Give your ride some Punch

Rockford Fosgate showcases their fanatical commitment to sonic excellence in the Punch Series of speakers, amps, and subs. If you like to listen to potent, powerful music — and feel it too — Punch components will give you impressive sound that'll stand out in a crowd.

Rockford Fosgate designed the Punch P152 5-1/4" speakers as a high-grade replacement for your factory speakers. Each speaker features a responsive polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround that'll stand up to hours of high-volume jams. Rockford Fosgate uses a new technique to attach the surround to the cone that yields up to 25% more cone area, for fuller sound and stronger performance. The dome tweeters provide clear, extended highs that can hold their own when the bass gets heavy.

Take a closer look and you'll notice a couple of cool innovations. The slots around the frame eliminate the need to redrill screw holes when the factory holes are just a little bit off. And these speakers come with adapter plates that allow them to fit into oval speaker openings.

Product Highlights:

  • 2-way 5-1/4" speakers (pair)
  • mineral-filled polypropylene woofer
  • butyl rubber surround
  • 3/4" polyetherimide (PEI) dome tweeter
  • grilles included
  • includes adapter brackets for 5"x7" and 6"x9" openings
  • Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST™) increases cone area
  • power range: 6-40 watts RMS (80 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 70-22,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 87 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-15/16"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Great speaker over all. Put then in a 92 dakota with a stock radio and for their size have great bass response. Can't wait to stick an amp behind them and crank on them.

Pros: Bassy for their size. Have great balance with mods and highs.

Cons: Don't fit just right will have to modify slightly to make fit like they should.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i had quite the time installing these in the snow but all the tedious work aside the speakers are great and the brackets worked quite well in my x-type. the only downside i had was the speaker adapters did not fit either connections on the door and the speaker itself but to me it was just a minor setback just added my own wires. brackets were not terrible even with having to drill another hole. overall great buy, would recommend, will be buying again for the rear doors!

Pros: sound quality, overall build is solid, loud

Cons: speaker adapters did not work as intended and were discarded.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were a perfect fit in the doors of my 1977 F-100. I didn't want to cut up the doors for a speaker to fit and these dropped right in. I added some baffles to protect the speakers and the sound great. I also have some Punch 6x9 behind the seat and with the Alpine head unit, this little truck rocks.

Pros: Perfect fit, price, sound

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound. I am not sure what people are replacing when writing reviews for these or any other 6.5" speaker. The do what they are supposed to do exceptionally well. They are loud with the proper amplification. They are clear with the proper amplification. And they are very well made. I would highly recommend anything from Rockford Fosgate.

Pros: Great sound, inexpensive, great looking, well made.

Cons: None

This is my second set of these speakers. They are going into a 1990 VW Westfalia. There mounted in the rear deck next to the A/C. Excellent speakers. The last ones lasted around 8-9 years. Applying baffles to enhance the sound.

2006 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent sound, a big improvement over the speakers that came with my '06 Jeep Wrangler. I installed them in the sound bar that is under the rollbar. The grills that came with the speakers are a little too big to fit in the opening but I don't mind. One side is distorting due to the case. Will use sound deadening when I get the chance. The free supplied wiring connector was helpful but the ends that attach to the speakers were too small and needed to be modified to work.

Pros: Excellent sounding, very good price, good shipping and internet shopping experience. Helpful extras to make the installation easy.

Cons: None.

Very nice and loud and good on music like rap and dubstep.these speakers are great but you will need the right amount of power to push them. Head unit power alone isn't enough a amp I required to get the full effect of them

Speakers for my 81 Imperial

Written by: KMM from Detroit MI on February 1, 2014

1981 Chrysler Imperial
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love the speakers, sound is great, but was disappointed that they are not drop ins that actually fit the car. When I purchased I used the selection tool on the site to pick out these speakers. Had to modify passenger side mount and remove some plastic to be able to use 2 of the 3 mounting screws. Drivers side, had to remove the rubber surrounding the magnet to come close to fitting, then cant use any of the mounting holes, had to remove some plastic from the car and rely on silicone to hold the speaker in place. Hoping it doesn't vibrate on me.

Pros: Great sound for the price

Cons: Don't really fit the car without some modifications.

Factory Flawed But sounds OK

Written by: Napools from Florida on September 10, 2012

The speaker set i received had one of the connections held together by electricians tape to mend the spot where the solder joint had been broken. The speaker was in a sealed factory container too, not a return to Crutchfield from what I could see. even though the speaker still functioned ok, I won't buy another Rockford Fosgate product

Pros: size fir my car well

Cons: factory quality control is poor at best

Great mids/highs, Terrible bass

Written by: Seth B from Southport, IN on June 20, 2011

I bought these for the rear deck in my 08 civic and they sound awesome, but then bought them again for the doors and the mids/highs are great but the bass is extremely terrible. I will be adding a sub just to get some bass.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these for the rear deck of my 2008 Honda Civic LX Sedan and absolutely love them! They sound soo much better than the factory junk that used to be in there. Came with the correct adapter brackets. The only problem is the terminals on the wiring harness do not fit the RF terminals so I had to go buy a pack of the correct size female terminals. Other than that I couldn't ask for anything better, thank you Crutchfield!

Rockford Fosgate's rock the MINI Cooper

2003 MINI Cooper
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound is excellent, the Punch speakers rock the MINI Cooper. I bought these to replace the stock speakers in a 2003 MIni Cooper S. The sound was worth the installation work for sure. No complaints with the speakers, but the speaker wire adapters did not fit the speaker's tabs, so I made the trip to the big box store and bought a pack of new ends. I cut & crimped and they were fine. I also decided to replace the stock door panel covers with the RF covers, after some trimming and buying longer screws they look great. They're great, I'll be getting the 6x9's replaced with RF's next !

Product Research

Injection-Molded Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mineral filled, injection-molded polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The butyl rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 3/4" PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) dome tweeter; PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

Adapter Bracket: For mounting flexibility, the speaker can be mounted in 6x9 and 5x7 applications using the supplied brackets.

Speaker Terminals: These speakers have 0.25" wide positive (+) terminals and 0.187" wide negative (-) terminals, which are too large for the vehicle-specific speaker harnesses supplied by Crutchfield for many vehicle applications. It is recommended that a pack of assorted female quick slides (item number 120FQS10PK, sold separately) be purchased and spliced to the harnesses to adapt them to the speaker terminals.
