A versatile performer

The R2-W12D4 handles up to 750 watts RMS, so it's ready for your high-powered amp. Its dual oversized 4-ohm voice coils offer wiring flexibility for multiple subwoofer setups. Since it works well in sealed or ported enclosures you'll enjoy your music the way you like to hear it.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.

Features

Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone: This Alpine R-Series subwoofer has a two-piece structural parabolic Kevlar reinforced pulp cone. Kevlar adds strength and tear resistance to the woofer cone while maintaining the benefits of a pulp cone design. There is also an oversized inverted polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap, which increases rigidity and reduces cone distortion at extreme volume levels.

HAMRS: The woofer features a High Amplitude Multi Roll Surround (HAMRS), made of Santoprene Rubber, that allows a large linear excursion and greater SPL. The HAMRS design allows extreme excursions without sacrificing valuable cone area.

Progressive Spider: The progressive spider has reinforced layer tinsel leads to ensure reliable and consistent control of the tinsel leads and eliminate any mechanical noise or interference often seen in high excursion cone designs.

Compound Radius Curve Pole Geometry: Alpine's Patented Compound Radius Curve pole geometry ensures a symmetrical magnetic field, while optimizing flux density to reduce distortion and further improve power handling and output.

Dual Voice Coils: For system flexibility, the woofer has two 4Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals are all located on one side of the woofer. The terminals will accept bare wire up to 8-gauge, pin connectors, or single banana plugs.

Jumpers: Included with the woofer are two voice coil terminal jumpers, allowing you to easily wire the voice coils in parallel (for a 2Ω load) or series (for an 8Ω load).

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume (gross) range is from 0.65 to 1.1 ft³ cubic feet, with 0.85 ft³ cubic feet being the ideal size.

Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume range is from 1.1 to 1.6 ft³. The ideal size is 1.55 ft³ using a slot port measuring 12½" (width) x 1½" (height) x 22" (length), resulting in a tuning frequency of 36 Hz.

Q
Would a mono amp at 1200 watt rms x1 at 1ohm power 2 of these subs?

Yes. That would be an acceptable amplifier output rating to pair with two of these subs.

Greetings Bo, and thank you for your question. As long as that 1200 watt amplifier is 1200 watts RMS, and not peak and it is 1ohm stable, it would give each sub 600 watts. 70% of max RMS is optimum for a subwoofer, and 600 watts would be above 70%.
