Overview

Our take on the Rockford Fosgate P2-1X12

Standout performance

Rockford Fosgate's P2-1X12 ported enclosure offers the extra power handling of a Punch P2 12" sub, so you and your passengers can rock out to powerful bass.

Bulletproof bass

The enclosure houses a Punch P2 12" sub, with a paper cone that's reinforced with Kevlar fibers and supported by a rubber surround. The heavy-duty motor assembly and advanced cooling vents allow this sub to handle up to 400 watts RMS without flinching. The sub's dual voice coils are wired for a 1-ohm total impedance, so make sure your amp can power this enclosure safely.

Advanced port design

Rugged 5/8" medium-density fiberboard construction means this enclosure will hold strong for fat, heavy bass. Industrial-grade black carpet provides a clean, finished look, and protects your trunk from nicks and scratches. The spring terminals will accept bare wire, pin connectors, or banana plugs. This enclosure uses an advanced port design that promotes generous air movement, while reducing distortion-causing port noise, so you hear louder, deeper bass. Add an amp and some wiring, and feel the thick low end this enclosure adds to your ride.

Great sub!!!

I bought this for my 2003 Buick and it was better than i expected. Its the range and responsiveness that i would expect from a 12 inch sub, but with a better sounding tone.

Pros: 400W Rms, fast and free shipping, Easy to install.

Cons: Doesn't come with mounting brackets

Holy ****

There arent many single 12 inch subs that bump as loud as this. i drive a hatchback so my trunk isnt completely sealed off and this thing BLARES bass without distorting sound quality. i put dynamat in my car so it barely rattles. i hooked it up with a kicker 500w amp with no problem. it doesnt get any better for $250 if your thinking about buying it, DO IT rockford and crutchfield never disappoint! Excellent.

Pros: Everything

Cons: not good for tight spaces (get a shallow rockford if tight on space)

Features

Punch Woofer: The enclosure houses one front-firing Rockford Fosgate Punch P2D2-12 12" subwoofer. The dual 2-ohm voice coils are internally wired in parallel to present a 1-ohm load. The sub features a StampCast steel frame, a Kevlar fiber reinforced paper cone, and Santoprene surround. An anodized aluminum voice coil former and spider venting help keep the subwoofer cool.

Spider: Dual spiders made from tear and fatigue resistant poly-cotton improve mechanical stability under high excursion, maintaining consistent excursion characteristics.

Solid MDF Construction: The enclosure is constructed of high quality 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), which resists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities.

Vented Enclosure: The vented enclosure is aided by precision construction through computer design. The enclosure consists of one front firing 12" Punch P2 series subwoofer with a proprietary high-flow, low-noise port. The speaker terminals are located on the left side of the box (when facing the box). The box is covered in black carpet.

Tuned Port: The enclosure uses a front-firing proprietary high-flow, low-noise port to help produce deep and loud bass efficiently.

Box Carpeting: The enclosure is finished with high-density carpeting for superior durability. The carpet is black.

Speaker Terminal: The subwoofer enclosure uses one pair of high current, spring loaded binding posts. The binding posts are located on the left side of the box and will accept pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Power Handling: The subwoofer can handle up to 400 watts RMS; 800 watts peak power.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the P2D2-12 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not just for an instant.

Dimensions: The depth dimensions listed in Features & Specs include the subwoofer's trim ring, which adds approximately 7/8 of an inch. The depth of just the enclosure is 15-3/4 inches at the base and 13-1/8 inches at the top.

The tuning frequency of the box isn't provided. However, the enclosure uses a proprietary high-flow, low-noise port that's tuned specifically for the Rockford Fosgate 12" P2 Punch subwoofer to produce deep and loud bass with maximum efficiency. I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Unfortunately, the Rockford Fosgate P2-1X12 will not work with the Alpine MRP-M350 due to it not being able to match the 1-ohm impedance of the Rockford. If you already have the amp, I would go with the Kicker 40TCWS102 Enclosed Subwoofer. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Nov 12, 2014 ]  Staff
