing. Features Aluminum-coated Polypropylene Woofer Cones: Each speaker features an aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer. Aluminum adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability. Air-injected Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use air-injected rubber surrounds. Silk Dome Swivel Tweeter: Each speaker uses a silk dome tweeter for smooth high frequencies. The speaker features a swivel/angle tweeter design for better imaging and livelier sound in your vehicle. Wave-Guide Design: The Type-S speakers feature a wave-guide grill design over the tweeter for better in-cabin sound expansion and less distortion. The angle of the tweeter wave-guide complements the angle of the surround guard (when used with the supplied grilles), resulting in linear expansion of sound and less distortion of mid and high frequencies. Mounting Rings: Without any adapter, the speakers are standard 6"x9" top mounts. The supplied adapter rings allow the speakers to be installed in a bottom mount application. Lets just start by saying these combined with my Alpine SPS-17C2 6-1/2"/6-3/4" sound great in my 05' Nissan Frontier. I started by replacing my Rear factory Blaupunkt Speakers. One of the Speakers started sounding scratchy so I decided to get the SPS-17C2's and clean up the sound. The 6-1/2"s sounded so good I decided to try and get the Front Speakers. They are 6"X9"s on my Nissan. I found these SPS-69C2's at a awesome price. The problem was for my Y/M/M the car outfitter was showing this product would not fit. I would not take no for an answer. I called Crutchfield got one of there Customer Service Reps. on the phone she looked up the Depth Specs. It was a minor fraction of a inch that the Speakers would not fit like .002! I decided to give them a try. Why not for the price? I replaced the Front Left first with the door disassembled and Speaker in turned the key rolled the window down and it worked. Smooth sailing from there! Put the door back together and did the same on the Left Front. So after all the SPS-69C2's did work and fit with no problems. My complete factory speakers are replaced accept the dash speakers with Alpine S-series. I would have to say it sounds superior. The Mid's and High's are quality for a great price$$ Some recommendations have Crutchfield Rep. email you color diagram for your Y/M/M before you get started that way you know positive and negative wires when not using a harness. Also make sure to pivot the silk dome tweeter to direct the sound. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I have them hooked to a wheelchair system i made. The bass is not that loud at the deepest notes but it still thumps on the higher bass frequencies. The tweeter is the best part since it has a neodymium magnet and never distorts. Im powering them with a small sized 15 watts x 2 amp and it still pounds on that low amount of power. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Nice Improvement Written By Ben, NJ on Thursday, February 07, 2008 I guess Crutchfield is closing these out. Just installed into the rear deck of an '07 Accord sedan. Agent recommended upgrading the fronts too, but I wasn't sure I could do the install. My system is completely stock, other than the rear Alpines. Here is what I noticed: Stock '07 Accord 6x9's have the smallest magnet I've ever seen in a 6x9 and do not have a tweeter or midrange - before, the volume level from the rear was not as loud as I would have liked - now the new Alpines are louder and volume matches the level from the stock front speakers. I also notice the highs coming from the rear that weren't there from the stocks. The sound quality is better - the bass is crisper. As I said, The crutchfield rep - suggested I change the front speakers too, and he is probably right - but the rears need it more - and although you can sometimes get "unmatched" sound mixing 2 sets of speakers - that is not the case here. I am sticking with my stock system, so I won't be able to get the full potential from these Alpines, but at this price - one cannot say "no"! I am happy with my purchase. 8 out of 11 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. After using Alpine CD players for several years, I decided to replace only the interior speakers in my 2002 Dodge Neon. I was always pleased and impressed with Alpine's CD Player's quality and outstanding reputation. With that being said, I decided to give a pair of the SPS-69C2's a shot, mostly because of the price, quality construction, silk dome tweeters, and Crutchfield's incredible reputation for service and support. Besides taking a few minutes to remove the Rear Deck trim and paneling, the installation was a breeze with the Wire Harnesses that were included. These speakers are only being powered by a Alpine CDA-9847 Head Unit, but they sound just as good with an external 4-Channel Amplifier. The silk dome tweeters produce a "life-like" sound which is rich and bold. The High's sound clean and smooth. The Mid's are well-balanced and harmonious. The Low's produce "light bass," which is all that they should do, because they are not designed to act or perform like a subwoofer. Overall, for the price, sound quality and construction, everything that is included, and Crutchfield's A+ support, this is a "Bargain Buy!!!" For the money, you can't get a better speaker if you only want to upgrade your interior speakers only! 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No
