Not much to say. It works exactly like I expected it to. Only problem is that the volume isn't as high ias the radio. This only becomes apparent when you unplug your device and it switches to the radio and some "He went to Jared commercial" is blasting in my Jeep.

Read a bunch of reviews and knew I was gambling with the possibility that this would not work. In fact I won the Jack pot! Did not work as advertised. In addition to not working, it memorized my ystem with it and disabled my 6-CD changer function. I couldnt spit out my cd's for almost three weeks, which is the time it took for the system to reinitialize and return to factory settings. Ill be returning thid product if I can.

Pros: Plug and play

Cons: Cheap, and does not work

Chrystal Clear Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used this in my 2007 Chrysler 300. Installation is simple. Took only about 5 minutes. I wanted to keep my factory receiver with navigation and my factory amps, but there was no way to stream music from my phone. I installed the PAC Auxiliary Input Adapter and replaced the factory speakers with Rockford Fosgates all around. This made a crystal clear sound that I'm very impressed with for a factory stereo. My only gripes are that the adjustments for the gain levels are recessed far inside the unit and very small. I had to use a very tiny regular screwdriver I had in a gunsmithing tool kit to adjust them. Also this unit uses the VES portion of the factory radio and when you shut the key off you lose your connection and the regular radio comes back on. Very annoying.

Pros: Easy installation. Allows you to maintain factory equipment and still stream music from handheld devices.

Cons: Gain adjustment is difficult to access. Cannot stream music without the key on.

This product does not work and it sounds like people have known for a long time. You would think you would remove it knowing what you know. Totally disappointed. Will not buy from Crutchfield again.

Pros: None does not work.

Cons: Retailers know there is an issue and still sell the unit.

First one I got did not work so I call and they went through a few steps and it still didn't work so they sent out a new one and three days later it came in the mail and it worked great when I plugged it in. I almost got the dash in and I remembered to turn up the gain screws and it has the best sound. Overall good product as long as it works for a while

Pros: Works great Easy to install

Cons: First one didn't work

PAC Auxiliary Input Adapter for Chrysler

Matt from New York, NY on 5/19/2014

I installed this in a 2007 Jeep Patriot Limited. The install process was pretty simple; I'd say it would take 30 minutes for someone with no experience with these types of things. My issue with the unit is that, even with the gains turned all the way up, the volume is lower than when playing from FM or CD. The volume units go up to 40 on the receiver; when playing FM or CD I listen to it with the volume in the 15-20 range. Playing through the AUX from this unit I have the volume on 30 to be similar. More importantly, the bass is MUCH less powerful coming from the AUX. I did a test playing the same song from a CD and then from my phone through the AUX and it is a MAJOR difference. I then did the same test on my home entertainment unit to make sure it wasn't my phone that was causing the difference in bass and it was not. Unfortunately, this was the only solution to add an AUX input on my Patriot other than an aftermarket receiver which would make me loose uconnect and steering wheel controls without expensive adapters. It's fine for now but I will most likely spend the money in the future to upgrade the receiver.

Great product, easy to install and works great. Initially thought it would cause my satellite radio to not work, but since I only have satellite and not satellite + VES this just automatically added a VES option. Added an Aux input for ipod quick and easy and since it has a second set of connectors I can wire the sound from my aftermarket DVD player to it too (no more radio station interference with DVD sound thru FM)

Pros: Easy to install, inexpensive (compared to new system), automatically recognized by my REC satellite/nav/multi CD stereo

Cons: None

great item and easy to install

lindsay- 05 grand cherokee from long island NY on 1/3/2013

After being disappointed that my jeep had no place to connect my IPHONE/IPOD i bought an FM transmitter for 80 bucks which sucked. Wasen't into the idea of buying an aftermarket radio plus the pricey labor fees that come with installation... so i did some research, and found that installing the auxiliary adapter yourself is the best solution. As a female with no experience with any of this stuff, I found that the previous reviews helped me greatly. Make sure the gains are turned up, have an RCA cable wire and philips screw driver as well. Its really simple to install, and I still have use of my satellite radio. This item is compatible with my REC navigation/ 6 disk cd/ satellite radio system. Like I said, simple and good sound quality in my opinion. Def. worth it

Pros: I didnt screw up my nav/ radio system doing this, very easy to figure out

Cons: none

It works. No issues. After installing it I realized Crutchfield provided detailed instructions with tons of pictures. It would have made life a little easier if I had used the instructions but overall this was quick and simple.

