Your music library may be the greatest, but it's trapped in a world the size of an earbud. How are you and 20 of your closest friends supposed to get it rolling? You like the idea of a great-sounding portable speaker but a little rain could give a whole new meaning to the term "buzz-kill." Unlike some other portable Bluetooth speakers, the AirGo is built to scoff at the weather. So you can dance on the dock, chill on the chaise, party on the patio, and stomp on the stoop — wherever you make your splash, the AirGo can take it.
AirGo has a weather-proof compartment that houses its matching Bluetooth receiver. Simply connect the built-in power plug and the included Bluetooth dongle, close the hatch and you're ready for take-off. You can even see the Bluetooth status light through a small window in the chamber.
No need to get out of your seat when you want to change up the tunes. You can take full control of your jams right from your Bluetooth-compatible smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Anything you can play through your device, you can play through the AirGo — stored music, Pandora® Internet radio, Spotify®, or audio from movies and videos. The possibilities are virtually endless.
You can plug in wherever you've got an AC outlet. Stereo tweeters and a 6-1/2" woofer with a beefy built-in amp deliver the sound loud and clear. And when the season changes (or you just want music someplace else), unplug the AirGo and use its carry handle to take it indoors.
Outdoor speakers are built tough -- they laugh at wind, rain and weather. Tuck a pair under your eaves and they'll pump out the tunes to keep everybody smiling and swaying at your next cookout or pool party. We also have some "rock" speakers that blend seamlessly into your landscaped lawn or garden.
Love it, just what I wanted for working in the garage and shed. Set-up was quick and easy, just follow the instructions. Portable, but gives good Clean volume. Maybe not as loud as some, but loud enough and no distortion even with some taxing classical selections.
Pros: pure, clean sound
Cons: none from me
Sounds good with Bluetooth but fabulous with Chromecast Audio
The airgo is an amazing product in every way. Extremely simple to setup via the Bluetooth adapter or installing your airport express. Just be sure it's an older model gen 1 airport express not the newer gen 2. The sound is fantastic and has excellent bass response for such a small speaker. Really quality audio and construction is great. Have had several friends some of which are musicians comment on the sound quality. Love this unit so much I purchased another. The best part its waterproof so if you forget it outside like I did and it rains it will not harm the airgo. Must have for Apple users that want portable outdoor music or indoor for that matter.
Pros: Sound, easy setup
Cons: Nothing really. Would be nice if it had a built in DAC
Fantastic sound; great value
Great sound. I wanted Bluetooth convenience in a powered unit. This does not disappoint. Heavy and large, not portable.
Pros: Good sound. Works great and streams Bluetooth.
We thought is was a miss shipped Mac from the the 80's. The good part about that is it weighed about the same telling me it had some good magnets for the bass.. The bad part was my wife said it better sound good as ugly as it is. It appears very durable and has quality construction...It was okay in sound quality, actually 'pretty good' for the price but the sound output level was disappointing. The document (sticker on the front) talked about attaching an Apple Air something or another . That may produce the expected result but ..whatever. I have a Samsung S3 my son had the Apple iPhone 4 both produced the same result, good sound quality but not quite enough volume..I do consider it worth the money at Crutchfield. (Funny thing my Pandora kept playing Bee Gees songs even on the Delta Blues station..HA! Just kidding). Oh by the way the "Free" little Bluetooth Gadget kind of fell apart as I placed it in the nice little nest for it. It was the snap on cover and not a big deal. I just snapped it back together.
Pros: Good sound quality, Good Bass for the price
Cons: Uuuuuuuuugly, and too low sound level output at max volume
Great product, great value. The Bluetooth adapter was included and it was easy and works perfectly with my iPhone 6. This speaker has more bass in it then any other wireless speaker I've ever heard
Great speaker. It has great sound! Love the fact I don't have to be concerned with it being outdoors. We actually just leave it plugged in in the garage.
Plug and play did not disappoint, but volume option may not be good for the block, only for the next door neighbors. Usual Crutchfield quality ..... belongs in this catalog and extremely reasonable without drowning out conversations
Pros: Quality/ Price/ inconspicuous with the furniture
Cons: Volume in case of a larger outdoor area
I have always been cautious about outdoor speakers but this one certainly took care of all my reservations. It is bigger than I thought it would be, and heavier. Setting it up with the Russound bluetooth adapter took all of a few seconds. The sound is big and powerful. Battery operation would be nice, but perhaps not practical with a speaker this size. No complaints about having to plug it in - this is a wonderful speaker!
Pros: Big sound, weather resistance, bluetooth.
Cons: Only thing that could potentially be referred to as a con is the lack of battery operation.
Nice unit overall . A tad bit heavy to move around but I purchased this unit primarily for the garage . With that said , I'll give it four stars . It does have a great sound and links easily to my iPhone or iPads . As usual , superb shipping and support Crutchfield !!
Pros: Overall sound and ease of connection .
Cons: Mobility .
I bought a 2nd generation airport express as it installs seamlessly into the Russound speaker where Bluetooth adapter goes. The speaker works great with AirPlay. Great sound and lots of power. Only downside is that it doesn't have a battery.
Pros: Good sound, powerful, easy to use with AirPlay when used with proper airport express
Cons: No rechargeable battery.
Researched a lot for a wireless outdoor speaker for our back deck. Didn't need LOUD but I really wanted a nice full sound with good quality throughout the volume range. Our deck is pretty high off the ground above a walkout basement, so there is a need to get some range so we can hear the music throughout the yard.
First things first, this thing is FUGLY. Like really really bad. Yeah, its an outdoor speaker, but YIKES. It looks like a circa 1999 CRT computer monitor. There is a LOT of extra, unnecessary size to the unit. I read reviews and tried to judge the size by the pics, but its deceivingly LARGE...so be prepared for that.
I had already purchased the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio BT speaker. A VERY nice looking and even better sounding speaker. It has a rechargeable battery that lasts about 5 hours and sounds amazing. When plugged in, it sounds even better. BUT, I was really looking for a speaker to leave outside at all times...it would be under the soffit and pretty protected, but leaving it outside was the goal. Mainly because my wife insisted that I would end up drinking too much whiskey and forget to bring the HK Onyx inside.
So, I purchased this Russound mongoloid of a unit, willing to look past its appearance for great sound. Unboxed it, added the BT adapter, plugged it and and...disappointment. The HK Onyx...even when running on battery out performed this Russound in every category. Rock, rap, reggae, blues, funk and overall volume.
