PAC's RP4-CH11 wiring interface lets you replace the factory radio in select 2004-up Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen vehicles. You'll retain your factory steering wheel audio controls, your vehicle's entertainment system, and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.

Another plus — the RP4-CH11 interface eliminates the need for the secondary steering wheel control interface (SWI-CAN or SWI-CAN2) that's usually required for these Chrysler-built vehicles, saving you some more cash. Warranty: 1 year.

Important Note: If you have a factory amp in your vehicle, you'll lose the ability to fade from front to rear when you install a new car stereo. (See Details.) See Details for a list of compatible car stereos.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Overview: The RadioPro4 (RP4-CH11) is a radio replacement and SWC (steering wheel control) interface that comes pre-loaded with amplifier retention and SWC software, navigation based output signals, and firmware that retains all of the vehicle's original safety and convenience features when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit.

Functionality: The RP4-CH11 interface allows the replacement of a factory radio in select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with MSCAN or LSFT-CAN databus radios. Using this interface will retain factory features such as steering wheel controls (SWC), vehicle entertainment system (VES), and the factory audio amplifier whenever the original radio is removed. The RP4-CH11 also provides data bus driven outputs such as retained accessory power (RAP), vehicle speed sensor (VSS), illumination, reverse trigger, and parking brake.

Note: Does not retain uConnect.

Vehicle Compatibility: The RadioPro4 (RP4-CH11) is compatible with select 2004-up Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen vehicles with the CAN-bus system. Compatible vehicles as of 7/13/2012 include:

Amplified & Non-Amplified Factory System Compatible: The RadioPro4 (RP4-CH11) is compatible with both amplified and non-amplified factory systems.

  • Vehicles without a factory amplifier: Connect the aftermarket radio's front & rear speaker wires to the vehicle connector.
  • Vehicles with a factory amplifier: The factory amplifier only accepts two channels of audio input (left/right). Connect the front outputs of the aftermarket radio to the rear inputs of the vehicle connector. This will allow navigation voice prompts and Bluetooth calls to be heard. The rear speaker outputs of the aftermarket radio are not used. Fading is not supported in this application. The factory amplifier's fading is controlled by data communication from the factory radio. Neither the aftermarket radio or the interface have the ability to control the amplifier's fader.

Wiring Connection Chart: Only one of the two provided radio harnesses will be used.

Works Perfect

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed on my 2014 Grand Caravan and it worked just as it should have. Kept my steering wheel controls and they work just as they did on the factory radio. No programming required

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: Not really a con - but I had to determine which harness to use with my vehicle (it came with 2) this is actually a "Pro"

the only thing that works for 2005 Durango

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased a new Kenwood unit for my wife's Durango, was offered an adapter made by IDatalink. That worked when it wanted to. We had to toggle the key twice to get the amp to turn on- everytime the car was shut off. Apparently the manufacturer was having firmware problems with older Chysler cars with infinity systems and they sent me a few "beta firmware " to try. None worked unfortunately for this application and they probably have a great product, just not for my car. Finally called Crutchfield and was going to buy something different. They offered a flat out replacement to this PAC unit. Unit was also an snap to install and wire. Bingo!! Start the car and my wife has her music. Can't ask for more!! Outstanding customer service by Crutchfield !! I will buy again from them.

Pros: perfect for a 2005 Dodge Durango. keeps steering wheel controls, amps start normally, easy to install

Just what i wanted, my steering wheel controls worked perfectly at first power-up. Couldn't be happier with the install and that my controls worked as prescribed. Crutchfield strikes again - perfect product and integration. So easy and just great experience. I called tech support 3 separate times for a couple quick questions - I received the help needed to make the installation easy and seamless!!

Pros: It worked as prescribed...

Cons: none

Good piece but make sure radio has a 3.5 mm plug for steering wheel controls to function properly

Pros: Plugged right up. Made wiring quick easy and straight forward.

Product manual not great but fairly easy to figure out after looking at it for a few minutes. Worked perfectly after installation. Fader controls did work in my application even though th manual said that it would not.

Cons: Manual not very clear on programming

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This item works as designed. I wanted a basic item which would retain my steering wheel controls, and other basic functions. It works great out of the box, and doesn't require any programming. I'm not utilizing any of the speaker outputs, nor factory amp turn-on -- as I bypassed my factory amp. For what I needed, this item works great.

Pros: Retained steering wheel controls out-of-the-box.

Cons: None

Works fine. The instructions need to be better

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product interfaces with the vehicle remote but the instructions need to be clearer. It seemed so illogical to hook both from and the rear onto the same channel but after Crutchfield's right on advice...all is good

Pros: It works. Call Crutchfield for help. Top notch

Cons: A few more words are needed in the instructions. Weak. Without Crutchfield's service, getting hooked up would have been a bit more trying.

Excellent Product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This interface works great in my 2005 jeep grand cherokee limited. It has the the boston acoustics sound system with factory amplifier and everything works like it should (including steering wheel controls) with my aftermarket double-din JVC receiver. Wires are all color coded to match aftermarket receiver making it very easy to match up wires. Once the interface was wired up and the vehicle was powered on, it only took a few seconds for the receiver to power on. At first i thought this was a little pricey but i am very satisfied with it. Only thing i can say that could be negative is that you will need a decent size dash cavity to fit everything back in behind the receiver due to all the extra wires.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ok this harness was easy to plug in and splice with other wires. My complaint is that I was deceived to purchasevthis without being told that my receiver was steering wheel control incompatible. After numerous calls with customer service, I was finally explained this and was dissatisfied. Customer service did not offer any remedy.

Crutchfield response on Monday, August 18, 2014 The PAC RP4-CH11 is required to make a vehicle's steering wheel controls work with a new receiver. Unfortunately, the customer initially purchased a receiver that was not compatible with steering wheel controls. After talking with our customer service team, they were able to help him select a different receiver that does work with his steering wheel controls, in which case this adapter is needed.

It works!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well the unit does what it says. Easy to hook up, the only thing I realized was that a 4 pin wire adapter for data control was missing. I called Crutchfield and they were very supportive and sent me a new one right away. One I got it, it was a quick install and works fine. The only thing it doesn't do is display the radio station in my Chrysler 300C where my trip meter is.

Cons: No display for radio station where my tac and speedometer is

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this adapter with a Kenwood head unit so that I could keep my steering wheel controls. First let me say that the installation instructions were horrible. Second, after numerous calls to get it connected, it does not work very often. I took it out, put the old radio in and everything works fine. Re-installed the new unit and this adapter and same issues. It doesn not work every time. It was a total waste of money.

Pros: None.

Cons: Does not work very often. Waste of money.

Very easy to install Small size is nice in tight areas

Works well enough, could be easier to customize

Written By Phil, Louisville, KY on Thursday, June 12, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Setting this up is fairly easy, if you want the defaults, and if your car has the right harness/factory radio setup.

However, if you have the Boston Acoustics factory amplifier, but it has the "normal" harness (like my 2007 Jeep Patriot), you have to wire the head-end unit's from speakers to the cars rear speakers, and you only get 2 channels of audio. It would be nice if the RP4-CH11 provided full amp control, which the factory radio is able to do.

Beyond that, the ability to customize steering wheel controls is nice, but way harder than it needs to be. The documentation is vague, the timeout is extremely short (7 seconds!), and it's confusing as to what some of the commands do.

However, I like that I at least *can* customize the controls, so at least that's something.

Pros: - Does the job - Can be customized

Cons: - Instructions are vague on programming - Programming timeout is too short - Does not control factory amp - Does not harness correctly to BA factory amp

Wonderful product. Easy to install. No programming to do, just set the swc switch to radio brand and it works. Spent 160 dollars on similar kit that wouldn't work with my infinity system, but this one is simply plug n play and half the price when purchased with my JVC deck!!

Pros: Easy to install and set up

Cons: Couple of undefined wires in harness, but crutchfield cleared that up for me in about 10 seconds.

Seems to work perfectly. Sort of intimidating at first since not all of the wires were used between this, the radio, and my car. However, I called tech support and they were able to tell me which connections would not be used, so I felt better about having "leftovers". Used with the Posi-Products Connector Kit, which made connecting the wires really easy.

Pros: Works with my steering wheel controls.

Cons: Instructions were a little vague.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First one was DOA, 2nd works fine

Pros: Fairly easy install, provides all the features you need

Cons: First one was dead, and about 50% of the time when I start the vehicle I get a decent volume pop sound. This is caused by the radio turning on before the PAC fully initializing. So the radio is putting out a signal, and THEN your speakers kick in once the PAC begins working...kind of annoying, but it's not too bad.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Once finally installed the features are working but getting to that point was not easy. The limited instructions just don't provide enough information to allow for easy assembly and installation. i finally made it thought by carefully tracing every circuit on a wiring diagram

Pros: Adds wanted features like steering wheel control to the radio. Outstanding technical support when needed. Courteous and patient.

