Alpine's Type-S speakers combine outstanding materials and construction with an attractive price. Their efficient design provides powerful sound even when system power is low — yet beefy internal parts ensure they can handle it when you crank the volume.

But powerful output doesn't count for much if you don't like what you're hearing. The SPS-69C3 6"x9" speakers are bound to please your ears — silk midrange drivers and dome tweeters render clear mids and highs without a hint of harshness. The aluminum-coated woofer cones move freely in the air-injected rubber surrounds for full, strong, and accurate bass response.

Not What I Expected

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a bit disapointed after i installed these speakers. The sound was not as great as most of the reviews expresed. I find the sound is not rich and has a slight hollowness to them. I spent an hour in the driveway adjusting my deck to get a sound i could at least live with. I have a pioneer deck with built in mosfet 4X50w maybe thats my problem, these might need a more powerful stand alone amp.

Good for factory replacement i guess will never buy alpine again tho

Excelent Product, great value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was amazed by the quality of these speakers after i put them in, the response is amazing and the bass is unbelievable even without the use of an amp. These really bumped up the level of sound in my '01 camry. Pairing these with my pioneer deck really made it sound great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers a year ago to add to my system. I had an 2001 Escort. 5 1/4Infinity doors and 6x8 Pioneer rear deck. The Alpines didn't fit so I bought boxes for them.I had them for a week before getting into a car accident. I was just recently able to re-install them. Now my systems running on a Kenwood amp. These speakers sound incredible on my new amp. They give great bass, mids and highs. I am buying another pair(poss.2) to build an even bigger system. I am a audiophile and car nut. I now drive I highly modified 2000 dodge avenger with dynomat thoughout. It helps. BUY THEM.

awesome set of 3 ways

when i went to buy a pair i was gonna buy some pioneers because theyre cheaper, but they didnt sound the way i wanted them to, so i looked at the alpines and listened to them, and they are by farthe nicest sounding 6x9s i have ever heard. i didnt even need speakers, but after hearing these, i did. when i got these, i had to drill holes in my rear deck because the last ones were held on by a bracketbut these didnt fit the bracket(basket was too deep)

strengths-design, awesome highs and lows, just clear, crisp sound

weaknesses-none so far

These speakers have a nice tight bass response & the trebles are very crisp. I'm running 50w rms to each which makes them play loud and clear. I don't really care for the grill design but thats just me. Overall, these speakers sound great & are a big improvement over the OEM's.

Excellent value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these speakers and at first was very disappointed by the bass. However, i removed the baffles that I had bought and these things have been sounding better and better ever since, They need room to bounce freely. Alpine quality! Crutchfield is the place to shop, unparalleled service and support.

These speakers definitely provide a punch!!!!

Written By Thomas, New Britain, CT on Thursday, October 19, 2006

These speakers were an excellent choice. I have them hooked directly to my Alpine HU, CDA9856, 18rms output. I can turn these speakers up and hear everything as clear as day...Highs and Lows. The only word of caution, I have the Boston Acoustics, S65RC, for the front of my 98 Honda Accord and the 3 way action of these speakers in the rear appear to overpower the Bostons when the volume is turned up. Suggestion if you have a good quality tweeter for the front...go with a good quality two way in the rear, if you want to balance the bass out with the highs your tweeter provides in the front of your vehicle. Otherwise, excellent buy!!!

Poor Performance is Never a Bargain

Written By Richard, Tampa Bay, FL on Wednesday, October 11, 2006

I bought these speakers to replace the factory 6x9's in my Kia Optima. I chose them based on Alpine's reputation and the suggestion of a Crutchfield advisor.

Unfortunately, these speakers sound awful.

Specifically, they have very muddy bass, muffled mids, and non-existant highs. I have adjusted the EQ curves in the head unit and adjusted the gains on the amp in an attempt to make these speakers work. I also have played them for about two weeks, so this is not "break-in" issue.

The factory speakers have much more solid bass and clear mids. Neither had any high detail.

These are going back to Crutchfield, and I will have to find another pair of speakers that will work.

Even though the speakers are awful, I still love Crutchfield. They are tops in customer service and all of the extras they provide (instal guides, tech support, etc.) are wonderful!

I purchased these 6x9's to replace my factory speakers in my 2004 Nissan Altima. These speakers sound great, very high treble and very clear. I'm also an Alpine fan.

Great Sound, Good Price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers as replacements for the factory speakers in the rear deck of my 2000 Plymouth Neon. I knew they would make my system sound better, but I never expected them to sound as great as they do. These speakers pack a real punch, and hit the high and mid notes great as well. If your looking for a good pair of 6x9's to jazz up your system, look no further!

Aluminum-coated Polypropylene Woofer Cones: Each speaker features an aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer. Aluminum adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability.

Air-injected Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use air-injected rubber surrounds.

Silk Dome Midrange and Tweeter: Each speaker uses a silk dome midrange and silk dome tweeter for smooth mid and high frequencies.

Mounting Rings: Without any adapter, the speakers are standard 6"x9" top mounts. The supplied adapter rings allow the speakers to be installed in a bottom mount application.
