Bluetooth keeps you in touch

Built-in Bluetooth frees up your hands and attention when you take a call, so you can keep your eyes on the road and keep up with business while you're working. Plus, you can stream audio from any smartphone source to the receiver without the clutter of wires. You'll need to purchase an optional external microphone to take advantage of hands-free calling with this receiver.

Whistle while you work

If you're on the road all the time, nothing beats satellite radio for consistently great entertainment. You can add a SiriusXM satellite radio tuner to this receiver, and tune in an unparalleled variety of news, talk, music, and sports wherever you go. You can also plug your iPod® into the front-panel USB input and get your boots scootin' while you're on the job. The receiver also sports an AM, FM, and Weather Band radio tuner with automatic NOAA weather alerts, plus Radio Broadcast Data Service (RBDS) for traffic condition alerts where available.

Slip in your favorite CDs, including those you've loaded with MP3 and WMA files — a 30-second electronic skip protection buffer keeps the music on track when you're on bumpy roads. The front panel's protective covering keeps out any dust, dirt, and grime, while the conformal coating on the internal circuitry ensures reliability. Front and rear auxiliary inputs let you plug in other audio sources.

Note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Excellent in a John Deere 35G excavator

Anonymous from Springfield, VT on 9/12/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed the Jensen JHD3630BT in a 2015 John Deere 35G excavator. The factory installation point was too shallow for a full DIN radio, so I purchased an enclosed under-dash full DIN mount and modified it to use the factory installation holes of the excavator. I cut a piece out of a garden kneeling pad that fits perfectly between the the overlap of the full DIN mount and the window. There is no movement when the machine is operating. To make a clean connection to the excavator, I used a Metra 70-1782 receiver harness. It plugs directly into the factory John Deere harness. The John Deere harness had zero documentation as to pin out. No joke, I relied on photos from factory John Deere radios for sale on eBay to determine which wires needed to be connected and which ones needed to be capped and taped. It was a little work and a blown fuse in the excavator, but it works perfectly. Once the unused wires were shielded, I neatly wrapped all wires together to make what looks like a factory harness from end to end. I also installed an XM tuner and a Jensen Heavy Duty JMICHFP microphone to take full advantage of the radio's Bluetooth capabilities for hands-free calling. In the end, the installation is about as good as it can get. It provides excellent music and call quality, even when at full throttle. It works and looks great!

    Pros: Build quality, sound, XM/Bluetooth

Nice Choice for the Jeep Wrangler

John from Whittier, CA on 8/8/2016

    2001 Jeep Wrangler
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A couple years ago, I had the factory stereo in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler replaced with a reasonably nice Kenwood - that ended up being a terrible choice. The buttons were small and hard to read, the functions too complex, and after bumping around in my Jeep for a couple years, it began to die. The Jensen Heavy Duty seemed a great choice, and I decided to do the job myself. The instructions from Crutchfield were great - the job only took a couple hours and I had everything I needed. As a matter of full disclosure, once I got in to take out the Kenwood, I discovered that it was not braced in, so it's not surprising that it did not last. That said, you can easily see and feel the difference in quality of construction for the Jensen Heavy Duty. The sound is not high end, but this is going into a Jeep Wrangler with a lot of wind noise, and it is definitely comparable to the Kenwood I took out. I love the ease of use, and I can even do hands free calling via Bluetooth with the top down on the Jeep (see my review on the Jensen Heavy Duty microphone - sold separately).

Pros: Heavy duty construction; large, easy to use buttons; ease of use; sound quality for the price point; ease of installation

Cons: I wish it had a setting to adjust the volume with the speed of the vehicle, especially since wind noise increases quite a bit when I get up to speed in my Jeep Wrangler.

Very Well Built, Great Sound and Functionality

Chris J from Springville, UT on 7/8/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this radio as a replacement for an old Stereo in a John Deere Tractor. Install was very easy and quick. The quality is very high and the functionality is awesome. We put our stereos through some pretty rough terrain and so far this has held up very well. I actually purchased a second one for another tractor after I realized how great it actually was.

