You'll scroll through playlists and select your favorite tracks right from your factory radio's controls, and enjoy the conveniences and pleasures of instant access to your digital music while you're driving. This adapter also lets you control the music from your steering wheel controls, or even the iPod itself.
The i-VW-T/5v connects to the CD changer port of your compatible Audi or VW factory radio system, transforming the CD changer mode into iPod control. It also adds an auxiliary input so you can play music from virtually any external source through your factory system. DICE keeps up with Apple's latest charging standards, so you won't end up with a dead iPod battery. Warranty: 90 days.
Important Notes: You must disconnect the factory CD changer in order to use this adapter. The adapter connects to the CD changer cable in your vehicle, and comes with a 15-foot vehicle extension harness in case your changer's in the back of your car. Song and artist info will only appear on factory radios with CD Text display. Compatibility Note: Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.
Why would I need an iPod® adapter?
An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.
DICE iPod® Adapter for Audi and Volkswagen Reviews
Average Customer Review:
2007 Audi A4
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I had high hopes for this adapter but I've been completely disappointed. This thing works or I should say doesn't work most of the time. So far I've found no rhyme or reason. Sometimes it will work but the vast majority of times it just doesn't work. I've got a 2007 Audi which according to the charts isn't compatible with this device but the advisor assured me it would work. So now I have a basically useless device sitting in the glove compartment where my CD player used to be.
2007 Audi A3
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
This adapter was easy to hook in where my former 6 CD changer had been in my glove box and the sound from it is great, however I was dissapointed that none of the song names or artists are displayed in my nav system. When I spoke to the tech about buying this, I was told it woudl interface with my nav system. Instead, it just shows: "Title 1, Title 2", etc. so it needs to be pulled out of the glove box and operated from the iPod itself when I want to change tracks. I gave it three stars because of the great sound quality when hooked to my Audi's Bose speakers.
What's in the box?
- iPod interface module
- 14" Vehicle adapter harness
- 15' Vehicle extension harness
- 6.5' iPod dock connector cable
- Installation Guide/User manual
