Product Research

Features

Molded Polypropylene Cone: This Alpine Type-R marine subwoofer has a molded polypropylene cone with a 2-piece structural parabolic design.

HAMRS: The SWR-M100 woofer features a High Amplitude Multi Roll Surround (HAMRS), made of injection-molded Santoprene, that allows for an incredible amount of linear excursion and greater SPL.

Progressive Nomex Spider: This subwoofer has a progressive Nomex spider for added stability and mechanical durability. The custom progressive rolls gives the woofer a longer, more linear stroke with maximum centering and restoring force. Special edge control design and Nomex construction provide excellent tear resistance, strength and long-term reliability.

Tinsel Leads: The woofer features insulated, 16-gauge stranded tinsel leads that are sewn to the spider for added strength and durability.

Frame: The woofer is mounted to a custom, high-strength, 5-leg frame made of injection-molded polypropylene. The woofer is protected by a silver plastic grille, attached to the frame. A rubber mounting gasket helps to seal the woofer into the enclosure.

Hidden Screw Mounting: The 8 supplied mounting screws are inserted through the grille and into the mounting surface. A round grille trim ring fits over the grille to cover the screw holes. This helps protect the hardware from corrosion as well as adds to the cosmetics of the woofer system.

Voice Coil: The woofer has a single 4-layer, 4-ohm voice coil of high-temperature copper wire wound on a TIL former.

Terminals: The terminals are located on one side of the woofer basket, and feature a 2-way design. You can use .205" (+) and .187" (-) female quick slides on your speaker wires, or directly insert the speaker wire, up to 12 gauge, into the terminal and tighten the set screw with the supplied Allen wrench.

Enclosure: The SWR-M100 is designed to work in a sealed enclosure or infinite baffle. The optimum sealed box volume is 4.85 cu/ft.

I don't see why you couldn't. From my understanding, the marine rating simply means it is more resilient to outdoor conditions. This is a good sub that thumps.