Pros: Ease of install, sound, functionality, look and display

    Cons: none

    Perfect for my Jeep upgrade

Minn Jeep from Minneapolis, MN on 6/16/2016

    2001 Jeep Wrangler
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Value No regrets on the investment. Note, though, that the skip protection on the CD player (which was a major draw for me, as the stock stereo skipped a lot) involves a lengthy "LOADING CD" message when you first load a CD (or start the car and choose to listen to a CD). I guess that buffer involves "reading" for a buffer length of time in advance? Not a big deal, but maybe worth noting. Sound Quality I'm no expert. It does not compare unfavorably to the stock stereo, so I would say it has solid sound quality. Ease of Use For installation: no clue, had Geek Squad do it. Seems too important a part of my car for me to screw up. But for use: very easy. There is a single double-sided sheet with all the essential features that makes it very quick and easy to, say, shut off Bluetooth and some other features that I have no intention of using. "Coolness Factor" I deliberately bought this because it didn't look as sci-fi as a lot of alternatives, which I felt didn't match the general vibe of a Jeep. And given the Jeep interior, I think this looks fairly natural for a non-OEM component. Build Quality Substantial! The heavy weight that another reviewer noted is certainly true. Too bad it is not winter, because I want to try out how well it works in extreme temperatures; that was the biggest draw for me on this.

    Pros: Nice, simple appearance

Not your normal install, 2004 motorhome

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Never having replaced a radio, had concerns on this project with opening, wire harness connection (new to old) Had little difficulty opening mount hole. ended up pretty good. Found source for new pins to connect new harness to exisiting motorhome wire harness. Had to dig a little for info on the old four speaker plus, minus, wire connections. Matched the wires. Pluged it in. And worked perfect. Crutchfield Expert , gave very good advice on what was , or could be needed to do job. Even sent extra parts in case things were not as expected. Hope the heavy duty factor holds up well.

Pros: Sounds pretty good to me. Seems like directions were A, O.K. Have not had long enough to evaluate more.

Cons: Seems like alot of buttons to push to enter some functions. Guess for all the radio offers, could be worse.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought and installed this heavy duty radio for my Jeep Wrangler in summer of 2013. A little over two years later and I still consider it a great investment. I originally decided to give this radio a try because it was virtually the only heavy duty radio available with Bluetooth that didn't look like something from a spaceship. In fact, it blended in perfectly with the dash as if it was a stock component. Install took about an hour and was straight forward. The hardest part was attaching the unit to the rear support bracket. I mainly use the Bluetooth component of the radio for hands-free phone calls and listening to music on my android phone, and I occasionally play a CD. The sound quality is phenomenal when using the Bluetooth functions and above-average when using the CD function. The LCD display, buttons, and knobs are all still working perfect. The CD scanner can be temperamental, sometimes getting stuck in a loop or reading improperly (began occurring roughly three months after install). Navigation of the menus presented an initial learning curve but make a reasonable amount of sense after using them. Switching between different sources is a breeze and the ability to change the backlighting intensity has proven helpful over when driving days and nights. I typically use the radio to control in-call and Bluetooth audio functions because of how straight forward it is, though occasionally the signal doesn't communicate properly with my phone. Unfortunately, th

Pros: -Great sound quality -Multiple inputs and features -Easy to install

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love this thing! I looked at every stereo that would fit into my 2011 Ford F250 for days. Kept coming back to this one. I had just put a very inexpensive JVC in my girlfriends car, and was impressed with the sound and features. I just loved the look and the simplicity of the Jensen for my truck. This stereo is at least 3 times the weight of her JVC. Build quality is apparent from the moment you have it in your hand. I found it very simple to install, did it in just a few minutes. Sounds great easy to use. If you like things that are built well, and are not flashy, gimmicky kids stuff, you want this one.

Pros: Well built, not flashy, good color scheme, easy to install and use, sounds great... Believe the others that say that this is a great unit for trucks and other heavy duty applications. Crutchfield support is the best there is. Do not buy electronics from any one else, these guys are the best and know what customer service means!

