Installation Note: Soundstream's VR-930B requires adequate clearance for its oversized display when mounted in your vehicle's dashboard. Please call us at 1-888-955-6000 if you require assistance in determining if it will work in your vehicle.

Maximum display, minimum chassis

Soundstream's VR-930B DVD receiver isn't like most big touchscreen display multimedia units. Most are built to be installed in a double-DIN (4" tall) dash opening, so the screen size is by necessity limited to about 7" max. Soundstream took a different direction by putting a detachable 9.3" screen on a single-DIN (2" tall) chassis. This receiver isn't for every car, or every installation, but if you've got some imagination it could be a real show-stopper in your dash, or a cool addition to an RV.

Your media at your fingertips

Soundstream's SmartSense™ touchscreen delivers better clarity and less glare, so you can quickly see all your info. Its icon-based menu system lets you quickly access content from USB drives and SD cards, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth® wireless audio, CDs, and DVDs.

Bluetooth connectivity

Bluetooth allows you to take and make calls using your compatible phone through this receiver, all while keeping your hands on the wheel when talking. The sensitive microphone built into the front panel of the VR-930B lets your callers hear you clearly. Built-in A2DP technology allows you to stream music from your smartphone through this Soundstream without the hassle of plugging in.

The A/V nitty gritty

You can play your MP3 music using the front USB input, DVD/CD player, and SD card slot. Once you've picked your music, you can tweak it with the five EQ presets. You'll dig the five preamp outputs if you're adding amps and subs to your system, and you can use the touchscreen to control the amount of bass coming from your subwoofer.

Use the VR-930B's front audio/video input to hook up your favorite portable audio player, game console, or another video source. This receiver boasts a video output to send movies to young film critics in the backseat. Got a big vehicle? Then you'll appreciate the input for a rear-view camera, so you can safely maneuver into tight parking spots.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

I fell for the looks and the oversized screen. I feel like this unit is not worth the money that I paid for it. The OS feels really outdated compared to other touch screen head units out there. You can only EQ to the radio because when you have media playing via disk, bluetooth, aux, sd, or usb it backs out of the application and stops playing music. USB will not work with my iPhone. The screen is always on and at night is very distracting and bright even on the lowest brightness setting. The customization of this unit is minuscule. You can only EQ Bass and Treble. It gives you about 4 preset EQs. The dim settings are useless. Some things that I do like include the sound quality. Even though there is little to EQ it still sounds good unless you are streaming audio via Bluetooth. When streaming via Bluetooth there is a little interference and you can hear it in the speakers. I do not know if it is my speakers or the head unit but nevertheless it is still annoying. It is a very powerful unit compared to stock. supplies my speakers with more than enough power. The display is simple and sleek. Easy to wire and install if you know what you are doing.

Pros: Sleek Simple to install Easy to use Great sound quality hands free bluetooth

Cons: No customization Outdated GUI Only EQ to Radio Interference when streaming via Bluetooth Only EQ Bass and treble Screen is always on while driving Very bright at night on lowest setting No iphone USB support

Unit is OK. Some aspects are really cool, like the flip up to get at the disk slot. This also helps you get at any dashboard controls that might get covered by the screen. Interface for controls is reasonably intuitive, although not amazing. You'll get it down pretty quickly. The biggest disappointment was the bluetooth. It's pathetic. The mic can't pick anything up. My callers tell me it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel. Not really functional at all.

Overall, the sound is not great at lower volume levels. When you turn up the volume, it starts to sound pretty good. Video looks great when you are playing a DVD - pretty sick actually. You'll love that.

This is the worst headunit you could waste your money on. Returning as we speak!

Pros: It has multiple inputs, and the dvd's play fine, big screen

Cons: If you have an input aux the screen is a default big blue empty screen that says AV-IN, there is no way to change this If you have a usb plugged in, it will only access the folder name the media is stored in, making an artist list almost impossible. Basically you have to name a folder who the artist is and cram all your music in there, regardless of album, which is annoying. The SD slot is mystifying and doesnt load anything I try to put on it Whenever you want to go to the menu the music st

I love the look and size of this radio. But it would not fit my car. The base sat in dash just fine. But when trying to put face display on it would hit gear selector.

Pros: Love the large screen. I did not get to see this one powered up. Because of fit

Cons: To big to fit Does not have where phone gps could be seen on it

My first time using a sound stream product so I am still 100% sure of the build quality but for the most part it's working great. It could use a better design on the display bottoms in screen because it looks just a little too much like a pc screen.

Nice stereo works prefect for my 2001 Dodge Ram. The drop down screen is very clear and functions great. Screen graphics could use some customizing and a little bling but touch screen works flawlessly. Backup camera works phenomenal on this unit with the big screen. I would recommend this unit for any Dodge Ram owner 1997-2001 because it fits over the dash bezel with no modifications.

    Pros: Big screen

Cons: Screen graphics could use some customizing and a little bling