So...there ya go.
Pros: Girth, weight and magnitude
Cons: Freakishly ugly. VERY large. Must be plugged in.
This speaker is big, solid, heavy and loud. Setup was a snap using the included (promo) bluetooth adapter. I was playing loud music on my screen porch in about 10 minutes from UPS drop off.
Pros: Solid. Loud. Excellent sale price. Included the optional Bluetooth adapter.
Cons: Too expensive when not on sale. Not omnidirectional but not needed for my use.
My future son-in-law suggested this product and he made a good choice. It was simple to setup for Bluetooth so when we have parties outside anyone with a smart phone can play their music via our speaker.
Pros: Simple Bluetooth setup
Cons: I would not have purchased this item without getting the Bluetooth with it.
Excellent speaker. Bigger than I expected and much better made. Love how it encases the Airport Express (1st gen; not sure how adaptable it is to 2nd gen shape but might be just fine). Great that they include a Bluetooth adapter too.
Pros: Loud & clear, sturdy, nice rubber seal around Airport / Bluetooth adapter housing and power switch.
Cons: None yet
Very impressed with the ease of setup and the sound. A great value for the price.
Pros: Paired easily right out of the box. Nice warm sound
Cons: Range is a very tight 30 feet from your device. It could use a bit more gain. It would be nice to pair it with a second unit.
I was a bit hesitant to buy this system because of the mixed reviews. However, after receiving it, I am buying two more. The Bluetooth® adapter set-up is easy and the sound is great. I have not yet heard the "buzzing" some other reviewers complained about and I knew before I purchased it that it was bulky/heavy. Other reviewers said they disliked that there is no volume control on the unit itself. I am not sure why that is a problem. I listened to various music, movies, videos, etc. and kept the volume via Bluetooth® all the way up and never had a problem with the speakers sounding distorted or too loud. For me, it is convenient to adjust the volume from my phone rather than at the speakers. The only negative thing I can say is that, aesthetically, it looks like something designed in the 80s or 90s. Other than that, this system is perfect indoors or out.
Pros: Price, sound, ease of set-up
Great product, sounds great for a backyard speaker.
Pros: Sounds great!!
I bought the Russound AirGo for a specific purpose - to allow for weather-proof music on my screen porch, and to have a quality portable speaker to take to other locations where there is no music source, such as my basement work area, or garage. For those purposes I find the AirGo to be excellent. It has a great range of sound - pulling out subtleties I don't notice on any other system I own (e.g., bass lines and rhythms are very clear). It most definitely performs better indoors and with a wall or corner to use to help boost the depth of the sound. Outdoors it is not quite as terrific, but is still a very capable performer. As some reviewers have noted, it is very heavy - I like this. I believe that is the trade-off for the truly terrific sound quality from the speakers inside.
Having said all of that, I would never have purchased this product when it was a "new" product line for a higher price. But with the price it's at now with the free bluetooth adapter, it's truly a great buy, and I'm very happy. Just know that this product has a very limited, and mostly singular purpose/capability. It has no volume control (only the linked device can control the volume), although it does have an onboard mute. Without a volume control, you are limited to the volume your device, and/or the source being played on the device, can muster. Indoors, this is more than enough; outdoors, it remains to be seen.
I recommend the product if you need a high quality bluetooth speaker - that is what this product is.
Pros: Great sound. Angle-tilt for speaker. Quality build and components.
Cons: No onboard volume control - or controls of any kind other than mute. Quirky appearance and significant weight may not appeal to some, although I like both.
Surprisingly good sounds, I set it up with the airport express first generation very easy to do and it fits perfectly in the back compartment. Works great love the price too,,
Pros: Plug in power easy setup, wireless, good sounds
Cons: Would be nice a volume controll on the device!
I love it!
I got this outdoor speaker as scheduled fr. Crutchfield and gave it to my son as a Birthday gift . First comment from him is it is heavy and big,but that's the way he like it to be . The bluetooth adapter was installed in few minute without any problem. We are both satisfied that it is included with the speaker. The initial trial inside the house produce a loud sound not harsh , the driver and the tweeter seems balanced. All this have to be initiated by turning it on by pressing the red bottom. The unit feels solidly built , with big platform, and heavy . It is all to its advantage, meaning it is stable, not easily knock out specially outdoor. It comes with a comfortable handle. Overall it looks indestructible , with an aggressive and macho look. As for the bluetooth adapter it looks innovative with a mini jack output with its USB connecting easily to its power source. My grandson was dancing with it the last time I visited them. I have to see how it does in his deck on my next visit. Wonderful outdoor speaker.
Pros: Heavy, sturdy, stable , loud if you wanted to. I like the bluetooth adapter since we all have iPhone and iPad.Easy to transport with its handle
Earmuffs Crutchfield... If I saw this product in action at a friend's house and didn't know what it cost, I would have gladly pay 2-3 times more than I paid for this. The sound quality is incredible for this type of product. I bought this for convenient back-porch music in a neighborhood where a super-powerful system was not an option. This sounds great in a wide open backyard, and I also love it in the garage. For those two situations, there is still power to spare and it sounds just as good at low volume too. Set up was incredibly easy with the included bluetooth adapter. It may be heavier than other products in its class, but sounds much better, and the large handle makes it very easy to carry for anyone. I've let it get rained on and it's still going strong.
Pros: great sound, super convenient, weatherproof, great value, easy set up
Cons: Necessarily heavy for the great sound quality
I bought this speaker wanting to leave it outside permanently. First off, this speaker sounds great for outdoor or indoor use. A little on the ugly side, and Obviously the old apple airport express seems to be an issue because Apple does not sell them anymore. I went ahead and bought a new style Apple airport express which is slightly larger. The power Plug matches right up, but in order to make this new Apple router work I did have to carefully shave off two sides of the plastic housing of the new airport express with a Dremel tool. A little scary when that started because I knew that the warranty was going to be voided immediately on the Apple airport express new version at apple store. After carefully shaving the entire plastic sides off of two sides using the female adapter that comes with the kit I was able to use a short extension for the audio connector. I set up my Apple airport express on my iMac and now it works great flawless connection with no interference and I have a nice clean channel for smooth audio in the backyard! It works great!!
Pros: Rain or shine, Great sound! Ability to create outdoor wi-fi hotspot with the mods I did was a huge plus!
