Amazing Alpine sound, great SiriusXM programming

The CDE-SXM145BT CD receiver gives you the great sound you expect from Alpine, plus SiriusXM satellite radio's amazing variety of music, sports, news, and entertainment.

The SiriusXM programming (subscription required) comes through the SXV200 SiriusXM tuner that's included with this receiver. You'll also enjoy these convenient features:

  • iTunes® Tagging, which allows you to mark songs for purchase later at the iTunes store;
  • SiriusXM Replay™ for pause, rewind and replay of up to 60 minutes of live content;
  • Song Alert and Artist Alert, which constantly scans all channels for your favorites;
  • and Game Alert™ which lets you know when your favorite NFL, NBA, NHL or college teams is playing live.

The CDE-SXM145BT also includes Tune Scan and Tune Start, which let you rewind and replay content you might have missed while listening to another channel. Tune Scan lets you quickly preview what's playing on each of the 6 preset channels on your selected band preset. When you hear something you like, Tune Start buffers up to 30 minutes of programming, so you can back up and play your song from the beginning.

Built-in Bluetooth™

Hands-free calling isn't just a convenience these days, it's practically a necessity. The CDE-SXM145BT includes built-in Bluetooth, so you can talk safely and stream music from Pandora Internet Radio using your iPhone.

Great for your stored iPod® and iPhone® content, too

Of course, you can also use the receiver controls to navigate your iPod's music library — just plug in your device to the convenient front-panel USB input and get ready to rock out (or chill out, depending on your preference). Alpine's rotary encoder makes really easy to find your favorite songs, albums, artists, or playlists quickly. Your copilots will love Passenger Control Mode, which lets them play DJ while you focus on driving.

App Direct Mode opens up more music

If you have an iPhone®, you know that the music you've stored on it is only part of the story — streaming apps let you tune into a plethora of music and other programs. The CDE-SXM145BT features App Direct Mode, which gives you access to select music apps. App Direct Mode offers limited control over your apps, with features such as play/pause and next track.

Ready for expansion

A powerful internal amp gives you plenty of headroom to turn up the volume without the sound getting distorted and harsh. You can adjust the overall tone to taste with the 3-band parametric EQ, which allows you to choose the centerpoint for your bass, midrange, and treble controls.

Alpine CDE-SXM145BT CD receiver

This Alpine's user-friendly controls make it easy to operate on the road.

If you want to take the performance up another notch, you can plug Alpine's KTP-445A Power Pack directly into to the CDE-SXM145BT. This plug-and-play powerhouse kicks up the output to a robust 45 watts RMS per channel, but it requires almost no wiring and takes up very little space. If you want to bring on the bass, this Alpine also features two sets of RCA preamp outputs, perfect for adding a powered sub or an amp.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Note: Sorry, Crutchfield cannot ship Alpine products to Guam or Puerto Rico.

Works nicely so far! I like it!

This is my second or third purchase from Crutchfield and likely my last. I purchased this Alpine system to get Sirius/XM and hands free bluetooth in my car. I also purchased the installation because I am not savvy with this stuff. The installation was fast but I was a little disappointed that the microphone for the bluetooth was just plugged into the auxilary input and clamped to the air vent instead of being installed from the back and the wire fitted around the windshield to the rear-view mirror. Oh well. A couple of months later the unit fell back into the dash about two inches. I called Crutchfield who referred me to their installation contractor who had me send them pictures of the problem. The installer came back and reinstalled the unit. A week later the Sirius antennae wire began to droop into the knee well on the passenger side and a couple weeks later it detached. I called the contractor directly but never got a call back. At nearly the same time the unit stopped reading out the names of stations, artists, time, etc. It will only show the actual station dial location. I managed to get the antennae attached again myself but am super disappointed in the entire transaction and would not do it again.

Pros: Good sound quality. Fairly easy to use.

Cons: No integrated bluetooth microphone. Bad installation...twice. Unit stops giving. Most text display features stopped working after a few months. iTunes tagging not working. Buttons are very small.

