Installation Note: Some newer vehicles require a special interface for this installation. Click here to see if you need an interface to install the SWI-RC adapter in your vehicle. If you see one, add it to your cart along with this adapter.

You want to install an aftermarket stereo in your vehicle, but you hate to give up the convenience of your factory steering wheel radio controls? No problem. PAC's SWI-RC adapter allows you to use the steering wheel audio controls in a wide variety of vehicles to command select radios from Alpine, Clarion, Dual, Jensen, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Sony.

Installation is straightforward — connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and your stereo, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. The direct connection to the stereo eliminates the need for an infrared emitter, allowing the interface to function even in bright sunlight. Step-by-step LED confirmation makes programming easy. Once connected, the SWI-RC's failsafe memory will learn up to 12 stereo functions, retaining them even if battery power is interrupted. Dimensions: 2"W x 7/8"H x 2-7/8"D. Warranty: 1 year.

Important Note: On some vehicles, you may need a voltmeter to locate the correct wires to connect to the SWI-RC. If you have no car audio installation experience, you should consider professional installation. The SWI-RC works with most Alpine, Clarion, Dual, Jensen, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Sony stereos that have a wired remote control input port or a dedicated steering wheel input, but please call or email us to confirm compatibility with your radio.

Wiring Advisory: You'll usually have to tap into one to three wires in your vehicle at the radio location to connect this interface. If you're using a PAC OEM integration adapter to connect your new car stereo to your vehicle, then it most likely will have a prewired connector for this PAC steering wheel audio control adapter. In these cases, no additional wiring in required. PAC does provide custom wiring instructions for all confirmed compatible vehicles on their website.

What does a steering wheel audio control adapter do?

Many people aren't thrilled with the sound of their car's factory radio, but don't want to replace it because they'll lose those convenient audio controls on the steering wheel. For most vehicles, you can purchase an adapter that allows you to use those controls to run a new car stereo, so now you can have great sound and convenience too. Even cooler, if your new stereo has iPod controls, you can use your steering wheel controls to run your iPod.

Overview: The PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Interface lets you retain steering wheel control functions when replacing the factory radio in select vehicles with an aftermarket head unit that is OEM steering wheel control compatible.

Wiring Advisory: You'll usually have to hardwire this adapter into your vehicle's wiring. In most vehicles, the factory radio plug does not have a wire dedicated to the steering wheel audio controls, so splicing & soldering is often required. PAC does provide custom wiring instructions for all confirmed compatible vehicles on their website.

Compatible Aftermarket Head Units: The PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Interface is compatible with the following steering wheel remote ready aftermarket head units.

  • Alpine, Clarion, Dual, Jensen Pioneer, Sony, and Valor: The aftermarket head unit must be equipped with a 3.5mm steering wheel input jack.
  • JVC & Kenwood: The aftermarket head unit must be equipped with a blue/yellow steering wheel input wire. (Not compatible with Kenwood KDC-BT318U, KDC-BT558U, KDC-BT758HD, KDC-X598, KDC-X798, or KMR-D558BT.)

Note: Not compatible with Rosen, CarShow, or Parrot receivers.

Compatibility Notes:

  • The Clarion CZ500 does not support remote Bluetooth controls.
  • The JVC KW-NT1 and KW-NT3HDT do not support preset up/down from steering wheel controls.
  • The Pioneer AVIC-F series radios do not interpret radio preset seeking commands. This is a limitation of the radio, not the SWI-RC.
  • Pioneer head units with Bluetooth feature, the steering wheel controls will not adjust the phone call volume. The phone call volume must be adjusted on the face of the Pioneer head unit. This is a limitation of the radio and not the SWI-RC.
  • Only the Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT, Z120, Z130, and AVIC-X920BT, X930BT will support the voice recognition function via wired remote input.