Pros: I now have a car phone that works through the stereo and audio from my phone!

Cons: My car didn't with this to begin with.

GREAT ADAPTER

BA from OHIO on 8/23/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great adapter to add 2 auxiliary inputs to certain Chrysler/Dodge model radios that do not have them. Quality of product seems good and it works off of the factory VES function selection on the radio. I was glad i read reviews previous to receiving the product as they were correct in noting that you do need to turn the gain adjustments all the way up on the adapter so that volume of auxiliary input is loud enough from your phone or mp3 player. And also that you do need your own additional RCA style patch cords to give you the appropriate length to reach out from underneath dash and place where you want. Choose the style RCA cord and ends to attach to the device you are wanting to use (RCA to 3.5mm for most phones & mp3 players).

Pros: see review. Pricey but worth it to have the sound quality and type of quality hook-up/installation. And it gives you 2 inputs.

Cons: Pricey.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Went in my 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT8 w/NAV. The install went very easy even tho it came with no instructions on how to remove the radio, glad theres youtube. I think the item is over priced, but its worth the extra buck to be able to deal with crutchfield. After a little trial and error, I got it working. The company that makes this product, doesnt label the RCA connections 1 & 2, but from the looks of it, you have to have something plugged into 1 before you can use 2. Every easy fix if it was labeled. Only problem im having now is theres a faint popping sound when im listening to it on my phone...dont know if its the RCA to 3.5mm cable i bought or if its my phone, but make sure you tape over the ends so you wont get any feedback from the RCA connections on the back of the radio, also make sure you turn the gains all the way up or you probably wont get any sounds

Pros: No more radio commercials and cds that you listen to over and over again!

Cons: RCA 1 & 2 arent labeled so it may not work when you first plug it in. Make sure gains are all the way up. Other then that, none.

Easy as 1,2,3.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in my 2005 Chrysler 300.The first one I got I installed it and it didn't soy d write so I returned it hassle free with crutchfield and the new one works great. I ran the aux input through the center panel and into the center console so I don't have to reach over a passenger to change a song. Took me 10 min to do the whole install really easy and straight forward.

Pros: Very easy install, and it sounds great better than the radio for sure

Cons: Other than the first one not working nothing so far.

Love it!!!!!

This was so simple to install!! And having my entire iTunes library at my fingertips is wonderful. We turned up the gain screws all the way (as stated in another review) and have been rockin' ever since!!! Thank you Crutchfield!!!!! We will be ordering from you again.

Pros: way easier to find a song while staying focused on the road vs. cd and mixed cds

Cons: none so far

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Crutchfield Rocks! You can do this! Worked with my 2007 Chrysler 300 Touring WP Chrysler series 6-CD / SAT / NAV Product lit says no SAT with this. But after install onscreen display shows this product as a third tab labeled VES, next to CD and SAT. The VES tab provides two channel options (1,2), corresponding to the product's two pairs of RCA inputs, selectable by the tuning buttons. Prep: Turn gain screws up (Thanks BillG!); snip plastic tie wrap; vinyl electrical tape on unused female RCA ends, exposed 12v harness wire, product box, gain screw holes (prevent dust); only need '+' screwdriver for this car's install. Fingers snap out dash trim. Fingers unplug trim wiring harnesses. Four screws free the radio (mark frame screw holes). Very tight wiring-stereo pivots onto ashtray. Use book to support (towel to prevent scratching). Fingers unplug stereo, install product between car plugs and stereo (round peg/round hole complexity level). Pass the patch cable through dash frame side into glovebox, down, out along PASSENGER center trim and tuck along center console until even with front passenger seat (no wiring by driver's feet, please). Sounds great! Could it be louder? Meh. iPhone @75% and car vol @80% is more than enough sound. WAYYY better than an FM transmitter: better volume, better sound quality (can distinguish different bitrates now). LOVE Crutchfield documentation and all-inclusive parts!

2005 Jeep Cherokee 6 cd changer I have been searching for a product that would play my ipod touch in my car, not like those bad fm transmitters and I found one. This was a great product. I was a bit nervous on how it would go in but it only took about 15 minutes, you dont even need the directions. The sound quality is great also. Just make sure you get an rca cable to connect your ipod or mp3 player. I got one and wired it to my glovebox. You wont be dissapointed!