Install went smoothly, skipped the steering wheel adapter, never use it . Had a problem with a door speaker dropping out with the old factory unit--still got it. Have to go back into the dash and check wiring. Wish Crutchfield would supply the crimp-on connectors that are shown in the directions. Could only find butt connectors for sale in my hood, and they are not convincing.

    Cons:

Crutchfield response on April 27, 2016 Crutchfield does indeed sell crimp connector kits and Posi-Product connectors that can help with car stereo installations.

This was a replacement for the failing factory radio in my wife's van. She wanted controls and features that were similar to original. The Alpine had everything she needed and more. We gave up on AM/FM years ago as it is all commercials and static. So the included satellite receiver and the dual aux ports were essential. We may utilize the Blue Tooth down the road.

Pros: I liked that the satellite receiver was included. My wife likes it and that's what my goal was.

Cons: I'm a little disappointed with the display text. Since I couldn't get the CD-rom instructions to play on any of our computers, I may just be missing a critical step in the set up.

Great product! This stereo was for my son's first vehicle. I bought and installed an Alpine stereo in my first car, about 30 yrs ago, and I wanted to do the same with my son. So it was as much about the experience and time with my son as it was about the stereo. Alpine once again does not disappoint. Great sound and with obvious more features, such as Bluetooth connectivity and satellite radio. Easy to install, sounds incredible but navigating thru set-up is time consuming.

    Pros: Install, sound, looks great

    Cons: Set-up, just challenging

I've been an Alpine fan for over 20 years and the CDE-SXM145BT - my latest - does not disappoint. I bought this head unit to replace the factory unit in my 2006 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited with the 7 speaker system. It has a small sub-woofer in the console, 5 1/4" overhead and 4x6 two-ways in the dash. When I decided to replace the factory head unit - due to the volume knob ceasing to work properly - I planned a staged, total system replacement. The Alpine was to be the first step. However, after installing it, the whole system came alive. Suddenly, my factory speakers didn't sound so weak. I heard highs they had never produced before, and the little 6 3/4" sub wasn't such a sorry excuse anymore. Now its nothing like a pair of 12" fed by a 1500 watt amp, but the difference for the factory unit was amazing. I'll likely keep the factory cones a little longer - at least until the "new" becomes "normal". Then I'll upgrade the speakers and get to experience the "new" all over again. Thanks Crutchfield.

Pros: Easy replacement of factory unit. Crutchfield supplied all of the wiring harness, antenna adapter, mounting adapter and vehicle specific instructions as a matter of course AND for free, so that I got everything I needed to install it without having to reorder to get the parts I didn't know I needed. That is true front-end Customer Service. I won't go anywhere else.

I bought this unit to replace the factory unit in my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. It's a nice unit, but it's a lot more difficult to operate than the factory unit. I like the fact that it scans the text for the Sirius XM tuner. But it quits scanning after it scans through the info one time. For instance, it will scan "Bluegrass Junction" one time. Then it stops scanning and just says, "Bluegrass." I know these are minor issues. I like the setting that lets me set the FM tuner, Sirius Satellite tuner, and CD player to compensate for different volume levels. Overall, it's a nice unit. I also like the factory preset eq. And an automatic volume adjustment would be nice.

Pros: Love the sound. It's much better than the factory unit. Installation was pretty simple and straight forward.

Cons: The buttons are small and hard to see at night. I wish it had two knobs, a volume and a tuner knob. Some of the settings are a little hard to understand, but a careful review of the instructions clears it up. There are gaps around the face plate. Also the shiny metal of the din sleeve was visible around the edges until I removed the face plate and used a black magic marker so the shiny metal wasn't visible. Again just some minor issues.

The sirius XM portion of the radio keeps losing signal, states check antenna, then suddenly comes back on. The 3 sirius bands keep getting jammed so you are unable to switch bands and are stuck with only 6 pre-sets instead of 18. The unit definitely has problems which show poor workmanship in design. Better off with a unit without sirius radio. Would not buy another Alpine. Very cheaply made, you get what you pay for.

