Enclosure Compatibility
Features
Woofer:
The cone is constructed of molded polypropylene. Polypropylene is lightweight
and strong, giving the woofer high power handling and low distortion.
High
Excursion Large Roll Surround:
A large edge roll surround allows Punch woofers to produce 20% more linear
excursion than standard surrounds, resulting in more bass output.
Parabolic Triangular Cone Geometry
Support System: By bonding a polypropylene parabolic dust cap of equivalent
size to the cone body, a balanced triangular structure is created. This system
reduces piston flex and eliminates cone distortion.
Linear Spider: A compliant
linear spider improves mechanical stability under high excursion, maintaining
consistent excursion characteristics. This eliminates the need for a
"break-in period."
Spider Support Ring: This
integrated ring increases the bonding surface area between the voice coil former
and spider, establishing a stronger joint. The result is increased mechanical
power handling under high power/high excursion situations.
Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil
Former: Aluminum voice coil formers offer superior heat dissipation over
other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former's
strength. These two factors combine to improve the overall power handling
characteristics of the subwoofer.
Precision Stamped CRS Basket:
Reinforced cold roll steel basket legs dampen unwanted resonance for better bass
coupling.
Removable Magnet Cover: The
cosmetic magnet cover can be removed when additional mounting clearance is
required. With the magnet cover
installed, the woofer has the following dimensions:
- Magnet Diameter: 6.976"
- Depth as top: 5.258"
Spring Posts:
The heavy-duty spring posts will accept pin connectors and bare wire.
Concealing Ring: Once the
subwoofer is mounted, the concealing ring can be installed to hide the mounting
screws, giving the subwoofer a finished look. When mounted, the concealing ring
adds approximately 3/8" to the woofer's mounting height and approximately
5/8" to the frame diameter.
Enclosure
Compatibility
Recommended Sealed Box
Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Rockford Fosgate range from
0.5 cu/ft to 1.0 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by
Rockford Fosgate is 0.65 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by
Crutchfield.
Recommended Vented Box
Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Rockford Fosgate range from
1.0 cu/ft to 1.5 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by
Rockford Fosgate is 1.25 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by
Crutchfield. One 3" diameter x 7.3" long port should be used with a
1.25
cu/ft enclosure.
Recommended Single
Reflex Bandpass Volume: Rockford Fosgate's enclosure chart lists three compatible bandpass enclosures. The highlighted bandpass enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of
0.65 cu/ft, a vented chamber volume of 0.65 cu/ft and a single 3" diameter x 11"
long port. The smallest recommended enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of
0.5 cu/ft, a vented chamber volume of 0.45 cu/ft and a single 3" diameter x 12.75"
long port. The largest recommended enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of
0.75 cu/ft, a vented chamber volume of 0.90 cu/ft and a single 3" diameter x 9.25"
long port.