Cons: Ugly styling, looks strange sitting in the landscape, but i can put bushes around it. ;-)
Yo !!!!!!!!!! This thing is the bomb!!!!!! I just received it on 8/27. Once I saw the box I kinda paniced. I thought the speaker was the size of the box. Hook up was simple & easy it synced automatically to my phone. I turned it on & played a song I'm in heaven !!!!!!! I am glad I purchased this so now I have to play TAPS for my JBL flip. After two hours it dies. So now I made this my replacement. Boy I am glad I did. Now, I don't have to fumble with my boom box & the iPhone for phone calls I got it all in one. I'm just waiting for the house to be empty so I can crank this thing up. But it arrived just in time for Labor Day!!!!!!! Thanks again Crutchfield for
EM from Philadelphia PA
Pros: Nice size speaker bigger than I thought it was in the picture. Nice sound. I like the sturdy handle for convenience in case you have to take it with you. I like the heavy ness of the speaker.
Cons: None that I see!!!!!!
I am impressed with the quality of sound and the size and weight of the unit. I expected it to be bowling ball size and it probably twice that size. The fact that the wifi capability is tied to old Apple technology, Gen one Airport Express, is a problem. That unit requires a desktop computer to do the setup to include it in your network. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but I'm on a remote sight with only an iPad to work with. All is not lost because Crutchfield supplied a Bluetooth connection which works well. I'm certain when I get this home and can do the proper setup with the Airport utility, it will be perfect.
Pros: The waterproof aspect is perfect for my Pacific Northwest climate.
Cons: It would be nice if the manufacture could do a modification to make new generation Airport Base Stations work with the AirGo. It doesn't seem to be much of a stretch. The inconvenience probably explains the greatlly discounted price.
Very good high quality sound fort the price paid. The included blue tooth device does OK, but invest in a first generation Apple AirPort for the best sound.
Pros: Loud clean bass
speaker is kinda mono tone, but not bad overall for the price. mine came with a bluetooth attachement really simple to connect. you can play music from any blue tooth divice.
Pros: price, made to resist outdoor weather. very easy to setup. sound is decent and loud enough
Cons: sounds is a little muffle but still good.
When i listened to it in the show room i was skeptical that it would have enough volume. For a single speaker it has good sound, better then expected but will not rock a loud group of people. This works out well as the neighbors will not get upset when the kids use it. Thinking about a second one for the garage.
Pros: Portability, out door rated, just loud enough, Blue tooth connection was simple
Cons: Sound quality is average, don't expect to rock the entire block
The speaker has an awesome sound controlled Via: Your phone W/ Bluetooth.
Pros: Good Sound. Easy Hook Up.
Cons: Volume has to be controlled on your Phone !
I researched this Russound AirGo speaker before purchasing through Crutchfield, I then got an email from Crutchfield stating the AirGo was on sale with a FREE blue tooth adapter! That did it for me! along with FREE shipping to boot! I got the product about two days later and eagerly unboxed it. Now, here's where it gets a tad tricky. I read that you more than likely needed the Apple Airport Express (AEX) and that the BTA was unreliable. So, not being a huge techie, I purchased a new first generation AEX and downloaded the software; then installed in the AirGo. After one minute of playing music thru my iphone 5, the music dropped out (audio)? Checked the iphone and played music again. This time, it lasted another min and the audio dropped out once again? This went on for abt an hr, and I almost boxed up the AirGo to send it back; thinking it was a malfunctioning unit. Fortunately, I decided to unpack the blue tooth adapter and see what happened. Well, all I can tell you is, once it was set up (2 mins to do), the music has streamed FLAWLESSLY and without interruption since! The only time the music dropped is when I moved the phone close to the 30 foot max range it can be from the AirGo. It was worked as stated!! Now to address the AEX. I searched the net, and found my wireless home router is on the same channel as the AEX. WIthout an Apple laptop ( I have a windows PC) I cannot change it, hundreds of other have the same issue. So, my advice is use the BTA!
Pros: Great speaker and sound for my yard- Very sturdy unit- Has been out in the rain twice already and no issues-
Cons: Try the bluetooth adapter FIRST! before purchasing a first gen AEX! Google "Apple Airport express audio dropout" before you do
Would buy it again in a heartbeat
This is a fun product. Works seamlessly with my IPAD and my Galaxy 5 Phone. Your own party dj!
Pros: Bluetooth, nice sound for patio as Rea without an installed speaker.
Cons: A bit bulky
Just what I was looking for! I use the AirGo for music on my deck and Patio. Weather proof and easy to set up, I also bought a 1st gen Air Port express at an auction sight. ($39 new in sealed box) and it works flawlessly with all of our apple products. I also bout a used I touch at the same auction sight and loaded it with my music library for use with the speaker.
The unit is large but the sound quality is great and the portability from one level to the next is easy enough, just plug in and your set. Crutchfield's price is way better than other places so I would not hesitate to buy.
I would buy several if you were able to run more than one speaker from a single device
Pros: Great Sound Easy to use Weather Proof Price
Cons: Size only single speaker that cannot be configured into a network
Easy to set up and use speaker with excellent sound quality.
Pros: Easy set up Nice portable size
Great sound for single speaker. Easy out the box 1 st time use.
Pros: Great Sound. Easy Operation.
Cons: Plug in. Wound be nice if it had battery option.
great sound , easy to hook up, portable, no issues except that only one speaker per blue tooth device. i would have loved to have more than one speaker at a time.
5 stars at this price, can't see how you could do better. It's a relatively large speaker and offers nice sound and decent volume. I've used it for a year on the patio and in the garage and am very happy. It's been outside under cover during heavy rain and no problems at all. As an outdoor speaker it works perfectly. I bought an older airport express from an auction site to use with it as current models don't fit the space. I may try the new bluetooth adapter to see if that improves the connection from my phone.
This was surprisingly large! I found it on sale on Crutchfield so didn't realize it was so big. That being said, I'm very happy with this outdoor speaker. Part of the sale came with a free BT adapter which works great. The sound is quite full, decent bass and decent treble. Not audiophile but for for a backyard or poolside patio it's perfect. I would recommend it.
Pros: Good sound, easy connection to devices, waterproof, loud without distortion
Cons: Large, would be nice to be able to link two of them together. Also a low power mode for when it can "sleep" when no connection is found.