    Pros: Cheap unit, looks nice

Cons: Poor quality of workmanship, channels jam up and signal on satellite keeps dropping out. Sound quality very poor compared to other similar radios not made by Alpine. Cannot recall pre-set satellite channels.

I'm no audiophile, but I installed this in a 2003 Wrangler and the difference over the stock head unit was amazing. Installation was a 'real' snap with the supplied instructions and add-on harness. I installed without any additional amp and it's great, but I also ordered the Alpine KTP-445A amp later to boost the lower end. No real dings on not giving 5 starts, I just reserve that ranking for stuff that completely blows me away. Great unit, easy to install, lots of functions and features that are beyond my understanding, but for plug-n-play it's great. I'll get somebody to explain what 3Band EQ does and how adjusting the high and low band filters make a difference (if I tried to adjust them, what am I listening for ?).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was disappointed with the sound quality. My OEM radio for my 2001 Mercedes E320 died on me so I had to get a new radio. I wanted satellite radio so I bought this one based on the reviews. The E320 came with a Bose system, and the sound quality of the original was very good, good bass and a clear sound. The Alpine does not deliver the same deep clean sound. I played around with the equalizer, but it doesn't help. Also, the OEM radio stayed on when the engine was off when the ignition was on the "aux" position. With the new Alpine, the radio shuts off when I shut off the engine. The Alpine will only stay on when the engine is on.

Pros: Satellite radio. Easy to use.

Cons: -Sound quality on my MB E320 is not very good. -The engine has to be on in order for the radio to work.

For the price it is a good unit- The directions for installation were very inadequate. I had to call Crutchfield 4 times to get it installed. The biggest issue is that you have to solder all the connections on the adapters and the instructions don't give you enough information! The good news they are great about helping you! You might think the rebate is on the unit itself, but the rebate is actually for 3 months of SiriusXM service.

    Pros: The price and sound

THis radop was an upgrade that replaced an OEM unit without XM or Bluetooth. I am very happy with it. Install was pretty smooth. My only gripes are the limited display and tiny control buttons but to pack this much functionality into a unit this small they don't have much choice. Buy this unit is you are considering something in this range. You will be happy.

    Pros: Functionality

Cons: Display is limited Control buttons are small

I am very happy with this Alpine unit especially the interface to the included Sirius module. I am still learning all of the operations but think this single din system is just what I needed to replace the early 2000 factory head unit in my car. Works well, sounds good and was a great value.

Pros: Ease of operation and installation.

Cons: Preset channels are limited but not a big issue. Ambiant/automatic volume adjustment would be nice to have.

I chose five stars for overall value since this whole kit came up with a great price and included SIrius/XM tuner. This was for my wife's car and she, being a theater person, has to have show tunes nearly all of the time except for when it's time for Sinatra. Sound quality could be a touch better but for this price, we're cool with it. Ease of use is where the problem comes in. When she tries to use voice dial, it never seems to get the name right. This means a whole lot more time with eyes on the stereo instead of on the road. Coolness factor- well, it looks like an after market stereo in a semi-luxury class car. Build quality is pretty good but the controls are not as intuitive as they could be. One note, it is hard to read the display on a sunny day but I did not count off for this because that is a problem with the way the car is designed not the stereo. I just wanted to mention that for people reading the review and did not count off for it.

Pros: Has every feature she wants in a car stereo head unit.

Cons: Voice deal leaves a lot to be desired.

