If you want to add video capabilities to your vehicle, you've got a couple of choices. You could change the stock receiver to a DVD or multimedia receiver, or you can add a stand-alone DVD player like the Soundstream VDVD-165 to your system. Each route has its own advantages, but in many cases you may prefer to go with a stand-alone player — for example, it's a great choice if you're putting a system into an RV.
You can mount the VDVD-165 in the dash or use the included brackets for other locations.
Soundstream designed the VDVD-165 as a video jack-of-all-trades. Just add a screen and an amp and this player is ready to go as the heart of your vehicle's A/V system — and at a very attractive price, too. You can mount this Soundstream in the single-DIN (2" tall) opening in your dash above or below your factory radio, so it can deliver the DVD signal to your rear screens. Or you can use the supplied brackets to mount it on a variety of flat surfaces, wherever you've got space in your vehicle.
The player comes with a remote control and an IR repeater, so you can take charge of the system when you're out of line of sight. In addition to the front DVD slot, you'll find a convenient USB input. So if you're not watching a movie, you can check out vacation photos or listen to MP3 music files.

Works really good
Cons: Nothing bad about it
Worked well, but face plate did not cover the silver dvd well.
Excellent product at the right price. Will recommend it to anyone. No nonsense player offering both NTSC/PAL formats.
Pros: Good price - Good Quality product
Cons: Hesitate sometimes to take the next DVD, but definitely not a problem.
I bought this DVD player to compliment a pair of cheap 10" rear seat entertainment screens with built-in DVD players. The problem with the cheap units is that they did not have any onboard memory to remember where the DVD was stopped at when the car was turned off so every time I started the car the DVD started over from the beginning. No so with this player. It has onboard memory and does a fantastic job of remembering where you left off when you turn the car off and quickly picks right back up again when you key on and power up. I didn't mount this in the DIN slot but I remote mounted it so I can't comment on that aspect but one thing to note is that the player color is actually a dark metallic gray and not black as it looks in the pictures. The remote is nice, compact and easy to use and has good range. I haven't needed to install the remote IR receiver. No issues with skipping either and I have the unit mounted vertically to the transmission tunnel in the passenger foot well within easy reach of the driver.
Pros: Cost, included mounting brackets, useful remote control, and onboard memory to restart movies where they were stopped even through a key cycle.
Cons: None that I have found yet.
I used this to replace an out-dated VHS system in my older suburban. Super easy to install running the video rca line directly to screen and the audio rca to 3.5mm input on the rear of the stereo so the audio functions through the vehicle speakers. You will need to wire into vehicle hot wire for a custom install. But if you want a quick install, you can purchase the appropriate 12v adapter to simply plug in.
Pros: - Easy to install - As described - Simple functionality...much easier and simplistic than navigating detailed menus of newer car systems Quick off/on and resumes where movie left off
Cons: - installed for a few weeks and none so far!
Just what I need to replace existing DVD player in conversion van.
Pros: fits in opening perfect.
it worked good but the sound was to low in the head phones have to add an filter to help it
Excellent easy to install,user friendly
Compact and flexible installation ways, either you use the big brackets or small ones or just the player you will find a perfect fit on your car. The quality of the product is great and does not cut or shake while driving. Very happy with my purchase. Alan
Pros: Installation flexibility
Installed and wired easily and worked right.
Pros: Flexible voltage 12-24, easy to install in any of our buses.
Cons: None yet.
We have had this for a couple weeks and absolutely love it! We travel a lot for appointments and use it every time we go somewhere. Have not had any problems with it so far. Shipped fast and was easy to install.
Pros: Good quality, low price, easy installation.
Everything works as advertised. Install was smooth and uneventful. Working through Crutchfield was painless and cost effective. Had the player a couple months now and works perfectly.
Pros: Price, performance, ease of install
Excellent quality. Easy to install. The best support team on the planet!!!

Not sure. I would not buy this product. I have had one in my charter bus for less than a year and am going to have to buy a 30.00 local one to replace it because it will not suck in the DVD. I sent the one I ordered for a second bus back because it did not work correctly out of the box. Got a local one on that bus 30.00. Still working. Hope this is helpful. [ KEVIN H Mar 30, 2014 ]
