Sharp, classy unit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have purchased two entertainment furniture units from Crutchfield, and both are high quality. I don't think the pictures on Crutchfield's website do justice to the furniture (nor can they). The assembly was easy to understand, and simple to complete. Happy!

Pros: Design, appearance, sturdiness.

Cons: The shipping box may be too heavy for some, but not likely a problem for someone who orders 'assembly required furniture'.

Excellent Solution

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this for moving all our A/V equipment out of a too-small pedestal TV stand when we mounted the TV to the wall and ran all the wiring through the walls to hide cables and give everything a cleaner look. The color is a very nice walnut finish (which happens to match nicely with a few other pieces of furniture in the room). The construction is a mix of what seems to be solid wood and a veneer product, in general the pieces that face out and are most visible are the solid wood.

Assembly went very quickly and easily (as others have stated anyone with experience assembles IKEA or the like will be very familiar with the process). There are relatively few parts and most of the sections are large and solid so there were fewer steps than I would have thought.

After assembling and loading my components in everything feels quite solid and well supported. If you have any little ones I'd definitely recommend purchasing a wall tether to secure this as it's quite tall and is likely to be very heavy, not something you want falling on a child.

One of the pieces of my unit did arrive damaged (the shipping box was in good shape and the items were well packaged so I think this occurred in the warehouse. The is an online site for submitting an order for damaged parts, I submitted my issue on Saturday, they processed it with no questions and I received my new piece (the large full side piece) on that Thursday, which I was pretty pleased with.

Pros: Looks great, easy to assemble, has nice flexibility in shelf layout, and met the definite need I had for a tower A/V solution that wasn't all metal and glass.

Cons: Depending on the size of your equipment space is tight once you slide things in, so plan your wiring carefully and plug as many things as possible in before sliding the components in place.

Dimensions are INCORRECT be aware!

Written by: Alex from Sonoma, CA on January 15, 2014

My reason for the purchase of this cabinet was because of the interior dimensions: 20"W x 18"D and it could hold all my equipment in a small foot print of space. Well as it turns out these dimensions are completely false!! Just for the record the overall width is 22" not 24" and the "open" interior is 18"W x 21"D and so on.

When I called customer service (the first person I talked to) about this problem told me that they do not have any control of what I actually received? This company should have total control and makes sure the costumer receives what they order! I then talked to the next person and I explained the problem they did everything they could to take care of the problem. They also told me that they would get the dimensions changed on the website (it hasn't happened yet) to reflect to actual dimensions. Also, the statement "constructed from solid wood" in the description is not really a true statement they also use practical board.

Pros: It has a nice finish/color and was easy to put together.

Perfect Fit 4 Me !

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is very attractive. Wood coloration looks just like photo. As previously stated in another review, the glass in the two doors is clear not opaque (as it appears in photo). This was fine with me, as well. As far as my audio equipment is concerned, it all fit exactly as I had planned based on the technical information provided in the listing. The finished product, loaded with my equipment, looks like it was specifically made for me. I used the top shelf for my turntable. I would not recommend using the top shelf for this purpose unless you are at least 5 foot 8 inches tall.

Pros: Quantity of shelves, and space provided within movable and non-movable shelving, allows for several pieces of equipment to be stored in this unit. Especially considering the size of most equipment on today's market.

Cons: As mentioned in another review, the back panel of the unit is a bit awkward to work around. This really depends on the type/size of equipment being stored in the unit and, possibly, the amount of equipment. The portal size available for wiring to enter and exit the unit, with the back panel in place, is somewhat limited. You would have to develop a very specific strategy for wiring each piece of equipment, and you may need someone to help hold equipment as you wire..then position it on shelf.

Glad I found it

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The color was darker than what shown on the photo, a good thing for me because it matched better my other furniture. It is a typical type of do-it-yourself type of assembly. If you have assembled any Ikea stuff it's identical. All parts were there and instructions were clear. Prior Ikea experience was very helpful. I had to make additional holes at the back panel. Additional shelves were necessary-it only comes with three-and I made my own which was not exactly easy. Overall, the unit is attractive, of good quality, and functional. I am happy with it. I wonder if it should have come with locking casters at the bottom legs.

Nice piece.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to put together. The Color is darker than shown. But we knew that from other reviews. It ended up being a color match to another piece we have. Holes in the back are great. Doors were clear not frosted, but very easy to install. Glad we found this piece we were pulling our hair out trying to find what we wanted in the stores.

Cons: Price felt kind of high after we actually got it put together. I could see 300 maybe. But it serves its purpose so if you want something easy and pretty it's worth it. Glad the shipping was free.

Solid Piece

Nice sturdy cabinet, especially for the money. Would be nicer to have slightly bigger access holes in the back panel for people with larger cables, and multiple zones and components feeding into the receiver.

Wood is a little darker than in the photo. Assembly required. When assembling I would suggest leaving the back piece for last, it'll make it easier to connect all your wires.