Cons: Complicated assembly of the wiring harness. Better instructions would help.

One of my biggest regrets of my life was buying the PAC rp4-ch11. Nothing but issues and my radio controls still don't work on my steering wheel. Shorts, blown fuses, returns, ect and it cost this much. Find something else to spend your money on, anything else.

Pros: None

Cons: Takes up a lot of space, when the fuse blows it's have to radio out to change it, first one ordered developed a short in the power wire, very expensive, never worked correctly

Quite handy with a multi function deck

Pros: It allows me to keep the functions as they were with my stock deck. I'm glad I spent the little extra for the adapter. I would have been driving with my eyes off the road looking at the deck.

Cons: The instructions were a bit vague, Once I saw to match the wiring colors I was set. The vagueness is the only thing that I would improve on.

Pros: Match colors to instructions. Easy stuff!

Cons: None

Written By Matt G, Loveland, CO on Monday, February 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After just a little decoding/deciphering of the included wiring map, I got everything connected as good as I could gather, and when I hooked up the deck (Kenwood) in the Jeep, I wasn't getting a signal to "turn on" the deck when the ignition was on. After a quick call to Crutchfield, it was determined that I had guessed wrong on the ignition connection, since the Kenwood instructions didn't exactly match the PAC wiring diagram. No big deal, corrected the connection, and now my steering wheel controls work just as before.

Pros: Allows retention of steering wheel controls as well as factory stereo connector, so I can easily reinstall the factory unit if I trade/sell the vehicle,

Cons: Wiring diagram requires a little more experience than this novice had, but Crutchfield can help you figure it out.

Fader still worked in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler with a slight work around

Written By Akaricke, Tampa, Fl on Thursday, January 30, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Worked for me, BUT I had to do some trouble shooting. I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. When I first installed this adapter for my new Pioneer stereo the fader and balance was going to the wrong speakers. I called PAC and they asked me if I had the factory amplifier. I told them I was not sure and he suggested to run a tone to each speaker from the factory wiring harness. I went old school and grabbed a 9v battery and scratched the PAC harness wires to each of the corresponding speakers on the factory wiring harness. Front right, Front Left, Rear Left, Rear Right. I got a response from all but the FRONT RIGHT. He said that meant I have the factory amplifier. He then told me to take the FRONT speaker leads from my new stereo and connect them to REAR leads of the PAC harness. I would LOSE speaker fader(front to rear) of my new Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS. After hanging up with PAC I started thinking and simply connected the Pioneer front left, rear left, and rear right, leads to the corresponding PAC harness front left, rear left, and rear right. Do NOT connect the PAC front RIGHT wires. Run a speaker wire from the FRONT RIGHT of your new stereo directly to the RIGHT FRONT speaker. It was a simple fix and I have full fader front to rear and balance right to left control of my stereo.

Had to buy this harness to install a new JVC headunit in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. Installation was straightforward except one thing I wasnt sure of. After a call to Crutchfield everything was fine. Tech support is excellent! All functions including steering wheel controls work as they should.

Pros: Easy to understand instructions, works flawlessly.

Cons: Price. Way to expensive for what it is. But you get it half price when you order a headunit at the same time.

This unit comes with 2 factory wire looms(you only use the one that mates up to your factory harness) and its pretty much plug and play with new Pioneer unit, did not have to splice any wires from factory harness only had to splice wires together from new unit(Pioneer) to module color coded pig tails, set module to 7 for Pioneer and away we go without the need for any programing. Works perfectly!

Pros: Did not have to cut factory harness, no need for programing, works right out of box!

Cons: Hmmm can't see any so far!

The PAC worked great in my 2012 Dodge avenger, was just like splicing in any normal harness. Instructions were pretty easy to follow and had no problems after install, i was able to keep my steering wheel controls which is a big plus and i did not have to visit a dealer at all to reset any codes. Highly recommend using this product

Pros: keeps steering wheel controls, didnt have to visit dealer to reset codes

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This little gem does exactly what it says it will -- I didn't even have to program it. Just match up the head unit harness wires to the wires on this unit and bamm, it's done. Plug and play. It automatically detected my car and controls and made installing a full unit about a 20 minute job.