Resistor Kit: Some vehicles have a separate wire for each of the steering wheel buttons. Use the resistor kit for steering wheel push buttons that do not already have a resistor network connected to them. The resistor kit includes the following resistors:

  • 47 Ohms (yellow, purple, black, and gold bands)
  • 100 Ohms (brown, black, brown, and gold bands)
  • 150 Ohms (brown, green, brown, and gold bands)
  • 560 Ohms (green, blue, brown, and gold bands)
  • 1000 Ohms (brown, black, red, and gold bands)
  • 1500 Ohms (brown, green, red, and gold bands)
  • 3900 Ohms (orange, white, red, and gold bands)
  • 5100 Ohms (green, brown, red, and gold bands)

0.47uF Capacitor: In the rare case where your vehicle's steering wheel buttons are intermittent or the aftermarket radio sometimes functions by itself, the enclosed 0.47uF capacitor can be installed to solve this issue. The 0.47uF capacitor can be connected between the SWI-RC interface's white and black wires. Connect the lead of the supplied capacitor to the SWI-RC's white wire and the remaining lead to ground.

Works as said

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It works as it should. Installation was fairly straightforward and programming was a simple process.

Pros: Steering wheel controls retained

Cons: Cost a bit much for what it does.

be patient!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

works great once all said and done. directions are confusing and need to be updated by manufacturer. they said i had to add resistors to the wiring -- but the resistors are already wired in and covered by shrink tubing straight out of the box. programming directions leave a little clarification out, but you can figure out along the way.

Pros: works great

Cons: confusing directions

Good Product, Poor Instructions PAC-SWI-RC

Written By Anonymous, Maryland on Wednesday, April 08, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product works good but does not have all the same functions that my factory 2007 Mazda 3 steering wheel control have. You can program the up and down arrows to control tracks on CD's/USB or change radio stations but not both. There is an ever so slight delay between pressing the controls on the steering wheel and getting a response on the head unit.

The instructions contradict themselves, one sentence would say "black wires" then the next would say "black wire," for making the connections, confusing to say the least. Once again the tech support from Crutchfield saved the day and knew exactly what I was talking about and offered seamless instruction.

Pros: decent steering wheel controls over head unit functions

Cons: instructions were not clear

PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control

Written By Frederick, West Virginia on Monday, April 06, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As far as function goes it works as described but the installation and programming of the device was a little lacking in explanation. It tells you what wires to connect up for the particular application but it doesn't tell you what to do with the unused wires. i decided to cut them off and tape the ends to save space and get them out of the way.

Pros: Lets you use the factory steering wheel controls with a new head unit.

Cons: could use more detailed installation instructions and explain that there is unused wires and what to do with them.

Neat product, difficult instructions

Written By nothanks, The Moon on Sunday, April 05, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This device works quite nicely once it is setup. Unfortunately, the directions are a bit cryptic and it can prove to be a bit challenging. Call tech support sooner rather than later - they were quite helpful. Be sure to have your volt meter handy.

Pros: You can map the steering wheel button to basically whatever you want on the stereo. This proves GREAT for creating your own "answer" button for bluetooth equipped radios in older cars. I would buy it for my next install now that I am familiar with the setup.

Cons: The instructions had absolutely NO idea what they were talking about even though my 2004 Chrysler Sebring convertible is reportedly supported. The wiring info and diagrams provided were complete rubbish. (give tech support an A+ on helping figure it out) Device not able to attention the "call" button for voice command on headunits that integrate with Siri. That was disappointing - if they correct this problem, the aftermarket stereo installations will be much nicer

confusing documentation

Written By T, Arizona on Thursday, April 02, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The instructions are very confusing. they do not specify what cable connector they are refering to. took some guess work and lots of google to get it hooked up. It did not work after I hooked it up and I attempted to contact the manufacturer several times. They never replied. Called Crutchfield and they helped me get it working in 5 minutes. FYI, the instructions are not clear but to get it to work you need to go thru the manual programming after you program it for the radio you have.

Pros: Works as advertised. Crutchfield customer support saved the day.

Cons: Horrible documentation, no customer support from PAC.

Works great - just as advertised!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This item works perfectly in my Nissan Altima with a Pioneer radio I purchased from Crutchfield. It takes a little extra effort to install - tapping into factory radio wiring harness and carefully programming the correct functions into the radio. In my case, I had to "skip" programming the Preset +/- functions to match the factory radio control behavior with my new Pioneer. Instead I only programmed the Track Up/Down functions and - strangely enough - that allows me to navigate radio presets AND track up/down with CDs, USB-attached iPod, Pandora via Bluetooth, etc. Couldn't be happier after I figured that out!