Connects using USB Bluetooth adaptor quick & easy. Sound is great, plenty loud enough for outside. Perfect for a deck, yard or garage.
Pros: Sound, weatherproof, easy of use.
The family loves it. We use it out by the pool and at the lake. It provides quality sound and good volume.
As many others have reviewed, this is a nice product for the money. The integration of the Gen 1 Airport Express is really cool, especially if you have one around the house not in use. The deal I got came with a free Bluetooth adapter that so far is not worth much. I tried both the AE and the BT and obviously the AE has a better sound quality due to the streaming technology used. However, the BT has a buzz/humming sound that is very noticeable when the speaker is powered on and the BT is plugged in. The BT adapter is also a cool design which has 2 USB ports on it and the BT adapter has an 1/8" stereo plug for connecting to the AirGo speaker. But as I mentioned, it has a noticeable buzz sound which is really annoying.
The above BT issue aside, the speaker sounds really nice. As others have noted it is MUCH bigger than you would think based on the videos. Look at the specs for dimensions and weight. It is built like a brick house which is pretty nice and I believe will hold up for the long haul. Overall, a very nice setup, especially if you are an Apple person and have an older Airport Express sitting around, it is well worth the money at this price. I have read it used to be 2x this price. I think this speaker is a bargain at this price, especially if you like having music outside and running speak wires from a home theater receiver/amp is going to be a pain.
Pros: -Decent sound quality for the price point and speaker size -More than loud enough, even outside....it is super loud -Great integration of the 1st gen Airport Express -Button is water proof -Has sight window to see color status of AE when installed and powered on -Unit's power cord has nice cord management wrap on the back which is contained within the unit itself
Cons: -Free Bluetooth adapter is junk...audible buzz in the background -As other have noted, no volume button on the unit itself (you have to use iTunes/Airplay to control volume) -Airport Express compartment requires screw driver to access
This speaker is exactly what I was looking for! Perfect for outside by the pool, washing the car, whatever! Great sound for the money!!
Pros: The speaker is extremely well built.
Cons: None yet.
Great speaker, I love how the airport fits in it
Pros: Airport Express
This works great. Exactly for what I wanted it for. I can now control what I want to listen to outside, while others listen to what they want to, inside. OR all speakers can have the same music. It's much heavier and bigger than I expected.
Pros: size, great volume, easy to assemble,
Cons: Since it's an outdoor speaker, it would be nice to have an aux port incase you wanted to take this away from a wifi network.
Great item. I have purchased 3 of these and set them up at home and for others to use. The quality of the sound is great. They are exceptionally easy to set up if you use Airport Utility 5.6.1 to set up the Airport Express. You will be nothing but frustrated if you use the current version of Airport Utility 6.3.2 to try to configure it. I'm not sure it even allows you to configure the old type Airport Express needed for the Russound AirGo. Its a little tricky to set up 5.6.1 if you have OS X 10.9 Mavericks, but it can be done. I just googled it and found the solution.
Pros: Great sound quality, very portable
Cons: Directions don't give enough information on how to configure the Airport Express so you have to play around with it a little to make it work.
Easy to setup, sturdy design, really practical. The sound is more than adequate for exterior usage: clear and crisp!
If you have older Airport Express' looking for home, at this price you can't beat these speakers. Sound is good and the airplay functionality is great.
Great product, sounds great outside near our pool. Works flawlessly with all our devices. Got a refurbished airport express cheap. Extremely happy with the purchase and product
Pros: Works flawlessly with all my devices
I liked these speakers so well I bought three of them. Good sound. Easy setup. Good use for my collection of older model Apple Airport Express's. I have not tested the weatherproof quality of these speakers yet. Be ware that the current Apple Express's will not fit these speakers hence the good value pricing.
Pros: Heavy, solid construction.
Cons: Heavy, solid construction.
I have a large backyard and wanted music at the pool. The run is too far for conventional speaker wire to efficiently work. I purchased one of these units to tie into Airplay off my main sound system in the house. I plugged in an Airport express and instant music. It also works off of your Airplay on your Mac computer, Ipad or iPhone. (I don't know if that is available to Windows users of iTunes.) It worked so well I purchased a second unit. Now I can have music wherever I have power. It is loud if you want. This will be great for large parties.
Pros: Great price right now.
Cons: You have to supply your own Airport express and they do not make this style any longer but you can still find them on eBay etc.
It's a lot bigger than I expected and gets really loud. Sounds great. I was looking into putting in a whole outdoor "solution" for $$$$ so figured take a chance on this for the low price and glad I did. All else I needed was a new airport express to replace the old one that needs to be installed in the speaker. So another $100 but now I've got seamless streaming music indoors and out.
Pros: Price Setup Value
Every time I plugged in the Airport Express, the speaker just made a loud static sound. I tried to call the phone number on their website, and I got a generic voice mail message like it hadn't even been setup.
Also, this thing is way bigger than what I was hoping for.
I sent it back.
This speaker works great if you are looking for a wireless outdoor solution. It is much larger than I expected. I would probably be disappointed at full price, but for this price plus a refurbished Airport Express it is a great solution. Airport Express also acts a wifi extension!
I would highly recommend this product. All you need is a single outlet, a first gen airport express, and a home wifi setup. Then you can listen to good quality music any were in the area of your wifi signal. Plug it in out back, or move it out front, or the garage, or any other room in the house. Being a single unit all you do is plug it in and wait for you computer to recognize the signal from the airport express inside the back of the speaker(not included). It took me a while to set up the airport express, but that's my fault. Easy once it's set up! Not the highest quality sound but 1-10 I'd give it an 8 for volume and 6 for full spectrum quality so over all a 7.
Glad I did not spend $400. on this unit. Though at $125. it is well worth. Great sound and built for stout. Good opportunity to use your Gen 1 Airport Express on this(plus gives you an excuse to upgrade to Gen 2 AE !).
Pros: - Good + sound - Built for stout ( heavy, space heater size) - Easy to use with Gen 1 Airport Express - Loud powerful amp (2 tweeters 1 woofer)
Cons: - requires 115 volt input ( not cordless) - no volume on unit ( must control from ipod iphone etc) - no stereo separation
I bought two of these speaker units from Crutchfield, one for the breezeway and one for the back deck of my house. I had a couple of unused Apple Airport Express units already on hand and not currently used. With the price here (significantly less expensive than list) this is a great deal. Good quality speaker, good sound quality, super-robust outdoor speaker with silly easy networking. If you look back at the reviews online for this speaker, they're uniformly positive except for the price. That's fixed now!
