I originally ordered the Yamaha YBA-11, which, when I received it, proved to be incompatible with my analog receiver. I rang up Crutchfield support, and they recommended the HK BTA 10. And I'm happy I took their recommendation. The price was right, the set-up was simple, and the sound is excellent. It does exactly what I want it to do, and I'm listening to Leonard Bernstein conduct Beethoven's 9th right now. Ahhh.....
Pros: Analog connections, easy set-up, great sound
Cons: Unpredictable range. Sometimes the connection remains strong when I'm streaming the device from across the house, through multiple walls, and sometimes it sputters out when I'm 15 feet away.
I wanted to upgrade my old A/V receiver to get blue tooth broadcasts from my pc, tablet, phone. All worked great. Easy to install and sounds great. I'm playing Pandora right now. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to update an old but still good system.
Pros: Easy to connect & great sound.
Simple setup, works great. good product for older units w/o blue tooth. Distance is very good, farther than advertised.
Pros: Simple, quick response.
Have only used it with Pandora on my iPhone phone
Cons: does not automatically recognize Harman Bluetooth. I have to go to setting on phone each time
The Harman Bluetooth I purchased works great with my Sony receiver I just turn on the receiver and pair it up with my smart phone and you have music it's that easy and was simple to hook up
Pros: Simple hook up and easy to use
This took about 3 minutes to connect to my 20 year old Sony receiver. Plugged it into the "video" inputs and powered it up. Rebooted my iPhone, then started streaming music from several sources--Pandora, Spotify, RadioTunes--as well as from songs stored on the phone. Also connected it to an older iPod loaded with my entire music collection and started streaming with it as well. BTA 10 only recognizes one source at a time, but no big deal since you can only listen to one source at a time. I will probably purchase a second unit to attach to my home theater system.
Pros: Great way to instantly upgrade good equipment that lacks a Bluetooth connection.
What a great way to allow you to stream whatever you like to your Sonos system
Pros: Simple setup, great range, solid design
Cons: Bluetooth limitations allows only one to one connection so you can't switch to multiple device sources without disconnecting previous device.
The product was easy to set up. I found that the device works best when there is a line of sight between phone and BTA 10. Even someone walking in between the two caused the signal to drop out. Very frustrating.
Pros: Easy to set up and works OK if you are close to the device
Cons: Spotty connectivity
Love this thing! I-phone meet my old stereo.
Worked perfectly right out of the box
Pros: Worked as expected
Simple to install, just works. The only drawback I see is that there isn't some way to adjust the level of the signal going into the output device. Since my stereo receiver doesn't have independent gain adjustment for each source, this means a significant variation in sound level between, say, the FM signal, the Bluetooth device, or a CD player.
Just what we needed after purchasing iPod Touch 6Th Gen. Had an Onkyo device to play iPod classic through our older Onkyo receiver, but that device, because it was 30 pin would not allow playing the touch. Super range and clarity. Highly recommend.
Pros: Easy set-up. Works as expected. Great clarity.
Cons: Yet to find any
Pairs easily; good range; ease of use.
Works good up to about 20 ft. Connection in and out after that
Range is about 20 feet, other than that, the product works as expected. Longer cables would have been helpful.
Turned my Marantz amp into a Bluetooth device!
Pros: Easy set up and it worked with all of my devices!!
Works wonderful and sounds great! Easy to connect.
Pros: Very small, fits anywhere.
Cons: No optical.
I've got 2 of these. Simply put, they work great!
Loving it. Its range is about 30 feet as advertised. We have a loft/family room and kitchen. Main system is in the loft and additional speakers in kitchen. We used the RCA cables that came with it and plugged them into the DAT input in the back of our old SONY receiver and now we are using that sound system again. Sounds awesome! Very pleased with it!
Pros: Makes old stereo receiver into a wireless system that I can now use with my iPod touch.
Had it up and working in 5 minutes. Customer Service is the best around.
Product is well constructed and works perfectly. Would recommend to anyone.
Pros: Easy to use.
Great product and quality
Pros: Easy hook up. Works great
Nice product, didn't bother to read the manual, worked fine with iPhone right away.
Pros: Works out of the box as advertised, no problems. Music quality appropriate for bluetooth standard.
Cons: However, the signal from my iPhone gets crappy if more ~30 ft away (I've had other bluetooth devices with better connectivity).
This is a nice, unobtrusive, and inconspicuous device for getting sound to a reciever. The sound is fine considering the use of Bluetooth. Installation and setup was easy... however I still can't figure out how to link other Bluetooth enabled devices to it. The specs state up to 8 devices, the directions do not expand on this. The HK website doesn't have more detailed instructions. I will have to ask customer support.
Pros: Easy setup and great sound considering compressed wireless transmission
Cons: Difficulty setting up additional devicesCrutchfield response on November 25, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Very simple set-up and very good sound
Pros: ease of set-up
This bluetooth adapter works great. Couldn't be happier!
Pros: Easy to set up and use....does everything I needed it for!
The Harman Kardon BTA 10 Bluetooth receiver worked good on three different devices that I hooked it up to with no problems and the audio it sends out sounds great.
Pros: Very Simple to hook up.
Bought for my daughter. Works much better than Air play on tuner. Always works now and I don't have to try and fix air play. Sound is better too
Pros: Easy set up
Cons: No heist mode

Recommended by the Crutchfield tech support person that I spoke with. Support at Crutchfield is amazing. Unfortunately didn't remember his name this time, so I wasn't able to let Crutchfield know when I placed the order They have a list of support folks to choose from when you place an order. Nevertheless, EVERY time I have called over the last 4 years or so, I have always received excellent and friendly help promptly. What a great company! [ Richard Jul 16, 2016 ]
I needed receiver connectivity for my Amazon Music stored on my iMac. Amazon Music is not compatible with Apple Air Play. I had a chat with Crutchfield Agent (Chuck) who recommended the Harman Kardon BTA 10 (Bluetooth). Chuck's Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=58 [ William Jul 12, 2016 ]

i use this to connect my bluetooth phone music to my audio system which is goes through the analog source of my audio system. So i don't forsee any problems with connecting the tv source to your headphones via this bluetooth adapter. i believe the hk bta 10 also comes with the correct wires for a connection between the actually device and your tv but you may want to make sure in case you need to order a different set of cables. This device uses Bluetooth. You will be able to send audio from your Macbook to to the A/V receiver with this using the built in Bluetooth on the computer. If you prefer to add AirPlay, then your best bet may be to get an AppleTV. This would allow you to quickly and easily add AirPlay to your existing system. You can find out more about the AppleTV here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_472APPLTV/Apple-TV.html [ Jeff Aug 31, 2015 ] Staff
this works well without AirPlay. It has it's own Bluetooth address and works well with both Apple and Android devices. I play it thru my six input on Rotel equipment and sound is great! [ LAWRENCE Aug 30, 2015 ]
I am not aware of a booster associated with this product. I have connectivity to at least 30 feet. The product requires a separate power source and will stay on when the receiver is off. [ ROBERT W. Nov 06, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: This won't work to send out a signal to wireless speakers. This is meant to turn an older receiver (with RCA inputs) in to a bluetooth capable device so you can stream audio to it from your tablet or smart phone. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Jul 07, 2014 ] Staff