This is an overall fine unit that has all of the features I wanted. Overall sound quality is fabulous paired with Infiniti REF6502ix and Infiniti 3002cfx speakers (no amp). BT pairing with my iPhone worked without a hitch. I did notice that hands free call sound quality suffered as compared to my stock unit. Callers just don't sound as good as with my Toyota unit, and of course, I had to string the relatively ugly microphone which is now sticking out of my headliner. So if you want a great sounding unit full of what I'd consider nowadays to be pretty essential features, I'd say this is a great unit to buy. But, I have a few gripes. First off, the buttons on this unit just feel cheap. I'd go so far as to call them poor quality. You push them and get a fairly dissatisfying click. Sometimes you have to mash them to get them to work. Changing bands is a pain as the button isn't completely responsive. It is actually a little distracting to have to look down and find the smallish button and then watch to see if pushing it actually changed the band for you as expected. My second gripe is that the tuner doesn't seem to stay on the band you have it set. For example, start the vehicle listening to a station on SiriusXM band 2 and hit the button for another station on SiriusXM band 2 and you get the station programmed on that button on SiriusXM band 1. What? Why? PITA in my opinion.

    Pros: Sound quality Seamless bluetooth

Cons: Button quality (cheap feel and not a decisive action) Doesn't stay on previously selected band.

I bought this to replace the stock radio in my Suburban. What a great addition! The sound is much clearer, the base is cleaner and the basic functions are easy to use after you read the quick start guide. I purchased this so I can connect my Iphone via Bluetooth to get my music and also have a hands free phone setup. Installation was straight forward and took about 2 hours total for someone with minimal experience. I had one small hitch during the install (wire was a different color than was indicated on the installation sheet). Literally a quick 3 minute call to Crutchfield and he very simply solved the problem. I was amazed at his knowledge and how quickly he was able to trouble shoot and verify that I was looking at the correct wire regardless of color. The controls are very simple to use once you understand what you are doing. I wouldn't call it intuitive but it is not terribly hard either. My only real complaint is that it doesn't come with a full users manual, they include a disc instead. Not the best way to get info on your radio when you are setting it up and learning the features. My phone (4S) pairs easily with the radio and I have been told that the call quality is like being on the phone and not hollow sounding on the other end like a speaker phone. The CD player handles the bumps well and I have yet to have it skip or have a problem due to road vibration. I am pleased with this unit and would buy another one like it should the need ever arise.

Pros: Easy to use with the main 4 buttons together and easy to reach without distracting you from driving. Wonderful sound quality with factory speakers. Great phone features. Screen is easily read in both day and night situations

Cons: It needs to come with a full manual Would like a choice of colors for the screenlighting (only has blue).

I replaced the stock unit in my Grand Marquis along with an XM radio tuner. This is a great upgrade in sound quality and satellite radio performance. I really like the integrated Bluetooth feature and included microphone. I'm in the car for 800 to 1000 highway miles each week, and I wish I had installed this sooner. I've wanted to get an Alpine setup for quite a while, but haven't pulled the trigger until this one. I am STOKED that I did. Install in my 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Wagon was a snap with the kits and docs. The Sirius tuner was a huge bonus, and it came with 3 months of free service (with a 6 month agreement.) Just taking that offer combined with the tuner into consideration, this thing is a steal for the price. Works great with IPhone apps (Spotify, TuneIn Radio, Pandora, a ton of others) via Bluetooth and USB, the Sirius tuning functionality was easy to understand once I signed up and played around with it, and I really love the handsfree functionality. I did have a bit of trouble determining which input on the back was for the handsfree mic...it would have been nice if it were labeled, but easy enough to fix. I've also got an AM radio station that I tune into occasionally here in Atlanta, and my reception on the entire AM band is almost non-existent, which kind of sucks...I can get the same content via the TuneIn app, and stream directly over Bluetooth, so no real problem there. I coupled this unit with some replacement speakers for my front doors (Alpine SPS-510 5-1/4" 2-way Speakers) and they are the peanut butter to the CDE-SXM145BT's jelly. Great sound, simple EQ interface If you're thinking about getting a new receiver with Bluetooth, CD with MP3/WMA capability, USB port, and a SiriusXM tuner, you can't beat this one for the price. Thanks, Crutchfield!

Pros: Feature set, easy to install, sounds amazing, SiriusXM tuner / trial

Cons: AM reception, Mic port labeling (it's the top port, if anyone's curious!)

