Overview

Our take on the Havenwood HWHWS4024

With the Havenwood HWHWS4024 multimedia tower you have an elegant way to organize and display your audio/video components. This tower features gently curved sides that give it that "fine furniture" look. The open shelving above and the glass-paneled door echo the look of classic law library bookcases. And this cabinet is constructed with real wood and finished with walnut veneer.

The tower has storage for four components. The tempered glass panel lets infrared (IR) signals pass through, so you can remotely control your gear even with the door closed. Openings in the back panels allow easy access, making it convenient to connect your components once they're on the shelves.

Great buy. Easy to put together alone. Looks expensive.

looks pretty decent after assembly; instructions are a little sketchy; diagrams okay but no narrative or text that explains step by step. Took me about 2 hours.

Pros: nice look; okay price

Cons: assembly instructions pretty meager

Cabinet for Audio compnents

Written by: AzAuthor from Tucson, AZ on February 10, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We ordered this tower after moving from a large house (where everything was custom built-in) to a much smaller town house. It's nice enough that it looks like a "real" piece of furniture in the living/dining area. Wood color from web site is accurate. It sits beside my piano and still looks fine. Instructions for assembly were a bit sketchy, but it all came together--finally--without a glitch. There seems to be some kind of sooty material (graphite, perhaps?) on all the assembly parts. Just a warning to others to not assmble the cabinet on light carpeting and to wash hands carefully during and after working on the cabinet. The unassembled tower arrived via a major delivery company (not UPS), and it was meticulously packed. I'll be getting rid of thick styrofoam slabs for weeks. :-) Two of the wood pieces were defective on the inside; thankfully they could be positioned out of sight--the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Cabinet looks nice, serves its purpose well, and balances out an antique sheet music cabinet on the other side of my piano. Thank you.

Pros: Sturdy, attractive cabinet for the price; holes in back for wires.

Cons: Mysterious black sooty substance, which was probably packed with the hardware. BTW, there is one piece left--just one.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Arrived in perfect condition. Appearance, fit, and finish is good quality and as advertised. Reasonably sturdy, rigid construction. Easy to put together. Satisfied with the purchase.

Pros: Appearance. Quality fit and ease of putting it together.

Cons: More particle board than solid wood, but it still looks nice.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to put together, looks nice. Would not be able to take much abuse as it is mostly particle board or pressed board with a veneer. Works well for our situation.

Pros: Easy to put together, looks nice

Cons: Won't stand up to much abuse, heavy use.

Very nice product. Takes 2 people to assemble because of size and camlock configuration, but the end result met all expectations.

Adequate to my needs

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Be advised that this is a "camlock" kit, not a conventionally joined cabinet. Packing protection was very good and the kit assembled with the usual "IKEA"-ease, however the wrong back panel was packed in mine, and I had to cut down the supplied panels to fit. Thus my cabinet may not be as stable as one with the correct back. Nevertheless, the overall finish is good for this type of unit and it very adequately holds an AV receiver, cable box, Blu-ray and other minor components. This is a good cabinet but I think considerably overpriced for a camlock unit. Finish is darker than it appears in the catalog.

Pros: adequate space, nice finish

Cons: Camlock construction thus not as solid as a properly joined cabinet.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very pleased with the product. Was listed as back ordered but received the product much earlier. Very pleased with the quality of Materials and Finish used.

Pros: Unless you are willing to spend significantly more, you can not beat this cabinet for housing legacy audio equipment.

Cons:
