We've been recommending Russound's traditional multi-room audio products to our customers for years. Now, they've created a wireless audio system that lets you broadcast music from a central location without running wires. This kit includes a transmitter and two receivers for a robust wireless connection between your sources in one room, and existing amplifiers in two others parts of the house.

A variety of music input options...

The X1-TX8 transmitter features four stereo RCA line-level inputs. Connect your CD player, network music player, or any other analog source. The fourth of these RCA inputs can be A/B switched with the optical digital input for connecting digital sources like a digital media streaming box or a television. The 100-foot broadcast range will give you wide coverage throughout your home.

...with a host of output possibilities

The X1-RX2 receivers offer an RCA stereo output for connection to your A/V receiver, integrated amplifier, or powered speakers. There's also an optical digital output for connection to your DAC or digital-ready amp.

Add the optional Russound X1-RX220 wireless amplifier to power a pair of speakers directly. You can expand your system to use as many Russound wireless X1 receivers as you'd like.

Clear transmission around your home

The X1 Kit 2 operates on multiple wireless bands for noise-free performance. It doesn't require a connection to your Wi-Fi® home network and can switch between bands automatically to limit interference from other wireless activity. The receiver's front-panel buttons let you set the wireless frequency and toggle between the audio sources connected to the transmitter.

X1 Wireless System

Overview: The Russound X1 Custom Wireless Audio platform is a multi-purpose problem solver. It can be used for distributing audio wirelessly throughout your home. This Russound Wireless Point-to-Point Kit (Kit 2) includes the X1-TX8 Wireless Audio Transmitter, and two X1-RX2 Wireless Audio Receivers. The kit can be used to add a powered subwoofer anywhere in the room (without a long audio cable). You can also use it to send a wireless signal to an amplifier in another room. The optional X1-RX220 Wireless Receiver/Amplifier (sold separately) is also compatible with the X1 wireless system.

Triple Wireless Bands: Russound's X1 professional wireless audio system operates over three bands - 2.4GHz, 5.2GHz and 5.8GHz - featuring Channel Hopping mode or Fixed Channel mode. The Channel Hopping mode will combat crowded spaces by searching for the cleanest channel within the band. Although the X1 wireless system uses bands that are in the Wi-Fi spectrum, the proprietary digital signal transmitted is not used in the Wi-Fi system. This provides a more reliable connection with very low latency between the original source signal and the output receiver, eliminating any echo effect.

Note: The 2.4GHz operates better through walls than the higher frequency. However, this band is widely used in many systems including Wi-Fi. If the band is crowded, interference may occur. The 5.2GHz and 5.8GHz bands do not go through walls at the same distance as the lower bands. However, they will have less interference.

Metal Chassis: Each component is housed in a metal enclosure that provides increased EMI resistance and better wireless performance. For best performance, locate the transmitter and receivers in locations that are not surrounded by other metal or other equipment that may interfere with transmission.

AC Power Adapter: The Russound X1 wireless components operate on standard household current using the external AC power adapter supplied with each unit.

Dimensions: The dimensions of all of the X1 components are 5.1875"W x 1.3125"H x 4.9375"D.

TX8 Features

Multi-channel Wireless Transmitter: The Russound X1-TX8 is a four zone wireless audio transmitter. With one transmitter, you can send audio to an unlimited number of receivers (X1-RX2 or X1-RX220), providing plenty of opportunity to expand your system.

Audio Inputs: The X1-TX8 features four stereo inputs for connecting your home audio components. There are three stereo RCA analog inputs, and another input that is switchable between analog RCA (Line In) and optical digital.

Adjustable Diversity Antennas: The X1-TX8 features two adjustable diversity antennas to optimize performance. These external antennas are used to increase the signal range. The two antennas should be in vertical and parallel position for maximum performance.

