Q
I'm trying to figure out how to insert the wires into this device? What is the trick to opening each little "door" where the wire is inserted?

Greetings Bridget. Thanks for your question. Each wire is held in by set screw. Loosen the set screw, you should be able to then insert the speaker wire, then tighten the screw. If you need more assistance you can contact technical support. If you purchased this from Crutchfield, there will be a direct tech support number on your shipping confirmation email. If you purchased it elsewhere, you can always contact Russound at 603-659-5170.

I had eight separate stations with two speakers each. They could all run at the same time. Each station had its own wall volume control

Hi Tom, i've got this block set up for a second zone throughout my house. The zone has 9 speakers connected to it. The 9 are split into pairs per room and one single in the bathroom. Each pair is on its own volume control switch. Hope this answers your question. Thx, JB

Q
Can I used this with Sonos Amp?
jay  Apr 29, 2021
1 answer
A
Yes, I used the EZB-8 with a Sonos amp for my outdoor speakers. If you're wiring more than two pairs of speakers to a Sonos amp, you'll need an impedance matching unit either in the form of a module or speaker volume controls with impedance matching built in. This is to prevent low impedance on the amp and not overheat and/ or shut down.

Can i connect 8 4 ohms x 400 watts midrange speaker to 3200 watts amplifier?

As per the specs.... Powerful audio handling: Rated for receivers/amplifiers of up to 150 watts RMS per channel (suitable for use with receivers/amplifiers rated at 300 watts per channel) Easy expandability: Rated for 126 watts peak with a continuous rating of 42 watts RMS, to handle almost all of your volume control installation needs Generous 48dB of attenuation Allowing for up to 8 pairs of speakers to connect easily adding pairs up to 8 at any time, and by adding a second EZB-8 when more than 8 pairs are needed

I would say no, as the block is rated for a max of 1,200 W (150 x 8). You will likely need a block with screw terminals instead of quick-connect terminals. EZB-8 E-Z Connector Speaker Terminal Block Category: Volume Control Accessories The EZB-8 is an important accessory for all professional installers to use whenever running multiple volume controls from a single amplifier. When combined with impedance magnifying volume controls, the system wiring can be greatly simplified, making an installation more reliable, better looking, and easier to service and maintain in the future. The high quality components used, combined with the generous power handling of up to 150 watts RMS per channel, and the confidence-boosting 10-year warranty make a powerful combination at a very reasonable price to add to any install.

Q
Can I use this to extend speaker wires? I want to hide my speaker wire but some of the speaker wires are too short to allow that. Rather than cutting and running new, longer wires from the receiver to the speakers, can I run the current wires to this unit and then run additional wire that is long enough to hide from this unit to the receiver. I don't want I noticeable drop in sound quality.

This connecting block has as it's input one set of speaker wires, and as it's output up to eight sets of speaker wires. If all of your speakers are connected to the same channel on the receiver, then this should work. If the speakers are connected to more than one channel on the receiver, then you might look for another alternative.
wayne  Jun 05, 2020
A
I don't see why not. You would only use one output.

Sorry I can't be much help as I'm yet to use. My office has nine speakers and I want to funnel them into this unit and pair them into a couple of channels of the receiver. I wouldn't think there is a noticeable drop in sound quality as this is a simple connection but can't promise that for sure. I'd give it a try! Good luck.
larry w  Jun 04, 2020
A
Yes you can. I had a similar situation that I moved my amplifier further away so I installed the Russound block there and ran new speaker wires to the new location of my amplifier.

Q
I have 19 pair of spkrs to hook up. Can the EZB-8 blocks be connected together to allow more connections like the older EZB-1sc and EZB-2sc blocks?
david  Jan 13, 2017
1 answer
A
Yes the EZB-8 will give you the ability to add up to 8 speakers x's 2 (pairs) to each zone or channel of your sound system... One warning is to make sure that your "Input" connection wire from your amp is of a substantial gauge enough to disburse the discharge load to all your pairs of speakers. Remember each EZB card disburses only one channel to your speakers at a time.

Q
Would this work in a 70V commercial system?
jeff  Apr 24, 2015
2 answers
A
Should work just fine in a 70 volt system. It is just a connecting block, no impedance matching. So if your wires are homer in then you could use this to connect them.
robert  Apr 27, 2015
A
It should, all it is is a connecting block that allows you to take one set of signals and split it for up to 8 speaker pairs. There are not any electronics involved that I am aware of.
terry  Apr 26, 2015
Q
Are the volume controls required or can the speakers be wired directly to the connecting block and just use the volume control on the amp?
ronald  Feb 03, 2015
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: You should not use this without something to perform the impedance matching that those volume controls will do. If you didn't use them, then you run an extremely high risk of presenting an impedance to the amp that it cannot support. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