Pros: Exhaustive & thorough documentation available from Crutchfield & PAC's web site - details available for your specific make/model/year. Small enough to tuck away in the dash when installing the radio. Unit preserves programmed settings even if battery power is cut - hopefully that means this means its safe to hide this out-of-reach in the dash once it's successfully programmed

Cons: You need to review several sets of documents & double-check instructions carefully to determine which wires are used and where they are connected before installation. Programming is tedious and time sensitive - if you pause too long unit "times out" and you need to reprogram the unit from scratch.

Works as advertised

Written By David T., Kentucky on Tuesday, March 31, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

works as advertised-be sure to have a clear mind when programming as instructions can be confusing

Pros: once it's configured-all my steering wheel control funtions work as before w/ factory sound system-my head-unit has Ipod input and you can use your scan-seek to go up or down on playlist-depending on wheel functions, you can tailor your controls for other funtions of head-unit

Cons: really tricky to get it set up-instructions are a little confusing but patience and a little trail and error will get you there. Don't complete head-unit and adapter unit install until you have it dialed in. Would give 5 stars if it wasn't so tricky to dial in.

Bose System Beware.. No fade control

Written By Houston54, Texas on Sunday, March 15, 2015

This unit was recommended by a Crutchfield tech for my application but I did not read the fine print. This product does Not retain fade control so you will not be able to shift sound bias to rear speakers which in a SUV is critical. This may be limited to Bose systems but likely not. Better products available to do this function.

Pros: None

Cons: No fade control once installed

Works very well

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not the easiest of installs, but not terrible either. Make sure you read the instructions carefully. Others have said that the instructions are terrible, however I found them to be adequate as long as you made sure to follow everything closely. Wiring it is the more difficult part; I found programming it to be pretty simple. It works very well paired up with my Pioneer AVH-170 DVD receiver. I think it's a good value for the price. 4 stars instead of 5 because the instructions could be laid out better for someone who has less experience installing car audio equipment.

Pros: Works well. All steering wheel functions work flawlessly with my new head unit. Easy to program. Pretty easy to wire.

Cons: Instructions could be more clear.

Frustrating to Install

Difficult to follow instructions. Manufacture would not help me on the weekend unless I was a dealer. Called Crutchfield and they did help me. Got it installed and programmed, but it was very frustrating.

Cons: Difficult install due to poorly written instructions.

Frustrating install, but works as advertised

Written By Will, Bay Area, CA on Thursday, February 05, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Read all the instructions before starting: Select your stereo brand using the little numbered dial on the side, then wire it according the installation note sheet. I installed in a 2001 Infiniti QX4 (Same as Nissan Pathfinder LE) with the factory Bose speakers, using a JVC KD-AR959BS head unit. Using this head unit you set the SWI-RC selector to "2". The notes for this car say to wire resistors (<2K ohm) inline from the factory steering wheel controls into the white wire. The resistor values are in the instructions, so read carefully. Things to avoid: It says to wire everything to the white wire, but I saw the white/red and the white/black were connected to the white wire so I wired some controls to those wires. DO NOT DO THIS, the white/red and white/black already have resistors wired inline and the result will be that some of your buttons will have similar resistance values and now your volume up key and track down key will both only make the volume go up. Avoid this by connecting only to the white wire. It says to use resistors <2K ohm, but it kept confusing the control I had wired with the 47ohm with the control wired to the 100ohm. I swapped out the 47ohm with a 3900ohm resistor and everything worked. It says to solder the connections, but when testing just tape the connections and solder afterwards. I had to undo lots of solder connections since the instructions were wrong and I made a couple mistakes.

It finally works now as advertised after 4 hours!

Pros: Works as intended with little delay between button press and response. Easy to program once installed.

Cons: Instructions not entirely accurate or clear for my install. Have to solder connections to factory harness. Similar resistor values should be avoided since the system cannot differentiate and treats them as the same button.

