Get ready for sweet, smooth sounds from this compact 30-watt micro system from Aiwa! The XR-EM50 features a CD player with 30-track programming, an AM/FM tuner, and cassette deck with auto reverse playback and CD synchro. Plus, the auxiliary input allows easy expandability, letting you hook up one external source, like an MD player.

The 2-way, bass reflex speakers each house a 4" woofer and 2-3/8" tweeter inside a handsome enclosure. The compact XR-EM50 fits comfortably on a shelf or tabletop, and fills small- to medium-sized rooms with impressive sound (while carrying an affordable price tag). And the subwoofer output lets you hook up an optional sub for extra bass response.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

D.I.N.A. Amplifier Technology: The XR-EM50 features a Dynamic Integrated Neo Amplifier (D.I.N.A.) which uses a high-output transistor to achieve high power equally over the output frequency range. With this technology, you can enjoy very clear sound from shaking heavy bass to the high clear voice of a female singer.

ECO Mode: To reduce the power consumption when in the standby mode, you can turn on an ECO power mode. When this power economizing mode is activated, everything on the display clears and only the red LED indicator above the power switch lights to show power is being supplied. The ECO mode reduces the standby power consumption from 10.7 watts to 0.7 watts.

Volume Level: The volume level setting is retained during power off/standby. If the unit is turned off with the volume set to a high level (a setting of 17 or higher), the unit will automatically turn down the volume setting to 16 the next time the unit is turned on.

Clock: You can display the time in a 12-hour or 24-hour mode.

Memory Backup: If power is interrupted for more than approximately 12 hours, all settings stored in memory will need to be reset.

Display Brightness: The display can be set to one of two positions: Dim or Bright.

Tone Controls: You can separately adjust the bass and treble from -2 to +5.

Disc Compatibility: This unit can playback 5" or 3" discs, and is compatible with finalized CD-R and CD-RW discs.

Tape Counter: The tape player has a 4-digit tape counter. You can reset the counter to 0000 by pressing the display button, or by opening and closing the tape door.

AI Edit Recording: The XR-EM50 uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) Edit Recording, which takes the length of the tape into account and rearranges the recording order of the CD tracks if necessary, so that no track is cut short at the end of the tape.

Programmed Edit Recording: As you program the CD tracks to record, Programmed Edit Recording displays the remaining recording time for each side of the tape, so you can easily select a set of desired tracks within the length of the tape.

Tape Reverse Mode: You can choose to play one side of a tape only, play both front and back sides of a tape once, or play both sides continuously.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Auxiliary Input: This unit has left and right RCA line level inputs to allow you to connect an auxiliary unit such as a TV, VCR, Minidisc player, etc. You can change the input name in the display from "Aux" to "Video" to "TV." Note: If you wish to connect a turntable, you may first need to connect the turntable into a stereo preamplifier.

Subwoofer Output: This unit has a mono RCA subwoofer output, allowing you to connect a powered subwoofer to enhance the bass response.

Headphone Output: There is a stereo minijack headphone output on the front panel. The speaker output is muted when headphones are plugged in.

Speaker Outputs: The speaker outputs are locking clips which can accept bare wires and pin connectors.
