Features

Overview: The Russound SS-6.2 Speaker Selector allows you to switch up to six speaker pairs connected to a stereo amplifier. Each pair of speakers can be turned on or off through individual front panel switches. It provides switchable built-in impedance matching, or can be used with impedance matching volume control. The SS-6.2 is designed for use with 8-ohm loudspeakers.

Impedance Matching Protection: When used with multiple speaker pairs, the impedance matching circuitry lets you operate the system safely with automatic overload protection. When connecting more than one pair of 8 ohm speakers to the speaker selector, the rear panel impedance switch should be placed in the "In" position. If using impedance matching volume controls (such as ALTx-2 or LPTx-2), the switch should be in the "Bypass" position.

Amplifier Requirements: When using internal impedance matching (switch set to "In") a 4-ohm stable amplifier is required. When using external impedance matching volume controls (switch set to "Bypass"), a 4 to 8 ohm stable amplifier may be used. You should use only the Amplifier "A" speaker outputs when the SS-6.2 is used. "B" speaker outputs should not be used.

Connections: The SS-6.2 features spring clip speaker terminals that can accommodate up to 12-gauge wire. For most applications, stranded 16-gauge speaker wire is recommended. For runs of over 100 feet, 14-gauge is recommended, while 12-gauge can be used for runs of up to 200 feet.

Performance: The speaker selector is designed for use with amplifiers with a power output of up to 100 watts per channel RMS (200 watts per channel peak. The frequency response is 20Hz to 20kHz (+/- 0dB).

Room Labels: The SS-6.2 comes with a sheet of non-adhesive room labels which slide into a groove in the front panel. A total of 52 labels and 8 blanks are included.

If l have 100 watt volume control switchs in the wall , does it matter if the selector switch has volume controls ?

No need for volume controls on unit if you have controls in the wall switches.

can an Audio Source AMP310VS be use with this speaker selector switch in bridge mode (450 watts a channel at 8 ohms) without issues ? Powering 5 rooms of audio with one master volume from a Yamaha wxc-50.

I am not the expert on this. I have this switch set up to run speakers inside and outside an event center we operate using one Amp with one master volume control. Based on that I would say yes, it would work for your application.

While you can bridge the AudioSource AMP310, you'll only have a single (mono) channel when you do. Regardless, the Russound SS 6.2 is only rated to handle up to 70 watts RMS per channel so, it would not be compatible with the wattage from the amp (bridged mono or in stereo mode). Q
I have a Yamaha XR-A760 and I want to room a 6 room selecter from ch 2. Will this Russound SS-6.2 work? Will I need more power than the 2nd channel has?

Tom B., I have the Russound SS-6.2 plugged in to channel 2 of an older Yamaha receiver than yours, and the receiver powers 6 sets of speakers (right and left) with no issues. I can watch football from the pool, or listen to music in any bedroom, or do both at the same time. This product works great with no additional power. (no amplifier). I hope this helps. Tommy A.

Yes almost definitely unless you are using very sensitive speakers in all applications i.e. high db rating (100 plus) for each room and even then you wouldn't be playing anything loud at all. You would need a 1060 but even still probably much higher watts per channel to even consider that in my opinion. I have it in a 7.2 setup only and still needs 65 to 70% of the 760s power for a truely immense movie or music experience with 98db sensitivy speakers. The higger the sensitivy of the speakers the less power you need to accomplish the same volume. The Yamaha is efficient but splitting that 6 ways then divided by 2 (so 12 ways (2 speakers per room) thats little to no power per room. I have also setup a whole home 5 room setup years ago with a high end denon receiver again many many years ago and that was just enough for all 5 rooms when all rooms where on and that was 165w per channel. Good luck though....hope that info helps.

I am building a new home. I want to have 4-6 channels. What else would I need with this product to be able to connect my speakers? Also, is this wi-fi capable?

I can only describle how I used this product. I have a SONOS CONNECT:AMP Wireless Amplifier connected to my 6 channel Russound speaker switch. This provides music to any of my five wired rooms. Selection is via iPad or iPhone. Any music on these devices or any of my music services like Spotify can be a source. Single or multiple rooms can be connected. System works perfectly.

You would need an amp. It is not wifi capable.... But you could connect a Sonos amp to it

Hi Derek. Think of the Russound simply as a switch between your AV Receiver or Amp and your speakers. I have 6 sets of speakers in a house already wired in addition to a 7.2 in my living room as the main surround system Each of my rooms is wired for internet as well as cabled for speakers. Each room (set of speakers) also has it's own impedence adjusting volume switch. I would do it again, because I just don't feel wireless speakers are at the same level yet. I bought the Roussound for three reasons. 1. It acts as an additional on/off switch from the AV Receiver center at a reasonable price. It is essentially the on/off for all of my Zone 2 2 Running all 6 sets at once can be done through my Zone 2 ...but is a drain on the receiver 3. I trust the simple on/off of the Russound more than I do each rooms volume control switch, which is one of those sliding bars. I.e....is it really off or still piping very low volume? I also have a very large living room/play room/kitchen under a 20;' ceiling. So, I can add to the surround sound in the living room if I want by switching on up to 2 sets of speakers to accompany the surround in the main living room. Crazy...but if your a football nut or party nut, you can saturate the large area. The Russound has nothing to do with Wi-fi.... that is coming through your AV Receiver which is fed directly by a cable company ethernet connection or Wifi from a router.. I have my internet provider feeding my receiver direct. In addition, the cable TV provider feeds the receiver. FYI... I had a lot of issues setting up my receiver initially as it did not have very clear instructions. However, Crutchfield has proven to be some of the most helpful tech people I've run into in any industry. I'm a happy camper now and they are my #1 go to for future stereo/tv shopping. Hope this helps.

It is not wifi capable. This is in my office. 1,400 sq ft. And speakers are simple and not stereo. In my home I have longer runs to better stereo speakers . I use a much more expensive speaker selector that has power to boost the signal. I forget the cost . I hope this helps

You will need speaker wire, and the Russound SS-6.2 will be plugged into either channel A or B of your receiver. The Russound is not wi-fi capabable, but the receiver that you plug into should be a wifi capable receiver. I have six pairs of speakers plugged in to the Russound, and they all work great.

I don't know your model. I have a denon that has three zones. So I have a second zone that goes to the exercise room.

Depends on the model. Some allow you to run aux speakers. Regardless, If it has preouts I would get a low cost amp (such as from Emotiva, Mini) and run the speakers off of that. This allows you to control the volume independently and still keep your 7.1; use your L/R preouts.
