Heat is the enemy of all amplifiers — sucking power away from your music and damaging internal components over time. Rockford Fosgate came up with some clever innovations that keep these Class D Punch amplifiers running cool, improving efficiency and reducing their size so they can fit in almost any vehicle.
The 4-channel Punch P500X4D amplifier sends 150 watts RMS to each of your front and rear speakers, giving you the crystal-clear power you need to hear the full impact of your music. You can also put the amp into 2-channel mode to drive a couple of subs with 500 watts RMS each. Separate front and rear frequency filters give you razor-sharp control over your speakers' clarity, while the onboard Punch EQ bass boost allows you to reinforce your music's low end when you're using a sub.
Small and cool
This versatile amp utilizes full-range Class D amp technology, drawing much less current from your car's electrical system than traditional amps, running cooler and generating tons of power from a remarkably compact chassis. Rockford Fosgate builds this amp using precision components assembled by high-speed, super-accurate robots this Discrete Surface Mount system results in less interference between parts, lower operating temperature, and increased life for the amplifier. An amplifier that's built to last, packed with power, and fits almost anywhere — what more could you want for your music?

Great sounding amp has plenty of juice
This amp had been great so far, my music sounds great at high levels for extended periods of time when I out driving around all day. It has stayed at good temps as well.
Pros: Size, stays pretty cool and helps music sound clean.
Cons: None so far.
VERY GOOD AMP, EASILY PUSHES MY FOUR EXELON XR1800 SPEAKERS. NO DISTORTION. EASILY ADJUSTABLE. GREAT QUALITY.
This amp packs alot of punch for its size am running some Boston acoustics and man you can hear the mids and highs super clear
Have this amp hooked to some Rockford punch pro speaker and it def puts out what it needs to
Installed in my 2012 Civic. Powering Polks 6.5 component in front and Polks 3 way 6.5 in rear. There seem to be a little clipping and chirping. Not sure where it's coming from; head unit or iPod or the Sony DSP installed. I have everything installed by a professional that was highly recommended by Yelp in San Jose. I would give it 3.5 stars for the chirping - but it might be from my lack of experience with amp tuning abilities.
Pros: 150 RMS x 4 has plenty power. Fits under my passenger seat. I would prefer to have it installed in the trunk but I have a CNG Civic so there's literally very little room in the boot.
Cons: Runs a little warm, produces chirping.
Great product for a awesome price. Was going to buy a 300 watt amp from a retail store for about 200$, then I was sold when I saw 700 more watts for 50 dollars more.
Pros: Great price break for a superior brand. It protects speakers from being blown out by shutting them off when they're getting to hot.
I got the p1000 to power a pair of subs and am very happy with it. lots of power at a very good price.
Awesome amp! Lots of power, clean and clear sound. I no distortion at higher volumes. One of the best and clearest amps I've bought so far. It's even clearer and cleaner than my JL HD600/4.
Pros: Clean, clear acurate sound!
Cons: Doesn't come with remote punch eq control.
This amp was a breeze to install and the sound is very clean. I was running an original Soundstream 4 channel amp pushing 75x4 @4ohms and 150x4 @2ohms and it produced a very natural sound but the P1000 does the same with some extra power left in reserve. Would recommend this amp to all @ this price.
Pros: 250x4 @ 2ohm and the ease of adjustments for me because the dails are on the top of the amp. Perfect for my set up.
Great amp for the price
Pros: Lots of power for my highs
Cons: None found yet
Great pricing and very happy with the quality
Pros: Item arrived on the date that was given to me.
This amp was a great deal i have it running a MM polk auido 15 bridged and 4 kenwood 5x7 in a F-350 super crew. Very happy with this product and is a steal at this price.
Pros: clean looking design, easy adjustment even when mounted.
Love the size, build quality, and so far the performance. I will continue to analyze the sound as I listen. Paired this with a P1000X1D, set of 4 Alpine SPR-50c, and a Punch P3D4-10. Sound is super clean and punchy. I need to run some CDs through to criticize the highs as so far it has all been compressed sources.
Pros: size, build, sound
Cons: none so far - super price on Crutchfield
Bought two of these and they both made a chirping noise at certain volumes. my $100 sony xplod amp actually sounded better too. sent both back for refund. I used a 4 gauge amp install kit.