2006 Dodge Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Poduct went in with ease per the instructions. Sound quality is good. Although I do not feel it is quite as good as having an aftermarket receiver with built in AUX port. But for the much higher expense of putting in an aftermarket receiver into a Dodge Ram, I feel it is worth the money. When I received the adapter, I did notice the adjustable gain screws but did not see anything in the instrcutions about them. So I felt that they were factory set. After installing everything, when I tried it out, I had to max the volume on my MP3 player as well as the truck radio had to be almost maxed out. I thought that this was strange so I emailed the manufacturer and was told to adjust those gain screws to increase the volume output of the devise. I wish the instructions would have indicated that, now I have to rip everything apart to make the adjustments.

hoyafan from Los Angeles, CA on 11/8/2008

This product works great with my setup. 2006 Commander 6 disc radio Sirius Satellite Navigation After removing the dash board (remove the silver hex screws, and the entire front dash will come off, thats all), and the radio, I connected all the connectors as the instructions said except the small brown one(VES I believe). I got a new screen on my radio named VES. That where you will be able to listen to the ipod(mp3). you get two inputs with this adapter, so you can connect two different things via RCA females. You can then switch between them via the radio or the steering wheel controls. I then ran a 1meter RCA to 3.5mm cable (you will need this, so dont forget to add it to your order) thru the back of the radio and into the glove compartment where I keep my IPOD. I also purchased seperately the DLO remote control adapter for my ipod to do all my controlling while the ipod is in the glove compartment. Dont forget to turn your ipod off when not using it. If all you are looking to do is add an IPOD or MP3 adapter, then this works great. I was worried that using an adapter that goes thru the headphone jack would not sound as good as a direct connected cable, but the sound is pretty good. Highly recommended.

Features

Overview: The PAC AAi-CHY Audio Input Interface allows direct input of any preamp level audio source to select Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep factory radios. The AAi-CHY interface features two stereo RCA inputs so you can input sources such as DVD, VCP, MP3 satellite or video games. The factory radio allows you to switch between inputs.

Note: This interface only supports audio playback of your external portable device. The interface does not allow for any control of the auxiliary sources you have connected.

Compatibility: The AAi-CHY Auxiliary Audio Input Interface supports select 2005 and up Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep factory radios. The AAi-CHY is compatible with the following factory radio models - REC, REF, RAQ and RAK. The Audio Input Interface works with or without factory installed satellite radio by emulating factory VES (Video Entertainment System). If your vehicle has both factory satellite radio and VES (Video Entertainment System) one of them must be disconnected at the device. This interface will emulate the device that is disconnected. If your factory radio has a single disc CD and satellite radio (REF model), the factory satellite receiver must be disconnected.

Installation: The factory radio must be removed and the AAi-CHY interface plugs into the back of the factory radio. The AAi-CHY plugs into either the satellite radio or VES input, depending on which one is not in use or which one you want to disconnect. The interface features two pairs of stereo RCA inputs for connecting your external portable audio sources.

Level Control: The AAi-CHY is equipped with gain controls on top of the interface to allow you to adjust the audio level of your sources connected to the factory radio to match the output level of your vehicle's factory sources.

Why did you buy this?

I chose this product because my 05 magnum doesn't have an aux input and while researching for a solution on this product was the best fit. [ Sergio  May 07, 2016 ]
I wasn't looking to replace the radio in my Chrysler 300, but I wanted auxiliary input jacks to plug in external devices. This was an extremely simple way to accomplish what I was looking for. Simply slide the radio forward, plug this unit in, and run the RCA jacks to the glove box or wherever. [ Jason  Mar 08, 2016 ]
My daughter wanted to keep her original (factory) stereo system in her Jeep but needed to play music from her iphone. This adapter solved that issue. [ KEVIN L  Mar 03, 2016 ]
My factory radio does not have an aux input because in 2005 the iPhone did not exist so there was no need to have one. This will enable me to play music from my phone through the car's stereo [ Ian  Feb 05, 2016 ]
Replaced factory stereo twin stolen both times. Keeping original and adding this to listen to Ipod [ JEFF  Jan 07, 2016 ]
Wanted to install an aux input in my car cheaply, and without interfering with the steering controls. Installing an aftermarket deck would've been too expensive with the interface for the steering controls. [ Chris  Dec 22, 2015 ]