Steering Wheel Control 2004 Jeep G Cherokee

Written By Larry C, Woodland Park, Co on Tuesday, February 03, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Once installed the unit works perfectly, I only gave it 4 stars as the instructions were a little fuzzy to me, but quickly cleared up by a call to Crutchfield. The biggest installation hassle was getting the control wire from the steering wheel to the CD compartment, but that would be vehicle dependent.

Pros: Works perfectly once installed.

Cons: Takes up a bit of space behind the CD Player, so combined with the aftermarket harness for the CD player it takes a bit of juggling to the CD re-installed.

I have no complaints. It does it's job.

Pros: Straight forward installation.

Cons: Possibly more advanced installation than one might typically encounter, but no matter how difficult you may think the job will be. The folks at Crutchfield are always willing to hold your hand through the process if needed today and down the road. You just don't get that service anywhere else.

Steering wheel control adapter

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had to read the directions and play with the setup for a couple of minutes before I could wrap my head around what the instructions where describing. But after that it seemed fairly simple. I wasn't able to push the program button with my fat fingers; I had to use a pen. All of the steering wheel controls work great.

Pros: Product works as intended. Wiring was simple.

It Works, But Tricky Install

Written By IsaacL, New York City on Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered the PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Adapter to install along with the Kenwood DDX371 in a 2008 Toyota Sienna. Connecting all the wires were simple enough once you figured out what the directions were actually saying. Once all the wires were connected properly, programming the adapter took about 3 tries because the directions can be a bit confusing. After programming the 3rd time, it didn't work, so I thought it wasn't compatible. I turned OFF the DVD receiver thinking about taking out the steering wheel control adapter for a few minutes, but then I turned it back ON and the steering wheel controls proceeded to work. I've now had it installed for about 4 months now and it is still going strong. There are only 5 buttons on the Sienna's stereo steering wheel control (VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, BACK, FORWARD & SOURCE) and they all work as programmed. The installation and programming instructions are key to making this work and it might take some careful considerations of those instructions to get it to work and it has worked for me.

Pros: works as advertised, small footprint, long wires

Cons: not so straight forward instructions (but now that I think about it, it is as straight forward as they can get)

Installed on 2001 BMW 525i - Don't bother with the instructions that came with the package. Go on line and get the specific instruction for your vehicle. Everything is working fine so far.

Pros: You can program your steering wheel controls to your specific function

Cons: Installation instructions are very poorly written. It took me 5 tries to have it programed correctly. Timing is essential during programming - Something the instruction failed to mention.

Upon unpacking the PAC-SWI-RC, I was a bit intimidated, but the website has videos that walk you through installation and programming. I suggest going to this website and at least printing out and reading through the instructions for your specific vehicle prior to installing.

The product works fantastic and seamlessly fused my Ford Explorer and Kenwood DDX492 together.

Pros: Great product to integrate the safety of steering wheel controls in aftermarket stereos.

Cons: Instructions can seem daunting at first. Go to the website and print them out for your specific vehicle.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

PAC SWI-RC does what it says. I installed a new stereo in a 2011 Corolla and needed an adapter to work the steering wheel controls. This unit is installed and working perfectly. I am by no means an expert installer, this was my first in about 15 years. If you go to the pac website and enter your vehicle to get the specific instructions, it is doable for the novice. You have to clip the factory head unit plug wires from the factory plug to connect the interface. My new head unit had a wire that said "steering wheel control", so that was easy. Takes a little patience to program, but not too bad.

Pros: works great after proper install

Cons: instructions...instructions

Very poor instructions

Written By J Texas, Dallas, Tx on Saturday, January 17, 2015

Thoroughly read the instructions and tried to prepare the harness before replacing the factory radio. When I got to the radio of the 02 Acura TL the instruction were incomplete and the unit could not be installed. Customer service was not available over the weekend to help. Everything else I purchased (speakers, speaker harnesses and mounts, stereo and stereo harness) worked and fit great.