Pros: Ease of use. Rugged.
Cons: Not the most aesthetically pleasing.
This speaker at the Crutchfield clearance price is a fantastic deal. You can thank Apple for discontinuing the Airport Express. I have a couple spare Express units, so easy for me to put one in this speaker. Airplaying from my iPhone in about 3 minutes after opening back plate to install Express. Plenty of volume for outside use, and built very well. Sound is very good very a single speaker ( not stereo, but will sure power a party!).
Pros: It can sure pump out the sound! Built like a tank.
Cons: It is not small, or lightweight.
Great product, easy set up. Didn't experience any of the issues some of the other folks have reported. My wife now prefers to play her iTunes through the AirGo via her iPhone rather than messing with the AppleTV and the home theatre system. Bigger than I expected, but well built. It's too bad this product is going away due to the redesign of the Airport Express, though honestly the associated price reduction was the reason why I purchased it. I'm even considering buying myself another old model Airport Express so I can set up a second AirGo in my garage!
Pros: Easy set up, well constructed.
Cons: A bit bulky.
This speaker works great! I use it on my deck and have even taken it along to other locations. Works great. Would definitely recommend it especially for the price!
Pros: Weather durability - I live in central SD so the -20 temperatures we have had hasn't bothered it a bit
Cons: Can't really say there are any as of yet.
After watching prices on the AirGo at other retailers, I was amazed to see Crutchfield's price, including free delivery! I ordered one at that price, then ordered a used Airport Express from a different retailer. I received the AirGo this afternoon and within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box had it connected to another Airport Express (that had been providing music to some indoor speakers) and blasting music in my living room. After finding the volume control on the iTunes window and turning it down a little, it sounds powerful and solid. While I would not want to use the AirGo indoors for too long, my first impression is that it should be great outdoors - it definitely has the ability to put out a lot of sound. I can't wait for warmer temps so that I can use it on my patio! I probably would not have purchased an AirGo for anywhere near its list price, but for or a total investment of $ for both AirGo and Airport Express, I think this rates five stars.
Pros: Ease of connection and use. Price at Crutchfield! Grab one at this price before they are gone! Powerful sound - it won't sound weak and tinny outdoors like some other units.
Cons: No volume control on the unit, but this was not a deal breaker for me. If you have an iOS device, you should be able to stream music to the AirGo and control the volume with your iPhone, iPad or laptop Mac. I am streaming from a desktop iMac and will simply set the volume from there; it might be a small nuisance to run inside to adjust it at times, but I don't expect that to be a major problem.
I have been looking for a long time for a outdoor rated wireless speaker system for my outdoor BBQ/Kitchen. I have been using the Apple Airport Express and a self powered Logitec 2.1 speakers system on my BBQ island. Its great to be outdoors at night and listen to tunes while Que'ing and entertaining, and the Airport Express has worked well to pump the music outside without the need for hard wired speaker systems driven by a amp inside the house. My Self powered 2.1 speaker system from Logitec worked well for a few years but the elements have taken its toll on the exposed speakers and they have fallen apart. It looks to be built like a brick house. It's heavy duty and really cranks out the sound. Frankly, to much sound for use indoors. Because there is no volume adjustment knob on the unit, you have to turn it down with the volume control on your computer or iDevice. Even at it's lowest setting it is still to loud for indoor enjoyment. I only hope it is not to loud when in an outdoor environment. I deducted a star because of the lack of volume adjustment on the AirGo. The maker went to the effort to have a fancy lighted mute button but no volume knob. Dumb I like the fact that I can pull it indoors over the winter, and can leave it outdoors during the warmer months without fear of a shower or dew harming the unit. I also like that I can pick it up and place it in garage for when I am working on a project or washing a car. Portability is a plus
Pros: Easy set up, HEAVY Duty, good sound, Waterproof and rated for outdoors, wireless, and works with my old Airport Express, price from Crutchfield is far lower than other retailers (by a lot, which leads me to believe this product has reached its lifecycle end, cuz the new airport express is now different) Get it while you can.
Cons: Designed by George Jetson. Needs a volume adjustment knob on the unit itself. You really can not turn this thing down enough for comfortable indoor listening, even at the lowest setting on you iDevice - plan to use this in the great outdoors. It's pretty big. Reminds me of my first 12" TV had in College. It's almost that big and front heavy like that. Not a big problem and it won't be knocked over by a stiff breeze or a stiff power cord. (When it dies, I can use it for a boat anchor).
I research exhaustively when I make purchases of tech gear. Knowing that I would leave this device outside most of the time (which I did all summer), I was interested in how it would perform and last. I rarely write reviews but someone asked me about outdoor speakers yesterday and during my type up I thought I would look back over the reviews. I saw the review about the humming speaker - you sure it's not the Airport express or that you don't have an electrical problem? Typically humming is a grounding problem. If not, then probably a bad unit or damaged during shipping - it happens folks, if you got one like that and the replacement did the same thing, ok fine, then bash it, but this doesn't seem to be the case in general with this product.
Pros: Great sound quality for the simplicity of a single unit. Deep Bass, clear sounding at high volumes. Volume - I have a pool and a 3 acre yard, with the sound maxed, it's clear fills most of my yard. I have an airport base station and this device acts as a repeater which expands my wireless coverage. Not sure this will work with non-apple airport case station. Price. Compare for yourself, you'll be hard pressed to find a better speaker for the $ - even after considering the cost of the Airport
Cons: For now, finding an older style airport express. The new airport will not fit. I hope Russsound makes an updated model soon as I would like to give on of these as a gift to my parents for their beach house.
LOVE my AirGo!!! Also love the clever name. Been wanting exactly what I just received for my 65th birthday. Our son had one, and my husband ordered one for me. Can wirelessly use this plug-in-anywhere awesome-sound speaker. Easy to use, plug in any outlet. In or outdoors. Use any device...my own or anyone we give the user word to. Only drawback, with our whole family get-togethers, we have iPhones vying for using their own music. Bumping one another off :-) LOVE IT!!!
Pros: See above
Cons: Still working out our own little bugs with the multi-devices within our home. Not related to the AirGo..
purchased one recently for outdoor use.