I told them what I was wanting in a system. They sent me an email with a complete system including everything I would need to install it in my truck. The system is great. the radio plate fits like a glove. The wiring instructions was a great help. I installed the system really quickly with no problems at all. I will be buying speakers in the near future. Thanks very much.

The radio has nice sound but not much in the way of adjusting the bass, midrange and treble. I don't use the cell phone attachment. I do wish it had a 5 CD changer which this replaced but no one makes them now.

Pros: Nice set of features and has CD, and MP3 as well as Sirius.

Cons: Not the full sound like the radio it replaced. Sirius is nice but fades in and out.

This is overall and great in vehicle entertainment system. It has nearly every feature you want w/o the killer price tag.

Pros: Easy to install. Includes AM/FM w presets, CD, USB, USB iPhone/pad/etc, Bluetooth for both your phone and/or playing music from your phone (wirelessly), SirusXM (all HW and antenna, not an add on later but no subscription), and an Aux in. Documentation is good / OK.

Cons: Has everything but AM-Stereo and DVD (which this is I did not want in my vehicle for safety reasons).

I purchased this to replace my factory Infinity system with NAV since my speakers were shot and it no longer would read the map DVD. The Alpine sounds great with my new Kenwood speakers and looks good. its a much cleaner look than factory with a plug n play SAT radio I had. I love that the sat tuner was part of the package. install was not that hard except the jeeps wiring needed adapted but instructions were provided, once I had that and took my time it all was working good. Call quality so far with the hands free is good people seem to know they are on speaker phone but say they can hear me clearly unlike some devices I tried. BT audio play back is great with my Galaxy S3. it even begins playback where I stopped, even can changed tracks with my steering wheel controls. the tuner seems real good, it picks up lots of stations even with only my 13" off road style antenna. Again SAT radio controls built in is just awesome to me. Satellite sound quality is good as well. I have not used the CD player much or usb function but I'm sure those features work well too.

Pros: Satellite tuner included good hands free call quality decent on board power, but some that want more bass should get an amp and sub, I am ok with it as is. Plenty of other features for the price steering wheel control ready 2 sets of pre-amp outputs to expand your system

Cons: not color a changeable display display areas requires you to choose only one thing to display when in SAT mode (channel name, artist, song title) artist and title would be nice, but display is very readable. I would have preferred a double din head unit to this but one would not easily fit in the vehicle so this is an OK compromise.

I replaced an older Alpine that came with the car originally. I now have much improved sound, plus the SiriusXM radio function which I wanted. The CD player works nicely also. It is a bit tedious to use. I looked around a lot, and this was the only radio I found that did the things I want.

Pros: Great reception, getting all kinds of stations that I did not get before. Many functions. Good sound, and easily adjusted. Display is very readable. Overall the product looks very good

Cons: Understanding how to set the various functions is not obvious. I spent a lot of time with the manual trying to figure it out, but eventually got all working. I do not like that they do not provide a manual, but make you print out one from the CD provided if you want it. Going through the various functions (Tuner, CD, etc.) is in one direction only, and cannot reverse. Thus takes a while to find what you want sometimes.

I'm a big fan of Alpine but this unit might change that opinion. I don't know if Ive received a bad unit or not but so far i have nothing good to say about it. The cd skips over bumps, I get nothing but complaints because of the sound quality when I use the BT feature which my phone, the XM signal constantly cuts out (my previous unit did have any problems), and at times Ill get a "Check Tuner" message on the display and it becomes totally useless. Looks like I'm a minority when it comes to liking this product but I hope you have better luck then I did. So sorry I bought it.

    Pros: Ease of installation

Cons: XM signal cuts out cd skips call quality with the handsfree is horrible

This radio is the "bomb" sounds great, looks great, easy to use, has everything function you want in your car! Between the standard radio, Sirius radio, auxiliary functions and Bluetooth, what more could you ask for?

Pros: With the Crutchfield installation kit, it was seriously a "breeze" to install. Two hours from start to enjoying my new sound!

Cons: As a normal man I hate instruction manuals! You really need to study it to use all of the functions to their best advantage.