Cons: if you are ok with random chirping noises from your stereo.. then try this!
you can not beat the price of this powerhouse. i have it running a set of t2 rf comps and 2 6.5 soundstream voice speakers in the extra cab colorado extreme. also have the t1500bdcp running 2 12 inch obsidians. it is much louder then my old school 240.4 as it should be, but it cuts out when the voltage drops even to 11.9 volts. i know i need to upgrade my alternator, but even so, my pioneer 80prs has the voltage meter on the face, only the highs shut off as soon as the reading drops below 12 volts even for a split second and it takes about 3 seconds for the highs to kick back on. not sure if it has something to do with it being a class D amp, or maybe it has a defect, but i will have to email Crutchfield and ask. besides this problem though, the sound quality and the power cant be matched for this price.
Pros: loud, clear, excellent value
Cons: amp sometimes cuts out, will upgrade my electrical system and if the fixes the problem, i will try to update this review. should be a few weeks before i can shell out 500 bucks for a 250 amp alt.
All I can say is BUY this Amp. You won't be dissapointed
Pros: Easy setup Runs very cool.
Cons: None yet
Great price for great amp
I gave this amp a chance after seeing the price break and also going on the reputation of Rockford Fosgate being a amplifier company. I was shipped one and had it professionally installed. The amp started making weird sounds like "chirping" coming from all 4 channels. We sent the first one back and had another one shipped out- same problem on second amp!! After also replacing my Headunit and going through my wiring, I finally took it to a very high end car audio shop and they diagnosed that the amp was indeed defective. There must be a defective build issue on this amp. Installed a new Hertz four channel and sound disappeared immediately. Crutchfield was great about returns, but they need to seriously consider stop selling RF if this is the quality they are going to put out to market.
Pros: Lots of power
Cons: Does not work AT ALL!

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate P1000X4D is a 4x150-watt, Class-D, full-range, 4-channel amplifier. Class-D amplifiers are very efficient, which reduces current consumption from the vehicle's charging system.
CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4-ohm load with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Following the CEA-2006 criteria, the P1000X4D is rated at 150 Watts RMS x 4 channels with an 85dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output is 105dB.
Cast Aluminum Heatsink: The cast aluminum heatsink dissipates heat generated by the amplifier's circuitry. The inherent advantage of casting provides a 30% improvement of cooling over conventional extrusion heatsink designs.
DSM (Discrete Surface Mount): In the manufacturing process high speed robotics are used to place 1% tolerance parts and large board traces. DSM improves the efficiency of the circuit, decreases cross-talk from other discrete components and lowers operating temperature.
Power and Protection LEDs: Power and Protection LEDs are located on top of the amplifier. The Power LED glows red when the amplifier is turned on. The Protect LED illuminates yellow if a short circuit or too low an impedance is detected at the speaker connections. When any of the protection circuits engage, the amp automatically shuts down until the problem is corrected.
Punch EQ2: The Punch EQ on-board equalization circuit helps correct for acoustical deficiencies in the listening environment. It works along with the crossover switch on the amplifier. When the switch is set to Low Pass operation, the Gyrator-based Punch EQ control is a narrow band adjustment variable from 0dB to +18dB at 45Hz that eliminates frequency shift with boost.
Control Panel: The P1000X4D has top-mounted controls, covered by a removable panel. There are two sets of controls; one set for the front channels and another set for the rear channels. The controls are as follows:
2/4 Channel Switch: This side-mounted 2-way switch lets you set the inputs to 2-channel or 4-channel mode. In 2-channel mode, only the front inputs need to be connected to send audio to all four output channels. In the 4-channel mode, both front and rear inputs are connected.
Power Connections: The power and ground terminals are nickel-plated set-screw wire connectors and will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. An external 100-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire within 18 inches of the battery. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 100-amps, the original should be replaced with a 100-amp fuse. The remote turn-on terminal is also a nickel-plated set-screw and will accept wire up to 8-gauge. The supplied 2mm and 4mm Allen wrenches are required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
Speaker Connections: There are four pairs of speaker outputs for front left/right and for rear left/right. The terminals are nickel-plated set-screw wire connectors and will accept up to 8-gauge wire. The supplied 2mm Allen wrench is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
RCA Inputs: The 2 pairs of RCA input jacks are nickel-plated to resist corrosion.
RCA Outputs: The amplifier also features a pair of Pass-Thru RCA jacks which provide a convenient way to daisy-chain an additional amplifier without running an extra set of RCA cables from the front of the vehicle to the rear amplifier location. The RCA output jacks are nickel-plated to resist corrosion.