Pros: easy to set up and use, practical, no other device like it on the market in terms of being a powered speaker that can wirelessly receive music
Cons: won't work with the new airport express, ugly looking, sound is average at best (though it is difficult to make a good sounding speaker for outdoor use), heavy, once you factor in the cost of the airport express kind of on the pricy side, too much base for my taste
This is a great concept and works exactly as one would expect. When it comes to setup, I was new to the AirPort Express, but realized if Apple made it, it will be simple to set up. I was right. Ironically, it was far easier to set up with the iPad AirPort Utility app than with the PC utility that you get from Apple's site. When you plug in the AirPort Express, give it a minute to power up and do its boot sequence. Then go into your iPad or iPhone settings for WiFi and you will see a separate AirPort section pop up with the new AirPort Express showing up in the list. Then simply follow the instructions and one minute later, you are live and AirPlay and internet is ready to go. It really is that simple. Make sure you don't get the very latest version of AirPort Express since apple did a redesign that makes it not fit in the speaker enclosure.
What makes this setup nicer than any other AirPlay device out there is the ability to use it as a WiFi extender to your home network. You will likely be using this outside your house, where signal strength suffers for your devices. Connect them to the AirPort Express in the speaker and you instantly have full signal strength while you surf the web AND stream your music. You can even set up guest access for them to stream to your speaker if you wish, or if they have non-iOS, give them guest access to internet via the AirPort Express.
Pros: The setup is a breeze, signal strength is excellent (just get the 802.11n version of the AirPort Express as a refurb from Apple directly or your favorite retailer that still sells the previous model), and use could not be any more simple and direct. The latest version of AirPort will not fit in the Russound speaker due to a major design change by Apple. Sound is far better than I ever thought possible. Deep bass, rich sound. The build quality is fantastic and it is sturdy.
Cons: Would be nice to adjust volume on the speaker directly with some physical buttons for quick adjustments without having to go to the streaming device. This is particularly noticed when you are whole-house streaming from your computer to multiple devices and want to adjust the local speaker. There is a mute button on the front though. A bundle option including the AirPort Express would be nice from the retailer for convenience too. There are no deal breakers at all here though!
I bought one of the speakers and have used it extensively for over a month now in the back yard. The sound from this system is rich and booming covering a good distance, my backyard is about 100' by 80' with the vast area open. The connection to my iDevices remains strong and without interruption and the airport express fits nicely in it's reserved area. The temperature here is mainly HOT and dry, but we are in our monsoon season so the speakers have had to deal with wetter conditions. Setup was a breeze and was up and operational within 3-5 minutes. I originally wanted to try these speakers out to see if they would be a nice fit and I have been pleased without regrets. I plan to buy a couple more to extend the sound to reach of my yard.
Pros: good sound, nice heavy/sturdy build, easy setup, good price for the system, mobile
Cons: incompatibility to the new airport express
The unit was super easy to set up. There is a Russsound video on you tube that walks you through the entire process. We were listening to Pandora within 10 minutes of opening the box. The airport express is kind of finicky about the wireless signal and will cause the speaker to drop out at times. I have placed it in several locations throughout the house and yard and continue to have issues with it dropping the signal. I even ended up replacing the router but the problem still persists. When the unit works it sounds great. I have toyed with leaving the back cover off and just hooking up a ipod directly to the unit.
Pros: Cool Design, Neat Concept, Great Sound Quality.
Cons: Connectivity Issues
Speakers sound great. I used 4 AirGo speakers in our outdoor kitchen area. 2 in the covered kitchen area and 2 on the open patio. 40' x40' total area. Plenty of sound. We don't need to turn them up 100% because we're on the river and the sound carries a long way. I purchased 4 of the older AirPort Express so they would fit into the back of the AirGo speakers. Works great, but at first I could only use one speaker at a time with my iPad, so I install an iPad app called "remote" on the iPad and all speakers worked using the itunes from my Mac inside the house. I wanted to play Pandora over all speakers so I had to install a program called AirFoil on my laptop. With airfoil, I can play anything on all 4 speakers that's playing on the internet. AirHeart Radio, Pandora, etc. Also have the newer AirPort Express in kitchen area and was able to connect the audio wire from it to the AirGo speaker audio jack and it worked great. Just had to have the back off the speaker for access. If the old AirPort express goes out, I think I'll just drill a hole in the back cover for access to the speaker audio jack and use the newer AirPort. I would think Russound would be updating the back cover soon to handle the newer AirPort. If so, I might could order a cover from them??
Pros: Good sound, can move around to different locations. Can bring inside when not needed.
Cons: No way to mount to ceiling or wall. But then you would have to have a remote AC power switch or X-10 type remote power or the amp would be on all the time.
We have bought two of these Airgo airplay speakers for our backyard/porch that overlooks a golf course and we love them! We can use our iTunes music library, and run music selection and volumes for each speaker from our iphones, ipods or ipads. Weather is viscious here and we can move the speakers indoors or elsewhere easily. This was a great solution and saved us over $1000 for another wireless system we were considering.
Pros: Easy set up, great tone and bass. May eventually add a few more. Note: shipping was fast!
Cons: Did not feel comfortable letting speakers catch any direct sun when it was 110 degrees this summer. Moved them to full shade. No other concerns.
When I first opened the box I was surprised by the weight but for me that is not a bad thing since we can experience some high winds here in the Southwest. No pushing this thing around! It's solid in construction and I have no problems leaving it outside however, the true test is how it'll handle playing for long hours in the heat (I live in El Paso, TX). I am an Apple-connected family so setting it up using an older Express Base station and Airplay connection was a snap on all my devices (MAC desktop, iPod Touch, iPads and iPhones). My niece held a pool party and she and her friends had a blast using it to listen to the music on their phones/iTouch (I gave them access to my "guest" network).
Pros: Portability and I was very surprised at how it sounded. The highs and low responses were very good and sounded almost Bose-like...almost. BTW, I posted this same review on Amazon.com where I ordered this item.
Cons: The only drawbacks and the reason for a four star rating instead of five, is that you must use the older model Airport Express (fortunately I had one) so there's that purchase. Additionally, there is no volume capability on the speaker itself so you'll have to use the volume setting on the airplay device you're using. Not a showstopper but leaving the volume up to the kids to determine isn't always conducive to good neighborly relations. :)
Set it up per instructions, after working for a few minutes, the unit now makes a loud hum/buzz, no music....
