Worked like a Ford factory part, perfect!
Product works as advertised with no problems whatever. It installed easily, the hardest part was finding +12 constant for the iPhone charge power. That was easily found and 10 minutes later I was using my IPhone Adaptor with my factory stereo.
Pros: Ease of installation
Cons: none that I can see.
Used in 2000 F350 crew cab diesel with factory stereo. It worked beautifully. If you have the factory cd changer, this will NOT work unless you use this in place of the cd changer. The only thing you have to do (in addition to plugging the harness in) is connect the hot wire to a constant 12v source, and connect the ground wire to a ground source. I spliced these wires into the factory wire harness. Strip a small section of the Ford harness insulation away, poke an awl in the center of the wire making a hole, and insert the end of this harnesses wire into the hole, wrapping it around the factory wire. Solder wires together and cover well with electrical tape. Yes, the quick easy way is to use a wire tap, but those corrode over time and aren't as solid of a connection. Here are the wires from the Ford factory harness to tap into: Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Light Green/Violet Car Radio Ground Wire: Black/Light Green
Very handy item. Easy installation except for the power and ground, which weren't difficult, just slightly inconvenient. I'd like to see splices sent with each adapter. I'd pay the little extra. The splices I want are the kind that have a press in blade with grooves that penetrates the insulation but doesn't require cutting the wires. You cover the blade with an attached plastic snap-down flap to insulate it. No stripping or cutting necessary.
Overview: The PXHFD3 harness integrates the iSimple PXDP iPod interface module (541PXDP, sold separately) or PXDX Aux Input interface module (541PXDX, sold separately) with the factory radio in select Ford, Mercury, and Jaquar vehicles. The PXHFD3 plugs into the CD changer port on the back of the factory radio or into the existing CD changer cable (varies by vehicle). Please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to see if your vehicle and factory radio are compatible.
Note: In addition to the harness that connects to the factory plug, this adapter requires splicing wires for constant 12 volts and ground.