Pros: Ease of use

Cons: Expensive but necessary -- still a great value when purchased from Crutchfield. Super expensive elsewhere.

Its a little slow in response time. Not too bad though. You lose some functions of the steering wheel.

Pros: Does what it says.

Cons: Installation can be tricky. Loss of some functions. Lag between pushing button and radio reaction.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This item worked as advertised, allowing me to retain the steering wheel controls in my 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. The instructions were uneccesarily vague, so took a few readings to really understand that I didn't need to program anything. Once I determined that it was simply pick the right harness and start splicing wires. It is a bit bigger than I had hoped for, about the size of a component set crossover, but was still able to fit behind the headunit in the dash cavity. It did force me to install the Alpine power pack behind the glovebox, though, as there was definitely no longer enough room behind the deck. Take your time and you will be fine.

Pros: Allows retention of steering wheel controls without any complex programming.

Cons: Instructions not well designed, unit is a bit bigger than I expected.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit does exactly what it says, and is worth the price to be able to keep your steering wheel controls. (Though I'd like to see some cheaper competitors in this space - microcontrollers to do this kind of thing aren't expensive) However, this unit came to me with older firmware that doesn't allow programming of short keypress and long keypress commands. And unfortunately, upgrading the firmware requires special hardware. I plan on contacting Crutchfield to see if they can help me, but the fact that this is needed is just ridiculous. They could easily put a microUSB port on this thing and provide firmware updating software that could be run from a PC. The requirement for special hardware is a completely unnecessary pain. If nothing else, PAC should ship these with the latest firmware, so customers don't have to deal with this.

Pros: Works as intended

Cons: Firmware updates require special hardware

Works perfectly!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was shocked how easy this made installing a new stereo in my Jeep wrangler JK. No need to cut or splice any factory wires, just match the wires to the ones on the aftermarket stereo (match the colors except for the ones not needed) and then it's basically plug and play. Was able to retain my steering wheel controls no problem. Couldn't be happier!

Pros: Ease of install

Cons: Nothing

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works as advertised, but instructions are a bit confusing at first. Finally figured it out on my own and got it wired up correctly with zero glitches. A bit pricey to buy for just the volume controls on the steering wheel...

Pros: Works well once wired in. No problems with it so far (only installed for 24 hours).

Cons: Instructions lack some detail that could've been more helpful (ie: better diagrams and better descriptions of what wire goes to what (one actually labeled red power wire as an accessory wire rated at 1A supply))

Works perfectly

Not bad, just make sure you ask about bluetooth calls

Written By rob897, Buffalo, NY on Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wiring diagram was easy to follow. I hooked everything up correctly. As it states it disables fading from front to rear. So if you plan on using the bluetooth to make calls, contact tech support to see if you need to wire the front speakers to the back speakers and vice versa as someone else mentioned in the reviews. Once you do that it works great!!

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: Should be INSTRUCTIONS for people using Bluetooth to make calls that you may need to wire the speakers differently

Cons: Manufacturer, not Crutchfield, should have had better QC with this product.

I had trouble with this when I got everything hooked up. Called Crutchfield support and after several attempts we decided the PAC unit might be bad. Support quickly arranged for another to be sent. While removing the installed one I noticed there was a pin bent on my factory side wiring harness. Straightened it out and it worked perfectly. Thanks to Crutchfield support for the help even though I had a vehicle issue. Now resolved this works as intended.

Pros: Works period.

Works great with my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Boston Acoustics Sound System & Pioneer DEH-X8500BH. Took about 10 minutes to wire up. Make sure if you have a factory amplifier to follw the instuctions & wire the rear speakers to the front & vise vursa otherwise you will not hear anything when making phone calls.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used the PAC RP4-CH1 Interface with my Pioneer AVH-X1500 in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Connecting the wires was straightforward and I've never done any type of audio install or wiring before. My factory steering wheel buttons all work as they should. I did not need to program this Interface, I simply had to turn the little dial to a certain number according to the brand of receiver. The interface itself is small and there is no problem with fitment behind my receiver.

Pros: Simplicity of installation, Performs as it should

Cons: Sometimes if I quickly hit the volume up/down button on my steering wheel multiple times my receiver will recognize all but one sometimes two levels of volume change. Not sure if this is because of my receiver or because of this interface