Cons: doesn't work, just makes a buzz
We purchased 4 units for outside wireless speakers after receiving a quote for an exorbitant speaker setup. After configuring the airports, the sound is easy to control and the units can be installed anywhere with electricity. The sound is comparable to the other high end outdoor speakers I have tried. Our Airport Extreme attaches to one of our speakers on our pond dock ~400 feet away.
Pros: Portability, ease of control with AirTunes, flexibility in speaker arrangement due to lack of wires, sound volume and quality
Cons: Was not able to Extend the AirPort network and use AirTunes without frequent audio drops. Works best as joining the network, but I had hoped to extend the network.
I ordered this speaker as an alternative to installing a fixed outdoor speaker and it worked out very good. It was a short time to set up to work with my home network and interfacing with my laptop and iPhone. No problems so far it's been two weeks. I would recommend this speaker as a good buy.
Pros: Wireless easy to set up.
Cons: A little heavy and the added purchase of the apple airport device.
Great sounding (one enclosure but good simulated stereo from twin tweeters) and well constructed speaker. Unbelievable value at the price. Add refurb Airport Express and you have Airplay by the pool. I listen to my music all the time when swimming now. Really fast delivery, too. Typical great Crutchfield service.
Pros: Price, sound, ease of set up via Airport Utility.
Cons: None, so far
The AirGo speaker system is fantastic. For a wireless sound system outside on your deck or patio it is perfect. The surprising thing is that you can do this with two systems at the same time. I bought two AirGo Speaker units and two Apple Airport Express units (one for each speaker unit) and got them to play from iTunes on our PC simultaneously! The sound is incredible and it is very easy to use!
Pros: Wireless and portable... just plug it in the wall. Great sound... You can use more than one at the same time!
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing... nothing negative about them.
I really liked the design of this product in that it used an Apple AirPort Express as its connection. That made it very simple to add to the network and have it appear on my iPad and iPhone as an AirPlay speakers. Being able to manage the speaker using Apple's AirPort Utility is a definite plus too. The instructions were clear and it took minimal time to get the speaker set up and playing. The sound is great for a portable outdoor speaker system. I haven't had any problems playng music, videos and third-party apps (Pandora, TuneIn Radio, etc.) and routing the audio to the AirGo. It is pretty loud although you won't want to play it at full blast, but you probably won't need to anyway. It is definitely a little on the heavy side but I am impressed at the construction quality. And given the price at Crutchfield and their service, I think it is a great deal for portable sound around the house and yard. Especially if you have a spare AirPort Express sitting around your house which I was fortunate enough to have in my case.
Pros: Easy setup and instructions, solid construction, thoughtful packaging, pretty good sound
Cons: It would be nice to have a network activity light on the front, but considering the design it is understandable. However, the light on the back is very visible when you look.
I must admit I was pessimistic about this speaker but decided to "buy it and try it" based on user reviews on a number of different web sites. Boy, am I glad I did! The set up is about a simple as it gets; install the airport express into the back of the speaker, turn the speaker on, let airport express register itself on the network (assuming you'd already gone through the airport set up), select the AirGo speaker in iTunes or your iPhone or iPad, and sit back and enjoy the rich, full sounds. I don't think you could make this any simpler! The sound is incredible!
Pros: As a self confessed audiophile, I was blown away by the sound from this portable, outdoor speaker. I can't imagine there being a rival and certainly not with the ability to pair it with an Airport Express for such an elegant solution. I was so impressed I bought another one to extend the sound outside even further. Because of their portability I don't leave the speakers outside as I don't want any "nasties" building their nests in them as was the case with my old permanently installed speakers.
Cons: Okay, so the downside to these speakers is the high cost. On many web sites you often see the faceplate cost of mid-$300's, which was too much to me. However, if you shop around like I did you can find them a lot cheaper from reputable dealers such as Crutchfield, which is what I did. At this price I'd rate them as an excellent buy.
I was blown away the first time when I saw, then heard, my friend's AirGo. It is a real solid outdoor product. I was "sold" when after a heavy rain storm he had left it outdoors, and it worked perfectly. I guess that's what it's supposed to do, but I never quite trusted these outdoor products. Now I'm a believer at least in this one. It is a little heavy, but then again I guess that's because it's designed to be left outdoors. At this price plus the Airport Express, that's about $500 - I know my friend's sounded like it was well worth the price. Sort of like an outdoor waveradio that actually has some bass, and works with the Apple iphone and ipad. Only confusion was I thought the company name was AirGo, but when ordering mine I learned it is Russound. My dad has some stuff from them years back. AudioRocks!
Pros: Great sound, works outdoors and in the rain, portable, works perfectly with my iPhone and iPad.
Cons: I wish I had it this summer...