    Cons: None.

    2006 Toyota Tundra
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I did a lot of research for a good quality replacement car stereo with features I could use now and in the future. It seems the aftermarket car stereo companies have been lost in the woods for 10 years. Today, the OEM radios offer better, more reliable integration with smart phones than the aftermarket. Flashing controls, constant color changes and meaningless graphic displays are trendy with the younger generation but I find them very annoying, especially for night driving. Jensen Heavy Duty is a completely different product line catering to commercial, marine, industrial and farm vehicles operating in dirty, humid environments and subjected to a lot of vibration. The radio is a Single DIN chassis so it will fit any car, truck, boat, school bus, tractor trailer and piece of farm/industrial equipment with a cab. When the radio arrived I was shocked by the 3.5 pounds it weighs. Most single DIN radios I have bought and installed weigh half that. There is a large external aluminum heat sink running along the left side of the radio to dissipate heat from the amplifier. Power rating is 45W x 4. On the front panel there is a USB port covered with a rubber plug. The Bluetooth is A2DP/AVRCP and it syncs easily with my iPhones and iPads. If you are going to use the handsfree option for taking cell phone calls, order the microphone (JMICHFP).

Pros: Excellent quality and packs a lot of power in a single DIN chassis. Easy to use controls while driving. Bluetooth works well.

Cons: It is heavy and needs a support strap on the back to secure the radio from bouncing in the dash while vehicle is moving. I didn't mind fabricating the strap because the extra weight gave me more power and a better quality radio. Initial set up is slow and tedious. Navigating the screens is not intuitive. Setting up hands free volume, pairing phones, scanning for NOAA weather stations etc. takes a bit of time. Keep the folding User Guide in the glovebox at all times.

    Good Choice !

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a replacement for the factory dash radio in our motorhome. It was one of the few on the market that had Weather Band. Which I find extremely helpful and a critical safety item. I have been caught three times in tornados while traveling across county. The Crutchfield staff was helpful with installation choices and filling the order. The old radio was an odd "did" size, and crazy wiring system. Yet they were able to solve what came up. I was limited because of the motorhome dash size and placement of switches and such to mount the radio in the same spot. I did have to find a Ford trim kit to finish it, but could not do that until I had everything in hand. The remote, is for my wife. She is to short to reach the radio when we are on the road. And it is a little scary for me to look down and change a channel. Why the RV industry can not figure that out?? So , trip is coming up, and we will see how it all works out.

Pros: Ease of purchase, on time, on target, and a fair price. Great service from the parts department at Crutchfield. Great sound, no jiggle or stops with CD playing going over bumps. Easy to install. I would recommend this to my RV friends.

Cons: Wish there was a connection to the dash dimmer switch. With the large windows in the RV any light will bounce off the windshield. Old eyes and small buttons don't mix. Old age and "coolness factor"...LOL...redundant silly question...Should just have N/A.

I love everything about this radio. I am a truck driver and I use a different truck everyday so the battery keeps all my presets and info when unhooked. The only thing I was disappointed with is that it's advertised as being able to pause and rewind the satellite radio. It does not have this feature.

Pros: Keeps presets and settings stored for 30 days once disconnected. Large buttons makes easy to use. Weather band comes in handy if you travel a lot.

Cons: No pause or rewind for the satellite radio.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The JHD3630BT is very good for my application. Once you learn the controls, it's easy to navigate. I use this stereo in a portable box application. I drive trucks and I change trucks everyday. The best thing about the stereo for me is when I disconnect the power, it holds the presets for 30 days. That's what inspired me to purchase this unit. I have not tried some of the other features yet, like Bluetooth, but I can say overall for all the features I have used I think it is a very good unit.

Pros: Paired with the Polk db651 speakers makes the radio a very good choice for me.

