About the Universal® MasterControl RF-10
The RF-10 from Universal helps you get control of your audio/video system. It lets you carry out even complex operations with just a few simple commands. With the RF-10 you can string together several commands into a one-button operation known as a "macro." For instance, when you want to play a DVD, a single push of a button turns on the right components, switches inputs on your TV, and starts playback.
A provided tutorial DVD takes you step-by-step through the simple setup process. The remote comes loaded with over 1,000 remote codes from different manufacturers. It's also a "learning" remote, so you can copy commands directly from your old remotes into the RF-10. And don't worry about having to reload all your settings if the batteries die the RF-10 can retain its programming for ten years without power.
The remote transmits regular infrared (IR) commands to your equipment for line-of-sight control. It also transmits powerful radio frequency (RF) signals that pass through walls, floors and cabinets. With the optional MRF100B base station, you can control your components from anywhere within a radius of 50-100 feet.

Product Research
Features
Overview: The RF10 universal and learning remote control is designed to operate up to 8 different audio/video components. The RF10 sends both IR and RF signals, making whole-house operation (indoors and outdoors, through cabinets, walls and doors) possible with the addition of the optional MRF100B RF receiver base station. The RF10 can be programmed to execute "macros," each with 50 commands.
Basic Setup: You can start setting up your RF10 using the Pre-Programmed Method, Pre-Programmed Auto-Search Method, or the Learning Method. The Pre-Programmed Method allows you to choose codes from the RF10's built-in library, which includes thousands of codes for different brands and models of remote controls. The Pre-Programmed Auto-Search Method is a way you can scan through the other codes in the table to find the right code for your component. Using the Learning Method, the RF10 can learn commands from your old remote controls one button at a time.
Pre-Programmed Codes: The RF10 is pre-programmed to control most brands of TVs, VCRs, DVD players, CD players, cable boxes, satellite receivers, TiVo hard disk recorders, DVRs, tape decks, multimedia PCs, XM Satellite Radio tuners, iPods, Xbox consoles, lighting controls, and other custom installation products.
Punch Through: In most home entertainment systems, the volume is controlled by a single device. In some systems, the TV speakers produce the sound, so you would use the TV device on the RF10 to raise and lower the volume. In other systems, a surround sound receiver and speakers combine to bring you the audio, so you would use the RF10's Audio device to adjust the volume. You can use SimpleSound to set the RF10's volume buttons to always control the sound in your system. That way, when the RF10 is set to VCR or DVD, the volume up, down and mute buttons will work without switching back to Audio or TV. The Punch Through feature is not limited to volume, and can be applied to channel selection, playback controls, etc.
MacroPower: The RF10 features 10 macro buttons, each allowing you to program up to 50 commands.
Erasing: You can erase an individual button with a learned command or a macro. You can erase an entire Device's learned command or macro buttons. You can also erase all your learned commands on all devices, or all your macros everywhere. If you really want a fresh start, it is possible to reset everything to the factory default condition.
Memory: The RF10 stores all of your settings in non-volatile flash memory. The settings will be retained without batteries.
Child Lock Feature: The Child Lock feature blocks all operations of the remote control.
Optional Expander: The RF10 transmits both IR and RF signals. By purchasing the optional MRF100B PowerBlaster, you can operate your equipment with the RF10 up to 100 feet away (through walls, doors, cabinets, inside or outside). The RF10 sends a radio signal to the MRF100B, which is a radio receiver. The MRF100B converts the radio signals to standard infrared commands and sends them out to components in the same cabinet space via a built-in front blaster.