Works well when it works. Almost every time I use it I need to resync the device to the speaker [ Alvis Feb 08, 2016 ]
Great weather resistance, portability, and value. [ Chris Jan 01, 2016 ]
We have a pool and wanted a loud and waterproof speaker. This did both. [ Craig Dec 12, 2015 ]
The AirGo has no auxiliary audio input. It's purely designed to work as an AirPlay receiver, via the separately-purchased-but-required AirPort Express providing the wireless connectivity. Note that you mention Bluetooth, but this doesn't apply: Your iPod Classic doesn't support Bluetooth, nor does the AirGo. I'd argue you'd be better off with any of the myriad of portable speakers which are available now (e.g. Beats, JBL, Ultimate Ears, etc.). Most of these are Bluetooth-basesd, but also provide an auxiliary input for connecting non-wireless devices. That way, you'd have a wireless speaker for compatible devices, and still be able to use it as a "wired" speaker for output from your iPod Classic or similar. [ BRIAN Dec 27, 2015 ]
The plate on the back comes off and it should let you plug in your iPod directly [ Craig Dec 26, 2015 ]
Yes you can use an iPod but then you will loose the ability to use it wireless since the iPod can't do Bluetooth or AirPlay. You will have to use a 3.5mm audio cable which defeat the purpose of the name airgo. I use mine with an airport express and use AirPlay for my music. Just take your music in your iPod and transfer to your iPhone or droid phone and problem solved. Hope this helped you. [ Anthony Dec 26, 2015 ]
I don't see how you can do that unless you're talking about "Apple TV". This only works by connecting a "Apple Airport Express". You would then play your Apple device via "Air Play". I don't think I've ever seen TVs or receivers that broadcast Air Play audio. There are plenty of receivers that connect via Air Play from an Apple device to play the audio by not broadcast AirPlay signal from your TV to an Air Play speaker like these. [ DAMON Apr 10, 2015 ]
Not easily. This is designed to be an Airplay device when used with an Apple Airport Express old model. More for whole house music use. [ BEE NEWS PUBLIS Apr 10, 2015 ]
Yes you can plug it in or "Hard" wire it if you cut the cord. The plug is not removable so if you hardwired it you would have a hard time moving it in in the winter (assuming you live in an area you need to). It is definitely weather proof and I leave it out for most of the summer but I would recommend still plugging it into an outdoor outlet as it does get dirty since there are a lot of crevices. I do bring it in a few times a year to clean it up. For the price the unit sounds great - You will be happy with the purchase. I have a 2 acre plot and have two of these and it definitely covers the backyard for casual listening. [ VICTOR J Mar 07, 2015 ]
As long as you were to hardwire it into an outdoor sealed junction box, there should be no issues! You shouldn't need any special adapters. Just cut the stock power cord to required length,(remember measure twice, cut once) and connect to perm power supply. Also make sure not to mount the speaker to far away from your router that is transmitting your music, so as to maintain a strong, consistent signal. Lastly, enjoy your music! I've got mine on my back deck, and it's got more than enough volume for my .3 AC backyard. [ NATHAN Mar 07, 2015 ]
I doubt it, it's a large, heavy unit. It's not like a Sonos speaker. It's roughly 11" x 12" by 13" (eye measurement). You could probably mount it but I imagine it would take something fairly industrial and I don't think it would look right as it has a large flat base and the speaker can be directed. However it does look good enough sitting in a corner! [ CHARLES Mar 07, 2015 ]
Neat is always good. So, I see no problem with the direction you asked about. I prefer sound without an obvious source. I have had my AirPort in two locations, both enclosed so the AirPort is hidden--your choice. Try what you want and adjust... The best! James [ James Mar 07, 2015 ]
Hi! We have ours out by our pool, too. However, we just store it in a deck box, when we aren't using it. Eventually, we will invest in a better sound system out there. But for now, it works. I really don't think there is a way to mount it, and have it look nice. [ ELIZABETH Mar 07, 2015 ]
I have one out by my pool, plugged into a power circuit out there and standing on a shelf. Can also be wall mounted by base screw holes I think but that would limit where it can point... [ BEE NEWS PUBLIS Mar 07, 2015 ]
I own the speaker, but can't answer it since I live in San Antonio. It can take quite a bit of heat out by the pool in the summer. However, just from basic electronics I would say it could take below freezing. There is nothing mecanical about it. The plastic housing should be as durable as any other plastic in cold weather. I wouldn't bang on it or anything, but be normal use should be fine. Not sure of your intended purpose, but I wouldn't leave it outdoors all the time in the cold. [ LOWELL Oct 20, 2014 ]
We kept our speaker in the garage last winter. We live in the mid-west and temperatures got down to -20 (as actual temp). It still works very well. Now, we didn't use it outside during those temps. but it was stored in the cold temperatures without a problem. [ STEPHANIE Oct 20, 2014 ]
Mine's seen 30 ish for a few nights. Not too cold here in TX [ BEE NEWS PUBLIS Oct 20, 2014 ]
I don't think you can stream directly from the Roku to the AirGo. The Roku doesn't transmit over Bluetooth or AirPlay, it just has outputs to a TV or home theater receiver. If you already have the Roku hooked up to a home theater receiver, you might be able to find a Bluetooth adapter that can transmit output from the receiver to the AirGo. Failing that, I'd recommend just taking the Roku out of the equation and stream from a smartphone or tablet instead. [ ANDY Jul 07, 2014 ]
I am not that familiar with the roku 3 to be able to answer for sure, but doubt the the Russound AirGo is your answer. The AirGo works using Apple AirPlay or via Bluetooth if you have the Bluetooth adaptor. If roku 3 has bluetooth capabilities it would probably work, but I don't think it does. [ DOUGLAS J Jul 04, 2014 ]
I have one on the only device that works inside it is the first Apple Airplay. The space and wires are custom made for only one model of Airplay. Other than that, the sound quality is really good. [ LOWELL Jul 04, 2014 ]
Each speaker is stereo to begin with however you can configure it as another source speaker in Airplay. This would allow you to have two (or more) speakers playing at the same time for great coverage. Do it all the time throughout my house and backyard and it works great, Keep in mind that currently you can only Airplay to multiple sources from a mac (or itunes on a PC). You can only Airplay to one speaker source from an iphone or ipad. This may change with the next release coming shortly but is a limitation today. Thanks ! Vic [ VICTOR J Jun 01, 2014 ]
Absolutely Yes over AirPlay, but it can only be done through iTunes itself and then selecting the multiple speakers. I assume you can select more than two speakers, but I only tried it with the two AirGos I own. I have this option on iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but am not 100% certain the same option exists for iTunes on Windows. You cannot select multiple speakers from your iPhone, only through iTunes on your computer. [ DOUGLAS J Jun 01, 2014 ]
Yes, you will just need another airport express set up in your wifi network. The only drawback is you'll have to stream music from a device that allows multiple outputs, ie, iTunes from your computer. I'm not sure if there's a way to stream to more than one output from your iPhone or iPad. Hope this helps. [ TOM May 31, 2014 ]
I would have to say not in my opinion! I think it was designed as a stand alone portable speaker! Basically designed for no wiring necessary sound! But I have been more than happy with the performance of this speaker in that capacity! [ PAUL May 31, 2014 ]
You can run two at the same time from a Mac using multi speaker from iTunes (watch out for timing differences) but not from an iOS device - you could hook two from one airport express with some wiring changes and cuts in the cases. [ BEE NEWS PUBLIS May 31, 2014 ]
I don't see how that would work. This speaker as an older model airport express plugged in to it, there are no spare slots. You use Airplay from your device, so as far as I am aware you couldn't run two simultaneously. It's pretty loud and a good quality sound for the lower price, I rarely have the volume at max in my large garden. [ CHARLES May 31, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: This product will work for you down at the dock. It uses Bluetooth via Russound's BT-AGO1 Bluetooth Adapter which we are including for free. It allows you to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or laptop. It does require you to plug into a AC power outlet for power. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Apr 28, 2014 ] Staff