Cons: I don't like the fact that when I restart the vehicle sometimes you have to set the satellite to another station and back to the previous one.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good choice for a second vehicle or truck. Installation went well. Needed to pad between bracket and radio for a snug fit, with no rattle. It does what it says it will do, just with some quirks. MP3 player doesn't operate via the controls in a consistent or logical manner. You must hold the volume knob for three seconds to turn the thing off, then it has an annoying, loud beep to tell you it is turning off. If you hold it for less time, it goes into a bass/treble/bal/fade mode - annoying! You can spend a great deal of time hunched over trying to drive while screwing with this thing!

Pros: Decent enough sound and power. About what I expected for the price. Weather band is nice.

Cons: When you restart your vehicle, the MP3 and the Satellite radio do not continue playing where they left off. You must restart your iPod, etc. You must tune the Satellite radio to another channel and back again to get it to start again. Ipod control is difficult, it takes over control of you MP3 player, and the unit's controls are crummy. You have to unplug to gain control of your iPod, start the play, and then plug it in. Need Steering wheel controls.

    Heavy Duty Series

Heavy Duty: The Jensen Heavy Duty JHD3630 is an in-dash CD receiver with built-in AM/FM/WB tuner and is Sirius Satellite Radio and iPod ready (requires optional Sirius Connect tuner and iPod cable). Jensen Heavy Duty series head units are specifically designed, built, and tested to withstand even the harshest road and work conditions, such as humidity, electrostatic discharge, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations. Its entire front panel is an impervious membrane protected to prevent dirt, grime from accessing control panel through pushbutton gaps. The head unit's conformal coated PCB board and heavy-duty design specification provides maximum durability under all conditions. The following tests are performed on Jensen's Heavy Duty in-dash receivers.

    • Extreme Temperature & Humidity Test: Tested to ensure that the unit will fully function in -22° F to 158° F temperatures, as well as up to 95% relative humidity.
    • Vibration Test: Tested to withstand 4G's at 20-500Hz for 9 hours to ensure the unit can withstand the extreme environments most commonly met in heavy duty applications.
    • RF Performance Test: The RF Chamber test ensures that the stereo keeps clean signals in and the bad signal out, so you are always left with a steady signal without outside interference.
    • Electrostatic Discharge Test: The Electrostatic Discharge Test exposes the radio to up to 25 kilovolts to make sure it can withstand the most severe static build-up while you are out on the job.
    • Severe Electrical Environment Test: The Jensen Heavy Duty radio is designed to survive an alternator battery disconnection, because it is equipped with the necessary component to prevent "Load Dump" destruction.

Single DIN Mounting: This unit is designed for installation in a vehicle with an existing 1-DIN radio opening. In many cases a special installation kit will be required to mount the radio to your vehicle's dashboard. The JHD3630 features an integrated trim-ring (non-removable) and pre-installed cage (removable). Please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to see if your vehicle is compatible.

2-Line Power System: The Jensen Heavy Duty series head unit features a 2-Line Power System which prevents battery drain when the vehicle is turned off.

Non-Volatile Memory: The JHD3630 's non-volatile memory saves your station presets and audio/user menu settings when the battery is disconnected.

    AM/FM/WB Tuner + SiriusXM Ready

AM/FM Tuner: The JHD3630 is equipped with an AM/FM US/EURO tuner that can store up to 30 presets (12AM/18FM). You can search and store AM/FM stations manually or automatically. The head unit also offer Preset Scan which pauses the radio for 5 seconds at each preset station.

RBDS (Radio Broadcast Data Service): This unit is equipped to display RBDS (Radio Broadcast Data Service) information when broadcast the radio station. The following LCD indicators appears when data is received.

    • RBDS: The current radio station is broadcasting RBDS data.
    • PTY: Program Type data is being sent. When flashing, PTY search is in progress. 7-Channel Weatherband Tuner: The JHD3630 is equipped with a built-in weatherband tuner with NOAA weather alert. NOAA Weather Radio is a nationwide weather system that broadcasts local weather emergency information 24 hours a day. The US network has more than 530 stations covering the 50 states as well as the adjacent coast waters, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and the US Pacific Territories.
