About the Russound X125
Today's networked audio players, music streaming services, and remote control apps for smartphones and tablets have radically changed the way we experience music at home. You still need good clean power to drive your speakers, but you probably don't need a traditional receiver with a lot of buttons to push. Maybe all you really need is a smartly automated amp like the Russound X125.
Connect one music component as your primary source, and it will activate the amplifier when it sends out an audio signal. The amplifier returns to standby mode when the audio signal ceases. Your secondary audio source takes over automatically when there's no signal coming from the primary source. There's no need to manually switch inputs.
Say you have a network audio player, such as a Sonos ZonePlayer 90 connected to the primary input. Any time you fire up the ZonePlayer, your X125 turns itself on and feeds the music to your speakers. Because the X125 has two sets of speaker outputs, you could be listening in the den, the kitchen or wherever you chose to install your speakers. Because you control the ZonePlayer with a wireless controller or smartphone app, it doesn't matter where you put it. The ZonePlayer and the X125 could be out of sight in a utility closet or cabinet.
You might connect an old-school music source like a CD player to the secondary input, and enjoy it whenever you're not using your ZonePlayer. When a CD stops playing, the X125 will automatically switch to standby mode.

Features
Overview: The Russound X125 is a dual source 2-channel power amplifier. The X125 features volume and balance controls, as well as A/B speaker switching on the front panel.
Power Output: The X125 is a Class D amplifier rated at 125 watts per channel into 4 ohms, and 80 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Both amplifier channels can be bridged for a higher power mono output of 250 watts into a single 8 ohm load (The Stereo/Bridge switch on the back panel should be in the Bridge Mono position when bridging.)
Signal Sensing Inputs: The X125 can be turned on manually or automatically by setting a switch on the rear panel. For manual power, the front panel power switch turns the unit on or off. When set to automatic, the unit will power on when music is sensed on either RCA input connector. Once the signal is no longer detected, the unit will automatically shut off. The signal sensing feature also allows you to switch from one input source to another by turning one of the connected components on or off. Signal sensing inputs allow the amplifier to easily integrate with multi-room audio systems and home theater components.
Line Level Output: In addition to the line level inputs, the X125 has a stereo RCA line level output. This output allows you to send the audio of the selected source to another amplifier.
Speaker Level Signal Inputs: If you have a source that is only available as a speaker level signal, you can connect it to the amplifier via the spring clip input terminals on the back panel. Only one set of speaker level inputs can be utilized and assigned by the selector switch. You can set the speaker level input as the primary or secondary signal.
12V Trigger: On the back panel, there two 3.5mm minijacks for a 12-volt trigger input and a 12-volt (100mA) trigger output. These allow the amplifier to be activated by, or to activate, other devices with a mini-plug cable. The trigger delay can be set between 3 and 15 seconds.
Thermal Protection: The amplifier is designed with a special circuitry that protects the unit under a thermal overload condition. Thermal protection mode will only engage when the unit has been run at high volume for extended periods without adequate ventilation and/or when speaker impedances are below the minimum levels. For proper ventilation, it is recommended that the amp have a minimum of 2" of clearance around each side of the unit.
Short Circuit Protection: In addition to thermal protection, the X125 also has special circuitry to protect the amplifier from short-circuit conditions. This can be caused by a faulty speaker or when speaker wires come in contact with each other. When this condition occurs, the amplifier will shut down until the short circuit is corrected.
