As flat-panel TVs have gotten thinner, so has the sound coming from their built-in speakers. In fact, they often sound just downright anemic. If this bugs you as much as it does us, here's an easy way to bypass those dull on-board speakers and upgrade your sound: Russound's TVA2.1 television amplifier.

Mounted discreetly behind your TV, this compact stereo amp delivers 30 watts per channel. It will easily power a pair of bookshelf or in-wall speakers for richer, fuller sound with your movies and TV shows. Versatile analog and digital audio inputs provide compatibility with almost any television. And if you're looking for even more impact, the TVA2.1's subwoofer output lets you add an optional powered sub for deep, room-shaking bass.

To help minimize coffee table clutter, Russound also included IR learning capability that allows your TV or cable box's remote to seamlessly control the amp's volume.

A
Yes. Plug the IR extender into the port labelled IR.
ruby  Jan 18, 2018

Sorry, but I do not know. We use the IR sensor that came with the amp, and it works well. It is line of sight so that may or may not be a problem depending on where you want to use it Hope this helps.
michael  Jan 18, 2018
A
I think you could splice in a longer wire. I would also check the manufacturer web site for options.
michael  Jan 18, 2018
A
Yes. The sensor is attached to a ~6 foot cable. So basically you can place the sensor about 6 feet from the unit.

Q
Are the drilled outlets on the side brackets universal mounts for the back of the TV?
james  Sep 26, 2016

A
The Russound owner's manual states "the mounting wings on the sides of the TVA2.1 amplifier can be used for mounting to the rear of a TV using any 3rd party VESA type mounting panel, or simply by attaching it to a TV mount." For more information or to discuss the mounting options in greater detail, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I hope that helps!
