This wall plate from Russound offers connections for up to seven surround sound speakers and two powered subwoofers. It lets you hide your receiver in an adjacent room and run speaker cables into your home theater — a great option for folks who want a clean, professional-looking installation. Or, install one of these outlets directly behind your receiver, then run your speaker and subwoofer cables inside your walls to each speaker location.

Note: The wall plate's powered subwoofer inputs use RCA female connectors on the front and coaxial F-type female connectors on the back to allow for in-wall RG-6 coaxial cable.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This wallplate is great! Now I can easily connect and disconnect my home theater easily and with no clutter. I resommend this wallplate becuase it minimizes the wall space needed to connect your audio/home theater system to in-wall cabling and it is easy to install and connect and disconnect the system, while offered at a very competitive price as compaired to similar wallplates. The big advanatge of this wallplate is that it has connectiond for all 7 speakers needed for a 7 channel home theater plus 2 subwoofers in a very compact wallplate.

Pros: Easy to install and connect/disconnect home theater. Competitive price. Compact.

Product Research

Overview: The Russound HTP-2 double gang wall plate allows you to connect your home theater amplifier's speaker outputs to in-wall, pre-wired speakers through your home. The HTP-2 wall plate features 7 pairs of gold plated 5-way binding posts that can accept up to 12 gauge speaker wire, pin connectors, spade lugs, single banana plugs, or dual banana plugs. There are also line-level connections for two powered subwoofers.

Note: The spacing between the binding posts is narrow, so pin connectors and spade lugs are not recommended. The subwoofer connectors are RCA on the front and F-connectors on the back.

Applications: The HTP-2 is compatible with a 5.1-, 6.1- or 7.1-channel surround speaker system.

Mounting: The HTP-2 requires a 2-gang electrical box for installation. The wall plate comes supplied with four white mounting screws.

Binding Posts: The binding posts have 7/16" hex nuts for easy and secure connections. The posts have lock nuts to prevent them from turning as you tighten the binding posts onto the wire. Each pair of binding posts are color-coded red for the positive and black for the negative speaker connections.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

You always have time to put the wall plate on. Look at the back of your tuner. My Devon 7.1 has all the speakers (not the sub woofer) connected by red/black wire with pressure screw knobs., not plugs. I am a little unsure of how the in wall speaker cable connects to the Sunfire subwoofer. I put two in wall lines for woofer to have two options for placement. Another question to ask yourself is if you want two channels to a set of speakers elsewhere (Like outside or another place in the house) Of do you want to run double speaker lines to your left and right front tweeters? My front tweeters have double connections. Instead I ran very inexpensive speaker wire to the screen porch on the other side of the house. Hope that helps. Make sure all your speaker wires are marked. [ Thomas  Oct 27, 2015 ]
Use the wall plate. It will be much easier to connect and reconnect when you have to move or clean the equipment, and the plates present a much better appearance. I seriously doubt that you will experience any sound degradation, especially if the wire is the same gauge on each side of the plate. I hope this helps! - Tom [ Thomas  Oct 27, 2015 ]
I installed the wall plate and cannot detect any decrease in the quality of the sound. I used CL2 12 gauge wire and gold-plated banana jacks. One caution, the plate receptacles to not have enough depth to fully insert the banana jacks from both sides. I had to partially insert from both sides; however, after almost a year, I have not had any problems with the banana jacks coming loose. [ Thomas  Oct 26, 2015 ]
I am remodeling my basement family room which means I gutted everything and started with the poured (brick), foundation. I re-studded the walls and have done all the electrical, including the recessed lighting. Before insulating and dry walling I wanted to hide all of the surround sound system wires in the walls and actually "test run" the sound system and video before covering everything up. I used the wall plate and painstaking used the banana connectors for my 14 gauge in wall speaker wire. Looks great and no compromise in sound quality with extra connections. You won't be sorry you opted for the wall plate. I did wall plates for my HDMI connections too. [ Brad  Oct 26, 2015 ]
The less connections you have the better , I used a two gang cut in box and drilled a plastic blank to pass wires to amp , looks good without more resistance in the speaker run . [ ERIC  Oct 26, 2015 ]
