Bring on the power

The SWR-10D2 can handle an astounding 1000 watts of RMS power, so be sure to choose a suitable amplifier as these bass monsters definitely want lots of power. Its dual oversized 2-ohm voice coils offer the wiring flexibility you'll appreciate as your system changes and grows, so you can always pull maximum power from your amp. It works well in sealed and ported enclosures so you can choose what kind of bass you want to hear and feel.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.

Features

Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone: This Alpine Type-R subwoofer has a two-piece structural parabolic Kevlar reinforced pulp cone. Kevlar adds strength and tear resistance to the woofer cone while maintaining the benefits of a pulp cone design. There is also an oversized inverted poly-mica dust cap, which increases rigidity and virtually eliminates cone distortion at extreme volume levels.

HAMRS: The woofer features a High Amplitude Multi Roll Surround (HAMRS), made of Santoprene, that allows a large linear excursion and greater SPL. The HAMRS design allows extreme excursions without sacrificing valuable cone area.

Progressive Spider: The progressive Conex spider has reinforced layer tinsel leads to ensure reliable and consistent control of the tinsel leads and eliminate any mechanical noise or interference often seen in high excursion cone designs.

Compound Radius Curve Pole Geometry: Alpine's Patented Compound Radius Curve pole geometry ensures a symmetrical magnetic field, while optimizing flux density to reduce distortion and further improve power handling and output.

Oversized Voice Coil: The oversized (65mm), high-temperature, 4-layer dual voice coils offer increased power handling to 1000W RMS / 3000W Peak.

Dual Voice Coils: For system flexibility, the woofer has two 2-ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1-ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4-ohm load.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals are all located on one side of the woofer. The terminals will accept bare wire up to 8 gauge, pin connectors, or banana plugs.

Jumpers: Included with the woofer are two voice coil terminal jumpers. These jumpers allow you to easily wire the voice coils in parallel (for a 1-ohm load) or series (for a 4-ohm load).

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume ranges from 0.48 cubic feet to 0.93 cubic feet, with 0.58 cubic feet being the ideal size.

Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume ranges from 0.83 cubic feet to 1.38 cubic feet. The ideal size is 1.1 cubic feet, using a slot port measuring 10" (W) x 1" (H) x 20" (L).

Yes, just need enough space to allow for the excursion of the sub.
robert  Jan 15, 2018
A
it depends on how much room you have
augustine  Jan 14, 2018
A
Absolutely. Just take into account speaker excursion. You don't want it to hit the floor.

Dear Tyler M. I installed two of these incredible subs in an enclosed box downfiring 1 inch above the floor power by the Alpine mono amp PDR- M65. And I stay awake at night unsettled by the fact I have to leave my truck out there with the system off. Seriously, that was a shamelss plug which translated means I am so happy with the dual coil subs that I can't contain my excitement. I remember jumping the the two separate terminals in each unit, look into parallel ve series connections and make sure you are doing it one way or the other and find a speaker you know works and try it. The head units are complicated these days, you may not be sending the signal you think you are so do yourself a favor before you waste hours and hours, test with something else, even a multimeter or somthing like that. Hope that tells you you made a great decision even if you need to exchange it, call the boys at install at Crutchfield, they will help you through it or send you a replacement, That Crutchfield has the best customer service of any company I have ever in my 50 years had the pleasure of working with. Good luck.

Only thing I can think of is signal wire

Do you have the sub wired to power at 2 ohms? The alpine 10d2 is a 2 ohm sub. There is also the 4 ohm version which is 10d4 you might have the sub wired to power at 4 ohms instead of 2 ohms which is what you need to wire it at.
tyler joseph  Apr 15, 2015

Your remote sensing might not be hooked up or even working. Try sending power to the remote sensing terminal.

Q
What else do I need to buy if I get two of these subs? And do I need to buy D4's or D2's?

You need to power them,I ran a alpine 500 rms to each Voice coil( 4 amps total). I went with d2 so I can power them with 500 rms at a decent price .4ohm may be more stable ,but I am not sure.i don't regret getting them they hit much harder than my s series,I would go for it!!

If you buy two of these alpine sub's, you will need to purchase an amplifier as well. Once you decide if you wanna go with the D4 or the D2's them decide on the amp. If you go with a D4 then you will wanna buy and amplifier that will match the 4 ohms of the sub woofer. Preferably a class D mono amplifier. This goes the same with if you go with the D2 alpine. D2 is @ 2 ohms so same here, I would recommend a class D mono amplifier as well. Now deciding between a D2 or D4 is on ohms. D4 requires more power to make the subwoofer preform while a D2 requires power but not as much. I went with the D2 10" alpine type r. If you were to go with two of those ones I would prefer getting and amp that is at least 1200 watt RMS. But overall first decide which subs you want either the D2's or D4's. After deciding on that make a decision on a class D mono amplifier that is rated and matches the ohms selection specifically from the sub (2 or 4 ohms). I definitely would stay with an alpine class d mono amplifier just to stay with the same brand so you won't have worries of something not matching up. I know for a fact you won't be disappointed purchasing an alpine type r subwoofer. These are well put together and can take a beating. I hope this helps good luck.

You'll need an amplifier and an amp install kit. I recommend the Alpine MRX-M110 amp. If you have this amp go with the D2's. That makes it two Ohm capable. If you go with another amp you'll have to check the specs to see if it supports 2 ohm or 4 ohm. Hope this helps. Good choice of speaker by the way.