Transmitting Bands: The X1-TX8 can transmit on the 2.4GHz, 5.2GHz, and 5.8GHz bands, with each band having three channels each:

  • 2.4 GHz Band: Channel 1 (2.41 GHz), Channel 2 (2.438 GHz), Channel 3 (2.464 GHz)
  • 5.2 GHz Band: Channel 4 (4.18 GHz), Channel 5 (5.210 GHz), Channel 6 (5.240 GHz)
  • 5.8 GHz Band: Channel 7 (5.736 GHz), Channel 8 (5.762 GHz), Channel 9 (5.814 GHz)

Channel ID: The transmitter can operate in a Fixed Channel mode or Channel Hopping mode. In the Fixed Mode, you can manually switch channels by pressing the ID button on the front panel. The Channel Hopping mode will search for the cleanest channels within the band.

RX2 Features

Wireless Receiver: The Russound X1-RX2 wireless receiver is designed for multi-room audio applications, and communicates directly with the X1 transmitter from a distance up to 100'. With both line-level analog and optical digital outputs, the X1-RX2 connects to an external amplifier to deliver high-quality audio without lengthy cable runs; a perfect multi-zone audio solution for retrofit applications.

Analog and Digital Output: The Russound X1-RX2 wireless receiver is fitted with analog Stereo (RCA) output and optical (Toslink) digital output to connect to your home AV receiver's or integrated amplifier's stereo RCA input or optical digital input.

Adjustable Diversity Antennas: The X1-RX2 wireless receiver features two adjustable diversity antennas to optimize performance. These external antennas are used to increase signal range. The two antennas should be in vertical and parallel position for maximum performance.

Mounting Bracket: The X1-RX2 wireless receiver can be placed on any flat surface or securely mounted on the wall with the included mounting bracket. The included versatile mounting bracket makes it easy to install the receiver in out-of-sight locations.

Customer Q&A

4 questions already asked

Q
will this run one powered subwoofer and two unpowered speakers?
glenn  Dec 10, 2016
1 answer
A
You will need amplification for the unpowered speakers. I believe they make a kit with a wireless receiver with an integrated amp, but I elected to hook my wireless receiver up to a dedicated amp, whose specs I liked.
phillip  Dec 12, 2016
Q
Will this system transmit between exterior walls? Distance too outside receiver is about 15ft.
ryan  Sep 27, 2016

A
No problem. I'm transmitting through 3 walls to the receiver in my garage. It's probably 50 feet.
jeffrey  Sep 28, 2016
A
Easily. I send a signal about 40 feet through the exterior wall of our house to a detached garage with steel siding and get a clear signal.
stephen  Sep 27, 2016
A
Yes, the lower frequencies penetrate walls much better than the high frequencies. We used it to go through an 18 inch brick wall about 30 feet away. Paul H Greenville SC
paul  Sep 27, 2016
A
It should. I'm shooting through an interior wall and another 35 feet. I use this for a pair of powered subwoofers. Works perfect.
christopher  Sep 27, 2016
Q
If I use the optical input on the receiver, and my audio stream is encoded in dolby digital or DTS, will this device stream to the recievrs in that same format, or will it just stream stereo, 2 channel pcm audio?
louie  Jul 12, 2016
1 answer
A
Sorry, no. I contacted Russound directly for confirmation; the optical input will only accept and transmit stereo audio (channel PCM) to the receiver(s). I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
I purchased a bluetooth transmitter to play music all through the house. It was transmitting from my receiver to a Bose Soundtouch 130. There was a slight delay in the sound, so I am returning it. Will there be any delay in the sound with this system?
laura  Apr 03, 2016

A
No delay works really well ... using optical from tv then transmitting to reciever works very well.
paul  Apr 05, 2016
A
Am using these to move audio output from my TV/cable box to my amp and sub across the room and haven't noticed any delays at all. Setup was super easy. Only downside is they broadcast in the WIFI band and I've seen some degradation in my WIFI around the txmtr. Other than that I highly recommend.
