Features

Overview: The Russound SDB Dual Source Speaker Selector is a high-power, dual-source, autoformer-based speaker selector with individual volume controls for 6 rooms or areas. Dual-source operation allows you to choose either one or two different amplifiers or receivers to power selected speakers independently. Each room has its own input selector (A-B), volume control, and on/off switch, located on the front of the unit. The unit works with all speakers rated from 4-8 ohms and amplifiers rated for 4-8 ohms.

Controls: The SDB-6.1 has the following front panel controls:

  • Volume Control: six rotary volume controls, each with a 12-step adjustment.
  • On/Off Switch: six 2-position push button switches (Out=Off, In=On)
  • Amplifier Selector: six 2-position push button switches (Out=Amp A, In=Amp B)

Removable Speaker Terminals: There are six removable 4-pole speaker output terminal blocks and two removable 4-pole speaker input terminal blocks, each of which can accept up to 12-gauge wire. The terminals can support multiple speaker pairs wired in parallel or series, provided their combined impedance is a minimum of 4 ohms. A small slotted screwdriver is required for attaching the terminals to your speaker wires.

Impedance Setting: The impedance of the autoformers is set at the factory at 8x. A chart in the Installation Manual can help you determine the proper impedance setting for the number and impedance of your speakers. If certain applications require changing the impedance setting, the cover can be removed to access the jumpers inside.

Labels: There are 52 pre-printed and 8 blank label stickers included for easy identification of the front panel controls.

Q
could i use this with the yamaha R-N602 and actually use 6pair of speakers?

A
Technically, yes it can be used with that Yamaha receiver, but with a shortened life on the Yamaha for most listener's. I recommend consulting an advisor by using our online chat or calling 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on a way to run your 6 pairs of speakers for your listening goals My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
What's the ideal Receiver power output? I want to make sure we supply as much power as possible to each of the rooms without overloading the system.
brandon  Apr 07, 2017

A
The Russound SDB-6.1 is rated to handle up to 150 watts per channel RMS from a connected amplifier/receiver; but the "ideal" power for your setup will also depend on your speakers and their power requirements. If you would like to discuss in further detail, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
i'm really needing a 9 pair selector, as I have 18 ceiling speakers throughtout my house. Would it be better to purchase a 10 pair selector, or get a 6 pair and a 4 pair and have two devises? Would I be able to connect both to a reciever. Please help. Trying to figure all this out!

I actually had 14 speakers and i just paired 3 speakers rather than 2 speakers on two of the six jacks. Works fine. I can not tell the difference between them and the others which have 2 speakers per jack. But to answe your question i would not get two different speaker selectors. I would get the 10 pair and if you didnt want to do that i would get a 6 pair and just put 3 speakera on each jack. I hope this makes sense.

Q
How does the amount of watts work with these speaker selectors? If I have a 100 Watt RMS 2 channel driving 3 pairs of speakers, are the Watts divided?
alejandro  Jun 30, 2015
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: It will divide the 100 watts to the 6 speakers. You wouldn't be receiver 100 watts to each of the speakers. The speakers would be getting around 15-20 watts. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