This product did exactly what I needed it to. Retain the factory steering wheel controls in a 2007 Scion TC with a Pioneer AVH-X3600BHS. Followed the step by step programming instructions. Had to do it twice because the first time I tried to program the same button for more than one function but it will not do that so I reprogrammed it and it worked properly

Pros: Works as advertised Cheaper than the Axxess model

Cons: Programming instructions may be confusing for some people.

SWI-RC adapter

Written By ChuckC, Illinois on Thursday, January 08, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product seems complicated at first, but became more clear when I downloaded the specific instructions for my vehicle (2011 Prius). It takes some study of the instructions before trying to set it up. You need to sort out the wires to use and understand the programming procedure. It has to be programmed after connecting it into the car wiring, so is a bit awkward. I went through the procedure several times and thought I was doing it right, but there was no response from the radio when I pressed a button on the steering wheel. When I was about to give up, I tried setting the radio REMOTE to ON, and it all worked. Since I had not purchased the optional hand-held remote, I did not realize that I had to set up the radio this way. All was good after that.

Pros: Clever universal interface device. Specific instructions are available online. Worked as advertised after all was done.

Cons: Complex and awkward to set it up. Nothing directed me to program my radio to ON for REMOTE controller (this is more a Kenwood issue).

The unit works great in our 2009 Ford Fusion and we were able to keep all of the steering wheel controls for volume, search and media selection. We are very happy with this product. Product was used with a Pioneer FH-X700BT stereo. I can understand where this product may have some challenges with different head units and vehicles, but for the Fusion and Pioneer it simply works as it was supposed to!

Pros: Some functions work.

Cons: Volume up on steering wheel makes the volume go down. Volume down on steering wheel is now mute. Memory recall on steering wheel is now seek. The music (mode) control on the steering wheel works fine.

It said the volume control wheel wasn't programmable so I didnt even try it.. You also need to run a wire to ignition I believe

Cons: Add more wires

Wouldn't put in a new deck without it

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wouldn't give up steering wheel controls for anything so I'm glad this made my F150 compatible with the new Kenwood deck I put in.

Pros: You can program whatever function you want to each button even if it's not what it used to be from the factory. (I turned my "source" button into a "next track" button since I only had four buttons to work with and needed two of them for my volume controls.

Cons: Directions could have been a lot better and I hate working with products that are "universal" because there is a lot of unnecessary stuff to sort through which can make things confusing. Price is a little crazy for what you get but like I said I wouldn't go without one.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got this for a maxima. And it's getting sent back. For the money there are easier options out there. Too complicated. And there's resistors included and you may find your self soldering. Unlike an axxess you will need to program manually. Each function. Which takes a ton of time. Can't beat the axxess. This PAC. I feel is completely is a waste of time

Pros: None

Cons: soldering of resistors needed. Complicated instructions. Must manually program

Faulty Instruction Manual

Written By Edwin, California on Thursday, January 01, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Poor laid out instruction manual.

Pros: Best thing you can do, is not to buy...Look for something better than this piece of crap! Call a Crutchfield advisor for something better.

Cons: Instruction manual poorly laid out. I had to call Crutchfield tech support 4 times as I went along an obstacle because of how of vague the steps of the instruction manual was written and illustrated. Programing took me while till I got it right. On the '07 Mazda 3 the next track/ next radio station is limited in function... will work to change to the next radio station as you move along the stations. But will not respond to the presets you programed into the radio I Do Not Recommend!!

Does not work with Honda Pilot 2006 EX

Written By Sean, Princeton, NJ on Tuesday, December 23, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This kit is a waste of my time and money. Thanks to Crutchfield they let me return for a full refund. The instruction is a mess. It talks about how to connect it to my car's OEM radio connectors. But I got this kit to replace my OEM radio, so I need to connect it to the Metra 70-1721 Receiver Wiring Harness. It says to connect the white wire to pin 3. The problem is that Pin 3 on the Metra Harness is an empty hole, and there are three white wires.

Pros: None

Cons: Does not work. The instruction is minimal and confusion.

PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Adapter

Written By Anonymous, the Washington, DC Area on Sunday, December 21, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The gray and white wire with yellow spots is available to tap into in the opening of the radio. It is not necessary to remove the cover of the steering column to access the wire. This wire was plugged into the radio via a separate connector. Be sure to take note that a separate programming is required for this buttons on the steering wheel. The R/T and mute button are not programmable. Somewhat confusing but doable.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this on my 2005 f150 about a week ago, and so far, no complaints! Install was simple because I was replacing a different SWI unit that was not compatible with my head unit. I have a Pioneer AVIC F700BT, which did have mixed reviews about the functionality with this unit, but have had no issues.

Pros: Simple connecter to unplug and replug when swapping out different SWI's within the PAC brand, instructions clearly explained programming.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I first hooked it up it worked perfect. Then next time I used it the volume down wouldn't work. After and hour of driving it began to work but now sometimes none of the buttons work. Not sure what the problem is. It may have something to do with the low temp lately as it seems to work once the car has warmed up.

Pros: Easy to program and install (ounce you get you bearings).

Cons: Some functions don't work all the time. Not sure if unit is defective or if it is just too cold right now.

Works As Advertised

Written By MattC, Burlington, KY on Sunday, December 14, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used this SWI-RC with a Pioneer FH-X720BT receiver in a 2009 Camry LE (originally with base audio).

Pros: Fairly simple to install & program if you read over the directions a few times prior to actually taking the steps.

Cons: Most challenging part of install was finding the proper 3 factory steering wheel control wires from the Toyota harness. The PAC instructions (pin diagram) was accurate, but I double-checked versus a Toyota wiring diagram. I wanted to be 100% certain before cutting the wires from the factory harness to connect to the adapter.

Decent product, ridiculous install

Written By Nate, MI on Saturday, December 13, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to keep my steering wheel controls so I took the chance with this adapter. Even with the "detailed" instructions from the PAC website (some broken steps with one picture with arrows pointing to a wire, like a 10 year old setup the instructions), it still requires a few hours and several re-reads. I only had to splice into one wire, but in today's world why should I be required to splice into factory wires? It took a few hours to install because
1. the one wire I had to use on the adapter was not long enough to go from the radio area to where I had to splice into, so I had to extend the wire by soldering another wire - PAC could honestly add 6-8 inches to the wires to make it easier. If someone didn't need the extra wire, they could clip it, rather than making people hodge-podge something together
2. After extending the wire, I had to snake it through my dash, and
3. I just took my time. Programming the unit wasn't horrible, but took me a few tries because I would start the process and when I looked down to read the directions and waited longer than 5 seconds, the unit stopped the programming mode, so I'd have to restart.

All in all, its a solution but seriously PAC needs to come up with a better solution so people don't have to splice wires. I've only had this in one day but thus far no issues. I have this dreaded feeling that something will break or stop working down the road.

Pros: Does what it says it will when done correctly

Cons: Install is not overly complicated, just ridiculous in that you have to splice into your factory wires, which runs the risk of screwing something up and also the wires may not be long enough from the unit to where you need to go in the dash.

Cons: None that i can think of.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got it installed and it works great, but I had to call the manufacturer a couple times to ask questions. The directions are not great for DYI installs. On my Lexus, I had to splice three wires into the auto side of one of the car's factory harnesses (black-white, white and black). Programming sounds difficult, but isn't. Just follow directions.

too simple

Written By Ed S, Nebraska on Wednesday, December 03, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There's nothing to this. I read, and re-read, the instructions looking for the difficult part. Just solder on the power, ground, and one signal lead. Clip off the non-used wires just to keep things clean. Follow the programming instructions and send your daughter back to college happy.

Cons: Wasn't able to replicate one of the functions from stock. What had been "scroll down" is now "scroll through radio bands".

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this item to install with my Pioneer stereo that I also bought from Crutchfield. I read the instructions with the item and all the tips on the website. I wired it up and had the item trying to recognize the steering wheel controls on my vehicle but it never would. I called Crutchfield support and they were very helpful with other ideas to try and get it working but in the end it still never worked for me. I got tired of messing with it after several hours and returned it.

Pros: Great idea

Cons: Poor result for me. I'm sure it works well with most people judging by other reviews but I wasn't able to get it working correctly.
